Okay, I have an embarassing question  , but I'm very worried about this. I am a size 14, my thighs touch in the middle at the top. Does anyone else have problems with chaffing? Especially after riding a wet ride like Splah Mountain? I can't stand the thought of being raw all day, but I don't want to be soaked in capris either. Any suggestions?

There is lots of talk on another thread about a product called Body Glide. If you do a search on google or something like that, you can find where to buy it.
It looks like a solid deodorant container. They say it is great for stopping blisters on feet and other chaffing issues. I got one at our local Eastern Mountain Sports store for $6.99 and I'm brining it with me.
Lots of runners use it to prevent chaffing.

Head over to the WISH board. We've all got issues there and you've got no reason to blush.
Anyway, I haven't heard anyone with the problem before. Spray deoderant is a good idea. Have you thought about a comfy skirt? Also smart riding is key, too. Wear a poncho on the water ride over at AK. ON SM, just cover your lap with your arms or something.

You can also order body glide from Amazon.com it is an awesome product, prevents chaffing all day long! I also put it on my feet and it keeps my feet from rubbing in my shoes/socks, no blisters!

Monestat makes a product and you can find it at most drug stores and I know I got my tube at Target. It works great!

This is my on-the-cheap anti-chafing tip. I have always rubbed solid deoderent (sp?) between my thighs. Works like a charm everytime!

I used to have that problem too...I now only wear jean shorts and I was using a very simple method that worked. I was rubbing lotion on my legs, where they rub together, Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion worked the best. By wearing jean shorts they do not catch as often, which is also very embarrassing when you have to straighten them down if you know what I mean..... :rolleyes2

I use Body Glide to avoid chaffing. I am a size 14 and I run up to 17 miles at a time . Body Glide has saved me.
It's available at any running store.

I used solid anti-perspirant/deodorant on my thighs. It prevented chaffing and my shorts from riding up (I hate that!!!). I also used it on my feet. No blisters!!! Make sure you get the anti-perspirant/deodorant solid and not just the deodorant solid. Works great and cheaper than Bodyglide.

Body Glide does sound like a great product. But the deodorant thing, does this work when you're wearing skirts or dresses w/no tights or pantyhose? If so, I'm going to be ticked.... I've had this problem since the birth of my DS 5 and I've been wearing these goofy biker short underwear every time I wear a summer dress! Does the deodorant also help w/the shorts riding up problem? Thanks for all of your ideas, I now feel like I'm going to be much more comfortable without losing 25lbs in 7 weeks :sunny:
the anti-perspirantworked wonders last Aug/ Sept. I've also now bought the monostat stuff not sure if it's as good as the anti-perspirant or not, might use the old method in June as it prolly won't get hot enough here to try out the monostat before leaving.

Okay...I'm venturing into the "more than you wanted to know" area  but here goes. I can't stand it when my inner thighs feel wet, sticky, and...well....slimy. I could never use lotion for chafe prevention because of that. I want to feel dry, dry, dry. Last year, to practice and prepare for Disney :lmao: , I tried the Body Glide. I found it to be waxy going on (pulled the skin instead of gliding over it) and left me slick and slimy. So I decided to try my regular antiperspirant in the nether regions. :rolleyes1 It works great. I use "Secret Platinum soft solid" and I shmear it liberally all over my inner thighs. I can wear dresses as well as shorts with no sweaty chafing :cheer2: .

I do use antiperspirant/deodorant all summer long whether wearing shorts or skirts/dresses. It gets really humid here in MN in the summer. My brand of choice is Suave--Fresh scent.

I use Monistat Soothing Relief Powder Gel. It goes on really smooth and is very dry. I have oily skin, so the lotions really get messy. I found this product to be really great at preventing chafing. It also works great when you're wearing a bathing suit, because it dries perfectly clear. It will wash off in water, but it takes a while, and you're good until then!!!

I have to say I'm loving this thread! :thumbsup2 What a great idea to wear bike shorts under a dress and an even better idea to try deodorant! That is definitely a lot cheaper than BodyGlide (because I already have deodorant at home and can therefore try it for free!).
I'm going in a few days and always have trouble with shorts riding up in the middle and having to pull them down. Yeay!! I love the DIS boards!!! :grouphug: :grouphug:

I use talcum powder - hope its not just a British thing! I get a travel version of the 'Johnsons Baby Powder' and that stops the oh-so annoying-thigh-rub-together!
July traveler- with chub rub  and I have to say the Body Glide is a GREAT!! product. Worked like a charm for me. It was the first trip in a looooong time that I was red thigh free!!! Love it got it at an EMS :cheer2:

I thought i was the only one who used a solid deodorant on the insise of my legs. i use this when i work on the weekends cause it gets so hot at work that i sweat and feel it later at home. Before I would just use baby powder then go. Now i rub on the deodorant on then some powder and go and have no problem later.. Even my husband uses the powder trick and never complains. We did this on our last trip down.

I do the same thing! But them sometimes its just too hot with a skirt AND shorts under the skirt. Layne Bryant makes skirts with little shorts inside them. They accually look like a skirt and NOT like a skort. I HATE SKORTS (shorts with a little flap in front to look like a half skirt).
I never knew about body glide or using deoderant ! I'll have to try them!

Speaking of those shorts/skirts from Lane Bryant, I saw the same exact thing at Walmart for $9.84! Now that's a bargain! (They were about $30-40 at LB.) And IMHO they are cuter than Lane Bryant's because when I went to LB they only had them in denim and at Wally World, they had them in black, white, coral, denim, plaid, etc.
The only thing is, at WM, they only went up to size 18, which I think is like a LB size 16. So they were not in the plus size section of WM, but in the the regular size section.

How comforting to know that I haven't been the only one out there with shorts under my dress ;) I have one of the short/skirt things I think they are actually called skooters :confused3 If I do a lot of walking the shorts still ride up underneath, but now with the deodorant and bodyglide tips I think I'm going to take my skooter to WDW :woohoo:
