I'm officially replying because I can't figure out why there is no big thread started?! It's time we get this thing rolling! Is it possible that an August cruise is undersold?

We are first time cruisers, so I usually just look at what others have posted and store away their knowledge. Maybe there are a bunch of other first timers who don't know about the meet threads.

We've got 5--Jim (44), Amy (44), Cameron (17 DS), Tommy (15 DS) and Abby (9 DD).

I booked this at Christmas, but I gotta admit I'm nervous as to whether the boys will enjoy it. If there are any others out there with teenagers, let the thread hear about it. Also, if there are any other 9-10 year old girls, we'd love to hear from their families on this thread!

hi Jim, welcome to the thread!!! In our group we have me, Marcie (35), my DH, Dane (46 at cruise time) and my DD Aerial (12). I am so happy that someone else is sailing on that big ship with us!!! I do know at least one other person is sailing because the first stateroom I wanted was booked. :rotfl2: I got my second choice. This is our second cruise. We booked onboard when we sailed in November. We had really wanted this Eastern but we were scared it was going to interfere with school starting so we booked the July 15th Western. Well, we just found out school starts on Aug. 17th so we switched to the Eastern. I agree with you about being surprise that there wasn't already a cruise thread started!!! I looked 3 times for one.

You got company on the cruise.
We are a family of three. First time on the disney cruise. Last couple vacations spent at Wilderness lodge at Disney World. Really looking forward to the cruise. We have an 11year old daughter. We are from Vienna, Ohio that is. Like the count down on the thread. Keep it going.

Welcome to the thread Lyons family. Maybe our DDs will get a chance to get to know each other. How did you like the Wilderness Lodge? I've never stayed there but we've eaten at Whispering Canyon Cafe and I love the lobby. I am so tempted to stay there this time but it would be a hassle to get the transfer to the port since they don't transfer from there. So, we've booked at Caribbean beach resort. But still tempted to change. :rotfl2:

We just love the Wilderness lodge. Very nice and clean and we loved the newness of it. Just a quick jump on the boat to Magic Kingdom. The pool is awesome and the kids activities are great. It is like it's own little world. Will definitely go back. We survived Huriicaine Charlie there in 2004. And all the cast members were very attentive to everyone during the hurricaine. First time for us in a natural disaster hopefully our last. Oh by the way we are Rick, Sue and Christina. Christina is 11 loves to roller skate (competitvely) bike ride and read garfield books. Can't wait for school to be out, only 35 days but who is counting. School play Godspell Jr. in 3 weeks, keeping us busy. So where are you from? What does your daughter like? Reply, Later, Sue

Hi Sue. I am Marcie, my DH is Dane & my daughter is Aerial. That must have been scary to be there during hurricane Charlie. We live in Southeast Texas. Hurricane Rita came right through our town last September. We were evacuated though. We were very lucky, we just had to replace our roof. My in-laws lost their whole house and had to buy a new house. I sure hope this year will be much better. Are y'all going to WDW before the cruise? We are flying in 2 days early and going to Animal Kingdom the day before. That is the only park we have not been to.

Aerial is into all kinds of sports. Right now she is playing softball and she plays volleyball and basketball too. She also loves to draw and really loves cats. (We have 2). She's been saying she wants to make a name on here to talk to other kids her age that are cruising. Maybe we can let them email or talk here before the cruise.

Have you ever been on a cruise before? This will be our second disney cruise.
I went to the mall today and while I was at the book store I saw the magazine "Cruise Travel" and the Wonder is on the cover. It's the ship of the month for April. So, I bought the magazine. I think I might get a subscription to it.

Talk to ya soon.

Welcome to the thread!!! :goodvibes Who is in your party? I think the earliest you can get to the port is 10 a.m and they start boarding a little before noon. I am not for sure though since we take the disney transfers we get to the port a little later.

:cool1: Myself & Sp are 41 traveling with two beautiful princesses 4 & 6.
We have only booked the cruise so far. We are going to try to fly to Orlando maybe on the 2 and have a day in Disney World. May try to catch a limo to the port. We never travel & it would be a treat for us. :hourglass
how do you add the ticker??

ImMarcik
04-08-2006, 11:34 PM
We rode in a limo last time from our house to the airport and back so we wouldn't have to leave our car at the airport. It is so tempting to do that again but he haven't decided for sure yet. We are flying into Orlando on the 3rd and going to Animal Kingdom on the 4th. Then, we will take the disney transportation to the port. I can't wait. :Pinkbounc To get a ticker just click on mine and it should bring you to the website. Once you have yours made copy and paste and save it to your signature on the boards. Let me know if you need more help with it and I can talk you through it. :goodvibes Have you thought about excursions?

I've been reading on cruise critics and saw a post on dis today about joyce prince private tours in St. Martin. So, I found her website and emailed her our date we are in st. martin and told her we were going to do the regatta in the morning and asked her if we could do an afternoon tour. She wrote back and has only one other family that day so she has room for us. She says she could pick us up at 11:30 after the regatta and drop us off in Phillipsburg for lunch and shopping and then pick us up around 1:30 for a 3 hour tour. It's $35 per person. Anyone ever hear of her? We have to give her a credit card number to hold our spot. I really would love to do an Island tour like this.

We are booked on the Aug 5th Magic. First time Cruiser and DSL travelers, 5 people, 2 adults, 2 boys-6 and 10 and mother in law 79. should be an interesting time. Anything you can think of that we need to know would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to just relaxing and having a wonderful time.

Welcome Sandel! I will add your group to our list. :thumbsup2 Have you looked into excursions yet? One thing to know is that you can book your excursions, spa treatments and Palo reservations online. Also, you can sign your boys up for the kids clubs there. You have to wait until 75 days if it's your first cruise and the time is 3:00 a.m. EST that it opens up to book.

If you are looking into relaxing you should try the rainforest room. I loved it in there last cruise and I can't wait to go again. You don't have to book that ahead of time, just go up there when you want to use it.

Making door signs is another fun thing to do if that interests you. I worked on mine last weekend. I have 3 made. I will buy magnetic paper to print them on and then put them on our stateroom door.

If you have any questions I will try to answer them for you. :goodvibes

What is the door sign for??
So we have 25 days to be able to sign up -- does it all fill up at 3 am??

I am so excited!! :Pinkbounc

We are planning to go to disney world before the cruise. Would have liked to do after but school will be starting. Any recommendations on hotels around Disney World??

We are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort from Wed - Sat before the cruise. I can't wait.

The rainforest room is a room in the spa, there are heated tile loungers to sit, steam rooms, saunas, and scented showers. It's $15 a day or you can buy a week pass. I will probably only use it on sea days so I will just get the $15 a day but it is so relaxing in there.

Door signs are designs you make with magnetic paper or magnetic roll tape to put on your doors. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a242/ImMarcik/3d539604.jpg
This is a picture of our door on the last cruise.

Count back 75 days from Aug 5th if you've never cruised DCL before. That is the day you can make your reservations online. Things that fill up fast are Palo and some more popular excursions. Once you cruise before you can make reservations at 90 days. I will definitely be up because we want to fish in CC and that is a very limited excursion.

Sandel, there is a place on the disney cruise website that says "my Cruise" or something like that. When you click on it you put in your reservation number and your birthdate and you can see your reservation. The tab that says "my cruise plans" is where you make your reservations when it's time.

Since are thread is growing before the cruise, we should take the time to meet on the ship. As earlier mentioned we should either have the same type of hat or shirt or do a bubble launch meeting together on deck when the ship leaves port in Florida. Any other ideas???????? Help make this fun!

Well we could wear lime green shirts. Or someone can design a shirt for us to all have. I'm just throwing stuff out there. A bubble party would be fun, but the sail away party was very crowded last time. We could meet right before it starts so we could find each other. Anyone else have suggestions? I believe we are at 79 days since my counter starts when I'm at WDW. If I was going to stay in a monorail hotel I would pick either Poly or Contemporary. How are you getting to the port? The Poly has the bus transportation. We are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort this trip. We wanted to save a little money. Next time though I want to stay in either The Poly, Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge. Oh the decisions!!! We are flying in to WDW really late Wed night then Thursday we are going to DTD and Friday we are going to AK to ride the new roller coaster. :goodvibes

What does DTD or AK mean?? We are flying in Wednesday also & wanted to at WDW resort. We have not booked as of yet. Only the flights & the cruise is booked & paid for. The Wildresss is the least expensive or the four on the M system. Not sure what one to do. Heard positive reviews of the Poly and they have a club for the kids.
We are planning to take a Limo to the boat. Had heard taking taking the Limo was better than taking the disney transportation.
Our cruise reservation is GTY but I wanted to get my room assignment. Do you see any benefit & keeping GTY & getting assigned at the ship?? :wizard:

ImMarcik
05-18-2006, 08:02 AM
DTD = Downtown Disney and AK = Animal Kingdom. The Wilderness Lodge is not acutally on the monorail. It's just close by. We are taking a Limo from our house to the airport and back. It's about a 2 hour ride. I'm not sure about the gty I haven't done it. I've picked out my room numbers. I can't wait to be on that ship. You get to make your reservations for excursions and Palo & stuff soon online. :goodvibes

I have gone online to book our excursions and I am wondering if I am trying to do too much. At Castaway Cay we want to swim with the stingrays which is only and hour and then can you just swim in the lagoon with out having to reserve anything? I guess we need to reserve snorkel gear or can you just get that the day of. Also at the other ports is it best to do an excursion or just go on your own? Need help with excursion planning?

Last time we did the stingrays at CC. We did it at 10 and it took about an hour then we killed a little time, ate lunch, got a Konk cooler and then swam. From what I understand you can get your snorkel gear that day and you would have had plenty of time to snorkel. I've never been to St. Martin or St. Thomas/St. John, but we booked excursions. We are doing the Capt. Nautica's snorkeling in ST. John, so we can see both Islands. It's over at noon so then we plan to take the skyride on our own to Paradise Point and have lunch and a Bushwacker in St. Thomas. The Paradise Point was a recommendation from a friend who's been. In St. Martin we booked a private tour of the island in the morning so we can see some sights. Then we booked the 12 metre regatta through DCL for the afternoon. In CC we booked the Fishing in the morning and will plan on swimming like last time in the afternoon. I scheduled it all where we have a few hours at each port to explore on our own and still have an excursion through DCL.

My husband and I did the submarine ride on our honeymoon in Hawaii. We had a nice time. Two people share a window. We plan on taking our daughter on the submarine ride. Suppossedly there are a couple places around the world where you can do this ride, I can't remember where the other ones are besides the carribean and Hawaii. We need new shirts saying Atlantis Submarines.

Our tiny party is first time cruisers- Robin, single mom (45) and ds Colton, age 7. So excited to find this thread! Have had great fun planning: booked some spa services, stingray adventure at Castaway Key, brunch at Palo. Ordered formal dress, shoes and semi-formal accessories- so much fun to get dressed up! Have read my passported cover to cover-

We plan to get to central FLA on the 4th, rent a car and spend the night in Cocoa Beach- wanna get in some early beach time and get to the ship early on cruise day. Still deciding on flights, whether Orlando or Melbourne: Official Disney recommendations say don't plan on departing much before noon on the 12th--- if we depart the ship early early, might we make an 11:30 flight?

Hi Everyone,

I think today is the day I'm going to book for this trip! I'll be glad I did, but it's just scary to finally make the move. Not sure why...we've been on 5 DCL's, but had a rough winter financially, (I'm a Realtor in NE Ohio...blah). It's really picked up, so I can officially go and feel at ease. Or...should I pay off all the credit cards that we had to use over the winter!!?? Nah.....

Anyhow, it'll be DH - Rob - 43
Me - Tara 40 (shhhh!!!)
DD - Ava - 21 months

Aug. 12 is also our 11 year anniversary so it's a REALLY good excuse when people say, "You're going on ANOTHER Disney Cruise???" I'm just nervous it's going to be too hot! I love the hot weather, but DH goes crazy in it.

Tarabra and family, welcome to the thread, we have met some very nice people on this thread, and hopefully will be able to meet on the ship. We are distant neighbors, we live in Vienna, Ohio, and will be flying out of Cleveland sometime on August 5th. We don't know our flight yet. Marci is a great resource person on this page. Take the time to read all the postings. Catch you later

Welcome Tara, I added you to the list on the first post. :goodvibes Have you been on an Eastern before? Yes, an anniversary is a great excuse for another cruise. It won't be long now I will be making lists of stuff to get. Wait, I already have a small one. :rotfl2: I can't believe this Friday will be 2 months until I fly out. Tara, have you been to Dis meets before?

Welp, it's a done deal! We're on! It's going to be weird cruising in the summer. We always go in the spring when we have serious cabin fever. But we are excited! This will be our 3rd Eastern. I love the Eastern. Although I enjoy spending the day in Key West on the Western. I really enjoy the days at sea, and I think it will be better for my DD21mos, than running around the ports. There is absolutely NOTHING in the world better than waking up in the morning at St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Breathtaking. I was preg. on our last cruise in May '04, so I'm ready to have some fun! Although we are trying for child number 2, so I could possibly be preg. again.

Looking forward to hanging out on the thread and getting to know everyone. Lyons family, Vienna is about an hour East of here. I'm originally from New Castle, PA, so we were always at the Eastwood Mall. I live about 5 minutes from Akron now.

We are flying in on Thurs. (08/03/06) and I have rooms booked at Saratoga Springs since we are DVC members. It'll be the first time using the points. So, the rooms are 'sort of...not really' free! We can't wait to take DD to the Park although it is going to be HOT! We figure we might as well go now before we have another little one, and while she can still get on the cruise for free and ride the plane for free. (that should be interesting!) I'm sure we're going to be hearing about it from our families. "Oh...you don't need to take her!!! Blah, blah, blah!" Can't wait!

Now I'm getting excited. I just booked Palo, and the time at Flounders for DD. I'm surprised there was still 3 spots open at Palo. I got the time at 6:00 for Tues. when we're at St. Maarten. Not sure if that is Pirate night or not, but I figure we did Palo last time at Cozumel when they had the Mexicalifragelistic (or however it was spelled) night. No big deal. We just went to the festivities afterward. We can even make late seating if we are going to miss something that DD might get a kick out of.

Lyons family...have you booked your flights yet? I ALWAYS get better rates out of Akron/Canton, and the parking is MUCH cheaper. Plus it's only 15 mins. from here. Not sure if you've checked on that yet. I haven't even gotten that far. I'm trying not to put anything on my credit cards. I have 2 closings next week, so I will just pay for the plane fare after that. I've already started looking through DD's closet, she can still wear her Easter dress for Formal Night. Yea! I've also started on the South Beach Diet again, so I will be able to fit in my cruise dresses. I still have some baby fat to shed, and I refuse to wear my 'after the baby' bathing suit that I bought last summer. Blah!

Speaking of being hot, I booked the spa villa for Monday. I am going to be in a hot tub on a verandah. I wonder how hot that will be. It's okay though, I'm from Texas and I love it hot. I get cold if it's in the 60s LOL.

I think Tuesday is Pirate night. But, when we were on the Wonder we had Palo ressies on Pirate night at 6 and was there in plenty of time for the deck party.

I bought a new bathing suit and formal. I plan on dieting up until the day we leave because last time I gained 9 pounds. :scared1:

Yea it is Pirate night, I checked. I figured it was since the spot was open. 1st night, last night and Tues. No brunches which I would like to finally try, but maybe I can book onboard. We haven't done the brunch yet. Haven't done any of the spa stuff either. I do go to the aerobics classes which are in the spa area and catch a nice whiff of all the aromatherapy!! Does that count!? It's much cheaper too!!

Has anyone tried to use a laptop computer on the boat? Unfortunately I have to have some communication with the working world. Is it worth just buying the package for one flat fee?

Tarabra
06-02-2006, 05:34 PM
We've lugged a laptop along before, but that was just to download pics. Big mistake. It was a pain to lug around. If I were to get online, I'd just get the package deal. On one of our cruises there was an hour or so w/ free internet time. Maybe like 5 minutes or so. There was also a contest that when you signed on, you had a chance to win a package. Needless to say, we didn't win. I've only seen that free time once though.

We brought our laptop last time to download pictures too. I'm sure we'll bring it again. I thought we would get online on the ship but we didn't one time. I did get online at the resort before the cruise though.

Just waking up at 10am. Why? decided to do a bus trip to Casino Niagra yesterday, and wouldn't you know it the bus broke down as we were ready to leave at 6pm. The power steering serpentine belt. After 3 mechanics, and another bus being sent up from Youngstown to get us, we finally left the falls at midnight. 6 hours later. I have no clue how fast the bus driver was going on interstate 90 and the route 11, all that I know is I got home in 2 and a half hours. Trip now known as Casino Niagravation. Won some spending money for the cruise.
We booked our cruise thru AAA, we will spend the night in Cleveland on Friday the hotel will keep our car for free parking for the week. It was cheaper for us to go out of cleveland than Pitsburgh when we looked around. We still don't know what time our flight is we will find out 30 days before the cruise.
Just booked Palo for Friday.
As far as diets go I do Atkins, and exercise so far so good. Saving my money for formal clothes will attack the Mall over the fourth of July. Have summer clothes in my normal smaller summer size, and they fit!!
Talk to you later

I figured there was some reason you were heading into Cleve. I just hate getting up at 4:00 on the morning that we are leaving. Blah! Those Air Tran flights leave so early.

I'm so excited...I just got a coupon for Kohl's for 30% off my whole purchase w/ my card. I'm going to go nuts! I fortunately still fit in all my pre-pregnancy clothes, but just not liking the new mom body. I keep telling it I AM DONE BREASTFEEDING so it doesn't need to store any more fat on my thighs!! :rotfl: I always get my formal dresses in Jan. after Christmas! I get them for under $20!! I have 2 gowns, both have a spandex (not what you think...more like stretchy velvet) type material so they can actually be rolled in a ball if need be! I have to try them on and see which one hides my mommy tummy the best!

I thought I was going to break my first 2 weeks of South Beach today. I went to M-I-L's and she had a bag of Lay's sitting there and oatmeal muffins and made brats and french fries for lunch! Ouch! I did have a brat w/out a bun, but skipped the other stuff. I'm pretty proud. 1 week and a half left on Phase 1. I always just need a goal, and the cruise is it! Although I am heading to my cousin's wedding next weekend in NJ. My aunt always OVER feeds us. Wedding food is usually pretty healthy as long as you don't eat a bunch of cake and cookies!

we just changed from our 9/23/06 cruise to this one so we could bring some family along!! :woohoo:
Add us to the list on the first page we will be #12 and this is our #12 DCL cruise :thumbsup2

I have been on these boards for along time as mom x4,grandma x4.
Dont believe all those stories from fellow disers that I am a little cruise crazy. :confused3
It just isn't true! I am a BIG TIME cruise crazy!!

My name is Kathy, DH is Greg
we are from Fruitland Park Florida.
DD is Marie her DH is Jerry
their kids ( our grandkids) Ana 15 Andy 12

The grandkids dont know that we are going yet. We have told them we are going to Cocoa beach for a few days to see Kennedy Space center, the Warbird air musuem, and to play on the beach. We have also told them that we have signed up for a special presentation in the terminal about the next new disney ship. We told them it was a perk from having cruised so many times with DCL. So they wont know until we stop and unload the luggage at the port!!! They have cruise on the Magic twice before.
I know Ana will be looking forward to meeting any other teens coming along once we board the ship. :woohoo:

Ok, we may also have one of our sons, Peter with us too. He works at WDW and if he can get time off he will join us, if not he may join us in November when we next cruise on the Magic. He is in the process of changing from Guest Relations to management so it is alittle tricky for him right now. We will know in two weeks if he will get to come along. he has cruised DCL twice before with us.
I can't believe we only have 2 months to go!!! :Pinkbounc
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you in the next few weeks.
Do you have a cruise meet set up yet?
Anyone have pirate pirate: costumes? or will I be the only adult dressed up on Pirate night?
How about door signs, anybody doing them too? I have to start all over again now and change from the other cruise to this one. But i will have a couple of signs. :goodvibes
I dont know our room yet, we just booked today, but it is a verandah room.

well enough for now,
we are so excited to be coming along. This is our 3rd eastern cruise, so not sure if we will do any excursions or just explore and shop on our own.

It is time to party:

Thanks for welcome aboard,

Hey I just finished reading from page one to the present and I noticed that twice a cruise meet was mentioned but nothing was set up for sure.
I would like to make a suggestion from my past experiences for successful meets. I am the new kid here I know, but let me know what you think about this idea!!
We usually meet at 3 p.m. in the Promenade lounge on the first day. Here is why, most people are on the ship and have had lunch, checked out their rooms and been to the kids clubs by 3. Plus the safety drill starts at 4. That gives up to an hour to visit, although meets are usually 30 minutes long. We picked the Promenade lounge because it is big and has lots of tables and chairs for people, it is air conditioned and not crowded. Plus it is easy even for first time cruisers to find. It is one of the few places on the ship that is not being used for something else the first afternoon. It is quieter than out on deck so you can hear what people are saying. Lots of people try to meet at the sail away party, but that usually doesnt work too good, because you cant hear anyone, it's hot and people with little kids want to get a good spot right in front of the stage so they can see the characters close up and it gets so crowded you cant enjoy yourself if you wan to visit. If your on deck 10 the people who want to get up close wont make it. So we usually meet first in the Promenade then if people want to meet up at the party to blow bubbles or streamers they do it on their own, which works really well.
I would love to hear what you guys think about this or if you have other ideas, please tell me. We only have 2 months!!! Lets hear some suggestions from everyone for a meet! I would love to meet all of you guys. Meeting other disers on board has always been a highlight of our cruises especially when we keep seeing everyone all week on the ship and get a chance to hear all the great stories of what they have been doing.
Please let me hear form you guys!! Tell me what you think???

I love that idea Kathy. Last time I missed the 3 pm meet, but I really am going to try to make it this time. And, I love the idea of swapping stories during the week. I am going to probably wear a green shirt, although it might be bright green. :goodvibes
Now, I am off to bed, I have to be up at 5:00 am to go to Baton Rouge. I am on vacation for 2 days. While my DH is at meetings I will be at the casino. :thumbsup2 Wish me luck. I will be back Wed evening to see how the plans are coming.

Have fun at the Casino. ;)
Last time I went to Reno a few years ago with my mom I put 5 nickels in a spin til you win machine and won $150. :thumbsup2 That was my ONE and ONLY jackpot! But I played off their money most of the trip, so that was fun. :teeth: MY DH keeps telling me we should go on the Sun Cruise Casino ship out of port canaveral to win money to pay for our cruises :rotfl2: .
With our luck I would never get to cruise again if I did that! :sad2:
Hope you have an awesome time!!!

Anybody else got any opinions about a cruise meet. :confused3 Now is the time to speak up, before something is set for sure.

Hey, I got out room number. We are in 7566. Are any of you my neighbor?? :goodvibes
On our 11/06 cruise we are right next door to other disers which was pretty cool. :woohoo: So I thought I would check here and see if I have any close neighbors

Yes, that time and place sounds fine w/ us. I didn't discover the DISboards until last summer, so I've never known about them during our past cruises. So plan away! Although my 21moDD may be napping, but that'll give DH a chance to nap to. It is fun running into people you have met and hearing about their day. On our last cruise, one of our tablemates was from PA close to where I grew up. She said, "Oh, I met someone else from New Castle." Here it was a family that 2 of the sisters used to work for my dad and these people were even at my wedding. Small world. Oddly enough, we only ran into them twice. That was pre-kid, so we did everything on the adult side, plus late seating.

We have a gty room, so I won't know for another month where our room is. Kinda adds to the excitement. Hoping for an upgrade! It might just happen since this thread is kind of quiet. Maybe lots of empty rooms to fill!!

We decided to dress up in tropical wear on pirate night. I bought a dress from a place on the net in hawaii. My daughter found a pirate t-shirt it's brown with white on it so I'm getting her a white skirt to go with it. My DH will probably just wear a Hawaiian shirt.

We are in room 6634, one of the open Nav Verandah's. We had 7620 last time and loved it, it was booked this time but we got the one right under it. :thumbsup2

We are going see the new Disney movie Cars this weekend. I might do a bit of shopping too for the cruise. That's about all we have planned. It's getting hot here in Texas now too. It's 92 degrees and the high is 95 tomorrow. I know when we go to Animal Kingdom in August it is going to be SO hot but at least we are used to it. I love hot weather anyway. I'm always cold.

Well up here in Ohio we have a chance of rain and be in the low 70's this weekend. So what to do but shop. shop. shop. We also joined a swim club for the summer that has an indoor olympic sized pool, so we will spend some time there. Oh did I tell you we were going to shop. Girls day out while the husband at work. Have to line up babysitting for the critters at home when we are on the cruise. We have Martha a beagle, Anny the cat, Carrie the cat, Goldie and Rose are our goldfish, Tina the painted turtle, and slow poke the tree turtle, Thank God for Grandparents. I guess they will be getting good soveniers (Spelling????). What will the ladies wear on Pirates night any other ideas besides Hawaiian gear, I don't want to copy.

Sue,

My pirate outfit is brown boots with silver buckles and a tan skirt which has a layered look with uneven hems on each layer so it looks tattered. I have a long sleeve white blouse with a round elastic neckline and I wear a pirates of the caribbean medallion necklace with it and a long brown vest that is open in front and the hem is long strips of material so it looks torn, plus I have a brown sash around my waist with a skull and crossbones glued on to it. I may change the skirt to pants that come to the knee and rip the bottoms of the legs on it to keep the look of the other clothes.
I just looked for closeout sales and such. The necklace cost $10 at WDW and the boots were $15 and all the rest was around $15, which I thought was pretty good, plus I have worn it on 2 trips already and we have 4 more DCL cruises booked, so I figure I will be getting my moneys worth out of it.

I have seen many people take old pants and cut them off around the knee, making an uneven ragged look and then they have a striped piece of materal
around their waists. Some had pirate t-shirts on, others white blouses with ruffles down the front. Most wear the bandanas they give you at dinner. Lots of eyepatches too.
I hope that may help to give you a few more ideas. Everyone is different and fun to see what they have on.

Hi Everyone,

I was in N.J. for the weekend at my cousin's wedding. Lots of fun. Even hit Atlantic City for the day. Lost some money, but ended up cashing out $81.00 at the end of the night, so it seemed like I won!

I hit Kohl's today. Had a 30% off coupon. Bought my DD 3 cute dresses for dinner ($5 each), and my DH a tropical shirt, wrinkle-free khaki pants, and a lime green polo shirt, also a pair of sandals. Well, by the time I got to the women's section, DH called telling me to hurry because he had to get to work. Blah! I was only able to grab 2 shirts and a pair of new running shoes. I may go back tonight. I saved $50. I also want to still lose about 10 lbs. before then too. My South Beach Diet was thrown to the wind this weekend in NJ. I have to start all over. I lost 11 lbs in 8 weeks the last time I did it, so I can get rid of these last 10 lbs. of baby weight if I try hard. I may start roller blading again, but don't want to break anything before the cruise!!

As far as pirate night...hmmm...hadn't thought about it. I do have a dress that I wear for Halloween, that is black and red w/ a tie up front, long and flowing. It just seems too hot for the cruise. May just go tropical. I have a really cool Hawaiian dress, circa the 70's that I got at a thrift store a few years back. I wore it to Mexicana night before on the cruise and got so many compliments. I only paid less than $5 for it. I better check to see if it still fits post baby!

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I've been snooping for awhile! :wave2:

We watched a Travel Channel special on the Disney Cruise Line last month and within 2 days I booked this cruise on a whim!

It's me (31), my husband Shane (33) and my daughter Addison (6). We live in Dayton, OH.

We are super excited. I'm still trying to collect all the tips I can to make the most of it.

Has anyone done the Dolphin Encounter on Castaway Cay? My daughter is begging to do it, but it's pricey and makes for a long day. Thoughts?

Another Ohio family! There are already 2 others onboard including us. We're from Akron. We just booked 2 weeks ago and it was pretty much on a whim too, although we really planned on going in Apr. but weren't able to swing it then. I can't wait. BUT...I don't want to wish my summer away either!

I went back to Kohl's again last night and spent even MORE money. We tried DD's dresses on her today and she looks SO adorable. She even was excited in her new clothes. I just look at that blindingly white skin of hers and worry what that tropical sun will do to it. She's not patient when it comes to putting on the sunscreen. BUt I bought the spray on stuff, so that might work better. My husband can get a tan by walking down the street on a sunny day in Mar. (we're in Ohio remember  ) so hopefully she has his coloring. I don't really burn too badly either, but I don't want to take a chance w/ her. I'm trying to get her totally potty trained so she can swim in the whole pool and not just the ear. She's been going on the potty for a year now, but she still wears diapers. She's 100% Number 2 on the potty, but doesn't tell me when she has to pee, but still pees in it about 4 times/day. She woke up DRY this morning after 12 hours. Couldn't believe that one! I keep telling her that her diaper days are over. Now mom just needs to be consistent in getting her on the pot hourly. :cool1:

Just got a memo from Air-Tran that we can get a pretty good deal if we book by tomorrow. I'll have to investigate some more.

This is so cool to talk to everyone pre-cruise! I've never subscribed to a board before...so this is new territory for me.

I just read through all the posts. First, Marcie, you were right. The Dolphin Encounter is not at CC. I went ahead and booked it. My daughter can't stop talking about it...so I figured why not!

I have sooo many questions. I have researched the boards today, but I'd rather get the opinion of you guys, who will actually be on the same cruise. We have a GTY room. I'm such a newbie...I'm not even sure what that means!?!? :lmao:

Okay, the formal night. How formal are you getting? Do we know in advance what night that is? How do I find this stuff out? :confused3 I think it would be tons of fun to get dressed up, but my DH will be reluctant. How dressy do your DH's get? And the other dinners...do you find that you're going back to the room every evening and getting gussied up first? I feel like I'm going to be packing like 21 outfits for 3 people!

And pirate night...will we be total oddballs if we're not dressed in pirate gear? I hadn't even thought of it. Maybe I should get my DD something. She would get a kick out of it.

Sorry for all the Q's. I'd love to meet up. I have no idea what anyone is talking about, but just tell me where to go and I'll figure it out!

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Leslie

Leslie

I know your excitement, I was the same way before my cruise last year. It will all come together. We ended up missing the meet last time because it was our frist cruise. I hope everyone makes it. If not and you still want to meet we could all exchange room numbers.

I am glad you chose to do the dolphin excursion. Like I said, we did it last time. It was expensive but worth it to us. Now it's done so we can do other things. :goodvibes We are doing expensive excursions again but I told my DH there is no way I'm going to the Virgin Islands without doing exactly what I want to do. So, we will pay and have fun and be broke afterwards. :rotfl:

GTY room means that you are guaranteed at least the category that you chose. Eventually online you will see a room number once they assign it to you. I am assuming that you have been online to book stuff since you booked the dolphin excursion.

Formal night. My favorite topic. I never knew I would get so excited about dressing up like that. We went on a 4 day last year and there was only semi-formal. I had gotten a little black dress and wore it to Palo. This year I get to dress up 3 times!!! :goodvibes Formal night, Semi-Formal & Palo. For formal night I got a long gold dress at Dillards where all the prom dresses were. It's kinda slinky. I can't wait to wear it!!! I also bought 4 inch heals to match. Which I don't think I've ever worn so this should be fun. All I have left to find is matching earrings. My DD who is 12 went to her first formal dance at school this year. The Mardi Gras Ball. So, she is wearing the same dress she wore to that. It was expensive so I am happy she is wearing it twice. It's Navy Blue, long to the floor. BTW it says on her dress "spot clean only" does this mean I can't dry clean it? I have had it hung by itself since that dance hoping it would air out. LOL. :rotfl: She only wore it that one night. As for my DH I am really trying to get him to buy either a black jacket or rent a tux. But I don't think I'm having much luck. For our last cruise he bought a blue sports coat and wore that with a dress shirt and dressy pants. I think I can get him to wear the coat & tie on Formal night, the coat to Palo & just the dress shirt to semi-formal night. I also bought a dress for Palo and I am planning on wearing my little black dress to semi-formal. The Palo dress is knee length. It's a creamish nude color dress with a black lace overlay. I love it. It's spaghetti straps. I will be able to get away with the same shoes for both the little black dress and that one. BTW anyone else bringing a whole lot of shoes. :rotfl2: I bet I am bringing 15 pairs for just me.

Pirate night, you will not be oddballs at all. Actually the majority of people probably won't be dressed up. It would be fun though for your DD I bet. Did I mention before that we got beads at the Mardi Gras store? My DH got beads with skulls on them. Perfect for Pirate night. Mine has flip flops on them and DD's has flamingos.

 Welcome Leslie and family!!!!

Howdy everyone!!

Leslie on pirate night you will be given a pirate bandana to wear at dinner if you want. You will see lots of people wearing them at the party. Kids do get a kick out of dressing up. They even had a early kiddie pirate dance party in studio sea last time we cruised. Kids were dressed up and had a ball. Then they came to the big party that night. Dont know if they still do the extra party or not, that was last March. The Navigtor says pirate or tropical attire for that evening.

Back to hot :sunny: weather here again now that Alberto is gone!

I know 3 of us agreed to the 3 p.m. meet the first day in the promenade lounge, does anybody have any other ideas??? Or is this set for sure so we can plan on it???
Marcie what do you think?? :confused3

Oh boy, I dug into the DEPTHS of my closet today and pulled out some capris that I've worn on past cruises but haven't tried on since baby. Well, I can get them zipped except for the last inch, but w/ doing South Beach, I should be able to get them totally zipped by then. My motivation!!

Anyhow Leslie, we too have a GTY room. We usually do Cat. 11 inside, but since we didn't rebook this cruise onboard as we usually do, it was costing us double what we normally pay, plus it wasn't off season, so we did Cat. 12. It seems like there are still rooms available so maybe we'll have a good chance of getting the upgrade, especially since this is our 6th cruise. We'll find out our room numbers around July 5.

As far as formal night, I too love it and the opportunity to get dressed up. I wear a gown that I've purchased at after Christmas/New Year's sales for $15 or $19. I've got 2 now to decide on. If you click on our pics below, you can see some of the stuff we've worn. The black spaghetti strap dress w/ the feathers was $15!! (The zipper was torn so it was dirt cheap!) DH will wear a suit to dinner on formal night, and I just bought him a pair of wrinkle-free khaki pants that he will probably wear the other nights. He can also wear his suit pants a night or two. They are only in them for 2 hours tops each night. We are at late seating, so we have plenty of time to get dressed. On the other nights he will wear a polo shirt and I bought him a really nice simply stated black and tan tropical shirt w/ palm trees on it at Kohl's. It looks VERY nice w/ his khakis. He will never wear this shirt anywhere else though. Yesterday he kept telling everyone he was trying on his "cabana wear!" As far as dressing for pirate night, I like the idea of maybe going to the Party Store to see if they have any type of stuff we can wear. Ava is too little to really know if she's missing out on anything, but I had some leis out today from past cruises. They used to pass those out on Mexican night. She loves putting those on as well as mardi gras beads. (We are very careful watching her w/ those on) Time to put her down for a nap.

Thanks Marcie, Kathy and Tara for the replies. What would I have done if I hadn't found you guys? I wouldn't have packed a single dressy outfit! That would have been a complete disaster! I get so few chances to dress up, this is one more thing to look forward to! :)

We are spending a fortune on this cruise. Everyday I think of something else major I MUST have for the trip. I bought Addison all new Disney PJs. They were running a sale and I found a coupon on DealTaker for some additional money off...so I got them for $3.99 each! It was a great deal...however, I hardly think she needs to don a never-worn pair of pajamas for 6 straight nights! :rotfl:

Have you ever sent stuff out to be ironed the first night? I've read a lot of posts about that and I thought it sounded like a good idea. Is it worth the money?

Tara, I looked at the pics. Super helpful. I also peaked at Ava. She is beautiful!

Enough rambling for now! Leslie

Yes, the first day of the cruise before dinner we sent all our dinner clothes to get pressed. It worked out great!!! We are definitely doing that again. I don't have to worry about ironing or the way I pack. The other thing that worked really well is I brought that Downey wrinkle release. I would spray it on whatever shirt we would wear the next day and pull on it. Then hang them to dry. In the morning they were nice and wrinkle free. :goodvibes

Well we too are getting excited :cool1: for the cruise, it is getting here fast. You guys have it all wrong about this ironing thing. We have about 7 weeks to teach our daughters to iron :rotfl2: :rotfl2: . Start working on it, after all I am sure they will do anything to make sure they go on the cruise like keeping their room clean, or even better cleaning the litter box. All pun aside we are starting to organize all are travel items. Stocking up on all those personal items, looking at old clothes and buying new stuff. I love the idea of meeting at 3pm. Count us in. Are children allowed in this lounge. :confused3 :confused3 . I don't know what we will be wearing because we will be flying in that day. So looked for the most tired, weather torn family of three. Gotta go do the wash giving the DD off for the evening. Has to rest up she is in a 3 week summer camp of fun with the nuns, and don't want to make her too tired to have fun.

We just finished up with our reservations for the cruise. It was amazing that there were some Palo spots still open! I thought for sure that DH and I were going to have to fight the crowd for reservation when boarding. DH reserved a nice cabana spa for me on CC. It is going to be very wierd not to have our son with us, but at the same time kind of exciting just to be spending some time alone. I am just curious has anyone heard about the romantic escape package you can buy from DCL? :confused3 I think it includes 2 robes, chocolates, & a picture frame. I haven't made up my mind if I want to get it or not.

Hhmmm...some Palo spots must've opened up. When I booked a few weeks ago, there were only first day and last day available, and we got the last one of the Pirate night. Not sure what night you got. Yea, I looked into the Romantic package, but I think I'll spend my money elsewhere. Our 11th anniv. is on Aug. 12. The day we get back, but we'll still celebrate on the cruise. Can't wait.

Hey everyone! I have heard of flat Stanley before. My niece did this project in school. It is where you have a picture of someone and then you take a picture of the picture at places that you go too. It sounds like a lot of fun.

I thought I read somewhere that the Black Pearl was going to be at CC, but then someone corrected them and said it was the Flying Dutchman boat instead. Which ever one it is it will be neat to see.

I did finish the online reservation. It worked so well last time we cruised in April. It only took about 5 min to check in with the front desk. We just showed our passports and it was all done.

I am getting all excited about the cruise. We are leaving for Las Vegas on Saturday but I am more excited about the cruise then staying at the Venetian in LV. I am sure we will have a good time in LV but there is nothing like the DCL.

Well Marci I hope it stops raining in your neck of the woods soon. Maybe you can send some of the rain to Missouri.

Oh yeah I went on line to see how many ships will be in port on the days we are in port. Good news- we are the only ship in St. Maarten but we are 1 of 4 ships in port at St. Thomas.

I have a group of Disers in this juice thread. Well, earlier this year we all pitched in and 2 of the Disers went to build a bear and made us a monkey. They named him Cosmo, after the drink cosmopolitan. Since, we all met talking about juice for drinks. So we have a schedule for him and everytime one of has a trip he's mailed to us to bring him with us. We have to collect little things to send on to the next person. He's been on 2 cruises and a trip to Las Vegas. I am sooo excited to get him, he should be arriving to me next week and I get to keep him until after the cruise. We are taking him to an Astros game in a few weeks and I got him an Astro's shirt and hat. Anyway, I just wanted to share, he's kinda like our flat stanley. We are trying to see how many places he can go, and at the same time he is our link to each other.

It will be nice to be the only ship in St. Maarten. We have a private tour that morning and maybe it won't be that crowded out and about.

O.k. It's time to get down to business! I bought a new bikini yesterday. Baby fat GO AWAY!!! I got an email from Spiegel that they were having a 3 day bathing suit sale and the prices were so good. Their bathing suits are of great quality. I still have one from 1994. Still doing the South Beach Diet, but have slipped ever so slightly in the past few days. A visit to my parents' house will do that. I also made the unusual discovery that my posture was still way off kilter and that I was protruding my stomach out and arching my back so my butt stuck out more too. The classic "carrying a baby" posture. Ummm...19 months later!!! No wonder my lower back had been hurting. So now I'm trying to stand tall again and I bought an abs video today. O.k. I realize this isn't the South Beach message board so I'll hush up, but the cruises are my BIG motivation. Too much skin exposed.

I also hit Babies R Us and bought 2 travel potties. Well, 1 Baby Bjorn potty that my daughter looked at when it was being checked out and said, "poop, poop" to the cashier!! Pretty funny! The other is a travel toilet seat. I bought an arm strap too for her for Disney. She's at that age where she wants to run and this arm strap will be a big help. I looked at the harnesses, but they looked too bulky and I know how people feel about the "leashes." This arm strap should work well. I'd hate to lose her in the park. Even on the ship. My DH, Rob, always seems to find at least 2 lost kids on board.

As far as clothes go, we are cruising at the perfect time when everyone is clearing out their summer stuff for back to school, so I'll wait for the big sales to hit. I swear, the mall area was crazy today and it's just Tues. I have to drive around the mall to get to my office! Blah! Plus I hit Victoria's Secret's big sale. It was like a zoo! I think it's time to pack away my maternity undies. Oops! TMI! Sorry.

Cosmo sounds like fun! Is there a password that we need to have to see his picture Marcie? Love to see them.

I want to get some more flip flops, not like I don't have a million already haha. And, I want a gold small purse to match my formal. Nothing like carrying around your KTTW on a lanyard in a formal. Hey everyone. :wave2:

Great advice to wait for the summer sales, but I can't help myself...we have been shopping like maniacs the last few days.

So Sunday is formal night?? Does that mean that everyone dresses up no matter where you are dining for the evening? When do we find out our dining rotation? I think I'm going to pack a casual outfit for the day and a nicer outfit for the evenings for every single night for all three of us. Is that overkill? I keep reading on the boards that you should leave half of what you pack at home. Man, we are going to have a million pounds of baggage.

New question...

Do you guys have a recommendation for a bag you carry on the days at port? I don't want to pack up all of our swimming stuff and then lug it around with me all day during the excursions. Do you leave it on the ship and go back and get it? I want to find a bag that can hold what I need, but be comfortable to carry and my husband won't feel like a dork if he's stuck with it. Do you have any suggestions? And do you all take a soft sided cooler?

Sorry...again, for all of the questions! This is not only our first Disney cruise...but our first cruise ever.

45 days!

Stay cool! Leslie

addysmom, as far as bringing too many clothes, yea, we're guilty here too. But after 6 cruises, we've gotten a little better. We've found that you don't really need 7 pairs of shorts each. I end up throwing on my same shorts a couple of times over my bathing suit. DH brings 1 pair of khakis and has his suit pants. If you add up all the time worn, it's less than a full 8 hours of work, so it's not too gross!! I don't think we'll have to worry about bringing long sleeve stuff and pants in Aug. so that will save some space too. Fortunately DD can now wear the same pj's a few nights in a row w/out spitting up or pooing on them like when she was a baby and needed a new pair everynight! The one thing I do overkill on is bathing suits. I hate having a damp suit to put on. So I bring 3 or 4 suits. Now just have to get back into them all!

Marcie, I'd say spend your money on something other than the gold purse (unless you are going to use it again). I always just put my card in my camera bag or in DH's pocket! I don't think I even bring a purse onboard w/ me w/ all the other crap I'm lugging along!! :cool1:

:sunny: Well hello everyone. Keeping busy enjoying the summer. Went to a small water park here in Ohio called Pioneer waterland. Although it doesn't compare to the Typhoon Lagoon, we were able to enjoy the slides and lazy river. It was 89 degrees but the water wasn't. It was very cold. This Sunday we are going to Kenneywood Amusement Park Outside of Pittsburgh Pa. It is about an hour drive for us, and we will get alot of roller coaster rides in. Just can't stop thinking about how fast the cruise is getting here. Everytime we go out shopping I buy something new for the ruise. I really enoy the information on the web page because it is helping us to plan. Now,

06-23-2006, 10:51 AM
I think we may have gotten our WDW stuff a few weeks ago. We are staying at Saratoga Springs. We are DVC members and it is our first time using our points. So being an old pro at cruising, I'm a little nervous about DVC. It was quite simple, so not too worried. I still have to book flights. I had a special offer for 3 days last week on Airtran and wanted to compare flights, then wouldn't you know I forgot all about it. Grrr!! Sometimes I can get really good prices if I wait a little closer to the flight and it's not full yet. We're coming in Thurs. so we don't have to be anywhere before 1:00 so not as much pressure, but we still want to get there early to enjoy our stay. Check-in is not until 4 anyway.

Marcie, as far as losing 4 lbs. seriously do the South Beach Diet. I'm losing about a pound every couple of days. I want to lose 6 more. You get to eat SOOOO much and you still lose weight. You can sign up online. (there is a fee, but it's very helpful) That gives you a daily menu and a grocery list. I don't follow the menu exactly, but it gives you guidance. That Shape Abs workout I got is GREAT! My stomach just really needed tightening after the baby. I'm kicking myself that I waited so long. Now I need to kick my thighs into high gear!! Blah!

Gotta get back to work!! I need to sell some more houses so I can have even more fun on the cruise!

:Pinkbounc Well, just got home from Wall Mart, and let me tell you the find we made. I found three of the most gaudiest skull belts you have ever seen. Then I found an outfit to wear for Pirates night. pirate: It is all black beaded tank top, and a skirt that Morticia would have worn on the Adams family. Too bad I don't have the figure of Morticia, still trying to lose that baby fat from my daughter (too bad she is going to be twelve). It is so much fun shopping. My husband is glad I am going back to work Monday. This was an expensive weekend. I keep forgetting to post that we are in cabin 7124. Next I need to go out and get magnets for the door display. Haven't thought of any ideas yet, but at least I will have the magnets. ;) Talk to you later.
Bye Sue

Wow Sue we almost booked room 7120 we would have been close to you. But we ended up with 6634. If you want, anyone else wants to post their room numbers I will put them on the first page in case you don't make the meet and still want to meet on board. What do you think Kathy? I sure hope Aerial makes friends on the ship.

That's great finds you got today Sue. We went to the movies to see Nacho LIbre. It wasn't very good. :rotfl: That's okay, Aerial was dying to see it. :rotfl2: Then we had to go buy a new dishwasher, ours broke about a month ago. I have to get my magnets soon. I have some signs saved on my computer to print out. I also have to make my way to home depot for mickey heads or just do them on the computer. Maybe I will go shopping tomorrow.

well it's 6 a.m. so I'd better get with making breakfast and the laundry is done and needs to go in the dryer. I have so much ironing to get done today. I want to finish before it gets hot out!! Already around 80. :sunny: We saw a turtle strolling down our street yesterday. I think he was about a foot across his shell, maybe a little larger. We have critters everywhere. I love it!!

Everyone must be busy this weekend because this thread is very quiet this weekend.

It has been raining all weekend here, which is a good thing

Saw a turtle going down our street yesterday, he was actually pretty speedy. we have lots of turtles around here. Also had a baby lizard near the pool. He was so tiny that it was hard to spot him. I dont like lizards, but here they eat tons of bugs, so they are a good thing to have around. :thumbsup2

Well that is all the excitement from Florida!!

:welcome: Artie137! We too switched around our cruise. We really wanted this one from the beginning but didn't know when DD's school would start. So we booked the week before. After that we realized my DH would have a meeting that week so we moved it to July 15th. Well, when DD's school schedule came out for next year we found out she doesn't start until Aug. 17th so we moved it to here. The funny thing is I was feeling so uneasy about the other two and now I feel like this is the one I was supposed to be on. So now I can relax. :goodvibes

Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Howdy everyone,
This is a little off topic, but I wanted to tell all of you that on Friday I will become a mommy again!!! :goodvibes
Of course this time it will be a 4 legged baby! :rotfl:

Friday night we had a half starved dog show up at our house. A Boston terrier. We were using the BBQ. We fed her, but then had to call dog control to come and get her. :guilty: She was so timid and scared. We think she had been abused too from her actions. Anyway we talked about her all weekend, knowing she would be put down in wednesday or sooner. No real chance of adoption because she looked so aweful and she cowers in the back of the cage silently while all the other dogs jump up and down and wag their tales. So DH called today fron the shelter and said we had adopted her. :cloud9: We will get her Friday after she has been spayed and had shots etc..

So now I have to fix up a doggie nursery, so to speak!!

Now I have to find a kennel int he area for when we take this cruise . Hopefully our adult son will be here,s o may not need to leave her. I wouldnt mind, but she will just be starting to trust us about that time and it may be extra hard on her to go to a kennel.

Anyway that is my good news for today!! :woohoo:
I havnt had a dog for 20 plus years, I am sooo excited!! :cool1:

If anyone has any ideas for a name for a small boston terrier, please let me know. I am having a hard time thinking of a name right now.

So many things to buy, just like bringing a baby home.

Well congratulations on your new arrival. :dance3: Being the house-hold of many wet and dry friends we took a survey and would like to suggest Barbie, (Barbeque). I think it is great that you open your doors to this little lady. Of course my daughter would recommend many names for the dog. Tina, Tina, Tina, Tina, it seems every stuffed animal and a live turtle are named Tina.
Let us know the winning name. Hey maybe if one of you get a white cane you can say the dog is your seeing eye dog and take it on the cruise (just kidding). Big sales coming up on July 4th. Plan to finish cloths shopping.

Good morning everyone!!! :sunny:

Sue, I have seen service dogs on the ship before. Too much work to train them to "GO" in the right place. I dont think this dog is that smart!! :rotfl:
I will consider your name choices too. I remember when my kids use to name everything one name too. :goodvibes Then in a couple of weeks everything had another name. It was hard to know what to call anything after a few weeks of that. :guilty:

Although terriers are suppose to be pretty intelligent. :dogdance:
She is probably smarter than me!! But that's not saying much :rotfl2:
so far here ar e a few names suggested to me from fellow disers on other threads. Let me know what you think??

Princess. Tink, Snuffles, Daisy, Magic, Belle, Wiggles, Angel, Buttercup,Pixie,Lucky, Cookie,Minnie, Duchess.

So many cute names and only one dog :confused3

Dh is starting the big wooden fence tonight. :woohoo: He will have it done by Sunday. We do have a large screened in Patio area to use until the fence is done too.

Kathy...you mentioned in one of your threads that you were going to be ironing??? Not too familiar w/ that concept! :rotfl: We usually pull the stuff and hang it as soon as possible, then if necessary a quick touch up w/ the iron, but never been one to actually set aside a time for ironing! Fortunately DH's job is casual attire. He can even wear jean shorts, etc.

Sounds awesome about the dog. One Sunday morning we had 2 kitties walk up to our house. They really were hungry and we fed them some broken up dog food, but our Springer Spaniel just went crazy around them. We didn't even think twice about keeping them. I was never a fan of cats. Well the strongest, biggest one was such a sweetheart. I named her SweetPea. The smaller one had caked eyes and was very skittish. (we called her Skittles) On about the 3rd night of sleeping under our deck (they wouldn't leave), SweetPea didn't wake up. I bawled like a baby. Like uncontrollable sobbing. I guess I felt responsible. The night before, she mewed, and mewed at our screen door, but I didn't let her in because of the dog. Anyhow, the next day we took the other one into the vet and spent $60. They said the other probably died from a respiratory infection that got into her lungs as she slept. We were leaving on vacation in a week and didn't know what we would do w/ the other kitty and didn't want to leave her outside. My DH found someone at work who lived on a farm that offered to keep her. We were getting ready to get in the car to take her, and once again, I started bawling. (I'm really not that emotional.) We found someone who volunteered to keep her while we were gone and she had cats so ours learned how to use the litter box. We went to a Restaurant while we were gone called Millie's that had all kinds of cat stuff that we ooed and awwed over. (Prior to this I never would've even looked twice) Anyhow, we named her Millie and have had her ever since. 4 years this week!! She's now a little lover and can't imagine life without her. The dog even gets along w/ her. Good luck w/ your doggy. I think to this day of our kitty out in a barn somewhere in the dead of winter.

Here are a couple of pics of the pets. http://www.tarabranz.com/Nav.aspx/Page=%2fPageManager%2fDefault.aspx%2fPageID%3d1870 52

Tara,
loved the pictures. We have never had a cat, DH is highly allergic to them. He swells up and cant breath!! But we have had acouple of dogs over 20 years ago. it was just so hard to loose them for all of us so the kids pretty much stuck to fish and hamsters til they grew up then they got dogs.
I am so excited!! Dh says he cant believe how happy I have been over a DOG!! Of course he doesnt admit how he feels about dogs, but I know.

Still thinking of a name for her. I have had a lot of votes for Minnie and Buttercup so far. :cheer2:

I went shopping today and forgot the cruise stuff :confused3 I was going to get, but I got a doggie carrier, a dog bed, a rug for her to lay by my chair, a harness and leash ( hot pink), some potty training helpers and a couple of toys. still need to get some food for her to eat. Will get that tomarrow.
I also got a appt for a grooming sesssion saturday morning to have her ears cleaned, nails trimmed, and flea treatment. Then on the 5th she has a appt with a vet for a check up and test for heart worms. So I am off to a good start. :woohoo:

After this weekend maybe I will be able to get back to cruise stuff. I have so much to do still.
Hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Ummm...would you like a Springer Spaniel to go along w/ your new dog?? I'm ready to give mine away! I just looked over and there was a huge pile of green stuffing that he was playing w/!!! What is that!!??? Here my m-i-l bought Ava a small colorful soccer ball the other day. I said, "she has to keep that at your house or the dog will think it is his." I guess somehow it made it to our house and inside. My DH cleaned out the car yest. and must've brought it in. Totally destroyed!!! He's 8 too! Grrrr!!! He also ate a cracker and a cookie from the high chair today. Actually a few weeks ago I called and spoke to a personal trainer for him. He's got a lot of bad habits that need to be broken. ie. jumping on the highchair, grabbing her toys, etc. He's VERY smart and knows how to manipulate. As soon as I pick up the phone and start dialing, he gets up and starts walking along the counter, grabbing things off of it, taking a big chunk out of the toilet paper. Are you sure you want a dog??? lol! You sound like me when we got the dog, buying so much stuff. I surprised my DH, he wasn't too happy. I thought he'd be an outside dog, since my parent's Springer was for the 1st couple of years. Not sure why I thought this because I couldn't even keep him out there for 1 night and I am totally anti-outdoor dogs. But I bought a dog house, a big huge chain (the dog weighed about 8 lbs), and he nearly hung himself from our steps (horrible, horrible) Needless to say, we took the doghouse back and traded it for a crate. Never thought I'd use that either, but he actually loves it. He's incredibly loyal to a fault and we love him dearly, but whew he can be a handful! Keep us up to date!

My DH & DD are both big time cat people. When I met my DH he had 4 cats all brothers & sister that the mom had in his car that he was working on. The last one died when he was 17 about a year and a half ago. When Aerial was about 4 years old this cat adopted us. :rotfl: He started hanging around and we would feed him outside before we knew it he was diving over us to get inside the door. We kept trying to keep him out but he would jump over us when we opened it. But, he really was a very good pet. He became my DD's best friend and would let her do anything to him. THe funniest part is we thought it was a girl, I guess he had been fixed, we didn't figure it out for at least 2 years, we had named him Ms. Meow. :rotfl: Anyway, he slept with Aerial he spent all his time with her, he would go in and out though and when Aerial was about 9 he was outside and my DH accidentially ran over him in his truck. My DD was beyond devastated and still 3 years later misses him and cries. About a month later we brought my DD to the humane society to adopt a kitty. We found a 4 month old cute little tabby girl and adopted her. Well, it's funny how animals get attached to a certain person in the house, like Ms. Meow did with Aerial. Our new baby kitty, we named Mitsi, she is a Momma's girl. I am the one who can take pets or leave them really. Everyday when I get home from work she jumps on the back of my chair and waits for her kiss from me. She's always right with me. I've totally fallen in love with her. She will be 3 this year. Well after the 17 year old kitty died about a year and a half ago Mitsi was all alone. We were at my Aunt's house and a cat had just had kitties in her flower bed. That was July 4th last year. A month later we went back to my Aunt's house and they had one left, they were going to get rid of it and we couldn't take that, so we took her home. Mitsi, the Momma's girl was really jealous at first. The funniest thing is, she plays king of the mountain if the baby kitty, who we named Charlotte, gets on the back of my chair. That is Mitsi's spot. So now Charlotte doesn't even try anymore to get there. :rotfl: Charlotte is more like what my DD wants. She will let my DD hold her like a baby and pet her all day. Charlotte is now like the bratty little sister. :rotfl: She is always into everything while Mitsi sits on my chair. Nothing like our pets, we love them. :goodvibes

Good morning all,
Tara,
I love spaniels. We had a cocker spaniel when I was a kid. She was so beautiful. I'm sure I will be finding things left in a mess too. Hopefully nothing of value to me. i figure it is like having alittle kid, if you dont want something played with or broken, put it up HIGH or it is my own fault if it gets destroyed.

Marcy,
I like cats, but I knew when i got married we could NEVER have one. My DH is highly allergic to them. He gets deathly ill!!
It sounds like your kitty knew if she wanted to stay she had better get close to you, because MOM's always seem to have the final say about things around the house. She is pretty smart!!

Well I think we are down to a few names now.
DS wants Minnie because she has big eyes and ears like Minnie Mouse. ::MinnieMo Of course DS works at WDW so he is a little predijust.
Also like Buttercup, Princess, Cookie. :goodvibes
There are so many cute names and only one doggie to name. I told DH maybe when he goes to pick her up he should being home #2 dog for a companion for her and that would use another name. :thumbsup2 But he wasnt too crazy about 2 dogs. Too much pooper scooper job with 2 dogs. Ha! Ha! :rotfl:
But there are so many beautiful animals at the shelter, it is so hard to leave them there. that is why I DON'T go, I would be devistated and crying. So DH has to go. I just done understand how come so amny people abuse thier animals or dont check with the shelters when they loose a dog to see if it has been turned in. :confused3
Oh well, I cant save them all, but I can give one a loving home. :woohoo:

I need to go out to walmart this morning and buy some stuff for my door signs for our August cruise. I was going to buy that stuff yesterday, but once I got there I forgot about it and bought all doggie stuff! oops!! :rotfl2:
I do need dog food today, but after that I need to think about cruise things.

suppose to have afternoon thunderstorms around noon, so will go out early. I woke up at 3 a.m. and couldnt go back to sleep. I hate it when that happens because I am tired all day.

Have a great day everyone, if you have any last minute names, let me know, I still have a coupel days to decide!!

hello friends,
I will try this again. i had a post all done and the computor turned it self off. guess i wasn't to talk yesterday. the girls and i were out looking for formal dresses this week. maddie my youngest is very easy to fit so I am looking for a deal. we saw a few but no decision yet. margaret on the other hand is abit more particular...such is life with a 15 year old.

Rain started the day but it did turn out warm and sunny here in buffalo ny. my folks came over and we sat on the porch for much of the afternoon.

Addysmom, my ds jacob will be joining us for the cruise as well he is in dayton at ud and works at unison as well. He will be a senior next year and he really likes ohio. i am afraid i might loose him to your state.

after reading all the posts I think i am alittle behind in the ressie. two years ago charlie hit while we were in universal. we had contracted fl tours to take us to port but they never showed. I even called them the night before asking what they would do in case of a hurricane. they weren't very nice and thought i was nuts for asking the question. so this time i think i will use some one else. due to the storm over 900 guests did not make it on the magic that cruise. we ended up calling for a limo that was all that was available, but we did make it on time.

since most of that trip was switched around I thought this western cruise i would just pull out my old notes and do what was planned two years ago.

I don't have much to say about pets with four kids its all i can do to keep the house clean but maybe if the kids begin to leave a kitty would be nice. well if my computor continues to work :wave2: i'll keep in touch

Hello again, :wave2:

I’m so busy…I seem to find the time to read, but can’t find the time to post! So much to catch up on.

First….wow, the pet action on this board! I’ve never had a house pet of any sort. I’m gone from 6:30 am to 6:30pm (at least) everyday…so it never seemed fair to keep an animal in the house all day. My DH is wavering though. His work has loosely adopted a cat that trolls the area. :cat: It is the tiniest full-grown cat I’ve ever seen and it just had SEVEN kittens! Amazing. Anyhow, he has promised Addison that she can bring one home. I’m not sure what I think about the idea yet! We are thinking of names now too. My pet name for Addison has always been “Atta Atta” (I have no idea why I say it twice…she was addicted to A Bug’s Life from ages 15 months to about 3!) So she wants to name the kitten “Princess Atta” if it’s a girl princess:…and get this…she wants to name it “Mike” if it’s a boy. Too funny. :lmao:

Artie137, I’m having formal issues at my house too! Addison is adamant that her dress not look like an Easter dress. No pastels! It’s hard to find a black dress for a 6 year old. We’ve been hunting on the internet. I’m wearing my favorite dress. I bought it for a work Christmas party years ago and I always get so many compliments when I wear it. It’s uncanny because it’s not really unusual or anything.

That is so cool that your DS is in Dayton! I know so many UD alums (you can tell him I’m a Wright State grad…but he might turn his nose up at me! I went to grad school at Colorado State… so I had a chance to redeem myself!) I’m curious to hear what a rep from the college-set thinks of a Disney Cruise.

We booked our airfare through Disney (I searched…looking for a steal I could book myself…but the best I could do was a couple hundred dollar difference and I figured it was worth $75 bucks a piece to have piece of mind and convenience. I just called and got our flight info. We're direct from Dayton to Orlando on the 5th  but we have a nightmare trip home...an 11:15 out of Melbourne  and a connection in Atlanta. :headache: Oh well...at least that's the flight back and not the way there!

I should get back to work. I’ve posted a novel here. Have a great day!
:mickeyjum

Well I have returned from the ungruling heat of Las Vegas. I swear the temp never dropped below 90 degrees and hey that was at midnight! I thought my flipflops were going to melt everytime I crossed the street. I sat at the pool starting at 8:00am and had to go inside by noon because by then it was 107-109 degrees outside. I did have a great time shopping though! I found so many things there but I am waiting patiently for my anniversary gift (jewerly) in St. Maarten or St. Thomas. Why spend an arm and a leg in LV when it is cheaper in the islands. I am so proud of myself I didn't drop a penny at the casinos. I didn't feel the luck so I thought I would save and spend it on the cruise.

Speaking of critters I better let my two little Malteses outside they are wanting to go out and play.

GOOD FRIDAY MORNING !!! :thumbsup2

Well we are now another week closer to our cruise :woohoo:

Time is really flying by. I bought stuff for my door signs but havnt had the time to get started yet. That is my goal for next week. I need to do one cruise project per week and I will be ready on time to go! :hourglass

Well today the doggie stork will pay us a visit! :cloud9:
She is getting spayed this morning and we can get her this afternoon.
We have it down to 2 names now, by family vote. Minnie and Pixie are the two top choices. I was partial to buttercup until my youngest grandaughter informed me that it cant be Buttercup because the BAD girl on the powerpuff girls is named Buttercup and my new puppy is not bad.
You cant win again the logic of a grandchild, so didnt even try. :rotfl:

It is going to be :sunny: again today.

Good luck with the new dog. She is a very lucky dog indeed! :goodvibes

I can't believe how fast time is going. I know that the summer is half over when the 4th of July gets here.

I wonder how everyone got to port today. Today was the launch of the space shuttle and of course that will make the traffic all the much worse for the people getting to port.

It is very hot here in the midwest, but not as hot as it was in Las Vegas. I swore my shoes were beginning to melt when walking outside. I think it was around 111 degrees most of the time I was there with the low as 87 degrees. I am just hoping for some nice weather for sailing.

Well everyone have a great weekend and a safe 4th of July.

Hi everyone,
well we are getting really close to cruise time now!! :hourglass

I was all set to watch the shuttle launch from our back yard yesterday, but no such luck. :guilty: I think today will probably be too cloudy to see it, if it launches. I like to watch it goes up at night especially. It really looks neat at night. Oh well, we'll see if we can catch it today or not. I can always :happytv: it on TV if need be, but it's not the same.

Today we start house breaking Minnie and will put her harness on for the first time, so she will not be too happy :guilty: the next few days. But it is necessary to do.
DH has almost finished the fence, then she can run around a lot more. :thumbsup2

Are you guys all set for the cruise? Got all your clothes and found room to pack them all? How about door signs? :confused3
I still need to do the door sign. At least I did buy the magnetic sheets the other day. So I hope to finish that project up this week.

You are right about packing. I think this time I am packing only the necessary items. My DH & I will probably just share one bag and then a carry on. I didn't need 2/3 of the clothes I brought last time.

Today is 1 month until we fly out of here to Florida!!!! :woohoo: Yesterday I bought a new ink cartridge and I bought the magnetic sheets the day before so today I am going to work on signs. I also have to go grocery shopping today and get a pedicure. Only things I really need to get now are disposable water cameras and bonine. My friend just got back from a cruise and told me she would give me her bonine, so maybe I don't have to buy any. My DH still has to go get some dress shoes. Just think in a couple of weeks we will have our docs!!!

What's everyone doing for the 4th? Tomorrow we are going to the Astro's game. We are bringing Cosmo with us. I will post a pic.

Well I say that now, but we'll see. I am sure my baggage will be so much less due to not taking DS with us. I am one of these people who will just do a little washing (that is in the sink) while sailing. Last time I took way too much stuff and never wore it. I will probably be in my swimming suit the most with just a cover up. I am taking some nice dresses though for the dinners. Right now I am going to go look up our old Navigators to see what I think I might want to do while on the ship.

Have a great rest of the weekend! :goodvibes

Good morning everyone!!

I am just trying to keep us bumped up to page one. :goodvibes
I keep thinking there must be a few more families out there to join our group,
because we are so close. :hourglass
No launch today so it is pretty quiet here in Florida today.
lots of :sunny: today.
I am off to take a friend to the airport this morning. I have never driven there from this house where we now live. So it should be interesting. Getting there wont be too bad, but getting turned around to get back ok will be a challenge.
I am not good at directions , :confused3 even though I have 2 sets of them to help me.
well if I find my way home I will post again late tonight or tomarrow to keep us bumped up.

I have a question. We are booked for the 12 metre regatta and then a personal tour afterwards with Joyce Prince. Do you think I could get Joyce to pick us up where the regatta is, or do we have to take the Disney transportation back to the ship and get picked up there?

Hello everyone -

You can count us in too!!!! It will be me, DH, DD5 and DS4 (turning 4 on the cruise). This is our 3rd Disney cruise and we are total Disney addicts. We love WDW too and try to go at least once or twice a year.

We are driving from Virginia on the 4th and will stay at WDW for 4 days after the cruise.

We would love to join in the DIS meet that is scheduled and meet some new cruise friends.

Talk to everyone soon.

Gretchen and family.
I am glad you are going to make the meet. The more people the better it will be!!
I am a Disney addict too. :thumbsup2 My house is filled with disney stuff. One bedroom is entirely themed Disney. You can't eat in my dining room because I have tons of disney stuffed animals placed on and around the table. King Louie is swinging from the chandelier with a treasure map under his arm. The others are dressed as pirates and are having a pirate party. I saved the pirate gold coins from the ship and placed around them and the glasses they are using are the tall plastic cruise line souvenir glasses you can buy the first day.
I change the theme with the holidays too.
My pool deck has silouettes of mickey, donald, and goofy painted on it. :artist:
My kitchen is covered with disney cookie jars too. My china closet is filled with all things disney. And that is only part of it!!
we live close to WDW so get to go all the time. Our youngest DS works for WDW as a manager at a resort too. So we are truly a disney family here.
I am looking forward to getting to know you over the next few weeks.

Wow Kathy, you sure do sound like a Disney-aholic!! I can say that I don't have 1 visible Disney item anywhere. Kinda sad I guess, but I never really got into it that much. Hard to believe we are in love w/ the DCL. My DH, Rob, is more into the Disney stuff than I am, but I'm way more into the cruises and water, etc. He loves the cruises too, but it's more for the stuff. Sounds like your house is pretty fun!!

How's it going w/ Minnie?

We're still waiting on our GTY room assignment. I'm thinking we'll get it tomorrow or the next day due to the holiday, but I've noticed that some people receive them a month out. The anticipation is killing me. I just hope we get something a little better than a 12. I still haven't booked my flights yet. Sometimes the closer you get, and the flights aren't sold out, you can get a really good deal. Airtran keeps sending me specials. The one thing though was getting home. The price went WAY up on the afternoon flights. I'm also waiting on a commission check that I should have tomorrow. I need to sell a couple more houses before I leave so I can enjoy myself w/out worrying! (I just got a call this morning from someone who just moved into a house that there is water in the basement!! Happy 4th!! :guilty: )

Have a nice holiday everyone! DH is working. He was supposed to be off but then found out he'd get time and a half if he works so why not!! Extra spending money! :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

Howdy,
well, we had a unusual 4th.
I was out back for a few minutes and I heard a loud BOOM!! I looked through the crack in the wooden fence and saw lots of BIG FLAMES!!
The neighbor behind us ( across a little one lane road) had a large fire burning in his yard. Well away from his house, but very close to the chicken coop. I could see it climbing up trees and crackling very loud!! It was very windy, so kind a scary to think it could come our way. It took about 15 minutes before the fire department got there. But I was very happy to see them!! :goodvibes
Then minnie got all shook up over the noises and and bright flashes. She was barking ( for the 1st time) and running around circles in the yard at top speed. It was crazy. She was so stiff!! Finally got her in the house to calm her down. But the fireowrks lasted until close to midnight, so we had a very long night!!! I do feel like a new mom who has just stayed up all night with a fussy baby.
Well that is how our 4th went.
How did you guys do?
Anything special happen? :confused3

I payed off the Limo today too!!! 4 weeks from today we will be flying out.

Kathy, how about the shuttle launch? Did you get to see it? My dog, Beau, a springer (um...hunting dog...?? We don't hunt w/ him though) didn't want to go outside until after midnight because of all the fireworks too! The first time he ran away from home was on the 4th about 5 or 6 years ago. We didn't know he was outside and we were next door at the neighbor's. One of our other neighbor's lit an M80 and they said the dog ran around the house and slammed into the garage door, then took off down the road. He was gone for an hour and a half. We have an invisible fence, so that's why we didn't know he was outside alone. I felt so bad.

Well, I think I'm returning the bikini after eating like a piglet this weekend. BLAH!! I became a junk food junkie!! Back on the Beach today as they say. (South Beach Diet)

We got our room assignments this morning. The anticipation is over. We did get a cat. 11, sideways room, which they say is better w/ a stroller, etc. I think that was the first type of room we ever had, so we just didn't know any different. We're in 6515 forward. Gotta git....Ava's yellimgf C cvvv andtyping w/ her toes!!

Tarabra

Marci, I've never done any of the spa stuff onboard. I guess I just don't want to spend that money. One of my clients just got me a manicure and pedicure as a thank you, so I am going to get that done before we go. (note to self...don't forget to make an appt. for that) I can't believe it's less than a month now!! Yeehaw!! We are having picture perfect weather here. 75 and no humidity. I sat out in the sun a little yest. so I won't fry while on the ship. I have to get out there for a little bit today too. It's actually almost chilly, but I won't complain. I have the air cond. off, so saving a little bit of cash on that!

I still need to book our flight. Air tran keeps offering good deals, but the return trip is like $397 ONE WAY per person!!! Unless we leave at 9:51 am. Blah! (we actually did get bumped up once to a 10:30 flight, but I'd hate to take a chance.

Well, my old (only a year old) printer blew up (not really...it just quit working) yest., so they sent me an "upgrade" for ONLY $169. I got it today already, so I've gotta install it. I think my daughter had something to do w/ its demise. She loves to press the buttons on it, but the help desk guy had me do a million different things to no avail! I do use it alot w/ my work, so I did give it a good workout. I was so distressed yest. I kept telling my DH I can't get anything done around here...hmmm...do ya think checking the boards many times a day has anything to do w/ that??? :rotfl: :confused3

I really don't get a chance to get sun. So I start Fake Baking next week. !0 sessions for twenty dollars. Just have a couple items to pick up for the cruise so anything we find now is a bonus. Went shopping to Macy's and found a size one, little black dress, (for my daughter, not me) It will be perfect for formal night. Just got to find her shoes. Sue, I've been tanning too. Actually my DH bought me a year of tans for valentines day so I've been tanning for a while. I go about twice a week and have managed to get my DH into to for the cruise. He's been tanning for a few weeks.

Minnie is a cutie! Ava was walking by when the pic popped up and she got all excited and said something in her little gibberish and pointed!!

As far as tanning beds go, I usually buy a package before our spring cruises, but now just getting some au naturel! I tan pretty well, but that's only w/ a pretty good base. Plus that Caribbean sun is wicked!! I was just telling my mom, I remember when I was 17 and we went to the Bahamas. The 1st couple of days I wore SPF 4 (!!!!) and didn't get anything. So I went down to a 2 or just oil and SIZZLE!!!! Dumb move! I don't think they had SPF 15 and 30, etc. back then. But 4 did the trick.

Well, off for a walk.....after spending half the day setting up my new printer!! Pretty cool, but it sucks when it tells you that you don't have enough disk space when you have entire drive that is empty. Somehow I was able to figure it out. Whew!

Hi Tarabra family. :Pinkbounc In reply, no we were not able to be at the Akron Zoo today. Both my husband and I had to work. And besides we have an injured child at home. :confused3 One week ago today, the last day of summer camp our Daughter Christina had the misfortune of being bit on the back of her calf by what they think could have been a recluse spider.(OOPS WE FORGOT TO TELL MOM AND DAD SO WE COULD GO SWIMMING). That night I took her swimming, and I think the chlorinated water helped disinfect her bite, by Sunday she had one large inflammed area on the back of her calf, the size of an golf ball. So now, antibiotics, and topical creams, no swimming means sad child. :guilty: Leg is doing much better. Taking Martha the beagle for a walk, doesn't compare to swimming, but keeping her active.

Pirate night and formal night are the only suggested dress nights. The other nights are considered casual dress. By themed I think they are referring to the menus. Each night the menu has a different theme, cant remember what they were on the Eastern, But your style of dress only changed on formal night and pirate night. So I'm sure your clothes will be just fine.

I worked on my very first door sign this weekend. I printed it perfectly (after 2 tries) on magnetic paper and hung it proudly on the fridge. Not 2 minutes later, my DH gets out a can of Coke, pops open the tab, and sprays the sign!

Now it's dripping. He tells me it looks like I meant for that to happen.

Oh well...I have one more sheet left. This time I'll keep it sealed!

I've made 3 signs and I'm going to make mickey heads. We've decided to make a bunch of extra mickey heads to give at kids looking at our signs. Last year they wanted our mickey heads. Then we are making one with each of our names on it. I haven't printed any yet. One sign I used a sunset picture that I took on the Wonder, One is a pretty mickey head I found, and a pirate one. I may still do one for formal night. We have to bring a few of my DH's things to the cleaners. Next weekend I am bringing my DD shopping to get her last few things. Gloria, look on page 2 of this thread I posted a picture of my door on the Wonder. It was my first cruise. Most people do one just saying the name of the ship the date, things like that. Then maybe a pirate one for pirate night, a formal one for formal night. It's just a fun way to be creative and keep us busy before the cruise, plue be able to spot your door easier. You can get the magnetic sheets at Wal-Mart they go right through your printer. I hope I helped some.

:sunny: Heat - well we live in Phoenix, AZ where the temps are over 100 every day. Yes you can cook an egg on the pavement. :rotfl2:
Pets - :dogdance: we have a Standard Poodle who just turned 1 year -- Our last one past away at 14 years old. This one is just not the same as the last one. He has been in the Dr's office way too much. Had my dtr's sock removed from his stomach in May. He eats them like candy.
((tried to add picture but did not work))
FRONT page - maybe put the room number on the first page too. & the meeting time & place for first day.

Plans: We are coming to WDW in the 2nd -- staying at the Poly (this was a hard decision) I really wanted to stay on the monorail system as to not rent a car) GF was only $150 more - & contemporary was much less expensive - :confused3 ) Chose Poly per they have a kids club & great theme. My dtr can pretend she is Lilo.
Cruise - planned Palo for Thursday night -- hope that is not the pirate night. was able to get a bunch & tea also.. Planned an Eco tour for CC. I have always want to ride a jet ski.

Did I read someone else has a girls 4 & 6 coming??

What is a Navigator? Is it sometype of listing of activities to do on the ship??
Does someone have the Limo number for scheduling ride to port?? Sp wants to get there very early.

We are on the 8/5 Magic but this is the first time I have posted. We have taken our older Grandchildren on 6 other cruises, but this will be the first time their 5 year old sister is coming along. Since there is a great age difference, brother is 12 and sister is 11 she will be alone in the clubs. She is really looking forward to the cruise, has watched the vidoe and has been told a lot. If anyone sees a little girl with long dark brown hair and big brown eyes looking lost in the clubs please have your child give her a smile. I will be with her the first night, since I have heard the rules have changed. Getting excited, not too many days to go!

My goodness, your dog swallows socks? We had a toy poodle growing up. We got her when I was about 10 and she was still alive when I had my DD at 23. I miss her.

We are arriving at WDW on the 2nd too, we'll be at the Caribbean Beach Resort.

I have put room numbers of the people I know. If anyone else wants their room number posted please let me know. I also added the meet to the first page. Thanks for the input. Any and all is welcome. :goodvibes

You will get a Navigator everyday, it's a schedule of all the days events. I'm not sure of the limo number off hand, I will look around and see.

I'm glad you was able to post again. :goodvibes

I have a 12 year old grandson coming too, his name is Andy, although he doesnt know he is coming. His sister Ana is 15 and doesnt know about the cruise yet either. Maybe Andy and Derek will get aquainted, I see he is 12 too.

Marcie,
When you are at the Caribbean Beach , if you see a manager in the merchandise area or food area, look for his name. if it says Peter, be sure and say hello!! That will be my #4 child. Of course he isnt a kid, but he is to me. He has very short hair, is 24 years old, wears wire rim glasses is about 6' 1 and weights about 175 I think. His days off change all the time, this week it is thursday and friday, but who knows he may be there when you are??

Our family :grouphug: has certainly been growing lately!! AWESOME!!!

Hey everyone!!!! We are getting close and the whole family is counting down the days.

I have a big party that I'm planning for this Saturday (Luau) and I should be working on things for that but I just can't keep my mind off the cruise.

AZ Realtor - I actually posted that I have a daughter who is 5 (she'll be 6 in August) and a son who will be turning 4 on the cruise. Hopefully, you and your family can make the meet at 3pm and we can introduce them to each other so there will be a familiar face for them in the club sometimes.

Markey - I have a daughter who is 5 (she'll be 6 in August). Like I said to AZ Realtor, come to the DIS meet, so they can meet.

Talk with everyone soon, back to Luau planning.

Hey gang at the moment we are in cabin 7539, but that can change too. We are doing an inside cabin for the first time, so I am definitly going to have to bring an alarm clock with us or I will have Mickey wake me up every am. Last cruise we had a verandah so I didn't have to worry about not getting up because of the natural light but now with nothing it will be quite interesting. My DH told me either we could have a verandah or I could get jewerly in St. Maarten, well I guess the jewerly won out. We have changed room numbers twice now, so I won't be for sure we are at until we check in. Lets hope for another upgrade. :thumbsup2

LAP rotation is Lumiere's, Animator's Palate, Parrot Cay. That's what we've had our last 5 cruises, but I'm sure w/ DD we will have something different. Usually LAP rotation is mostly adults. I think they figure the kids will be more entertained in the other restaurants first. It's going to be tough to change, but it'll all be good!

I screwed up BIG TIME today! I got a special deal from Air Tran, and it was MUCH better than last week's deal. I wanted to check on rental car rates so we could rent a car on the day back at the airport to just kill some time, and I wanted to check out other rates. Well, by the time I got around to booking, the flights were gone on the flight home. Grrrr!!! I've booked 2 weeks out before. They keep adding flights based on need. We may not end up in FL afterall!!

Ava is REALLY getting into Mickey Mouse. A little too into him! I was pulling up the live shows on the Disneycruiseline site, and now she's obsessed! She keeps going, "Mouse, mouse!!" I'm glad she is recognizing him. Oh no...she is saying it again!!! I absolutely can't wait now for her to see him onboard!!

AZREaltor...you'll appreciate this! I sold a house today!! One that's been on the market since SEPT.!!! It's next door neighbor is a major highway. I got them to drop the price and we got a full price offer!!! Thank God!! I had 4 closings in June, so that's why we booked, then hit a little dry spell! Now I can spend a little more cash on the ship! I also need to get on the ball and get some more listings. I don't take on a bunch due to the baby, but I like to keep around 5 or so. I'm down to 1! Yikes!

Getting very excited as the days get closer!

Just booked Radisson Resort at the Port for Friday night before the cruise. Anyone else staying there that night? If anyone is looking for a place to stay, I actually got a better rate by booking directly with Radisson than any rate I saw online. Just an FYI.

So what seating does everyone have for dinner? We have the early seating, which is a first for us. We've always booked too close and have had to take the late seating. since you are arriving a few days early, are you going to WDW for a few days? By your post I know you have cruised before, how many times have you cruised? This is be #12 for us. Our grandkids are coming too. But they are 12 and 15. They dont know about it though, we arn't telling them. They will figure it out when we pull into the port instead of going to the beach as we have told them.

Gretchen, we have late seating, but we are going to try and change it when we get on board. If we cant get it changed we will eat in the buffet for the 5 nights it's open. The other two nights we will do something else for dinner. We just cant eat that late or we dont sleep well. Hopefully we will be able to change it, we have had good luck before when we needed to change.

If you go here and pick an Eastern, look at everyday's navigators and you can see what everyday will be.

I ordered a basket from the perfect gift. Shirley the owner is so very sweet.
http://www.theperfectgift.cc/index.html I got the number from the website. I used her the last cruise too. This time we just ordered one basket for all 3 of us. The main thing we are wanting is Dr. Pepper. They don't have Dr. Pepper at WDW so by the time we get on the ship we will want some. So, I got a 12 pack, half diet half regular. Snacks, like M&Ms, Oreos & bubbles for my daughter at the sail away party, glow necklaces for the deck at night and pirate night. I got it all in a Disney bag. Last time I got a basket for my daughter and husband seperate, they were a surprise. His was pirate themed and hers was about like this time. They can also put sand toys in them for the beach.

I need to order my DH one. I think I am going to get him a combination of his favorites: Dr. Pepper, Bud Light, Dots and Cashews. I think I will see if Shirley can put it in a bucket of some kind. That way we can just keep putting ice in it to keep things cold.

Question...will this be weird for Pirate night? I forgot I bought my DD21mos a cute little Halloween dress at Walmart for $2 last Oct. for this year. It's like a maiden dress w/ corset type tie up front, black netting for the arms, black netting over the skirt, BUT has spiders and webs in the netting and the body of it is orange!! I put it on her today and she went crazy in it. Running around all excited! I think it'll be fine, except for the fact that it is orange. I pulled out my red and black vampira type dress and I think now I may be getting into Pirate night. I just don't know what to put on Ava's head or face.

Also very exciting AVA SAID HER FIRST TWO WORD SENTENCE!!! Guess what it was???? Gibberish, gibberish, MOUSE SLEEPY!!! Yes, THAT mouse!! She's been addicted to the Disney.com website and the live shows on DCL.com. So after looking for a half hour last night I told her that Mickey had to go to sleep for the night. About 15 minutes later while sitting on the potty, she said Mouse sleepy!! Too funny! WHAT have we created!! She'll be so excited onboard!

I didn't even think about the cruise docs today when FedEx rang the doorbell. It actually was something related. A belated Mother's Day gift from DH. The Birnbaum's DCL 2006 guide book. Ava already delved through it looking at the mouse!!! I can't wait to read it myself!

How's Minnie doing Kathy?

Tara,
at dinner your DD will receive a pirate bandana to wear if she wants. all of you will get this towards the end of dinner. so if you dont find something before the cruise, you will have that for her. They also have face painting so kids look like they have an eye patch of mustache for pirate night. Not sure of the cost, but saw tons of kids last time with their faces painted, so cant be too expensive.

Minnie is doing great. he has learned to use her doggie door all by herself and is house trained too. She trained easier than any pet we have ever had!! Only one scolding when she pee'd on the carpet and that was it, she has gone outside since then. AllI did was tell her what a bad dog she was and pointed at it an d put her outside.
In September I am taking her to a doggie training class to learn to walk properly on the leash so we can go for walks, plus to sit and stay and to come when I call. It is a 6 week course so have to sneak it in between this cruise and the next one in November. She was terrified of a kitten at the grooming place yesterday. Kind of embarassing for me :rotfl2:
My dog was afraid of a tiny kitten when it meowed at her??? :confused3
Maybe she hasnt ever encountered a kitten before, I dont know. I told my DH he can take her next time :goodvibes

Kathy, that's good news about Minnie. Maybe she was already housebroken at some point. I saw a cute little hat on the website that someone posted that was only a couple of bucks. It looks like it is outlined in yellow, so it would go w/ her orange dress. This dress comes w/ a little witch hat that she did manage to keep on for a little, but she's usually not real keen on keeping her hats on. You can have some of our rain! We have flood warnings all over here in Ohio!

Talk to you later,

[B][I] Well, I'm new here and don't even know where to begin, but I'm UNDENIABLY thrilled to go on this cruise. There are three in my party --> as I'm not familiar with the acronyms and such, I'll just give you a little run down. There's me (single mom, 30), my son's grandmother and one of my best friends (she's single and will kill me if I tell her age), and my son who's 9. This is my birthday gift to the both of them. My son's birthday is August 12th and his grandmother's is September 23rd. She's a serious Disney fanatic.

So - any tips, thoughts, ideas on every possible aspect of this thing are more than welcomed. Please school me on the theme nights. Do I have to go out and buy costumes? Are there any singles events? Are there many singles at all -- besides women? *smile* I look foward to responses!!!
