Dear Tracey from one daughter to another who mom became sick in one instant. I know what you are feeling and going through. If you need anyone to talk to just pm me and i will send you my number you can call anytime. If tracey is not keeping up with the board at the time if someone wants to get this message to her i would greatly appreciate it. Cindy p.s. we are doing my mom's memorial party next weekend. That was her wishes Maragarita anyone
For those of you who don't know Tracy's Mom was diagnosed with a terminal illness yesterday and was given approximately six months. Tracy posted today that one of her Mom's final wishes is to get tickets to the Oprah show. I have been trying to figure out what we could do to get make this happen....
I would suggest that all of us write a letter on behalf of Tracy's mom. I am at work today- but I would be more than happy to write a form letter tomorrow that everyone could just cut and paste into their browser. You would have to register on the site so you can email. If people would be willing to email them- perhaps if there were many emails, we would have a better chance?
The studios are pretty close to the hospital- so if worse comes to worse, I'll hoof over there one day and plead our case. Also- if we were able to get tickets- would anyone want to help chip in for hotel rooms for Tracy, her Mom, and her sisters? However, I might make T book the rooms, so she can get the travel agent. :rotfl:
Thoughts, suggestions, comments?

Hi everyone. Just checking in to let you I am reading. Thanks everyone for the words of support. Mom started radiation yesterday. The way they have to move her around made it pretty painful so she was up most of the night. Hopefully it will get a bit better as the treatments progress. Right now I am splitting my time between home and here (here on weekends) so I feel like I'm running ragged, but reading the boards gives me an escape!!
Thinking of you today Cindy! I'll have a margarita in your mom's honor :)

Hey Tracy,
I understand about those impossible positions. My mom went thru a few months of Rad therapy after a few months of chemo. All, thankfully, went well for her. JUst being there is a great support and relief for her. My mom finally moved within a mile of me and it has made all the difference. She is doing great now and looking forward to her 86th birthday! We will all keep you both in our hearts. And DO take out some time for YOU. As a 'sandwich' person, watching over mom and daughter and granddaughter living with us, I know how important that is. Even if you take an hour and a half walking thru Target at 8 pm it is somehow renewing. (yep, I've done that...I did feel so much better..didn't buy but one or two things, but it was empty and I could walk all the isles without people being there)
Do take care and let me know if I can be of any help.
Mari

Ken, thanks for asking. She is half way to her goal!!!!:thumbsup2 I am so excited for her. Yesterday's training ride was 53 miles. God bless her tush, legs and back! No more road rash.
The race is on Aug 18 in the Santa Barbara, Ca area. Lauren and I will tag along for support....and for me to drive home on Sunday!!!:lmao: Just to have a few days away from the big city rat race...no pun intended...I'm certain will be renewing.
Thanks again for your support and thank you everyone who has so generously sponsored Allison.

Also, we are having a neighborhood party next Sat nite (so glad it is Sat) and I was tellling our neighbor about the vanilla martinis. Did you post the receipe or was I just dreaming? If you have it, could I get it from you? I do think my neighbor will be eternally grateful!
Hope all is well with y'all.....Tracy's mom, Kpros, Christina...could you pm me with an email and I have some great pix to send you!

Hi Mari
Shari and a number of others are doing the 1/2 marathon on Monday. We will be at the parks on Sunday and will have to leave right after the race on Monday.
The Cool Breeze is just a training ride for me. The fundraising event I'm doing is the Arthritis Ride from San Francisco to LA. The link to that is below in my signature area.

Hello everyone!!
Just need some warm, fuzzy thoughts and prayers for Lauren. She has been sick again (!?!?!?!?!):confused3 so now they want to do a lymph node biopsy and the doc figured while she was out, he'd remove her tonsils...they are just sespools of bacteria anyway. She has a pattern now for a year....every 4-5 weeks, fever, malaise and just feeling crummy for about 4-5 days and then she's fine. Very puzzling. They have ruled out most all of the nasty bad stuff. Some think it's chronic mono...you know those kindergartners....can't trust a one!
Seriously, she is going to have this done on Thursday. She'll be home recuperating for a week and hopefully back to somewhat 'normal' after that.:thumbsup2 We would all appreciate warm thoughts, prayers and hugs.
Thanks a bunch,
Mari, Allison, Raleigh and especially Lauren!!!:grouphug: :flower3:

Thanks Mari, mom is doing better than last week. She is finally able to eat again. The doctors finally found the right combination of pills to help with the nausea. She'll finish up the radiation therapy on Thursday and we will meet with the oncologist to talk to him about chemotherapy. The most stressful part for me is living in two houses. I spend three to four days a week up there and three to four days a week at home. It's only 1 1/2 hour drive and it's not bad now (no snow :) )

Mari: congrats on completing your 5K and the scrapbooking. I am very impressed! I don't scrapbook myself, but can certainly appreciate all the time and effort it requires and am amazed that you have already finished!
Tracy: glad to hear your mom is finding medication that makes it more comfortable for her. Been there, done that myself exactly 10 years ago. We ended up having hospice come to my home and in as well as those things go, we ended up having a very positive experience. The hospice workers are a very rare breed of very special people and really did everything in their power to make a smoothe and comfortable transition.

I should also add that mom is not totally incapacitated. This in a way makes this more difficult. I think she wants to prove that she is not sick by doing too much. She hasn't left the house except for doctor's appointments, but she does the laundry and dishes (when we leave her alone for a short amount of time) and then she's exhausted and sore. How can we convince her to stop doing things before she gets tired?
We have talked about hospice and do intend to get them in there when it gets to be too much for my sister and I.

07-17-2007, 10:55 AM
Actually, she's probably better off being a little more active, even if it does tire her out. For one thing, it will take her mind off what she is going through and if it does get her tired, it may help her to rest better. As long as she's not doing anything dangerous like driving or going out alone, it's probably a good thing.
I know you've been very busy and have lots on your mind, but I wanted to order some of your photos from Webshots to augment my own collection. I tried to purchase them from your site but I think i need to be "invited." If you get a chance, could you please send an invitation to my personal email so i can order some of the photos. Ellen,
PM me with your email and I'll send you a link to the Kodak gallery where I have my favs. I took 1434 frames and whittled it down to about 250....but I keep printing out more for the scrapbook. As for Lauren, her surgery is tomorrow, Thurs, at 11 AM PDT. As soon as I get home from work, I'll email the board on how she's doing. Allison didn't want any company at the hosp, I offered and so did our pastor, Pastor Holly. Nope, goin' it alone. Allison has had about 14 surgeries....all but one relatively minor...eyes, ears, knees. So both of us are well accustomed to waiting rooms............esp ME!

Rita,
Just crazy. I purchased 3 scrapbooking kits on the ship and I'm almost out of the pages and Lauren has helped me use up the stickers!!! You are so kind to offer your memories to me, but I'm afraid I couldn't do them justice...ARE YOU NUTS???? :crazy2: I have more than enough to keep me busy. I started out with the nightmare in London and then follow that by all the excursions from Barcelona to Villefranche. That took 25 double-sided pages. I included excursion tickets, any small paper reminders and of course pix and stickers. Some of the pix I did highlight with secondary colors. Next what I am going to do is all the meals with pix of the menu covers and the candid shots of dinners with friends, drinks in the bar with friends, drinks by the pool with friends....ahhh...the memories keep flooding in my mind...no cracks needed from this p-nut gallery!!! I will end up the scrapbook with various candid shots with characters....Disney and Human..Sandy, Deb and Linda to name JUST a few!:lmao: :jumping1:

[QUOTE=poconoboatniks;19804407]Mari,
Is this the day? I will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers.
I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to try a digi scrapbook or traditional. I'd love to see some of your pages.
Tracy,
Our thoughts are still with you guys.
Have a great day all
Ellen[/QUOTE
I've done both digi books and traditional. I opted for traditional this time because I have other items I wanted to include..vouchers, museum tickets, notes from the ship, etc. I may yet do a digi book just to be able to take something small to share outside the house...the scrapbook is just too Big!
I will take a few pix of the pages in the next couple of days and I'll put them on the Kodak site.
Take care, Mari

I should also add that mom is not totally incapacitated. This in a way makes this more difficult. I think she wants to prove that she is not sick by doing too much. She hasn't left the house except for doctor's appointments, but she does the laundry and dishes (when we leave her alone for a short amount of time) and then she's exhausted and sore. How can we convince her to stop doing things before she gets tired?
We have talked about hospice and do intend to get them in there when it gets to be too much for my sister and I.
Tracy,
My mom did the same thing...except she lived 4 hrs away and I couldn't help her too much...now she lives .7 of a mile from me and I'm much happier! Let her do whatever she can. Her body will tell her when to stop. She still needs to feel like a productive person in life. Let her do it. Even perhaps ask her to help you to do something....something she can do perhaps sitting down..and let her know it would REALLY help you out. She feels needed and not such a 'burden' as they usually feel. To us, it is not a burden, but an act of love and appreciation. I have given my mom some books that I really liked...she is very religious and I have a few spiritual books and some on healing. She really likes those kind of books, and then we can sit and discuss them. I enjoy is as much as I think mom does!
Take care and hang in there. Hugs and prayers are with you.

 Hello to our lovely and wonderful disboard family!:grouphug: ,
Lauren came thru surgery just wonderfully. Mom, Miss Sara, her Sunday school teacher, and Pastor Holly were there at her bedisde for her!!! All went well and the doc said that the tonsils and adnoids were horrible and so icky and infected. He is certain this has been the root of all the problems. She's upstairs in mommie's room watching cartoons, eating push-pops, gatorade, and icecream!!!I asked her how she was doing and she said 'good'. They gave her versed....a wonderful mind altering drug and Allison said that she was just hilarious....kinda like a funny drunk but a six year old who has had some goofy juice. If I can figure out how to post a pic, I will.
Thank you all for your ice cream thoughts and warm fuzzy prayers. I means an awful lot to me.
Now I do have one other request. My mom saw the doctor yesterday and she found 'something' in one of her breasts. Mom is a lung and colon cancer survivor and now she's a bit worried about this. She'll have a mammogram and ultrasound soon and hopefully that will give us some clues. Please keep her in your thoughts.
How's it goin' Tracy? Hope you are hanging in there!!!

Digiscrapbooks are great. I did a beautiful for our son's wedding and I am really proud of it. They are not hard to do, but they are time consuming and in front of a 'puter for a while. Also, there is no room to really customize them...ticket stubs, cards, post cards, notes from DCL, cute notes from the disboard...etc. You must do one at some time because they are really impressive and much easier to cart around.
Thanks for the samoa...careful of the coconut...it might get caught in her ex-tonsil site!:rotfl2: !

We had some friends over last weekend and tried to duplicate the vanilla martinis. If you use the exact ingredients, it will be a VERY expensive drink, which is probably why DCL does not offer it on the menu. Around here, Galliano, Amaretto (the good kind), and Absolute Vanilla are each about $23-$25 a bottle. Our local ABC store did not even carry White Godiva so we had to use some other form of white chocolate liquer. We also got the cheaper Amaretto. We substituted a French vanilla coffee creamer for the vanilla ice cream mix because I have no idea where to get that. The martinis were good, but not as decadent as the ones on the ship. Everyone else seemed to like them, but they they just seemed to be missing that pizaaz. I guess I'll just need another cruise to get the real thing.......

Hi
The AVP beach volleyball tournament was OK - but not great. He won his first match and then lost his second match to the eventual tournament winners. He then won his third match, but lost the fourth match (double elimination). So he finished in 13th place.
Another tournament in two weeks in Chicago.
Thanks for asking!

Ken,
We were reading about the touney in the paper. Allison was invited to play on the US Navy volleyball team that travels the world playing volleyball and has had olympic hopefuls on it. She declined so that she could go on WestPac with her ship.
Now, I have a question to ask everyone...I'm doing my scrapbook and I thought I was a diligent photographer, but I failed. I have about 5 or 6 nights of menu covers. Did anyone get a photo of all of them? If so, PM me and I'll send you my email address.:confused3

Well, you could try and talk to someone on one of the future Med cruise threads and see if they would bring some home for you. Or even better, find someone on the August repo - that way they might not have to worry so much about luggage space. There are several people from the May repo also doing the August repo back.

Funny you should ask that. I just wrote DCL to see if I could purchase any more scrapbooking kits as I have just about used the 2 that I purchased on the ship. He said, no, they are exculsively on the ship. rats.:confused3 Maybe if you do find someone that will bring some back, I'll see if they will bring one for me. They had 3 different packages: one specific for the Med, one for 2007, and one specific for the cruise line. The med and 2007 packages worked:smickey: the best for me. The last one was generic DCL....the wonder, castaway cay, etc. Also, just some generic Disneyland scrapbooking kits would work. I dove into mine as I was running out of pages that I wanted to use. Good luck. Boy, if could, I would love to find someone to bring back a couple of more Stantons from Provence. My husband and I absolutely fell in love with the 3 that we purchased. We can't help but smile and reminisce about the South of France and how much we loved it. What beautiful memories we have!!  If fall else fails, one of my coworkers is going to the so. of France in Feb....one way or the other, I'll get my Stantons!!!
Good luck and if you cannot find any thing...I also looked on disneyshopping.com with no luck...I live 20 min from Disneyland and I'll be happy to go there (ok ANY excuse will do!) and send some to you. Just let me know..and that goes for anyone else, tool:goodvibes

Thanks for asking. Yeah the icky part seems to be subsiding. With Breighton I had morning sickness for 3 days... with this one... I was sick until just this week...15 weeks in! UGH! Hopefully it stays away. We are eagerly awaiting September so we can find out the sex...then the work begins. Shopping (if it is a girl! FINGERS CROSSED!), name picking (got a few good ones on the burner, gotta keep the name Different) and all the other baby things....
Breighton moved to a "big boy room" this week and we will start a quick minor remodel of his old room when the weather cools down a bit. We have to replace a ceiling due to an OLD water leak from before we moved in. Shouldn't be too much work.
Nowhere near the stress of when I was preggers with Breighton! :) More nerves this time... how will I cope with a two year old and a newborn! Ugh! :) We will work it out! :)

Mangia Mangia is a stand-alone restaurant. The owners are from Sicily, Guiseppe and Paulo Cefalu....sound familiar..Cefalu? Anyway, they are brothers and they have built up this restaurant from scratch. The food is amazing! I have NEVER ordered something that is less than superb. If you are ever out here, we'll take you there!!!

Hey girl,
Hate to tell you, but my book is finished. just need to put in the captions. I also made a digi-book and a calendar on shutterfly. You know, the best place I have found for scrapbooking is either JoAnn fabrics (#2) or Michael's crafts (#1). Also the Disney store is great. If you are having problems finding disney related pages please let me know. I will be near Michael's (spitting distance) on Wed and I can go the the world of disney tues or thurs and pick up some scrapbooking packages and send them to you. I would be more than happy to do it. I just LOVE to relive this cruise. :cloud9:
When are you coming to Disneyland? Let me know and I would be thrilled to see you....if you want....anniversary and all. We can get a hold of miles to go and eat at Mangia Mangia and dream all over again!!! Guissippe would be thrilled to have us!!!:grouphug:
Take care and do let me know what I can do to help. I mean it!!!

Tracey! You actually made me feel better about myself!:thumbsup2
I don't feel so alone now! I have to finish Mexican 2005 cruise And 2 trips to Disneyland AND I know I have 2 upcoming trips- annual anniversary trip to DL and we're now members of DVC and "going home" next May!!
AND we're not even memtioning the MED!!
I dont even bother to scrap anything but Disney- I dont have time:rotfl2:
Wish we could use that pixie dust and get us all together and just scrap!
My fave scrap store closed and you all know Im terrible on the computer, so if any one else like Lori has any fave scrap sites, let me know!
In the past week or so, Lauren has recieved several great postcards and I just wanted to thank all of you!!

Hey, I will be in Maryland (Marlbourough) Sept 26 until Oct 1 or 2. If you can make it there, I'll help. I am at a conclave, convention and continuing education seminar. Usually free in the evenings.

Oh brother. I guess I better get moving. I am so not creative....scrapbooking is a struggle for me, but I really want to capture the memories. I have actually progressed to moving all of the supplies and pictures onto the dining room table - now I need to sit down and do something with it. Wish me luck and perserverance.

Well, I have all of my stuff from the West coast 05 cruise in a big rubbermaid and now this cruise in another rubbermaid and 6 other rubbermaids all labeled. This winter is going to be less hectic than the past few years so I have it slated as the entire winter project. Besides work, remodel kitchen, finish Ph.D, run DD all over town for classes etc, etc, etc. But it is the winter project because the rubbermaids now take up too much room!:headache:

Rita,
If you go to the Disneyland website, and find the link to Disney pins, they take you to this website (official disney) and have all the lastest, soon to be released and all sorts of other pins. I get to it thru the annual passholders link.
Before Lauren was in school, we would go once a week, but school sure does put a crimp in our style!!! I just love to people watch, go thru the shops and take in a ride or two. I do bring my own eats.
Also, scrapbooking....thought of two more websites...one is 'Hot of the Press' and the other is 'Hershners"...I think that's right. google scrapbooking and disney and you should get a few sites.
Take care, Mari

Howdy hi!
I saw a new scrapbooking pack at DL on thursday. It had something to do with the Magic of Disney....no ship, but some pages with the starry outline of the sorcorers apprentice on it and some very nice stickers and frames. That is the only new one I saw. Had a great time....the line for Nemo and the subs was ridiculous!!! I never found either the end or the beginning. That one is a definite wait til school is in session and THEN I'll check out the line...if I can find which way is up!:boat:
Anyway, let me know if you might want something like that.

Hello everyone.. Jenn here!
I talked to Tracy a little bit ago, she is doing as well as one could expect. It will be a rough couple days thats for sure. Services for her Mom are going to be a visitation on Sunday night and a service on Monday. The funeral home is Feldner-Ritchay in Nekoosa, WI. In lieu of flowers they are requesting any donations go to the UW Cancer Center in Wisconsin Rapids. If anyone needs her address to send a card, PM me. I just wanted to say thank you to all of you! Thank you for your offers of prayers, pixie dust and support. Thank you for your virtual greetings, mail greetings and in person visits. Thank you for your phone calls to let me know you care. And thank you for your condolences by discussion forum, email, phone or by mail. It has meant so much to me!
You can never have too many friends and I have been blessed with so many of you!
Today my mom would have been 66 years old. Today also would have marked 45 years that she and my dad were married. They are together today. My mom was an amazing woman. I always knew it, but what really meant so much to me was when her friends would tell me how proud she was of me and my sister and when she would say great things about us to Debbie and I. I would simply reply back "How do you think we got this way?".
Tonight we are getting together with family (some of whom I am planning to surprise at Christmas with a trip on this cruise) to celebrate. Mom would have wanted it this way. I hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!!

Greetings friends!!
Just wanted to say hi:flower3: and to let you know that we had a terrific weekend sweltering at Disneyland for the half-marathon, 5K and kids' race.
On Sunday, I did the 5K....it started at 7 am and was already in the 80's and the humidity was about the same....tropical storms in the south...wretched things. I had a fantastic time running thru Disneyland and DCA. All the characters were out cheering us on! It ended up at 104 in Anaheim by the heat of the day. :faint: Lauren did great in her race...in DCA. What a grand time. Allison ran the half on Mon am...started at 6 am and it was already in the 70's, by the Disneyland hotel and finished 13.5 miles later at the same spot. By then it was 98 degrees!!!:scared: Lots of characters cheering:cheer2:  and even the groundskeepers were in the act! Around Honda center, and the big A. It was just like running for 3 hours in a huge sauna. Luckily we had all been drinking water for a few days prior to the races and did really well hydration wise.
We are looking forward to next year...just hope it is not on Labor day weekend and pretty please:angel: no tropical storms!!!!!
Love to all, Mari, Allison and Lauren:dance3:

Great Job Guys!!!

Oh, thank you for asking...and remembering!!!! We had almost forgotten this bump in the road. Since her tonsils came out...doc said worst case of infected tonsils he'd seen in a long time....she has been well and no problems. Wish they could have thought of that sooner!! She started 1st grade yesterday and is loving it.
hope all is well with you and your family...
Peace to all, Mari

OK, I am so out of it.......when did they open booking for the new '09 itineraries? Was there a mad rush like with the Panama Canal cruises? I have a phantom cruise booked for the end of '08. I think we can do May 23rd if anything is still available. I've never been to Tortola....plus we get to sail with great people. Unfortunately my TA (Tracy) sent me an email that she was out of town. Will I be able to get on if we wait? That would be the month of our 35th wedding anniversary....guess we'd have to treat you guys to champagne or something. :thumbsup2

Once a month DCL is going to have a special Eastern Caribbean cruise. In January, February, March, October, November and December it is going to St. Croix instead of St Maarten and in the remaining months it is going to Tortola instead of St. Maarten.

Safe travels to all you crazy cruisers out there. Hope your holidays were joyous and full of wonder.
We sit in the waiting game now... less than two weeks until baby boy should make his first appearance. No cruising for us for a while. We bailed on the Panama for this year. Oh well! :( there will be other chances.
Hey all your Florida people it is actually 27F out right now! Tomorrow we are projected to be back to the high 70s!!

Belated Holiday greetings to everyone!
Sorry to say that we won't be cruising at that time of the year for at least 8 yrs. Kate is starting high school in the fall and when she finishes Brett will be starting high school. Her grades dropped last spring when we were in the Med because she didn't have enough time to make up some of the missed assignments.

Good look to all of those in the 1/2 and full marathon.
That would be a cool thing to do. Maybe next year for me.
Bad training habits prevented me from doing it this year.
Well as many of you know Jenn & the other girls from Work, Including Dr. Kevin Mooney, who is the Boss.
Have taken on the 1/2 marathon.
This started out as Fun for the Bunch of them :yay:
Jenn, has made sure that each and every person has a DVC room to stay in!
@ the Boardwalk!
Along the way it has turned into a way for them to raise Money for Boys & Girls Club of Woburn, Ma. (http://www.positive-place.org/)
The Girls at the office have, posted on the big board @ the office asking for there support!
Well, they have raised over $2500.00 :woohoo: for the Cause!
Each Girl recieves donations from there Patients !
Hence, a little contest has emerged!
Who can raise the most!
This is where you come in!
They know, that Jenn is the Disney Queen! :lmao: Yes, Everything Disney!
(she has helped more people in that office plan trips or Save money on a Disney trip!) :rotfl2:
They, also know of her Wacky Friends on the DIS, I think that the fact that Jenn will see about 50 to 100 other Disers (That she knows, im sure she will meet others!) during her walk is Great!
The other Girls will be like who is that, and Jenn will explain, oh Just a Friend I have Cruised with (insert amount of times here) or Met at The World!
The Dis is a very powerful Thing! :wizard:
ok, If Jenn knew, I was doing this, she would Kill me! :scared1:
Anyone who would like to help Jenn, help the Boys & Girls, may do so by
sending a check to the address below!
Lets help Jenn, win this little thing!
Jennifer R.
C/O Kevin Mooney, DDS
105 Baldwin Green Cmn
Woburn, Massachusetts 01801
Make checks Payable to: Boys & Girls Club of Woburn
Donations may also be made @ this site: http://www.positive-place.org/
Thank You :wizard: :dance3:
They still have this weeks people to Encourage to donate! :lmao:
She will not leave until Friday Morning for Florida!
It would be grand for Jenn to have a bunch of envelope to open upon her Return! or even before she goes!
Opening mail is one of her favorite Things!
Oh and have a Green New year!
