Has anybody seen The Shaggy Dog?
I know it's rated PG. I assume it's OK to take my 6 year old DD.
Any comments?
Thanks

I'd take a 6-year-old without any hesitation. The movie is cute and fun.

Want to show your 6-year old a real Disney movie? Rent "The Shaggy Dog". Disney's first live-action comedy from 1959. Don't waste your money on another cheap remake of the same movie.

We took our kids to see the new movie and we've put the old one in our queue for Netflix. There's no reason not to enjoy both films. The second version was not made cheaply and it's not a remake of the first; the story is quite different. We'll treat them both as "variations on a theme" and discuss with our kids how it's possible to grow two different and successful plots out of a single strong premise.
Cheap doesn't have to refer to money.

DS and I went Fri night to see it. I wasnt expecting much but came our pleasantly surprised. It was a good movie with lots of laughs, IMO. And we were the only 2 people in there. I was thinking, this cant be good, cause if its cheesy, its gonna take a lot to get us laughing, since the crowd wont be there to egg us on.
I am one of those who hates to see Disney spawn off earlier success of its classic movies by cheapening a remake. But this one I think beats the classic.

I took 4 boys aged 8-12 to see this movie and the 8 year old and I laughed the most and the loudest. I think Tim Allen is great. He just makes me laugh! Anyway, the other boys all said they liked it but the 8 year old and I thought it was very funny!
PS I thought it was very clean, too. (Yea!)

I guess the advertising campaign worked really well.
