JFK open when?

My flight is at 7:30am. That means I have to be there 5:30am. Are they open already? For the first flight out, do they really take 2 hours to check everything?

I always assumed JFK was open 24 hours a day.

I was wondering the same things as our flight is 7:45 am. Someone suggested that it might take a long time b/c they might not be fully staffed at that hour so you wait the same amount of time. Does anyone know if this is the case?

As it's a major international airport, they've got flights coming in and leaving at all hours. I know I've left from there at 6:00 am, and come in after midnight. I wouldn't hazard a guess about yours being the first flight out and whether or not there will be long lines of people yet.

The airport is open 24hrs, but the ticket counters aren't manned at all times. I have been there at the break of dawn and stood in line for an hour waiting for the ticket counter to open. I have to be at LGA at 4:00 am for my flight, I'm not going to be a happy camper if the ticket counter is open.;)

Well. I am thinking about arriving at 5am for my 7:30am flight. Sounds really ridiculous, but I'll get mad later. Look at the bright site.... the cab ride to JFK will be speedy at 4:30am!
