:wave2: Hi to Melissa & Ariel -- happy early birthday to you both. I am sure you will find other people your age on the cruise.
Tara - I am confused had your listing contract ended and they are chosing not to renew with you?? It is weird to have the other agent tell you & not the Seller. Sorry ... well :yay: jump for joy our vacation is here. Hope to catch up on the boat.
We are leaving very early in the morning...will not have anymore access to internet.
I wish you all a safe & stress free trip. :wizard:

Hi Ariel and Melissa!!!
Melissa, my grandaughter is 15 and she is coming. Her name is Ana and she is from salem Oregon. She doesnt know about the cruise yet, or I know she would love to get aquainted with you.
If I know that you are going to be at the meet, I will tell her mom and maybe she will get Ana to come too. Ana usually takes off for the teens club and we dont se her the rest of the trip accept at meals. She is always looking for a firends, so I'm sure you two will hit it off. Let me know if your going to be at the meet.
Ariel,
sorry you arnt going to be 13 in time. I have a 12 year old grandson coming along, but I know sometimes guys and gals dont hang put together too much at your age.
I'm sure there will be other girls your age too.
I hope you will come and meet Ana too, she likes to hang around th epools too, so you'll probably see her around the ship even though you wont be in the same club areas.
Well the storm news is a little better today. Looks like it wont really hit here much until after we leave and that means it will be away fromthe island during the time we are suppose to be arrivng there. Maybe we will get lucky!!!
see ya soon, Kathy

Wish I could have stayed home, I am dying here at work, the clock cannot move fast enought till noon for me. Wish I could have gotten an earlier flight out tonight, but wanted non-stop so the 9:20 will have to do.
I too think we will luck out, doesn't look like the storm will hit Florida until after we leave, if at all.
Maybe your 12 yr. old grandson and mine will hit it off, don't think I would get him to the meet, maybe they will just meet up at the clubs.
This will probably be the last posting so everyne take care and have a safe trip.

Same here, I have to work until noon and our flight leaves at 9:05. I wish I didn't have to work today and could leave earlier. Oh well I'll be in florida a little after midnight. :goodvibes
BTW, Aerial loves video games and usually makes friends just as easily with boys because of that. She's not into boyfriends, just friends, her two best friends are boys and they call my house everyday. Now, at her age I was boycrazy so maybe it's a good thing. :rotfl2:

I have the TV on the weather channel and it looks like the weather will be ok. I am so jealous of all of you leaving already :guilty: I want to leave too! I work tomorrow and on Friday I need to get DS to grandma's house before we fly out. I think it would have been easier to bring him along at this point. He is going to both sets of grandparents in different cities that are about 3 hours away from each other. DS is excited though because his grandfather is flying him to my mom's house, which will only take 45 min to get there instead of the 3 hour drive.
Well I need to go finish my marathon cleaning spree.

Almost finished w/ getting ready, now just have running around to do. The library, (why did I get a bunch of books for Ava last week??), the bank, (Ouch my $1500 office bill is due while we are gone!!), and now I need to run and get my signs and keys from the listing that withdrew. The reason I'm so ticked is because their contract w/ me is until Sept. So I can basically sue them for breach of contract. I'm not the suing type, but I am MAD!
Hi Aerial...don't wish your life away about wanting to be 13 too soon! Strangely enough, I had this conversation the other day w/ my 21mosDD. She wanted to go in a jumping balloon SOOO bad, but had to be 3. I told her she'll wish she was 5 then 10 then 13 then 16 then 18 then 21 then 18.....lol!! I'm sure she didn't understand what the heck I was talking about, but it was fun offering her motherly advice!! :goodvibes
Well we have to be at the airport at 4:45 a.m. tomorrow morning! Huh??????? Talk about early. But we'll be in Orlando by 9:30 so that's cool. Let's just hope we can get into Saratoga Springs before our 4 o'clock check in! Maybe with a baby, they'll give us a room sooner. Talk to you all soon!

Howdy,
since Aerial loves video games she will probably get to know Andy.
That is his favorite thing to do too.
So we will see if they connect up sometime on the ship.
Andy doesnt look 12, he is on the small side so she may see him and think he is a couple of years younger. He is in the picture I posted of Marie and her family. he is still the same size, that picture is only a year old.
Have a safe trip everyone. :drive:
I almost feel sad that I dont have the excitement of coming to Florida for the cruise, just have to drive a little over an hour and we are there.
well I will still post tomarrow for the two or 3 of us still not on our way to the cruise yet.
See you guys in 3 days, :hourglass

Well -- this final week before cruise has already proven to be a rough one.
I have a "condition" that sent me to Urgent Care on Sunday and had me out of work Monday and Tuesday. Doc today said I'm healing well and will be fine. Then Monday I get the news that my grandmother is not doing well in the hospice and that we need to see her as soon as we can because they don't know how much longer she has . . . so I get out of the bed on Monday to go up there after I made a run . . . when I guy backs into my car. Right rear end is dented and banged up and the bumper is hanging off . . .and I didn't make it to Baltimore to see Grandma.
BUT . . . three days to go . . . and I have one question . . .
Do I need to pack an iron?

I'm sorry you are having such a rough week peculair. :grouphug: No, you can't have irons in the room. There is irons in the laundry rooms or you can send your clothes off to be ironed. It really does not cost much for that either.
I am printing mickey magnets to hand out to kids and we are bringing mardi gras beads to hand out for pirate night.
3 more hours we are leaving. :goodvibes

Melisa,
I will tell Ana's mom that you are going to be at the meet, so she can tell Ana and hopefully she will be there too. Ana doesnt know she is going on this cruise until we actually pull into the port or I know she would e-mail you.
Ana has cruised twice before on DCL, so she does know her way around the ship pretty good.
She is NOT shy, so I am sure you will hit it off ok.
Aerial, I dont know if Andy will be at the meet, but I will tell his mom about meeting you in case you are going to be there too. Andy doesnt know he is going on the cruise either. So I cant mention anything to him until we are actually there to board the ship. I dont want to spoil the surprise for him.
He has done this same cruise once before.
Melissa and Ariel, you will be able to spot Ana and Andy's mom easily at the meet, she has purple hair!!! just go right up and introduce yourselves to her and the kids. They are very friendly and not shy at all. :grouphug:
well the weather report was a little more encouraging tonight. It appears the storm has slowed down some and probably wont get to Florida til the first of the week. So hopwfully we can get on board with no problems. But that also means the storm is hanging out around the islands where we are headed to, so still not sure if we will still get to go to St.Maartin and St. Thomas???
I will continue to keep up on the progress and post what I hear. here in Florida it is all over the news every morning and evening. :thumbsup2
Time is really flying by, see everyone soon, :woohoo:

Hopefully we will see you at the meet.

just keep posting a few more times and you should be able to send a PM soon.
I think you only need 10 or 12 posts, but not 100% sure about that. :confused3
Remember for those of you leaving early for the trip we have a 3 p.m. meet in the Promenade lounge on the first day. Dont be shy, please drop by and say Howdy. It wont take long, but it will make it so nice to recognize faces around the ship. :woohoo:
Even those of you who only posted once, please come to the meet. We would still love to meet you!!! :grouphug:

Help!
We are finishing up packing tonight because we are flying to Orlando tomorrow morning at 0630 and spending two nights at AKL before cruising on Saturday.
But....DS is in bed so sick tonight! Running a fever. I know he's sick because he wanted to go to bed. Says his head hurts...I sure hope he sleeps this off whatever it is...otherwise I don't know what we're going to do.
We did buy trip cancellation insurance...has anyone ever had to use it before and cancel a trip at the last minute?

Tiffany,
How is your son this morning???
If hes a little better , maybe you could go to AK and just let him rest in the room, then decide if your going to cancel. 2 days can make a world of difference, especially with kids.
I will keep my fingers crossed, send pixie dust and say a little prayer for you that he will get all better ASAP!!!
Let me know how it's going today.

Hi Mary,
well most have gone already, just a few of us are left here today.
At least it looks like the storm will pass us by in Florida, just a rainy, blustery day when it finally gets here. Problem will still be if it will of cleard up enough for us to safely be able to get to the islands or if we will have a change of destination?? guess we wont know that til we go.
only 2 days left :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Well, I'm still here... for now. We leave tonight around 8pm. We can't wait to meet everyone. The kids are sooo excited, they have summer camp today and then we'll pack up and leave.
We will be at the port early too, so I will look for everyone. Do you know what time they let you wait across the street to park? I remember last year we got there really early (around 9am) and they told us to come back at 10am. Well when we got back at about 9:50am they told us to wait with everyone else across the street (there were quite a few people already there). If I had known I could wait, I would have just stayed (we may have been 1st). So does anyone know?
Well, off to get ready for the day and check on the weather. I really don't mind if we go to different ports or none at all. I just like being on the ship. We could sail 3 1/2 days out and turn around and come back and I would be fine with it. No use worrying about something that is out of my control.
I'll try to post again later.
Bye for now.

Question for anyone who hasn't left yet....can men wears shorts to the restaurants on cruise casual nights??? Can we bring a travel iron to use in the room? Very happy that Chris will not be bothering us!! :cool1:
mom x4,grandma x4
08-03-2006, 04:41 PM
They ask for NO shorts or tank tops in the restaurants. Although I have seen a couple of people wearing them, but they did look out of place. My DH just wears a pair of dockers or khaki's. He would love to wear shorts, but he would feel out of place , so he wears the next easiest thing.
DH usually wears a disney tropical shirt too.
They do not like for you to have irons in the rooms, due to fire hazards. Only one plug in besides the bathroom, so it would be awkward to use anyway.
There are 3 laundry rooms where there is an iron you can use for free.
But the 2 hours before dinner starts there will be a line, so do this early or very late at night to save time.
Also you can send out things to be pressed. Not sure of the costs, but it wasnt much.

Hi everyone.
I finished packing tonight except for the stuff we need to get ready. The house is sparkling...so now all that's left is pedicures and saying goodbye to grandma. Tomorrow should be an easy day. Hopefully it goes by fast.
I'll be in a light pink polo. My daughter will have on a fuschia top and my hubby is wearing a blue t-shirt. (I know...how original :rotfl: We'll just be sooooo easy to spot! )
Oh...I just remembered...important question...
WHAT DO I PUT FOR DATE OF ARRIVAL AND LENGTH OF STAY ON THE BAHAMA FORM? Do I put Tuesday on there b/c that's when we reach St. Maarten? Or do I just cover the whole cruise?
Hey...thanks for all your help the last few months helping me prepare. I'll see you all soon!

Hey Kathy, how is the storms looking? Looking at the weather channel the storm looks like it is moving west and hopefully out of the way of us. What are your local channels yapping about?
David finally got done packing! Ok maybe with much encouragement from me. :thumbsup2 He is already off to work (5:30am) so that he can be home early so we can actually make our flight. Last time we went to Las Vegas we barely made the flight along with our luggage. I told him that I am not playing that game anymore!!
I am sure I will chat with all the remaining sailors again today. See ya!

Good morning to all who are left. Probably just me and Mary today!!
The storm is down to a few wind gusts and some rain. looks like it will miss Florida all together. Maybe a few showers in the keys, but nothing to effect us.
Now I will hope for no afternoon thunderstorms during the sailaway party. I hate it when they have to move it indoors. They go to the atrium and there is no room for dancing or yelling. a few kids get on the steps to the restaurant and dance with CM's. I guess it is better than nothing, but just not the same. I am spoiled I guess.
Yes, it is still a secret. :thumbsup2 The grandkids think we are heading to Cocoa beach early in the morning tomarrow. DH has our grandson all excited thinking there is a worm farm with giant worms from Boliva and 20 pound bull frogs to see at the coast.
so then I tell GD that we will go shopping at the gift shops while the guys do the worms and frogs. She is 15 and worms and bull frog are not fun for her.
Of course there is no such thing and we are not going to the coast.
I told DH not to get Andy too excited or he may be disappointed that he is not going to see the giant worms and frogs!!! :rolleyes1
To keep the fun going, after they realise we are going on the cruise, DH is going to tell them, Yes we are going on a 3 day cruise to Nassau because you havnt been there yet. Then we will see how long it takes them to realise it is a 7 day cruise!! They may never believe their grandparents again!! :rotfl2:
Today when I sneak upstairs and do some packing it will get really hard NOT to give it away.

Kathy,
I'm still here! We don't leave for Orlando until tomorrow morning. We have an early, direct flight...so I'm not too worried about the timing.
I would have LOVED to have grandparents like you! :) What fun they will have! That is so exciting. You're right, they may never believe you guys again! Of course...the other down-side to that is one day you'll simply be asking them to go to Walmart with you...and they'll secretly think you're taking them to Disneyland! :rotfl:
We had this computer desktop counter on the computer for months. (This program is so cool. The counter is small and stays in the corner...but it always stays on top of all of the open Windows. I customized it for the Disney Cruise...sorry, got on a tangent). Anyhow, I remember when it said 100 days...and now it says 23 hours. I've spent the last 20 minutes trying to explain to my DD why it says 0 days and yet we're not on an airplane!
Well, I'm gonna get in gear and finish up my loose ends. I'll check back in later.

Almost completely packed! My place . . . well . . . I'll worry about that when I get back. As long as the trash is out and food is away, I'm happy.
I'll keep an eye out for green shirts, pink shirts and purple hair. I'll be wearing a pale pink shirt that says, "I don't bite" with a bull dog on it and my hair is a crown of twists. Not sure what my DS or his grandmother are wearing yet.
We leave tomorrow morning for Orlando. I so need this.
Gotta drop Verdell (my shih tzu) off at my best friend's house and all will be done!!

It seems weird because normally we are discussing the cruise and excursions at this point, but not a word has been uttered or the surprise would be spoiled.

Just wanted to send a quick note to say we made it! We are having a great time on the cruise! Thanks to all who offered pixie dust, magic, and prayers. DS was feeling better by the time we left AKL and he's having a good time meeting all the characters and playing in the pool.
Didn't make the meet 'n greet...maybe next time! Because we are planning another cruise again--but maybe next time with no children. ;-)

Had a blast as usual! Got home around 4:00, so still recovering. Great meeting and running into everyone! Ummm....Marcie...I can't believe I NEVER saw you again after the meet last Sat.! Pretty weird. It really was a different dynamic cruising w/ a 21 mos old. But in a good way...except at meal times!!! Ava had a ball and this morning, due to lack of sleep, during breakfast, well, she wouldn't even sit in her high chair, she was crying uncontrollably saying, "Mickey" and "beach!!" Needless to say, she didn't want to leave. Rob put on his Bob Marley CD and I'm listening to it now and being reminded of the cruise. "Don't worry...'bout a thing...every little thing's gonna be all right!!" Pretty much sums up the cruise!! I'll try to do a little trip report later! FUN TIMES!!!

Hey guys I hope you all made it home safe and sound. The airport thing wasn't too bad. I think it took us maybe 1 hour to check our baggage and then go through security. Not bad considering we are at high risk.
It was wonderful to meet everyone. It was so much fun to see parts of the group out and about.
Well I will chat with you later, I am beat!

Hey everyone it was so nice meeting you all. Tara, I know, I never saw you after the meet. :confused3
I'm transferring pictures right now. It's taking forever. Maybe that's because I took sooo many pictures. :rotfl2: Not counting water camera's we took 1029. But I already see a bunch to delete.
Gretchen, congrats on winning bingo, I took a picture of you, if you want a copy I can post it or PM you. Let me know.
Mary, we had a lot of fun hanging out with y'all. I can send you a copy of the pics of y'all too if you want.
Sue, Rick & Christina, it was nice seeing y'all one last time on the bus. I'm glad the girls got a chance to become friends.
Okay, off to bed, tomorrow I unpack and get ready for work Monday. :confused3

Getting off the ship was murder -- Had a bad night with loud neighbors then dtr just before 4 am started throwing up which lasted till about 8:30 am. Missed breakfast completely. The poor room cleaning had to keep coming back to our room with fresh sheets & towels. I guess she must have missed one of the hand washings?
Great to be back - but the trip was GREAT!!! It was nice to meet a couple of you all.

I am glad you recognized me! I just wished I would have had more time at that moment. It seems most of the time I was rushing to somewhere. I did finally take a relaxing break on Thursday and layed on deck 10 and watched finding Nemo.

Carol,
You sound like you had the same night we had that last night. Where was your room? We were in 6515. Kids running up and down the hall around 2. One of our tablemates said she had a roomful of teenagers next to her that were very loud around 2. Ava also threw up that last night. I really think it had a lot to do w/ her eating a bunch of junk at Castaway Cay, then 3 pieces of chocolate before dinner. As soon as we got on the elevator back from CC, she started sneezing, then her nose was runny the rest of the night. She wouldn't even get into her highchair at dinner she was so fussy. After dinner I tried to give her some cold drops and you would've thought I was giving her poison! She started gagging, then got sick. It was about 10:15 and a host came in to change the beds. This happened to be a guy who teased the baby all week about sucking her thumb. He even gave her a malt ball once when he saw her. I said, "don't give her any chocolate tonight!!" Fortunately she didn't throw up again, but was really stuffy and couldn't breathe well. Our tablemates also got real stuffy at CC, so maybe it was something growing on the island. She's fine now. I left a note for our regular room hostess to maybe get a carpet scrubber, etc. I know I wouldn't want to be in that room after that. I also left her a little more tip money! As well as the guy who actually cleaned it up.
Back to reality here. I still haven't started laundry! Ooops! I'm sure Kathy's is all done and ironed and put away!!! :goodvibes :rotfl2: We've been on the run ever since we got back.

Your correct,
I have all my laundry, ironing, and such done yesterday. Aslo had company on saturday. My son arrived 30 minutes after we got home for a visit with his sister before she goes back to Oregon. He brought his Lab, Poncho.
His dog loves to swim in the pool, so between him and Minnie my floors needed a good scrubbing too. Minnie has never been around another dog before so it was a bit tricky at first, but she soon warmed up to him and all went well.
This morning I finished my grocery shopping, went to the post office and made chocolate fudge pudding, cappucino mousse, french vanilla mousse for dessert tonight. all are low cal and sugar free.
This weekend we will be at WDW, so have to keep at the house work so I can enjoy the weekend. Going to take the grandkids to the movies tomarrow too.
I am happy to hear everyone is getting home safely. sorry to hear a couple of the kids got ill.
I hope someday we may connect on another cruise,
kathy

Kathy-
How in the world do you do it??? :confused3 Just reading your post made me want to go take a nap! I have most of the laundry done. Haven't even thought about the grocery store yet. I went and got DS at Grandma's today so now we are all home. He starts school on Wednesday.
Thanks everyone who made this cruise wonderful. We had an awesome time but probably won't do the cruise again without our DS. He had a great time at Grandma's.
We rebooked for a date in 2007 but are planning on moving it once the 2008 dates come out. We are sailing again in November 2007.
Anyway, I need to go get DS some shoes for school so I will talk to you later.
Hey Marcie that would be great about the photos. I only took 400. David isn't that interesting to photograph HAHA :rotfl:

Mary,
What kind of deal did you get on rebooking? I didn't get to talk to the girl about it long enough to get any prices out of her. I did ask about booking in '08, and she gave me a list of dates in '07. We just never made it back to get a price quote. Needless to say, I'm bummed. I've already started adding my points up for the Disney Vacation Club so we will probably do a week at a resort in May '07, then cruise in '08.
Got 60 of our 220 pics developed today. I have them all downloaded, but had 1 hour developing at Sam's Club, and it took forever to send them over. A real pain. Snapfish is easier, but I wanted them right away. We are having issues w/ our discs from our camcorder. Hitachi says we shouldn't have used whatever discs we used, but on the back of the case it says compatable w/ Hitachi. I'm not too happy right now. We had the Pirate night, sail away parties, etc. on it. I'm sure we'll figure something out.
Of course right now, we are watching some sort of Disney video. We've created a little monster!!

Our room number was 6042 & yes the kids were very load & also kept us up. The last night in general was not a very good night. Dont get me wrong though we loved the trip. Just wish the walls were a little more sound proof. We had boys next to us -- behind the bed who would rough house late at night & first thing in the morning. Just screaming... My older dtr (6) was also feverious & I had a sinus infection. BOO Who..
We have not booked another trip but hope to convince my sp within the next year. Wish me some motivated buyers & great listings ...

We must of hit it just right on deck 7, we had NO noise in our hallway at night. I heard a little while getting ready to go to dinner, but that was all.

Has everyone recovered from returning from their cruise yet? I'm still getting caught up. Now I'm just trying to sell a few houses to get caught up on the bills! :goodvibes We really didn't spend that much money aside from the cruise itself, but whew, it's starting to take it's toll! But, we're already starting to plan our next trip to Disney. It'll probably be in early May. Aug. was just too hot, and too crowded. That's the great thing about not having anyone in school yet. I want to hear from everyone!

Hi Tara,
yep we are all recovered here. Marie and the grandkids just left yesterday for Oregon. We had an awesome trip too. If you ever just come to WDW for a few days let me know and I'll try to pop over and say HI!!
If you ever stay at the Caribbean beach resort I have a son who is a manager there you can say Hi to.
well now we are watching Ernesto and wondering??? I feel badly for the cruisers on the Wonder on thursday they must be so upset not knowing if their flights will be cancelled or re routed and if the ship will be at port canaveral or diverted to another port. They have done that a couple times during hurricanes for safety.
Weather in May is usually beautiful!! it is in the med 70's but just starting to head up to the 80's but NO humidity yet. June can be pretty hot, so try for the first part of May. April is even better for weather.
I read your report and enjoyed it very much,
keep in touch,

Hey gang-
It is great to hear that everyone is doing well. I am now on a mission to get both the April and now August DCL scrapbooks done. That might help with the cruise depression. I just love cruising and coming back to reality is hard after such a great time.
Well we might becoming to WDW earlier than I thought. David is thinking of running the Disney Marathon in January. We would be there Thurs-Mon but that would be ok with us.
Tara, we cruised in April and loved the weather. It was picture perfect IMHO. Our next cruise is going to be in November, so who knows what that weather might be (ok Marie you would know). I wish in a way we were going back in April but I would like to see the ship decorated for the holidays. Unfortuantly we will have to take DS out of school a day or two before the holiday but I think that will be ok.
Once the 2008 dates are released we will switch the cruise we booked while on board to one of those dates. I can't wait to see what DCL has up their sleeves for the 10 year anniversary. I hope it is good!
Well I will talk to you guys later.

Hi everyone! We aren't going to be cruising in 2007 but if they do something special in 2008 we may cruise then. We may take a different vacation next year. Mary, we cruised in November last year and the water was so smooth. I would do that again, Thanksgiving was nice on the ship and all the decorations. The only thing was the water was a little cold. But, it was so nice, getting on the ship it was cold but we woke up the next morning and it was so warm on the verandah! I hate cold weather so I was loving it. Glad to see everyone is doing good. :goodvibes
