On our next trip to WDW my family (me, dh, ds5 and dd5) will be taking my mom, age 80. She probably will spend a good amount of time in the room so I wanted her to have a nice balcony. I understand that the balconies at the BCV can be small. Do some one bedrooms have larger ones? I wouldn't mind a nice view either, but we primarily want her to be able to sit out there and put her feet up and relax. I'd also like to be close to SAB, too, but that's down on the priority list. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Maybe for this trip it'd be better for you to try to get a one-bedroom at OKW? The balconies there are much larger.

If a large balcony is the most important, then make that your only request after your smoking preference.
The more requests you add to a ressie, the harder it is for the room assignor to meet them.
So request non-smoking, large balcony, and leave it at that.
If your preferences permit, I will also say that OKW does have larger balconies. And I am a BCV owner who loves BCV. So take that for what you will.

So how much size difference is there in the balconys of the BCV 1 bedrooms? I can't believe it would be that much different. Compared to OKW, all the other DVC balconys seem small to me.

Some of them are quite small - about as wide as the sliding glass door and about 3 feet deep. Others are essentially the entire width of the room. I believe that most of the wide balconies are on the second floor, but i believe there are some on the fourth floor too depending what section of the building you are on and which side of the building as well.

The balcony we had last year in our Handicapped BVC studio was absolutely HUGE. It was on the second floor on an inside corner overlooking the quiet pool. Hey, it's actually partially viewable on the right side in all5ofus's picture. :cool1:
It was definately bigger than 10x12 and it was the only balcony that wasn't cut into 2 or 3 pieces via a divider. The balcony was great spot to rest and the kids loved spreading out and coloring.

Wow, that *is* huge! How nice!
Thanks everyone for your help. I had heard that there are some balconies that aren't big enough for a couple chairs, so I thought I'd ask for opinions.
We are planning on spending at least 1/2 our trip at the BCV but are on a waitlist for a few of the days. If those don't come through, we'll try to stay at another DVC resort. This is our first DVC trip and I wanted to try out our "home" resort first, but we're excited to try them all!!

Here is an example of a 1-BR with a large balcony, that we stayed in last April.
