We are still racking our brains for this costume thing! we didn't get into it last year (only DD was minnie mouse) so we want to do something fabulous this year!!

We went last year and had a blast. DH was Indiana Jones and I was the Bride from the Haunted Mansion complete with red beating heart!
Girls were Belle and Tinkerbell. I thought getting dressed up was great fun. We loved it and had a blast.
Would love to go to MNSSHP again. Hmmm maybe I hear that FREE Dining calling me for another trip in Sept.

We will be there too! I am still unsure if dh and I are dressing up or not. And as far as the 3 girls go, I am thinking about having someone make them costumes. People think that my youngest looks like Merriweather (from Sleeping Beauty) SO, I was thinking Flora, Fawna, and Merriweather.....We will see, I think it is a neat idea, but I don't know anyone who sews...

will buy tickets for the 5th and also sept 29. can never get enough of mnsshp. i heard that the 5th is the best date to be there. not many locals going as their kids have school the next day.

i will use the same costume i have used the last 5 years for mnsshp.

it is a bright orange t shirt with the letters COSTUME in black on the front of the shirt. shorts will be black in keeping with the halloween theme.
and of course, my lime green ribbon in a bow will be pinned to my shoulder.

you should try to get the free family pic right at 7 when the photo areas open up. it is very crowded when you do them after the festives begin.

i am going solo this year.

tell Mr. disneymommymichelle that last year on the date i went to mnsshp i saw 7 different families dressed up as the incredibles.

it was very popular last year.

check on ebay and see if anyone is selling any disney costumes. most people i know do not recycle and reuse their mnsshp costumes. they do new ones each year. just the opposite of me. i am not into the dressing up part. afraid it would draw to much attention to my fat body. so , i do the tshirt costume to keep it simple.

tickets went on sale to the public on thursday at 5 pm.

i called this morning but there was a glitch in the system at 8:30 ish.
the cm at disney called me back at 9:13 and asked if i still wanted the tickets as the glitch had been cleared up.

she sold me mnsshp tickets for sept 29 and oct 5.

if you call and the cm says they are not on sale yet, or a glitch in the system prevents them from selling them, either ask to speak to a supervisor or hang up and call back. odds are you won't get the same cm.


you can call now. i bought mine this morning.

it is always good to meet right before the party starts.
one are will be designated for the mnsshp ers to stay until the party officially starts at 7 pm. from 6 to 7 party ticket holders are sent to one area to enjoy the rides. in 94 it was tomorrowland. last year it was adventureland.

once sept 15 rolls around, we will know the area that will be the holding area before the party.
that would be one place to meet.

for the parade, the walkway by casey's or across the street by the plaza is a very good area to meet.

i can name a few more if you want.

one year we had 5 meeting times. this way you had a choice of meeting other disers and it didn't interupt your time at the party. our mini meets were for 15 minutes only.

by meeting earlier, you might find another family you bond with and can spend time on rides or attractions together.

I am going to bed now but I saw the edit on the 1st post. A good meeting spot right after the parade would be the covered area outside Tomorrowland, I think it is called the Rose Garden. We rested there last year and it is a large empty space right off the hub...

There will be eleven of us going-five adults and six children.My DD7 wants to be Tinkerbelle,DS10 wants to be Luke Skywalker and DS8 wants to be comfortable. :rolleyes: My DD2 hates costumes so I doubt she will be dressed up.She has two princess dresses and an Alice costume .

Not sure if I can convince any of the other adults to dress up.

i wouldn't worry about this date being sold out.
usually opening night and halloween, or day closest to it, sells out in late august.

the ticket i received for sept 29th isgreen and off yellow and the circle is disneys animal kingdom, set off on an adventure.

We've got our tickets in hand for the 5th as well, and this will be a first trip to Disney for everyone in the family except me, and a first time to the MNSSHP for everyone. Now I've got a question about costumes (especially for the kids). Does pretty much anything go, or should we try to "Disney" theme the costumes? Not sure what anyone is going to be yet, but it will definitely be short sleeves.... Thanks.

I MIGHT be going to MNSSHP on 10/06/06. But I don't want to get too excited b/c it's not official, meaning I haven't booked my airfare. I did however book 5 nights (10/05/06-10/10/06) at Pop Century...Oh yeah, and I saw this really cute dress recently and bought it b/c it's SOOO Minnie Mouse. So I figured I'd get it b/c it's cute and if we go, I'll dress up as Minnie!

You can add us to your list. It will be 2 families of 4. Me, dh, dd6, dd3, my friend and her husband, their dd8 & ds 5. We're still working on costumes, trying to convince the dh's. Thinking about peter pan, 2-wendy's, tinkerbell and the adults as pirates, but don't know for sure yet. I know dd's will really want to be princesses. We can't wait to go. This will be our first Mnsshp. pirate: We have adr's at CP for 5:40, would like a little earlier, but we'll see.

Since 'technically' the festivities don't begin until 7pm you will be fine and not miss anything hollweenish, but if you wanted to boost some extra park time since we are allowed in at 4 with the ticket, then you might want to try for earlier. Good luck!!!

I'm 99% certain we'll be at the Oct 5th MNSSHP. I think we're going to try to go to two...went last year, and had such a ball, but there was too much to see and not enough time! The fireworks were just amazing last year.

We were Shrek and Fiona last year. Had several CMs tell us they were great costumes, so don't be afraid to go non-Disney. I HATED my dress...looked like a giant green sack, so if we do that again, I'll have to find a new dress. DH"s costume was easy...a pair of pajama pants, a shirt we already had because of going to Renaissance Faires, and we made Shrek's vest by cutting the arms out of a quilted long underwear-type top, and dying it brown in the washing machine! Total cost...under $20!

I'd like to go as Belle and Beast, but my sewing skills aren't up to par for that dress. I have a friend whose mom is a seamstress, so I'm going to see if she'd be willing to make it for me...I think I could manage making the one for DH.

Or maybe we'll do Eilonwy and Taran from the Black Cauldron. I have her dress about half-way done already...just have to find the time!

Looking forward to chatting and building the excitement before the trip! And meeting everyone there, I hope!

Ok... just to cover all our Pop and MNSSHP bases here...

We will be at MNSSHP on October 5! Had the tickets for a few weeks now. This will be our second MNSSHP... loved it last year. It was a bit sprinkly last year when we went, so we wore halloween t-shirts (all hail Target) and rain ponchos until the rain stopped.

We have 4:15 ADRs for Crystal Palace. We were also thinking of 1900 Park Fare as we've never tried either... any comments on which is better?

Can't wait for Hallowishes!

Alrighty-o ladies!! just wanted to post here (and gents if there are any out there!!) that we will be meeting (if you want) for HolloWishes (the fireworks) by TOmorrowland Noodle Station!! it's my fave spot ot watch the Fireworks and Tink flies RIGHT OVER YOUR HEAD!!

it's fabulous and there are chairs and tables to much stuff if you would like!

We will be there no matter what watching the works, so if ya wanna come please do!!!

Hi everybody! We'll be attending our second MNSSHP on Oct. 5 too! We just felt that one was not enough! ;) Looks like our group will be pirates and a princess Cinderella. I ordered the pirate Mickey ears for our group to wear with Capt. Jack Sparrow shirts. My son will be wearing the actual Jack Sparrow wig and hat with a pirates t-shirt from the Disney Store. My daughter will be getting her hair and make up done at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and then we'll head over to the MK early for a 2:30 lunch at CRT. We can't wait! Hope to see some of you there!

is it for both of the parade times? (8 & 10) and both at the same spot you mentioned?

i think having 2 meeting times would be good in case someone gets stuck on a ride and can't fight the crowds to get to the terrace noodle area.

last year i was unable to connect in a planned meet as i was on the wrong side in the path of the parade and couldn't cross over. i don't want to miss out on your planned meet.

the ticket i received for oct 5th mnsshp is red and purple. states cinderallabration in the circle on the front.

the ticket i received for sept 29th isgreen and off yellow and the circle is disneys animal kingdom, set off on an adventure.

both state happiest celebration on earth on the top of them


last year's mnsshp tickets i had were characters. i got donald duck on the front of them. so kewl

the tickets for mnsshp are very similar to the room keys you use for your resort room.

they are a hard plastic and the size of a credit card.

they list on the back of the card the mnsshp date it is valid for.

Well, DH bought us the orange teeshirts from the Disney Store to all dress up alike. I never really liked halloween, so this is perfect for me. oh my goodness. I can't believe there are so many of us on 10/5. We'll be there too. Me, DH, ds turning 7 and dd turning 4!!

Not sure on costumes yet. We went as the Peter Pan family last time. This time dh and I are opting for Big Bad Wolf and Malificent t-shirts respectively. DD has many diff't princesses to choose from and a hula dancer. I'm hoping she'll choose the hula (pretend to be Lilo) and ds will go as Stitch. But who knows....it changes daily. LOL

Hi all! I wanted to stop by and check it! I am getting sooooooo excited I can hardly stand it, lol! :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana:

2 of my girls have decided what they are going to wear to MNSSHP. Hailey is going to be a cheerleader (gymboree costume) and Karley, (not that she has any say, lol) is going to be Minnie mouse. Lizzy is still undecided she has a W.I.T.C.H costume from last year and Mulan from the year before. I'm thinking she might wear on of those but she needs to decide! DH and I will hopefully be able to find some cute Jack & Sally shirts to wear. We were going to dress up as Jack & Sally but, I'm thinking it might be too hot!

I can't wait to meet up for fireworks! That is such a great idea!

I just had to share with everyone -- I FINALLY finished making DH's MNSSHP costume pants tonight! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

It has taken me three weeks, about 1-2 hours per night, to finish the stupid things...I thought they would take a week or less! Hah! The pattern I'm using for the pants of the Beast costume (it's actually the one from Simplicity that is supposed to be Capt. Jack's costume!) was waaaaay more complex than I anticipanted, given that everything I know about sewing I've learned on the internet. I've made myself a renaissance dress before -- I thought men's clothes would be easier! :rotfl:

Oh well, one costume piece down, three to go (but DH and I have agreed that if I don't finish the jacket, that's okay, since it'll probably be hot anyway). I've made a shirt before, so hopefully making another one won't be bad...and how hard can a vest be?! (Famous last words, I know, I know....)

Okay if you are interested in Meeting up with other DISers briefly,
we will be getting together to watch Hallowishes, the Fireworks!!!
There is a HUGE seating area by the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle
Station! just look for the LIME GREEN mickey heads!!!

MEET approx. 15-20minutes before the fireworks begin!!! last yr they
were at 9:15pm

Oh man, the CP is going great. I am loving it so far!! I am mostly working at MK, though I have worked at MGM (1 time), Epcot (about 5 times), and AK (about 10 times, and working there 1 time next week). Can't wait to see everyone.

i guess it depends on what your priorities are.
also, how many in your group.

last year i felt rushed , it was a friday i went on. many locals attend the mnsshp on a friday as they do not work the next day and the kids do not have school also. the crowds thinned out after the second parade.

this is my take on it.
i stood in line at 6:45 to enter in the building for the free h'ween pic.
doors opened at 7 and i was about hte 20th person in line.
i left the building at 7:40.........the line when i got out snacked around buzz.

then off to see the headless horseman. stood from 7:45 until it happened, which was about a minute before 8:00 pm.
then the parade. first time i stood on main street as i loved watching the lights dim and see the decorations. (second parade, i stood near the hall of presidents so i could get out earlier and do a few rides and beat some of the crowd.)

so far, i have spent 1 hour 45 minutes to accomplish the above. that is about 2 hours of down time standing around for 2 things to do.

I then hit some trick and treat stations and did no rides.

time to line up in front of the castle area for hallowishes which started around 9:15.

ride time and t & t time for me started at 9:45 that night.

back to see the parade again for the 2nd viewing.
after that, it was some rides and shopping.

i wanted to buy the special halloween mnsshp pins being sold that night.
each night is a different pin.

when you look at the time i had for the evening and i went solo last year, i would say yes, two nights would be better if you wanted to take it all in.

do the pic early as the line gets long after the parade.
eat before the party starts.

if you do 2 nights, skip the parade on the second night.
fw worth a second viewing.


we are meeting up at fw time. have to get there prior to the start of it as it could get crowded.

the one thing in our favor in going on a thursday, less crowds.

if you have many in your group and you can swing 2 mnsshp events, i would go for it.

i did miss a lot of things by taking in both parades, fireworks and treat stations. i missed the costume event in toon town. i missed many rides.
i did limited shopping for mnsshp pins and things only sold for that night.

i missed a lot of the rides and felt rushed.


this is why i am doing 2 nights this year.

Hi Again...
I thought we would be going on Friday the 6th, but now we're going to Halloween Horror Nights that night. As far as right now, We're coming on the 5th! DH is still going to be a pirate, only he wants to get that Jack Sparrow wig. I'm in the process of making more detailed dreadlocks for the wig.
I still have to figure out exactly what DD's are going to be...and me too!

AND, I thought I'd let you know (in case you're still keeping track), that we (okay I) am changing our costumes. We are going to do the 3 musketeers and whatever Princess my little girl feels like dressing as that night (could be Belle, Aurora, Cindy or Snow White. She'll have all the dresses, thanks to Mommy, the seamstress . . .)

I finally purchased my tickets for this, lol.

We're thinking of doing some fancy face painting... the idea of a costume in the heat makes me cry. :P

My mother and I used to face paint together at festivals and such.

i am going on a thursday and a friday.

i know the friday will be more crowded as more locals come then.
no school on friday.
many off work on friday
more families that are local will show up.
some of the weekends are a three day weekend.

that is why i think the friday dates will have more crowds.

on a thursday, how many locals will come to mnsshp.......they have work the next day and the kids have school. less families that are local will be attending.

i'll be at hhn the following friday, sat and sun also.
hhn is not as bad on the second weekend.
it will have crowds but not sell outs that weekend.

the big crowds will begin on wed/thur of the following week after columbus day. school out at the end of that week. that is the time i avoid.

The Tomorrowland Noodle Station is serving a buffet dinner from 5:00pm - 9:00pm nightly until the end of September 2006.

it is a trial run for the buffet at tomorrow land terrace.
we won't know until the date gets closer if that buffet will continue past sept 30.

it is STILL a good spot to meet. the majority of that seating is to the right and in front of the counter area. the side to the left that has tables is not covered.
the area closer to main street on the sidewalk does have ample room to meet at.
the garden below that area is the smoking area but many people sit there for fw all the time.

i think it is still a good spot to meet.

there is another group of people meeting over by dumbo.
that is not a good area as you do not get the full picture of hollowishes then.
you miss out on the screen pics shown on the castle then.

i always meet around caseys or the plaza and when my group is together, we move up by the statue and sit on the concrete there. that is what i have done in years past. it worked for a group of 15 easily back then.

i say go with michelle's plan and a back up plan could be the rose garden or smokers garden area to meet and then move up to main street from there.

in all the years i have used that first garden area, i have only seen 2 smokers there. it is a very large area with tables and umbrellas.
i guess not many go there as you have stairs to walk down if you come from the back way. coming from main street, it is behind the vendor stand and before the bridge going towards the castle.

last year during the free dining promo, disney opened up a mexican buffet across from POC.

so many places were full and no walk ins at resturants.
disney created a temporary buffet for those to use the TS credits.

i believe this is what is happening again for part of september.
so many resturants are full now and many can not get adrs.
the ones on the dining plan have been writing to disney over this aggravation.

disney has openend up for a limited time another temp TS set up at tomorrowland terrace.

i don't believe that TT will stay open past sept 30.
maybe they plan to reopen the mexican resturant buffet after that if patrons are still complaining on no where to use the TS. credits. just a thought

if it is 15 to 20 we can gather by the first aid/well baby care behind crystal palace. there are places there to sit to wait for others.

then we could stay there or move up closer to the castle by the statue and sit on the ground/concret area/pavement area

I was listening to the latest DIS podcast on my way in to work today, and they were talking about the buffet at the Terrance Noodle restaurant...one thing they said really caught my attention! Only the top two levels of the restaurant are open for the buffet -- the lower level with the views of the castle (i.e. our meeting spot for the fireworks) is being kept open as a walkway! So, we really shoud be okay with our original location! :cool1:
