I have planned 7 of my Disney trips without going thru anybody's package deal. Of course the DIS has been my biggest help!! ;)
Today I call AAA to reserve my rental car and by the end of the phone conversation I had signed my Disney All Star ressies over to their package deal.
Are the AAA perks worth the very few extra dollars I'm paying? The perks are:
Preferred parking.
That gold card I can use for shopping and dining at DD.
A discount meal at Planet Hollywood.

I booked with AAA, but I am saving money. I wanted to have the dining plan so the only way to get a discount was took book through AAA.
I didn't get a rental car through them (we are driving down).
I think the Planet Holloywood voucher is just for one person and you only get a choice of two entrees (I could be wrong, but that is what I read).
I believe you get 10% off at the World of Disney, but I'm not sure about the other stores.
I joined AAA just for the discount and saved more then the cost of membership.

We switched over last year I had planned 8 of our trips on my own before this... For a group of 6 adults and 1 child doing the MYW package with dining we saved over $250 of the package price that was quoted on the disney website. That didn't include what we saved using the discount card at the World of Disney. However I found it cheaper to book my rental car using codes I find on disboards on my own and not use AAA for it. We are doing it again this way this year for our magical gathering.

I booked through AAA but since I was only booking for 3 nights at a Value resort, the savings was minimal. I saved $65 over the Disney price and my membership to AAA cost me $60. I basically looked at it as a free AAA membership and not much more than that (although I heard that the Disney online quotes don't include taxes? If this is the case, then I saved a lot more than $65 using AAA).
I did not use ANY of the AAA benefits. We didn't do the storytelling, we didn't rent a car, we didn't eat at PH, and we didn't shop at any of the discounted stores from the card.
Had we not been on the DDP, we would have used the PH vouchers and probably even some of the other DTD food discounts.
Maybe some time in the next year my car will break down and I'll get some added value from this deal :rotfl2: (j/k I obviously don't want a break down just to get AAA benefits)
