May 6 Character Swap Progress Thread

Due date is May 6th.

1. Choose a character.
2. Choose 3 different items from the list below - I will list your character but will not list the items you are making - Everyone will be surprised with what they get.
3. PM me with your dis name, name and address - so I can pre-address the return envelopes.
4. Post your weekly status on the Progress thread - which will be posted after the slots are filled - like every friday (or which ever day of the week works best for you).
5. Check the progress thread for your status - it will be updated with ship info and received info.
6. Packing Instructions - use a ziploc for each person and put everything for that person into their bag; put all of your ziploc bags into a large ziploc bag - bre sure to include your name, your dis name and your address on your big bag; include $4.05 for postage (or stamps if you don't want to send cash) to return your items.
7. PM me if you have problems and need to drop out or if an emergency happens (we all know things happen beyond our control sometimes), let me know so we can make arrangements for an angel or other help if needed.
8. There will be 12 people per group - once a group fills up I will add another group - but there will not be more than 3 groups (I just don't think I can handle more than 36 package my first try at hosting).
9. HAVE FUN!! It isn't worth doing if you don't have fun.

1 Topper - 8 inches wide
2 Borders - 2 vertical, 11 inches in length/width
2 journaling boxes - (double matted and embellished) 2 per person; At least a 2x2 writing area
4 Embellished squares - (double matted) 4 per person
2 Frames - (embellished)
2 Photo Mats - (double matted and embellished) 2 per person
2 Tags - (double matted) 2 per person; Must include either fibers or eyelets in the holes
2 Slide Mounts
1 Box n Tag - (1 of each- Above rules apply)
1 mini file folder
1 library pocket and tag
1 Shaker Box - (1 per person)
1 Paper Piecing - (1 per person)
1 Matted Poem or song Lyric - (double matted and embellished); At least 4x4 space (no handwriting please)
Eyelets/brads/buttons/charms AND fiber/ribbon - (6 per person AND 1 yard)

Oh boy, you is in trouble now...See, once you get the sizzix, you start looking for reasons to use it...and that causes the need more dies for the sizzix, and well...you get the idea. I love mine :thumbsup2 , and it gives my xyron a work out too...

I did the same thing! I bought my Sizzix (which I previously thought I'd never need) for my first swap a few months ago. Now with each swap I do I seem to buy a die or two or three to use. Talk about addicting.

Ok - I posted this in the general scrapbooking board but decided I should ask you ladies directly. I have found some surf board shaped playing cards at dollartree. They would work really well with what i am planning for my Lilo items and my stitch items.

Would you all be comfortable using playing cards in your albums? If any of you don't want to take the chance on them being bad for your albums, I will scan the cards and print them on photo paper and cut them out so the design will be the same. It would just be easier to use the cards as they are instead of having to cut them out of photo paper but either way is fine with me - just trying to save time.

Doing great here, didn't get them all completed yet but getting closer. Working on everything between packing boxes, phone calls, and telling friends and family we are moving in 3 weeks. BUT I do get to spend a lil time in DL on the way to Arizona so Im happy about that, going to need a break.

Don't think it really was one, as nothing more has been said today.

Of course, after the rain stopped, I just had to go out and get some pictures of those incredible clouds. What was I thinking?? :rolleyes:

I totally understand! I went to my parents down south..and the damage down north of Shelbyville was visible from the road.. those poor families.. They said it was an F2 that went through.. They have actually closed off the exit/entrance ramps to one of the roads.. and the house that were destroyed.. I just felt for all of them!

My dh is understanding too and is trying to finish the living room and than will go done and re model the laundry room into a combo scrapbook/laundry room... it'll make life easier since I tend to be in the laundry room all the time anyway! LOL He said that scrapbooking for his is a blessing because I don't panic about his remodeling..

Isn't the sizzix great! I love mine! I have the little sidekick too!

Progress: Will be out of town this weekend at a music competition, but I still plan to work on this swap next weekend or the week of April 17 after the AK Swap elements are done and mailed. These swap elements will be mailed in plenty of time to arrive before May 6.

I am done and as soon as I can get somewhere to get more bubble envelopes (I keep waiting for Walgreens to have their normal 3/$1.00 sale), it will be off in the mail to you. This was my first "major" swap (only done the easy swaps - 39 cent, Prima flowers, brads/eyelets) and I'm happy with the results. Hope others are, too.

ugh I am almost done just have to finish a couple things on chip and dale and I will be all set. the movers arrive in the morning so im hoping to finish them tomorrow night at my mother in laws house or on the way down. I had to pack an overnight bag just for my swaps..lol.. but have no fear I will get it all mailed on time I am just a lil behind at the moment.

on the upside we do have a house now. although we haven't seen it other than online pictures..we at least have a place to live an an actual address, although I want to *make sure* that its all set in stone before I actually commit to the address..lol...

I understand about the extra bag for swap stuff - I would probably have to pack 3 - I take at least 5 cases with me when I just go to a crop - but then I way overpack for crops.
Post some photos of the new house when you get the chance.
We won't panic if you are offline for a few days - we know you will have to get your service connected and your computer set up.
Have a glass of wine and a bubblebath in the new house - RELAX for a little while.

My DH kidnapped me on monday for the morning and I had to work in the afternoon and all night. Tuesday, I was stuck in the house waiting for the pest control man and the washer/dryer man. I am mailing tomorrow I am so sorry to be this late but this has been a hectic week, month, year..lol.. the movers showed up on Tuesday and half way through unpacking the truck the 2 *helpers* decided to go get a soda at the local mini mart, they came back, smelling of a foul substance and said they couldn't help anymore because they had to go see thier Probation offers. *cry* so my daughter, I and the driver had to finishe unloading the semi. By the end of the day we were both so exhausted I didn't get finished up, then I needed to find my stapler ( would have been easier to go buy a new one) several boxes later I find it and have completed Chip and dale so everything is set to mail I just need to find the post office and get it mailed off.

*Here is hoping Arizona gets better because so far this has been a bad move for us, scrapping has really helped me keep my mind of the reality of the moment*

Relax - take a deep breath - mail when the glue dries. I am still sorting the groups and package items - I doubt you will even hold up the process.

Well we ended up canceling the visit. My ds was better but it has rained her for days. We didn't want to be trapped in the house 6 adults and 4 kids all weekend. My ds couldn't really go to the hotel and swim or anything. So we have had a nice family weekend. We are going to see my family in two weeks, for like three weekends in a row. So this probably was not the best plan anyway with the price of gas and all. Hope everyone had a great mothers day.

I am putting the packages together tonight - I finally got everything unpacked and sorted all over my living room :hourglass. I had pre-addressed all the envelopes that I had addresses for so I am one step ahead of the game in that area.

I am also taking photos of everyones elements - and wondering if I could scan them easier than doing photos - who knows, I may do both. Either way, I am going to put each group on two peas and post the link on the swap board.

I tried to post the photos on twopeas but obviously I don't know how to work it. It wasn't actually photos, that may be the problem. I scanned the items into jpg form using photo shop.

A friend needed me to keep her little girl over the weekend so I didn't get to mail Saturday like I planned - and I forgot that the post office would be closed today.

I have about 16 packages ready to go - stamped and everything - I will go by the post office on my way to work tomorrow and drop them off. I also need to pick up some bigger envelopes for the people who are in all 3 swaps. I have tried and tried but I can't make all three swaps fit in those flat rate priority mail envelopes.

I will make a list of the ones I put in the mail tomorrow and update the first post in this thread with a new icon for "mailed" - how about this one :tink:

Sorry for the delay - My friend (actually one of my sorority sisters) was going to be out of town until Monday but came back on Friday instead and needed me to keep her little girl for a couple of days. She picked her up last night about 11 p.m. - I don't know how parents handle having a kid 24 hours a day. Just having one for a few days wipes me out. Of course, I doubt that her mom tries to keep her enteratined every waking hour.

This child is like my adopted daughter and they will be moving about 3 hours away in July so I want to spend as much time with her as I can before they move. We made shaker boxes for scrapbooks, we watched Harry Potter, we watched "Mickey Donald Goofy - the Three Musketeers", we made Mickey waffles, we watched Disney channel for quite a while, we went out to lunch a couple of times, and went out to dinner - she loves some of the local restaurants and I rarely cook so she gets to pick a restaurant for some of the meals when she visits me. We did a lot of other stuff and I was so tired when I went to bed last night that I didn't even want to read - and I read everynight when I get into bed.
