do you all have the Disney Visa card?
I was told I had to wait until the 4th ,and to call early because there were only a limited amount of rooms and hotels that were being offered. I am hoping the suites at the all stars are included in this deal it would save us over $1000.
If you already booked did you find you had any problems getting the hotel of your choice?
I had an e-mail this morning from my TA - Deb at Magic for Less - and she had already switched us over, and yes we had originally booked with a Disney Visa card.

When I made my reservation, the CM asked me for the first 6 digits of my credit card to make sure I had the Disney Visa card. I don't know if I could have put the reservation on another card since I went ahead and put it on the Disney Visa to get my points.

Anyone know if the Contemporary is on the "List" of hotels to choose from. I have a reservation through AAA and would LOVE to hear that the Contemporary will count towards the free dining.

I do have the Disney Visa, I did change my reservation today, and I had to cancel my family suite! I was told that it is not available to the suites, just like any other discount yet. I ended up booking guaranteed connecting 2 rooms, it actually came out cheaper but with the fridge rental it will be about the same. I moved to Movies instead of Music which I think the kids will enjoy more anyway. I was a little upset, but it saved me $539.99, so I'll get over it.

By the way, she also told me that it was 5 days free dining, which confused me...We are staying for 7 nights, so the money I am saving is not equal to 7 days of dining, but I took what I could get. I'm still searching for more info because the CM seemed confused.

Hi! just wondering if it's only 5 days of dinning do you have to buy 8 days of park tickets or can you simply buy 5 days of park and add the dinning plan

I just booked this morning for the Contemporary for the last week of September with the free dining. I did use my Disney Visa for the deposit, but the CM never asked me if my VISA was a Disney Visa. Maybe there's some way they can tell...???? NOt sure.
Anyway, it was $2230 for 4 nights at the Contemporary including 4 day tickets for 5 (3 adults, 2 kids)...oh, and the free dining of course. :yay:

I had paid with a different card. When I switched today I put another 200 down with my DV, and the other 200 was reapplyed toward the balence owed. (They said it could be refunded, but this works too)

Hmmmm. My AAA reservation is for 7 days - 6 nights 2 adults 3 children 1 room and 7 day hopper passes w/dining. It comes to $2758. I am hoping when I call on Monday to my AAA travel agent she can give me another price quote w/out the AAA discount and with the free dining and not changing anything else. I just pray that there are some rooms left at the Contemporary to use the free dining discount on!!
OOPS!!! I looked at what I still owe!! The original $ for this package is $3340!

So Im guessing you cant use the AAA room rate plus free dining, you have to pay rack to get free dining plan? For those booking deluxe resorts this may not be as great a deal???

It is definitely a better deal for folks booking value resorts, and for folks booking full rooms.

We actually changed the dates we were going to get this package. It technically is costing us about $100 more, but standard rooms were no longer avaliable at Animal Kingdom Lodge (we had to go pool view) and we added two nights to our stay. Overall, I'm really happy with this, even though I'm not technically saving any money compared to my previous reservation. I am getting the extra nights and room upgrade for the same cost as food would have been so it works for me.
It was pretty effortless to change the reservation though hubby was on hold for awhile when doing it.

Ok so what is the Free dining? We are planning a trip and with 11 of us that would be a huge savings?
Do you have to book at a certian time?
thanks

I have already made our reservations and all our ADRs for our trip the 3rd week in August. Now this Free Dining has come out. Will I have to cancel everything and start all over again? :confused3 The ADRs are where I wanted and at the times that I wanted. I would hate to loose these. Any help making me understand will be so appreciated!!!! :wizard:

We already have our trip booked for CBR. I didn't realize the promo for the dining was only good at certain resorts. Is CBR one that counts?
Can't wait to call them April 4 to switch to free dining.

No, we don't have a Disney visa. The way I understand is starting April 1, Visa holders can buy a disney package with the magic your way dining thrown in free. General public can get this starting April 4.
At least that's what I understand. But this is the first I've heard about it only being good for certain resorts.

We got Contemporary Atrium Club (12th floor concierge) and, yes, I have a Disney Visa and used it for my deposit.

Disgram,
We're going the third week in August also, and I have all my ADR's and room reservation. You don't have to change your ADRs, since these are restaurant reservations. I'll be calling on April 4th, to upgrade to the package with free dining, and then cancel my room reservation. I was there last Sept/Oct with the free dining and it was awesome. We ate at some really expensive places, like California Grill. Have a great time!!!

We are going for our wedding and honeymoon from Aug 7-Aug 13. I'm assuming it won't do any good to extend our trip one more day because Disney would only honor one night of Disney Dining for free. Just a question to see if anyone knows out there.
On a side note, we have never used the Dining Plan and we were not sure how you know how many TS, CS, and Snacks you have remaining. Do they give a receipt or something?

Anyone know if the Contemporary is on the "List" of hotels to choose from. I have a reservation through AAA and would LOVE to hear that the Contemporary will count towards the free dining. AFAIK, all Disney-owned resorts are on "the list"; there's just a limited number of rooms available for the Free Dining Package each night at each resort.
By the way, she also told me that it was 5 days free dining, which confused me...We are staying for 7 nights, so the money I am saving is not equal to 7 days of dining, but I took what I could get. I'm still searching for more info because the CM seemed confused. Hi! just wondering if it's only 5 days of dinning do you have to buy 8 days of park tickets or can you simply buy 5 days of park and add the dinning plan The MYW Dining Plan - whether paid or free - has to match the number of nights of your hotel reservation package. If you're staying for seven nights, you are required to get seven nights' Dining Plan for each person on your reservation. It is NOT tied to the number of days' park admission you purchase, however, you do need to purchase at least one-day base passes for each person on your reservation, and you need to purchase the same park pass for each person.
Ok so what is the Free dining? We are planning a trip and with 11 of us that would be a huge savings?
Do you have to book at a certian time? How do you get the free dining? Do you have to have a disney visa or something? See Mousesavers.com, or probably any of the online Disney Travel Agencies for a full explanation; the dates the free dining plan is available are limited, as are the dates when the package can be reserved. You don't HAVE to have a Disney Visa, however, cardholders can book their packages now; the rest of us have to wait until April 4 or April 6 (different sources list different dates).

Right, it doesn't appear worthwhile to make the necessary changes/additions for a single day of free dining. And yes, every time you 'pay' for a meal (using your room key, which is where the dining credit information is stored), you get a reciept showing the number of each type credit remaining.

Yes, I have had the Disney Visa card from "day one". I love to rack up Disney dollars for our trips. The CM did not ask me if I had the visa but I used it to pay my deposit so I guess he knew from the first 4 numbers that it was a Disney visa.

We called about a free-dining package on a standard room at the Contemporary and were told only garden-view room-rates and above (Tower) were included on the free-dining-plan. As the standard was at the upper-most of what we could do this year (actually more, but we were willing :bitelip: ), we couldn't do the garden rates. We're now booked at Port-Orleans Riverside, which ain't bad :thumbsup2 .
Of course, this was just what one CM said, and frankly, they're wrong often enough that it's worth calling and asking again. For us, we took it as a fateful sign to save $1000. :yay:

I got a quote from a CM yesterday for the Contemporary that was the 250/night room. I'm not sure what it was called but it's the cheapest they have there. This was with the free dining.

yup, that's the standard-view listed price ($249) for value season, which justifies my doubting the CM who told us differently.
Bottom line, call and find out, then call again. Sometimes answers from reservation CMs are like the Florida weather...wait five minutes and it may change. :teeth:

Thanks everyone. I just spoke with my AAA agent and she said she spoke with someone at Disney and I would be able to get the free dining. My agent said that I would have to wait until tomorrow (4-4) though. I did stress that I thought only a certain # of rooms could have the free dining and she didn't think it was going to be a problem at all. Guess I will have to wait and see. If she dosn't get my free dining I will be very disappointed.
I will let you all know when I do. Regardless we are going 9-20 to 10-5 no matter what!

We are going 9/10- 9/17 and staying at the WL.
My non-Disney Visa cardholding in-laws and friends are calling first thing in the morning. My TA did say that there might be phone waits as long as 2-3 hours if you call on 4/4 because that's also the day you can start booking for their fabulous new 14 day Mediterranean cruise- Just FYI...
Still worth it though for all that free food! Woo-hoo! DH is even excited this time!

I booked yesterday for a short Mother/Daughter trip. The CM did ask for my Disney Visa but not for the code.
IIRC, DCL and CRO reservation lines are totally seperate so the Med Cruises bookings and the free dining bookings will have no impact on the other. ;)

We had a AAA package with MYW, park-hoppers, and dining for our Grand Gathering already booked a month ago. We have the Disney Visa, and was able to switch to the free dining. We had written a check for our deposits, so that is being refunded. Switching saved us approx. $300 a room. Too bad we lost our room discount too...that would have been extra nice to have! :yay:
