I will be pushing my DGD in a wheelchair down Hotel Plaza Blvd. to Disney Marketplace. Can anyone tell me the condition of the road ... does it have sidewalks and are they graded for a wheelchair.

We will be eating at the Crossroads and then walking to the Disney Marketplace to get the bus back to our Disney Hotel. I realize it is a long walk but we are in no hurry and might explore some of the hotels too.

What do you think?

The road has a sidewalk all the way from Downtown Disney Marketplace to Crossroads. It is shady with lots of trees. It is flat with cut kerb cutouts and crossing lights at all major junctions. Some people have posted that the traffic light on the crossing over the main road just outside Crossroads doesn't hold back traffic for long enough. I have found it OK (in my powered wheelchair) provided I head out across the road the instant I get a green light to do so and never make eye contact with drivers waiting for me to cross.

If you get caught in a rain shower (AKA 'Florida Carwash') be aware that the hotels are set well back from the road and you can get very wet running from the sidewalk to the nearest hotel lobby.

If you change your mind about pushing DGD both ways (Hotel Plaza Blvd must be best part of a mile long) you can always get a taxi back.

Andrew thanks for the information ... have you ever stayed in any of these hotels? I am considering the Royal Plaza if we can get a roll-in shower.

By the way, I was born in Scotland, but have lived in Canada for the past 25 yrs.

Sorry, no. I ride a wheelchair & wheelchair vans are expensive to rent, so I can't easily get off site to shop. I often take the bus to marketplace, then ride down to Goodings at Crossroads to shop for groceries.

By the way, I was born in Scotland, but have lived in Canada for the past 25 yrs.

I was born in the Channel Islands, hence the Guernsey flag. I have lived in the South-East of England for longer than I want to admit!
