I should mention that we plan to stop as few times as possible with a 6 year old.

Hi Arghaven,

I started a thread about a week ago asking for the very same advice. The thread is titled EXPERIENCED DRIVERS WANTED (sorry that I'm not computer literate enough to do links and all that stuff), and people have been wonderful with their suggestions. I'll bump it up in a few minutes so it gets close to the first page. We live in Framingham and are leaning heavily towards driving to WDW in April 2002. When do you plan on driving down?? Would love to get your feedback when you return. I already have AAA trip pack which is invaluable, plus reviewing motels to stop at on the way. We plan on leaving Wed and arriving at WDW on Friday. Travelling with 2 DD's so we don not want to drive straight thru. Lets keep in touch!!

We leave in the afternoon after the children get out of school. We try to rest during the day, pick them up at school and leave from there. The children tend to sleep through most of the drive and we only have to stop for dinner and breakfast and usually wind up there late afternoon. You also seem to take less bathroom breaks because they are asleep.

I am not sure whether there are still backups at the George Washington Bridge while they enforce that every car carries someone not driving, but returning home you might want to use the Tappan Zee bridge instead which I believe would avoid this problem.

Some folks use the TZ bridge going south also, fearing traffic backups elsewhere.

We will actually be going down in early June. Do you have to be a AAA member to get the trip planner?
