from www.mousesavers.com (see MouseSavers for full details!)
FREE dining is coming back at Walt Disney World! Yes, for stays starting August 13 - September 30, you can get the Magic Your Way Plus Dining package for the price of a regular Magic Your Way package! This was a hugely popular deal last Fall. ONLY Disney Rewards Visa cardholders can book this package starting April 1. The general public will be able to book it starting April 4!

Just wondering, we are going 12/8 -12/18, since this expires 9/30, does that mean we have no chance of getting free dining, or other special. Do they ever run specials for that time period?? Thanks for any help! Janice

No you are not. If you rent from a member, you will have to pay for the dining. To get Free Dining, you have to book the total package from Disney.

There was a public code last year that ran 10/24 to 12/17 (I don't remember the exact end date but it was right around there). It wasn't free dining, it was a discounted room rate, but it was a pretty significant one. We saved $400 for 8 days for 2 adults and a 2 year old. With the announcement about free dining in the fall I have my fingers crossed that we'll get this deal again....

Last year we booked for 9/25-10/8 on the first day available in June. My parents decided to go about a month before the trip, and were still able to get the deal as last as Aug.
You should be fine next week. :)

Is it the same as last year, I mean... can we get just a 1 say MYW ticket to be counted as the package? (we have AP's and a DDE but this may work out better).

If it is the same as last time theen you have to have the pacakge booked all with the same tour operator and many did not sell the DDP to start with (Virgin is one that does not).
However, wait till it is open to the public and then ask them, it can't do any harm. Last year a couple of ocmpnaies passed it on with the tikcets (TCD did), but you had to order it.

yes, the regular Package penalties....30 days or 60 days fees, you would have to read the requirements. We had them on the last free dining package.

Probably not. Disney does not usually let you combine two promotions. You'll have to choose which is the best deal for you.
I may just have to plan another trip also . . .

...actually, I was concerned with calling and making ressies this morning and telling my DH [he is in upstate NY for the weekend] and letting HIM know when he gets back tomorrow. If he really doesn't want to go [he wants to go to Puerto Rico this summer] then I have to cancel, but I would be cancelling NOW, not close to the trip...

If you remember last year they ran the promotion until Jul.3rd and then ran it again until Aug. because I don't think they got as much interest as they expected. I think, though, that so many people loved it last year that they won't have the same problem this year. However, because of the dates and so many kids already back in school a lot of families just can't take advantage of the special.

No but perhaps you could extend your stay by a few days to take advantage of the offer! That's what I would do in your situation. Are you renting points for Sat/Sun too? If not, perhaps you could add a weekend prior to your trip, book a value or mod and get the free food but get longer MYW tickets to cover your whole stay. Kinda best of both worlds?!!
We're renting point too but not til the end of October, if they extend this deal we'll take it up for a few nights prior to our DVC stay.

I was planning a late August trip. Can I purchase the magic your way plus dining package for the regular magic your way package price, AND purchase the park hopper/water parks and more options, or would I be limited to the base (one park only per day) tickets? For some reason I was thinking that regular magic your way package just came with base tickets.

BTW: I was quoted $630.43 for five nights at ASMo with a one-day base ticket for two adults and one 3YO minus trip insurance. Guess I'll have to wait for the general public dates on Tuesday.

Even if the offer only comes with the base ticket, you can go to Guest Services at any of the parks and upgrade your tickets. I'm almost sure that wouldn't be a problem. Disney always allow upgrading of tickets, but never downgrading. You shouldn't have a problem. I'm sooooo jealous of all that free food that we'll miss. :lmao:

We had a 3 night room only booked at POFQ through AAA. Just got off the phone with my AAA agent. She is reprocessing our reservation for 3 nights with dining and single base MYW tickets for each of us. We will use the basic one day tickets to apply towards our AP (we did this last year also). It is just like prepaying part of our APs and getting the dining for free. I confirmed with Disney, this rate is good for packages starting at 3 nights. :cool1:  :teeth: Many many thanks to the original poster! I never got the email either.

First timer here. going to Disney 9-24 through 9-30. Help....That's me, my husband, and my four kids.....this will save me a bundle. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, can you make your own ADR's or does an agent have to do that?

You could change to two reservations. Reservation 1 for Aug 7 to Aug 12 and Reservation 2, Aug 13 to 18 (with free dining). Perhaps try to get an AAA package for the first reservation (saving 20%) and do budget dining and then do all the expensive meals during Reservation 2? You could use the MYW hoppers from Reservation 2 for a future stay maybe? On Aug 13 you could check in for Reservation 2 really early so you avail of your dining credits immediately.
Or can you just change your flights? Perhaps even with a penalty to change flights, you'd still save money?

I thought of the 2 ressies, but with having to buy the extra tickets instead of our 10 day tickets, we'd be paying over $600 more and losing the discount on the rooms. It doesn't work out to be that much of a savings for us just for the last 5 days of our trip. As for the airlines tickets, it would be a lot more to change anything on them, plus go into the start of school. Guess I will wait for AP rates and hopefully be able to go that route. Thanks for your input!!! :)

We had originally thought of going first week of Oct...but DH was hesitant. We had a trip booked for first week of December. When I told him we could save over $1,000 he changed his mind! My dtr. isn't three yet which helped also with these new dates and with the free meal plan boy was it worth it! Plus my kids will only miss three days of school so all around this is really working out. I called for ADR's this morning and got all the ones I wanted for that too...except this new Toy Story thing which isn't finalized yet... Yippee :cool1:

Don't know if someone has helped you yet or not but free dining only was avail last year through 10/4 which ended value season.
They didn't offer it any other time after that and is extremly unlikly they will offer it during December.
The time they are offering it is peak hurricane season.
Somehow I missed this thread yesterday!!! Anyway - I woke up to an e-mail from our travel agent saying our rate had gone down by $500.00 Now I know why - this is awesome!!!

Remember you only have to buy a one day base ticket for the package.
I guess you could get a room only AP rate or AAA rate for the first half of your vacation so that way you won't have to buy tickets and then do the package for the second half and just buy the one day base for that.
Or since you want 10 day tickets, break it down into 5 day tickets the first half and 5 day the second half.

Yes, that's what I was thinking too.
ciera,
According to Mousesavers Disney's prices for a 1 day base ticket are: $67.10 adult and $55.38 child. As you see the adult ticket price is less than 2 days adult dining so I think you'll come out on top splitting your reservations! And it's an investment for your next trip too - you can upgrade those tickets to whatever you want next time you go! Good luck with your decision. It must be the Irishness in me, but I would go to great lengths to get that free food. :lmao:

When I run all the numbers, (I have a AAA package 10 day tickets, dining, and resort discount on split stay BC/CSR, without that pesky 1 day ticket base they say you have to have for a split stay w/dining...) I get just about the exact amount I would pay for the new package with free dining. I guess the AAA discounts at BC and CSR and not buying the 3 base tickets at @201.30 I'd have to buy for the free dining wash out the free dining savings. If I could move our dates, I would.. I usually just book room only since the package never seems like a good deal since you're paying rack rate but now with the free dining it does seem like a good deal even if I'm not getting a room discount. :goodvibes So I know that's there's a $200 deposit, when do you have to pay the balance ? Also what are the usual cancellation policies & does anyone know if you can book your ADR's even if you just paid the deposit or do you have to wait to book your ADR's when the package is paid in full ? I think I may just go through DU since they book all the ADR's for you. I'm still a little nervous about booking during peak hurricane season but before the hurricanes were out of control we went in Sept in 2000 & then 2001 & never had a problem other than some showers in the afternoon so I'm hoping that 2006 is the same :grouphug:

Make sure you price it with just the room at rack rate and 1day base for all. Remember that once you get there, you can take that 1 day ticket and upgrade to the 10 day for everyone and you will not be spending so much on just the 3 base tickets. :hippie:

The free dining will expire at midnight the last day you check out .....but your tickets will be good for future use if you purchased the no expiration. So yes you can take two trips....just won't have the free dining for the second one.

Hi...balance is due 45 days before your trip. If you cancel after that 45 day window, there is a $100 fee. There is a $200 fee if you cancel up to 48 hours before your trip. You CAN book all ADR's before you pay fully for package. Hope that helps. :)

I was the first person to call this CM with the code so she double checked she had it all correct etc. I was able to go ahead and do all my ADR. (Silly me, it was 90 days last time we went and it changed to I could do it now... I had to SCRAMBLE to remember where everyone wanted to go!) Balance is due on mine by July 28th.
Hope that helps!

Free Dinning was just awsome last year, we really took advantage of it. I was going to go to DL this year in June, but now I am just thinking I can not pass this up. I was planning WDW for January 2007, should I switch this trips.
I am confused   but Happy

Oh man.
Is this a better deal than getting an AP rate? What about if we use the APs twice?
Ideas??
Beth :tink:
I just crunched some numbers, comparing 6 nights with free dining at rack rate vs. 6 nights at a reduced AP rate (assuming I would be able to get $25/night off a value and $40/night off a moderate). Only accounting for hotel, tickets, and food, and assuming roughly $35/adult/day for food if I'm paying for it. We already have our APs, so if we did you with the MYW free dining package, we would just buy one day base tickets, and save them to use another time. Here's how it broke down for 2 adults:
MYW Free Dining at a Value: $649.38
AP rate at a Value: $828.60
MYW Free Dining ata Mod: $1157.78
AP rate at a Mod: $1247.00
So for us, it's clear that the Free Dining is going to save us money if we stay at a value or a moderate (didn't break down a deluxe price, but it might not be a savings at all). If you're going to buy the APs just for this trip, I'd say you'd definitely save money by going with the free dining instead, but if you're talking about using them for two trips, I'm not sure.

I am trying to figure out what to do... My wife and I got married on March 13th and part of the deal was that Disney gave us free annual passes. Since we can go to the Disney again without buying park passes, we booked a deal at the Dolphin from Sept 22-30 for $129 for a Lake View room. A pretty good deal I think.
However, with the free dining option now up again, I am debating if there is any benefit in us looking into it or would there be no financial benefit to getting the free dining option staying at say the Wilderness Lodge? I think it is not worth it for us, but was wondering for those of us that have annual passes, is there any way this deal could help save us money? Especially when I have a deal for $129 at the Dolphin?

Hey Mommykids...we are booked at the BC through AAA also in September, but only for 4 nights, MYW Plus passes, no dining. Do you think I will save also, did you just call CRO and cancel the AAA package? Lot of quetions here.....Thanks!
Contact AAA...I went to my agent this morning and they fixed everything for me. I still got the AAA promotions (free dinner at planet hollywood, etc.) and I think I got the AAA rate (not sure)

hello everyone,
when this kind of discount (free dining) is available , do you think its better to have a package (magic your way plus dining ) or a room only reservation with AP discount ?
or a combination of both?(MYW plus dining first , then room only in a second resort for instance, with an AP discount)?
i know , of course , than Ap discounts are more important in deluxe hotel and we usually split our vacation (15nights) in 2 or 3 between riverside and deluxe hotel because we're 5 people.
thank you

I am so excited they decided to do this- we will be there August 18- September 1 so this is perfect! The only bummer is that we can't have a package for our entire stay- they max it out at 10 nights. Has anyone ever heard the WDW logic on why they won't allow packages longer than 10 nights? I don't just mean for the free dining but in general? We would have been willing to pay for the dining plan for our entire stay so it seems silly that they do it this way. Just curious

I got my email last night, told hubby about it early this morning and booked at 7:00a.m.! :Pinkbounc We're 2 adults, a junior and a child, 7nts POP, 7day based tickets plus dining came to $1564.37. The CM was floored, he said, "Do you know how much money you just saved??? Before I added the discount, the package would have cost $2609.83!" That's a savings of $1045.46!!! Obviously if I had actually been planning this trip, I would have gotten a AAA package to get the room discounted so the savings wouldn't have been this great, but to be sure I saved a ton of money, no finance charge and 6months to pay for it, and an unexpected Disney trip the week before school starts up again! :woohoo:

Make sure you price it with just the room at rack rate and 1day base for all. Remember that once you get there, you can take that 1 day ticket and upgrade to the 10 day for everyone and you will not be spending so much on just the 3 base tickets. :hippie:
That's true, but we actually get down there August 7, so we'll need our tickets from the 7th....I've tried every angle and just don't think it will be of benefit for us, but boy I wish it started just 1 week earlier  ...Thanks!!!

Is there anyway you could tell for sure if you got a AAA rate on the room portion of the package? From everything I've read on the boards, you pay rack rate to get this particular package...

Just applied for VISA off Disney Website, booked package and then called WDTC to apply code. I got the following:
Sept 16-23 Wilderness Lodge Woods View
2 Adults, one child
7 day park hopper packages
trip insurance
$2542.00 w/free dining.
The original package price off wdw site was $2712.00 so I got a discount on something, just not sure what!

We had to do the night of the 12 seperate and I know that was AAA rate (95 dollars)
I don't know if the rest of the package was AAA rate, but I'm sure someone with more knowledge might know, here are the stats on everything not including the first night:
5 nights AS Music (standard room)
6 days MYW Park hopper expiring (no water parks)
Dining for 5TS, 5CS, 5snacks
$940.26
BTW Our original was 5 nights, 6 day PH with dining through AAA for 1358.26 (if I rememer correctly rack rate was 1442 and change)
***EDITED to say I typed the stats in to WDW website for the 13-18 with just room and tickets and it is 1062 so some kind of AAA rate did apply!!! Extra savings!*** :cloud9:

We also booked All Star Music, 3 nights, 1 day basic tickets (he's got a pass, I have leftover days on another ticket) through AAA for $398.94 total. So, not only do we get free dining, but we'll be there for the first weekend of the Food and Wine Festival! (Only three nights because of work, and we're going for 8 days in July! Off site. No codes. Darn.) But NOW I can't complain - a second trip! Like the family on that commercial "I'm too excited to sleep."!! :woohoo:

Could anyone here give me an idea of what the cheapest price would be for 2
Adults 1 Child age9 for just 3 days at a value resort??
We are possibly coming down for a cruise later that week and really wanted
to take our DD to the parks but the additional money made us rule it out.
If we could get a really good deal with this free dining we might be able to
fit it in. We probably won't be back to Florida for a long while and I just hate
the idea that we are right there to take advantage of WDW----maybe this
could make it happen----it would be a great surprise add on for our DD's
birthday on 8-12.
What about a moderate resort would it be alot more than the value???
Thanks for all your help --just trying to get an idea if I should even call on
Tuesday or not depending on how less we could do the 3 nights for. ;)

:mickeyjum Does anyone know whether or not they will let you book more than one discounted package? We were planning on being there for 13 nights and you aren't allowed a package for more than 10. Original plan was arrive August 18. August 19 do grocery shopping and have some pool time. August 18-20 would be room only reservations with AAA discount. Our package would start August 20 and go through August 30 and we would have 10 day park hoppers and dining plan. We would check back in from august 30- September 1st for a room only AAA discount. The new plan would have us check in August 18th for one night AAA discount room only. Then we would check in August 19-29 for our package with ten day park hoppers and free dining plan. Then we would check in August 29 through September 1 for a three day package with a one day park ticket. September 1 we would head home as planned. Now if my math is right and they will let us book two discounted packages we would be spending approximately $200 less than our original package and that would cover our whole stay plus we would have the dining the whole time. Which would be, in a word, magical pixiedust: Now the two big questions are- will they let us have two different discounted packages? If they do and we decide we just want to rest during our last three days can we save the one day ticket or is it tied to our dining and room and thus expires on check out day? How does that work? I am really hoping this works out for us!!!! How cool is this?!?!?!

Yes you can book two free dining packages if you can get them. Your one day ticket will not expire so you can save it if you would like to do that. Your plan sound perfect, now if you can just get the free dining on the 4th! sounds like you would be saving a heavy amount of change. Why not call now for the free dining and tell them that you just applied for the Visa card? Get it prior to going. I have heard of many people who are doing it that way.
Please, I need help/advice....
First.... :woohoo: free dining :thumbsup2 I booked 7 nights at CSR starting on Sept. 30 and saved some $ :cheer2: We already have APs, so my question is about the one day ticket I purchased, for each member of our family (DH, DD, DS and I). How can I save this ticket to use later? Is it attached to your room key? Does it expire after our stay ends?
What I ideally want to do is use our APs for the trip and then use the one day tickets for our family later, at either WDW or DL (I heard you could use the WDW tickets at DL...but APs are only good at the place they are from). Any help/advice is much appreciated..... :goodvibes

One day tickets do not expire, ever. So hold on to it and use it ore upgrade it in the future. I heard that they will honor yousr WDW tickets in DL, since WDW tickets are more expensive. It does not work the other way around. No DL tickets in WDW
Thank you Kim and cgbsilver@hotmail.co ....but what do the tickets look like at WDW. Once, at DL, we used paper tickets that they gave us when we checked in. Since then, we have had APs at DL and then at WDW...so I am not sure how the tickets come. When I check in, will I get a set of paper tickets or is it attached to my room key? if it is on the room key, do I save it and would it be non-transferable? Thank you again.

The room keys and tix are usually ONE thing - they are plastic 'credit card-like' cards. I suppose you could explain to the CM at check-in that you want them separate, so you can have the 1-day pass put away for safe-keeping....

You can get the quote yourself. Just go onto the Disney website and get a quote for a MYW package for one adult, one teen in one room at Pop or wherever. Add the number of tickets you want. (You do not need to buy one ticket for each night, only one ticket per person is required to get free dining.) Don't add dining to the MYW package. When you get your quote, just double it for two rooms.

I was so excited when I got online this morning and saw free dining again! We are going to switch our Dec. trip to Sept. (14th-244th)so we can take advantage of free dining again. Of course with our family, we only have the option of staying at POR. Wish me luck!
Edited to add: Yahoo! We got it! Yay!!!!!!  :cool1: :cheer2: :woohoo: :bounce:

I got it! I just booked September 1 - 4 at Pop w/preferred view for 2 adults and 2 juniors for $581.52 with one day base tickets.
The castmember I got on the phone was the Best! In all my stays, I've never booked a package. She understood everything that I was trying to accomplish and helped me so much.
I listed my 9 year old as 10, so that he would get the adult menu. She confirmed that the one day base passes don't expire, and that we can apply that $268 towards 4 new Seasonal Passes in the whenever future. (We all have current Season Passes to use.)
So, basically we are staying for 3 nights and eating very well for $313.52! I wasn't going to book this offer, but my Dh actually got excited about it when I brought it up. The offer of free food at Le Cellier was apparently to much for him too pass up! :teeth: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I just have a few concerns, can anyone help clear them up?? We have ap's, can we really only buy a 1 day ticket each and get free dining for the whole stay? Should I book my room tonight just to hold it or will there be rooms available tomorrow?? I don't want to get my hopes up........

overplanner, Hi! Yes, you get the dining for each night of your package stay. You do not have to buy theme park admission for every night of your stay- only one. Just a one day base ticket per person (over 2 years old) is required for the MYW package. You don't have to use that ticket during your stay, either. You can save it for the future and use your AP for admission.
I would certainly think there will be packages available tomorrow, but book something now if it will help you sleep better. :)

I made reservations back in January for four adults and two kids for a September 23-30 stay at Pop Century resort. I have the dining plan on my reservation. I was wondering if I would be able to call and get the free dining plan that is being offered. If so what does that entail?? This stuff is all new to me. Would love to be able to save that xtra $$$. :thumbsup2
Thanks in advance!

Hi Speedemon21! Just call tomorrow and have them apply the discount code to your reservation.
If there are packages available for your room type, resort, and dates then it will be no problem. Pretty much the worst that will happen is if there are no packages available for your specifics, you may have to change one of the variables. You're outside of your 45 day penalty window, so you and the WDW operator can make whatever changes neccesary without any problems.
You're going to save a ton! :)

Thank you so much dandave for your reply to my post. I just called to see if I could modify my existing reservation to include the FREE DINING. We had the dining plan anyway, but hey free is tastier isn't it? I am happy to say by changing the ressie, we saved $1300 for four adults and two kids. I am so psyched!! Now I really cannot wait to go!

Congrats Karen! I am waiting for an email from my TA. Actually I am thinking of calling and seeing if the change has been made, although I am confident it has, I dunno I guess I am nervous seeing as it is 2:30 and no word. I suppose she is very busy applying it for everyone eligible though so who knows. How long is standard for a TA to get back to you? This one actually knows what she is doing unlike my prior dealings with AAA where a lot of the times I knew stuff before they did. :rotfl2: Always nice to call to find out more info on something only to find out you're the one who alerted the office. Hello Caribbean Beach closing. LOL :rotfl:

Good luck to everyone waiting on their AAA agents! I'm sure you guys will be fine. I was on edge all morning waiting for mine to call me back and I even called her around 10:30.....she said she was on hold and not gotten through yet so they must have to wait in line like the rest of us. She called me back about 45 minutes after that and our ressie was all switched over to the free dining. No problems! :wizard: $1790 saved off our original AAA package. Not too shabby! :thumbsup2 :sunny:

Why do you have to make new ADR's ? Just wondering because all mine were made two weeks ago. I only had to give my name and phone number when I made my ADRs so I would think that they wouldn't change...right?...anyone know if that is correct?

This is great! I had just figured out how to do dining with a split stay, since I was trying to save $$ by putting part of my stay in a moderate (Thank you SAMSA for your help), this was last week, but now, today, I open up these boards which I have not looked at in days & there is FREE DINING! Yay!
So of course I immediately called & booked my whole stay at a villa, instead of only 4 days. Now staying 8 nights 9/30 - 10/8 at OKW. & eating for free.
Boy is WDW in trouble now, my whole family likes to eat out, the reason we are going at this time is due to FALL BREAK overlapping the Food & Wine Festival.

I am going to have to work some numbers... I got in on the Dolphin deal for $129. To stay at an equivalent Disney hotel will be at least $209 a night. That means I would be paying $80 a night for the "free" dining plan. Not sure that is worth it.
Any thoughts?

How many people?
How do you usually eat?
Would you consider a value resort?

Its going to be my wife and 18 month old daughter. We love value resorts normally, but really want to avoid riding around on the buses with our daugter as much as possible. That is why we really wanted to stay in the BC / YC area. I never considered the Dolphin until I saw that deal.
We usually do eat a pretty good dinner every night. Pretty much snack the rest of the day. I think if I could talk myself into a value, this would be worth it, but its not worth it for a deluxe, especially not for the BC.

Does anyone know if they are offering the free dining package for any of the family suites at All Star Music? :confused3
While I'm asking, is it even cheaper to get the family suite or connecting rooms at All Star Movies, which I've already got.
Thanks,

You're right, it's not a better deal at values vs. deluxe, but penguins1 has a seperate issue.
penguins1 already has booked the Dolphin at $129. Switching to a deluxe w/free dining would be considerably more - thus "paying" for free dining. This could be avoided if switching to a value.

I inqired about this too, I was told on 3 different occassions the suites were not included in the deal. So I booked 2 connecting rooms and it came out to be cheaper. 79.00 per night for each room @ $158.00 vs. $169.00 for the suite. the only thing missing is the kitchenette, however, I get 4 double beds vs. the twin pullout chairs.

I just saw this thread this morning and ran right out to AAA to book a trip for September. The total came to a couple hundred dollars more than what I had calculated-- can anyone tell me if this price I was quoted sounds accurate:
6 nights AKL savanna view
2 adults, 3 children (1 of them under 3 years)
6 day base tickets
Free dining plan
Total with AAA discount $2698
When I figured it out at home, this is what I got:
Resort $285/night, 6 nights: $1620.65 (savannah view, 15% AAA discount, includes 11.5% tax)
$215.13/adult, $174.66/child: $779.58 (6 day base tickets including tax)
Dining: free
Total $2400.23
Nearly a $300 difference. I double-checked and the quote is without insurance. What could the reason for such a big difference be? Thanks.

You dont get the AAA discount if you get Free Dinning. Thats the difference.

04-10-2006, 11:42 AM
Is that the reason? Gee, you'd think that Disney would have mentioned that when my AAA agent and I were questioning the price. I was sitting right there at her desk while she was on the phone, and the CM never indicated there was no AAA discount. Thanks for clarifying!
