I wish to lose 10 pounds by May 15.
ETA: 10 pounds lost by April 23
Now I wish to lose a total of 20 pounds by May 15
ETA: 19.4 pounds lost by May 6 (I put this in because evidently this weigh-in was just before I lost several more pounds)
Now I wish to lose a total of 30 pounds by June 1
ETA: I have lost 32 pounds and it is May 27. My new goal is to lose a total of 35 pounds by June 15.
ETA It's June 18 and I have lost 40.4 pounds, so my new Thinderella wish is for 44.4 by July 4
I joined WW on Saturday (April 1) to learn about the program and use it. I thought I'd like a place to keep tabs on this journey...remembered seeing references to W.I.S.H. in some people's signatures...so here I am.
I have more weight to lose than 10 pounds, but thought I'd start with a small goal first. I haven't read anything on this board yet so I have lots to learn I'm sure. I deliberately picked this week to start WW because it's going to be very busy for me and I tend to do better getting established in a new routine/project if I can get some time under my belt (not that's there's much room left there these days...;)) The busier I am the faster time goes by and once I'm a week into it, once I have some time/effort invested it I'll feel I'm getting somewhere. Lol...it just takes me a while to get started. I've been talking about doing this for months, so I finally put my money where my mouth is...instead of rich desserts.
On a scale of 1-10, today has been a solid 8.
We shall see...for now, I'm just glad there's a place like this available...and that there are Disers here!

Welcome, Jo!! :wave2:
You've come to the right place! You can post your food journal here if you'd like, or your exercise plans. Whatever you want. Keep on posting, good or bad!!
And check out journals, especially other WW-ers. I'm sure you'll get a lot of good ideas!
10 pounds by May 15th sounds VERY attainable!!

Thanks, Kimwim!
Today has been an easy day again so far. I had a hamburger for breakfast because I am using up what is in my cupboards, refrigerator and freezer...and that was handy. It sure used up a lot of my points, though. It's a good thing I'm not particularly hungry...and don't have much time to think about it. When I am hungry I just look what is there and have a serving, when I am hungry again...I have the next thing I find that sounds good. Lol...it's not very scientific, but I had forgotten how good a banana tastes when you are hungry...and I peeled and ate a grapefruit yesterday, too. Plain, good food, eaten when I'm hungry really tastes good! Lol...I don't know why that's such a revelation to me.
I'm looking forward to having a serving or two of plain (salted and peppered) fresh steamed broccoli when I get home...maybe I'll have some old-fashioned oatmeal later on, too. Both of those things sound really good to me now. Fresh steamed carrots, too.

Yesterday was still relatively easy, another solid 8. Today I again had a hamburger for breakfast...lol...one one more to go and maybe DH will have it when he comes home at noon.
We went shopping last night and picked up some food on the plan. I'm especially looking forward to the asparagus...I ate a whole bowl of steamed broccoli with a little salt and pepper on it yesterday and it was soooo good! I didn't know I was such a vegetable lover!
The one thing I have noticed is that when I go to bed (10-11-12 pm) I am a little hungry, but the whole family has kind of informally decided to not eat after 7 pm, so I haven't been too tempted to eat anything. I just ignore it for now...knowing that if I reeeeally wanted to, I could have something. I have to work Mama Mia! today at 1pm, so we'll see how I hold up...I'm taking diet pop along and am supposed to get a supper break...I hope they don't feed us, or at least if they do, it is something I can eat.

Another easy day...hey, I could get used to this!
Mama Mia! was frantic, but at least I know what I'm doing for the rest of the week. A zipper broke on a fast change with which I was helping...no sweat, the dancer got on in time, she just couldn't turn around! I'm working with another dresser named Pat who is great...and her brother named Berne. I had to chuckle when Berne steamed..."burn...steamed?"...although it would have been even funnier if Berne ironed. What can I say, I have a twisted sense of humor!
Today I'm making WW egg salad...and I'm planning on that asparagus! Btw, fat-free cheese is pitiful...but I guess it's better than no cheese at all. Sigh.

Welcome to the Wishboards! :bounce: Sounds like you're off to a great start. I hate fat free cheese too but I have found some lowfat brands that work for me. My favorite is Laughing Cow spreadable cheese. Its really good, and I love it on my sandwiches. You're doing great with all the veggies - thats my downfall.

I've actually grown to like fat free cheese. But I know when I was on WW I ate the 2% Kraft slices & they were GOOD, and one point each. Not bad at all!

Thanks Jane and Kimwim,
I'll have to check out both of your cheesy suggestions ;). All of us here at home are following the WW plan, although I'm the only one who is going to meetings...DH wants to lose 5 lbs, DD16E wants to lose 10 and DD16V is probably aiming for 5...this will put all of them in their optimal weight ranges, low end. Me, I'm the only one who really needs to do this...and I want to lose a lot more than those paltry numbers (grin), but will do it one day and one pound at a time. DS will be coming home from college in May and he could stand to gain a few pounds.
I didn't get my asparagus today because there was no butter in the house...and I wanted to use 1 teaspoon for flavor...I haven't used any additional fats since I started on Saturday (no time), and I heard it wasn't wise to do that. I use half olive oil and half butter for grilling asparagus. I did have 2 tofu "weiners" on bread...eeeew. Sigh...but I ate them. The thing I hate is...I won't waste them and there are at least 6, if not 8 left.
Mama Mia! was a cakewalk tonight...and now I am tired and have to go to sleep. G'nite all!

I've been so busy I don't have time for the computer anymore! I weighed in at WW last Saturday and I've lost 8 pounds. Yikes! I had no idea I was eating that many calories...I mean before I started WW.
I don't expect more than a 1 or 2 pound weekly loss from here on in, but that will still surprise Pam when I see her at the Food & Wine Festival at the end of September. She is the main host for the cooking demonstration venue at the Odyssey in Epcot. She's a nutritionist and developed the Bahama Breeze menu for Darden Restaurants and has several cookbooks out. I told her when I left last year that I was determined to get in better shape so I could enjoy a guilt-free F&WF! I'm so looking forward to seeing all my friends and the other "regulars" when it starts.
Oh...my husband lost 2 pounds, DD1 lost 4 and DD2 lost 2, so we're all on track to attain our goals.
...and Celia took my before pictures yesterday in a fruit and vegetable aisle at Hy-Vee. She demonstrates fruits, veggies and related dishes there.

Congrats on your loss!!! :thumbsup2 That's awesome! Sounds like you all are doing great!
When I was on WW I ate lite hotdogs. I think they were Hebrew National? I'm sorry, I'm not sure. But they were only 1 point on WW. The were good! I actually miss them.
Keep up the great work!!

Thanks, Kim...I found out about the lite hot dogs at the meeting when I told them about the tofu dogs. Everyone had a good laugh! I was surprised to find out there are lite (1 point) hot dog buns as well...and hamburger buns too!
I made WW egg salad this week and everyone loves it. The jello with non-fat cream cheese is a big hit here too...and it's free! So is a small or medium peach...I can't wait until they're in season. If it doesn't smell like a peach, it doesn't taste like one...so I have to wait.

Wow, Ozy, you are doing such an awesome job with this! Congratulations on your very dedicated and successful start on this journey. I think you definitely need to re-vamp your goal since your are doing so well. Maybe 12 pounds instead of 10! How exciting to look forward to showing off the healthier new you to your friends at the F&WF!
I am with others here -- don't eat foods you don't like just because they are low points. Spend a couple extra points if you have to, to keep meals enjoyable and this journey as pain-free as possible. If you start disliking what you are choosing to eat, you will stop making good choices and start eating foods that are higher in points.
So, if I may suggest some great low point alternatives to the foods you aren't enjoying? I think Hebrew National and Dietz & Watson both do reduced fat hot dogs that are wonderful. I always try to expand my entrees with condiments or free veggies to help with fullness. So, I LOVE those hot dogs with heaps of sauerkraut and mustard or pickles and ketchup. The one point hot dog rolls are great. I think Wonder makes them here. I also like the hot dogs on lite english muffins (something about the crunch -- yum!). Laughing cow light cheese wedges are a delicious alternative to regular cheese on sandwiches. I put it on whole wheat toast -- one wedge is more than enough for 2 slices. The only fat free cheese I can stand is Kraft fat free white american singles.
YUM -- peaches! What a great idea. Hadn't noticed them yet at the grocery. I will have to look for them.
Another idea -- fat free pretzels dipped in lite yogurt for an afternoon snack -- kind of sweet and salty mixed together.
As if you need my advice! You are doing so great. Congratulations again from one Weight Watching WISHer to another! :grouphug:

Thanks Keenercam,
I am loving this site because I can reference this information...so when I want to remember what brand etc...it will be written here in this thread.
I goofed today...bought (and drank one) what I thought was diet Berries and Cream soda...and it turned out to be a regular one. Thank goodness Valerie asked me why I was drinking non-diet soda, or I might have had more! Live and learn...it's nice that all I have to do to correct my mistake is count the points off instead of feeling that I "sinned"! :cool1:
The egg salad I made yesterday is gone. I only had 5 hard boiled eggs, so that's all I made. Evidently the girls liked it so well they had it for supper last night and took it in sandwiches to school today.
I went to the fridge thinking there would be 2 sevings left (I had one right after I made it)...but no dice. I made a whole dozen eggs into egg salad this afternoon so there better be some tomorrow! I can't complain though, because they're the ones making the "free" jello!
We are having a remarkably fun time working with these new choices.

Welcome, Jo! I, too am a WWer.
I see you're from Ia. City. I lived in Coralville for 4 years while finishing college, then law school. I'm originally from Burlington. I love IOWA!!! Unfortunately, my DH, also from Burlington(but went to Ia. State- boo!) HATES Iowa.
Sounds like you're doing an amazingly good job so far. Are your DD's twins?
Please, stay away from the Sterzings!! I really still crave them from time to time, but am very glad I don't live near them. On the rare occasion I see my brother who is Cty Attny in Burlington, I can easily devour a whole bag at one sitting.
Hope you're having a great week!

Hi Julie,
A fellow Iowan! (shhhhh....actually I was born and spent the first three months of my life in California lol) I see you now live in New Mexico. My DH and I will be driving through your state the second week of May. We're going to pick up DS18 from ASU and then spend a little time in Las Vegas. DH will play a little Blackjack and I'll play the nickel slots...and then some quarter ones...lol.
I AM having a great week!...and yes, our two youngest children (17 in less than a month) are identical twins.
...as for Sterzings...that's my DH's vice, not mine, thank goodness! I'm a Lay's Salt'n'Vinegar person all the way when I do have potato chips...not that I'm planning on having any in the near future...they cost too many points! Still, if I crave something I am delighted to know I can have it...that ability...that option...that control...is enough to keep me from having them.
Knowing that I can if I want to...keeps me from wanting to...does that make sense? I know myself well enough to know this is why the points system is the best option for me.

I weighed in today...didn't lose anything and actually gained .4 of a pound! It doesn't matter...I know I stayed with the program all week...and my clothes are a bit looser, so it's just a matter of time before that shows up on the scale.
This is going to be another busy week physically. I wasn't quite as active this last week because I had so much "computering" to do! Lol

My Fair lady rehearsals every evening are keeping me hoppin'
...diet is keepin' me shoppin' (for fruits and veggies)
...chiropractor is keepin' me poppin' (first time I've ever been)
...and now my eyes are droppin'
...so into bed I am boppin'.
...yawn...
HEY! anybody think we need a smiley that yawns?

I knew I was doing the program religiously, even if last week I actually gained .4 of a pound. When I weighed in this week I lost enough so that I have now lost over 15 pounds. I have reset my original "Thinderella Wish" to 20 pounds by May 15. I am keeping a running tab of how I'm doing on weight loss numbers in my first post on this thread by editing it.
I didn't actually notice what I had lost and what my weight actually was during yesterday's weigh in, but they gave me two "5 pound loss" gold stars to stick on my original "5 pound loss" bookmark, so I know I've lost a total of 15 pounds minimum.
This has been another hugely busy week. Elise went to prom so I was hemming her dress at MFL rehearsal yesterday. She looked lovely...actually more than one person thought her dress had a "mermaidesque" quality to it. If I ever figure out how to put a picture on a thread entry, I will! The ones from prom are just from a disposable camera since Joe has the digital camera at college.
As parents of Junior girls, we had to work at the Party After the Prom. Of course I was assigned to pizza, breadsticks and dipping sauces. Sigh. But I was good...down the table from me they had huge tubs of fruit, so I scored about 4 lbs of prepared, halved fresh strawberries at the end of the party! Other parents chose whole leftover pizzas, but not I...I chose strawberries!
We have load-in today for My Fair Lady at 5 pm. I am running on not much sleep since the party went from 12:30 to 4:30 am and the girls and I talked until sun up. I signed up for the third shift of load-in so maybe there won't be a whole lot left to do by then...pshfft!...yeah, as if that's ever gonna happen! Oh well, once that's done we only have to move it two more times (back out on the 30th and back in on the 6th...I don't have to help load it out after that because we'll be gone to Arizona to pick up Joe five minutes after the last performance ends.
I have to rehearse for, and then do, a Standardized Patient exam this coming Thursday and Friday at the University...yeah, I know, opening night AND I have to work until 6 pm on Friday...call is at 6:30...it will be hectic, but doable.
I have to go now...if I don't make some special dishes that are WW friendly before load-in I'll have food issues...lol
The flowering crabapple tree in our backyard is magnificent today...we're having some of the most beautiful weather ever lately. I guess Mother Nature is trying to kiss up after those tornados she sent on April 13th.

As of today I have 11 days to lose 2 pounds...then I will get my latest Thinderella wish!
Going for 20 pounds lost...by May 15th.
Still too busy to post. Turned 100 pounds of apples into different flavors of applesauce. Yum! Used the whole apple, skin and all, no sugar and koolaid powder. (I know, I know...food coloring isn't the best for a person, but it is tasty in the koolaid flavors)
Two more performances of My Fair Lady...then immediately after curtain call this coming Sunday afternoon...off to Sedona for two nights, then ASU to pick up Joe and finally Las Vegas three nights for a meeting (and some fun time too!) before heading home again. It will be a week, maybe 8 days, but WW said I can go to a meeting out there.
I'm feeling really good!

We returned from our trip on Monday, May 15. I got my wish! I went to a WW meeting in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 13. It was the end of my 6th week in WW and I had lost a total of 23.8 pounds! I weighed in on Tuesday, the 16th and here the scale says I have lost a total of 27.8.
My weight is a complete mystery to me...I do the WW program and some weeks I have lost nothing or very little...and other weeks I lose a ton...well, not a ton, but you know what I mean. I suppose from now on I won't lose much over a pound a week, if that. Anyway, it doesn't matter...all I know is I'm going to stick with the program. It certainly is working for me...and I can now fit into some clothes I couldn't!
My new Thinderella wish is to lose a total of 30 pounds by June 1...2.2 pounds in about 2 weeks. Oh...and I've lost over 10% of my body weight since starting WW.
I have to go. Tonight I am scheduled for a sleep lab to find out if I have sleep apnea. Oh...and I tried out for Eulalie MacKecknie Shinn (the mayor's wife) in another community theatre show. I'll find out this weekend whether I get the part...I'm not holding my breath...there were a lot of talented actresses trying out for that role. Sigh...oh well, if I don't make the Music Man cast another theatre group is doing State Fair. Doing theatre really helps me lose weight!

Weighed in last Saturday...gained .2 pound. Sigh. I think I'm just maintaining this week...but that's still all good, really. I didn't get the part of Eulalie so I'm looking forward to tryouts for State Fair. Both of the girls (my 17 year old twins) want to try out for State Fair too so that might turn out to be one of our "favorite memories" of Summer 2006!
I've been making some WW entrees and freezing them for future use as well as serving them this past week. I must say the stuffed peppers turned out very well...and the "free" cucumber and onions in sweet/sour red wine vinegar dressing side dish is a real hit with everyone!
I'm trying to feed my 18 year old (just returned from college) son who needs to gain a little weight all the extra staples in my kitchen that I don't use much of...lol...he's decided he's a vegetarian so I'm feeding him all my Amana noodles with fresh tomato-based sauces! Those Amana noodles are so good, but the rest of us are using all whole grain pastas...and spaghetti squash.
Today I made him a whole big panful of stir-fried vegetables and fried rice (with egg)...he loved it!

Weighed in on Saturday...lost...so as of this day I have lost a total of 32 pounds even! It was exactly 8 weeks ago when I weighed in so I have averaged 16 pounds a month since I started!
I haven't been particularly setting out to lose lots, but it is just kind of happening (although I know I have been exceptionally exact when calculating my points per day and have never gone over). It is really starting to show and I am getting rid of everything that doesn't fit/doesn't look good as I wend my way on my "Long Journey Back To Jeans".
I fel good...and enjoy my sucess every day...even when I "gain"...or am stuck for a week on the scales. For me...continuing to "be good" results in extremely surprising (to me) results all on one day, sometimes as much as a week-1 1/2 weeks down the line...but when those results register they are BIG...as in 3-4-sometimes 5 or more pounds...after having been stuck (or even going up a little) at a particular weight for a week or 1 1/2 weeks. Well, whatever works for a person, right? !!!
Anyway. I am satisfied and will continue on with WW. Lol...I (roughly)calculated it yesterday and each pound lost has cost me way less than $3 a pound with Weight Watchers. Wow...if I could have waved a magic wand and paid that amount per pound two months ago...how fast would I have done that!!!!...so for me it has been worth it big time...even though I have to pay for the program! Pay $90 and poof!...weigh 30 pounds less...well, for me it is a no brainer!

Well, here it is June 13th. As of last Saturday I have lost a total of 34.4 pounds. Lol...I'm pretty sure I've got my last Thinderella wish of 35 pounds off by June 15th.
This is a little scary...I've gotten all the Thinderella wishes I've made...but it HAS gotten a bit harder to attain them as the weeks go by. I'm tempted to wish for a total of 40 pounds lost by July 4th...but think that will be a real struggle...or not. My body hangs on to some pounds for dear life and yet other times it seems as if they just fall off. I don't know how predictable my weight loss will be in the coming weeks...all I know is I'm sticking with the program.
Also the twins and I are in a production of State Fair. Rehearsals started last night. It is typical for me to lose 25 pounds during rehearsal/performance of a show...but that was a while ago. Even though that happened for My Fair Lady last month (which is the first show I've done for several years)...I don't know if that will hold true for this upcoming musical.
Lol...I am really laughing at myself now...I'm just going to plow ahead with the program and see what happens. If I do my part...it will all be good no matter how large or small the weight loss. I'm stubborn...I should expect less of my body fat??? Lol

I weighed in yesterday (Saturday), June 17...and to my surprise I had lost another 6 pounds, bringing me to a total of 40.4 pounds lost in the last 11 weeks. A LOT of my clothes look as if I don't know how to shop. I guess this is good...I'm at an in-between stage now...too small for a lot of my wardrobe (that I've worn for the last year or two)...too large for lots of clothes I've saved because I couldn't bear to get rid of them. Hopefully I'll get past this weight level quickly so I'll have another ton of "new" old clothes from which to choose.
Mind you I'm not complaining. I feel sooo much better already!
I really owe a lot to WW. Those weekly meetings are just the incentive I need to stay on track.

Thanks, Julie...I just keep hammering away at it. I don't think I will lose anything this week, but I just keep doing the program anyway. My body loses weight all at once...even if I KNOW I have lost weight (in inches), sometimes it isn't reflected on the scale...and then a week later, sometimes two weeks later, it all falls off in one day. Sigh...good in the long run, but for the short term it's a bit hard.
Lol...gotta run, State Fair rehearsal tonight. You have a great week yourself, Julie!

Weighed in on Saturday. I had lost the 3.8 pounds I "gained" last week...and an additional .2 of a pound. This has been a hard week for me...not diet-wise, but I am so disheartened by some of the things going on around me in my life. It has been a while since I wrote anything about my progress. Today, close to 5 1/2 months after I began Weight Watchers, I am continuing to lose albeit at a much slower rate than the first months. I am working on my 46th pound. Until January 5th, 2007, I will be attending the weekly (Monday evenings at 5:45 pm) WW meetings in Celebration. It's such a nice group of people!
