RCCLs return 11 night repo has taxes at a bit over 96.00 per person. Really not much! I need to figure out the whole $ needed, I would love to do some days ahead, but it will all depend on my finances.

Melissa, Paris can never be a cruise port, too far inland for the big ships even with a river.
One thing to think about, last time DCL announced Repos, ev eryone and thier TA called DCL right off, so 2 or more cabins were being held for the same party. THis caused the rates to skyrocket on the first day and for both cruises to show sold out with in days, when they really weren't. By the time people made thier choice of cabins and paid their deposit, a lot of hopefulls were shut out because the prices were so high.

Faireygod mother, up until a few months ago, DCL was taking stateroom requests for cruises for 2007 even though nothing had been officially announced. DCL is now in the process of calling everyone who had faxed stateroom requests to see if they are still interested. After they cut the list down to just those who are interested they will call these people back are start booking their rooms, most of these requests will be for suites, but some may be for regular staterooms also. DCL will have this done before booking opens up on 4/4.

Less than 2 weeks to go - to we finally get to book :cool1:
One nice thing, after meeting all the "strangers" you've talked too - is seeing them day after day and always having someone you can talk to on the ship. Its like sailing with an extended family that is somewhat dysfunctional but still gets along with each other :rotfl2:

Yes, this is the nicest group of people I have ever met. WHo knew that in May of 2004 we would begin planning the "Vacation of a Lifetime" only to be repeating it in 2007. Meeting many of the cruisers before we sailed and since we have returned has been so nice. We knew last year that when we spent 2 weeks together that some of us would remain life long friends, some of us would be friendly, and some of us would rather not see others of us again. But the core group has become close. Even at dinner last weekend, it was like we just got off the ship a few days prior and we had known each other forever. No awardness, nothing. Just good friends from several places.

Hello, I'm another hopeful for your list!
I'm a PC vet that didn't get to meet very many people last repo in August(joined in a little late). Here I am, trying to fix that problem!
I got the call this afternoon. Disney said that they are going to try to start booking the waitlisters on Monday! One of my staterooms wasn't on the waitlist, so I'll be booking two different days. When the whole process is done I'll be one happy cruiser! I saved myself a golden chocolate pirate coin from my december cruise as my booking celebration treat! I know, I know, silly! I figure I'll drink a couple of glasses of wine too!
It's safe to say that we'll all be needing a large jar of peanut butter to sustain us while we sit on the phone in the next couple of weeks. Best wishes to everyone in booking your repo cruise! I can't wait to find out who the fools will be!

Count us in the "unofficial" official group, DH, DD(then 8) and me. We are currently booked for easter 2007 and want to switch to the repo.
My crazy DH thinks we can do both. He must have advanced knowledge of the lottery this weekend... :lmao: or we will go with the mac n' cheese for a year and half plan already endorsed on this thread.
I have read of your travels on the last august repo, so hopefully we will make it through the waitlist, since everyone seems like so much fun

Thankfully, I love mac 'n cheese already, so that's ONE way I can save money. I took the liberty of smashing that last little sliver of soap to the new bar of soap this morning.....that should help too....now, I just have to come up with like $7,999 more dollars! It's best to keep a positive attitude in a time like this!
Welcome Haley'smom! You're in for a real treat. The August bunch was lots of fun.
Would anyone like to start a petition with me? We NEED to make sure the Ian (the funniest CM ever) is on our cruise! I should just write Disney and tell them that they must have him on this trip. He was such a great entertainer last August. Anybody else an Ian fan? Our family loved watching him dance ....in fact he almost ran me over at the pirate party he was dancing so wildly. Lots of fun.

He was a chap from England! He was wonderful at keeping us entertained! Unfortunately, his contact came up last September and he has moved on.
He always had us laughing and got the crowds going! His energy level would put a hyper two year old to shame!LOL

Scratch, that was a nice description of Ian. It made me LOL! Ian told our group that he comes around when Disney needs him. Sounds like he does lots of misc. jobs in England and cruises every so often....maybe there's hope we'll sail with him again!
I've just finished reading all of the latest threads on the Med. cruises. Is anyone else almost feeling strange that you're willing to pay for the repo cruise? It's tough to explain. I guess everyone wishes the prices were better, but it's seems like most people are REALLY fed up with DCL. It's sad. There are so many fun people that won't be cruising to Europe because of the money. I wonder if bookings are going to be slow this time around. I swear, I haven't read hardly ANY positive posts about the Med. cruises! You just have to wonder what the next week or so will really be like. I almost feel strange getting excited about going because of all of the angry cruisers out there. It's going to be interesting, that's for certain.
Perhaps when people start booking their rooms, we can start celebrating!
Anyone with me?

From one of those who brought the Magic back home in 2005----I wish I could be with you, but DD's school schedule won't allow it. May you have as Magical a cruise as we did. DCL made it really special. Much pixie dust to all! The sea days are the BEST.

We too are planning to be on the August Repo cruise and are veterans of the PC August Repo. While we were on the Magic on that cruise we booked our upcoming 8/19/06 trip and had decided at that time to cruise each summer at this time -- it's the perfect pre school year start up vacation for us - totally recharged for the new school year. When I heard about the Med Cruise rumors I faxed DCL/IC to request a cat 7 which is our usual accomodation; I however did not receive a post card so I contacted a TA to put in the request.
I'm also disappointed with the level of negativity directed at DCL and the Med cruises. I expected the prices to be quite a bit higher with energy costs skyrocketing everywhere; establishing a new route Disney had to negotiate ports that have standing agreements with other cruiselines and needs to create an entire support structure that meets Disney Standards in economic, political and social markets that are quite different and also not have the luxury of negotiating long term plans as this is a trial into these markets.
I know my family and I are quite fortunate to be able to make this trip -- I'm in process of renting out our DVC points to support us in paying for this trip; Spring Break 2007 will be visit to Grandma's as opposed to a trip to WDW; and Thanksgiving 2007 we'll be celebrating at home. I'm not crying the blues here renting our DVC supported our PC cruise and now will contribute to this trip and has provided us with many great family memories over the years. I have heard alot over the years from folks about Disney being over priced etc. I have never begrudged a penny I've spent with Disney the quality of experiences and calibre of staff and accomodations have always seemed worth it.
I apologize for the digression but wow that needed expression.
We're looking forward to this next trip of a lifetime for our family. And getting to know some of our fellow DISers.

I agree with you. I think a lot of people were hoping for a more affordable vacation and are just expressing it. It is an awful lot of negativity though. I'm sure it'll die down soon.

Bridgemanva (or anyone who knows) -- I've been researching the DVC and am wondering about why some people use their points for cruises directly and others rent the points out. Would it make sense to buy into DVC now to use the points for the Med cruise?
Thanks for any help!
bridgemanva
03-24-2006, 10:06 PM
Each time I've compared the cash cost vs. the point value as rentals it's been more cost effective to rent our points with usually minimum of a 20% cost savings. I've met some great people renting points. and it's been relatively simple process each time.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
I too was a little shell shocked to the pricing but then again, it will have been 2 years since the last Repo and prices are definately going up!
It's a lot further to Europe than to California!
As for buying into DVC just to go cruisin' NO, DVC is only good if you plan to travel every year or every other year on vacation.
I know a lot of people rent out their points, but I also have talked with a lot of people who use their points just for cruisin' and are happy.
I believe it's a personal decision.

The reason that no one got to use the chairs is due to the fact that if someone was on their way, they would usually run into someone, start up a conversation and then notice that they were late for an activity thereby having to forfeit lounging! :lmao: :lmao: We did manage to loung in the Main Lobby area! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I still remember the night we were in Alcapulco -- we got back from the excursion - and was tired - so Benita & I went up to get some Hot Coco at 11 PM to bring back down to the stateroom. Ran into everyone up at the drink station and ended up talked til after 2:30 AM -- got to see the people from the pub crawl come in -- :rotfl2:
Heh - Dan - we still have those pics of the bugee jumping :teeth:
Marsha - maybe Ian will be done with HAL contract and will want to sail with us again :cool1:
In terms of pricing - yeah - its a bit steep - and as Robin said - paying it off monthly is like a car payment :goodvibes BUT - heh - I DON"T have a car payment (bought a used '94 DODGE Shadow - 2 years ago - and have only put 5000 miles on it). It pays to live close to your work.
PLUS -- odds are - we have always talked about going to Europe - esp. since we have passports - but prob. wouldn't have gone for years - now we have an incentive program.

Hi we are hoping to join you, me, DH, DD12 and DS10 . Our TA faxed in our request a few days before DCL closed the waitlist. She heard they were so swamped she is not sure they will be able to get to everyone. I hope that they do get to us. The only problem is that at the time prices weren't out so we requested cat 6 ,but after the prices were posted it became clear that we could only afford cat 9. Our TA is saying that if DCL does call her they won't allow that change and we will have to wait till it is open to the general public, is that really the way it works? If so I will be so scared about the pricing rapidly rising. It was difficult to know what to request not knowing the pricing, we enjoyed our cat 5 on the 3 night but this is of course a whole lot more money. Wish us luck and send pixie dust! :sunny:

I'm glad I finally found this thread. I've been directed around so much to find this thread I was beginning to feel like a member of the Amazing Race. I feel I've finally found the Pit Stop.
We're looking forward to being on the return voyage and we hope to start some new and lasting friendships. We cruised on the Magic when she returned from California last year and met many of the people that have posted here so far.

I got the call this afternoon & am excited to say that I'm bringing the Magic home with 9 other family members & friends on August 18th! We booked category 11 rooms, 7th deck forward. We're typically not in our rooms much, so we thought we'd save all of the verandah rooms for all of you! :)
Anyways, I hope to be celebrating with all of you very soon! I still need to book another cat. 11 room next Tuesday. My one friend didn't show any interest in going to the Med. until the last minute. Not sure if anyone is interested, but we paid $4,510.70 per couple. This includes taxes, port fees and insurance. Transfer prices have not been determined yet, so I'm not sure what those will be.
Let's hurry this week up so everyone else can get their rooms! We all know that Mickey needs good deckhands to help him bring the Magic home from Spain!

Got the call yesterday from my Travel Agent. We are booked for two cat. 9s midship. We are close to the laundry room, which I LOVED last August. Now I KNOW I can make it on a seven day supply of clothing. I wonder how busy the laundry room will be on embarkation day.

This is going to be an awesome experience. I usually travel in the fall so I can not imagine how crowded it will be. The one thing I feel sure of is that DCL will keep us busy (if we want).

I agree, it's never too early to get excited about cruising with DCL!
I've come across too many cruisers, (non-DCL cruisers of course), who don't even know which ship they're sailing on or where they're going two weeks before they leave! WHAT?!!! I say why even go if you can't get excited about it the minute you book! So I send a toast right back at ya faireygod mother! I'm with you. I can't wait to cruise to new places and meet new friends!

Wow! A Pirates III movie is in the works?! Man, am I out of the loop. The 2nd one comes out on my son's birthday this summer, so I've been put on notice he wants to see it THAT day!
O.K. - early confession. I "lurked" on the Panama Canal repo thread, but never joined in. I kicked myself later that I didn't get to know people before we sailed....so, I'm jumping in with both feet (both fingers?!) this time!
faireygod mother -- You won't be bored on THIS repo! Disney packed it in on the PC repos....that's why so many of us never made it to Deck 4!
Trying to decide whether to lug the laptop over to Spain or not. I've never gone through airport security with it.......is it a pain? I know years ago flying out of Germany with a portable dvd player....we had to power it up, they checked the batteries....it took a while. Hopefully, laptops are so common now it won't be too much of a hassle. Anyone use their laptops on board since the wireless has been up and running? Does it work well? Lots of areas to access it? Bring laptop or don't bring laptop?
Another wish for pixie dust for those booking on April 4th! pixiedust:

ds2Mom,
Travelling with the laptop is not such a hassle now . We always take one, just remember to put through the security scanners seperately rather than leaving it in your hand luggage. You may be unlucky and be asked to show it working before you board your plane. DH got pulled out of the line to have his bag checked like this on a trip over to the US once and had to show them the laptop, video camera, still camera, mp3 player, nintendo ds all working before he was allowed to board - DS and I left him to it :-)
When we were on the East bound PC repo last August the wireless service was very good, and certainly many people were using it.

ds2Mom, I can't say that the DH and I have ever traveled overseas, but we've ALWAYS brought our laptop. I take LOTS of pictures & couldn't survive without something to upload them to. I'm guessing you're correct on your statement that laptops are very common these days & it shouldn't be a hassle in the airport.
winnyis, sounds like you had a change of heart on which repo to choose! Congrats on buying yourself 6 extra hours of sleep! Lose the hours on the flight over to Barcelona, gain them back on the sea on the way home! HA! Ok, that's not the ONLY reason to choose the August repo...but it's a good one!
Disney Elf, as far as I'm concerned, I'm in for posting whatever info you suggest to get this Repo thread started. Like ds2Mom, I got involved in the Panama repo trip a little too late. I'm in this time though....for certain!

llachance, we are with you patiently (and not so patiently) waiting for April 4th to book. We will be switching our Easter 2007 over to the repo (but I do not want to anger the cruise gods by switching my ticker until it is official :goodvibes )
So, hopefully we will be cruising with all of you fun people. I am up for planning any fun DIS activities or meets. Unfortunately, our recent (first) DCL on 2/18 we had a very rushed meet and did not make any plans to get together later on the ship, so we really only met a few DISer's (which would explain how DH and I had time to get to the comfy chairs on Deck 4  ) I would gladly give up the deck 4 chairs to meet some fun new people, though... :wizard:

Scratch42, I think you're right on the door signs! We're going to have to go all out for this one. I'd better start buying up magnets from craft stores when they go on sale! I love to use foamies to create my door art, nice and light & very colorful. It's kinda fun, I had the same room host two cruises in-a-row & he remembered me by my door art! Cute.
Haley'smom, thanks for the compliment on my sig...just think, when you get your room/rooms on Tuesday, you can add a Med. sig to YOUR name too! HA!

Heading out to see "Ice Age 2" tonight....it looks good from the trailers.
faireygod mother -- Fish "extenders" were these cool Mickey/Disney hanging thingies that looped around the "fish" memo holder that's outside each stateroom (and used for notes from Guest Services, etc.). They had 3-4 pockets on them....so I think they called them "fish extenders" for that reason. Someone on the May repo found a bunch at a discount/dollar store and snatched them up for the DISers. They were very colorful and you immediately knew who was a DIS member!
O.K. -- off to the movies! Have a great Friday night all! Just think....one day closer to bringing the Magic home again! :boat: :cool1:  :woohoo:
Oh, forgot to say -- LOVE the new signatures! Gotta get me one of those!

How is this possible?
We requested stateroom 6634 (cat 7) last year and I rec'd a call last week with everyone else, however the CM stated that although they rec'd my request, they were only honoring requests for cat 3 and above. She essentially told me that we were outta luck. I told her I had heard differently (love the DIS  ), but okay, whatever. Then, not but 10 minutes later, she called when I was in the shower and left a mssg stating she was wrong and had spoken to her supervisor after talking to me, and they would honor our request, if available. (I did post all of this on another thread, but I think people may have just read the post where I was told the wrong info, not the post after....)
So, I don't think DCL even knew what they were doing......but I do know we got our call on Tues with a ressie ## and a contact to make our deposit by yesterday. I took it and ran....
I hope you get on!

rotary2808 - I was thinking that, too.....do not let DS see the new "Poseiden Adventure". Not even sure I want to see it before we cruise again! :scared:
faireygod mother - I didn't look at your signature before posting that explanation of what the "fish extenders" were on the May PC repo. You've been on DCL, so of course you know what the fish memo holder is outside the stateroom door. Sorry 'bout that....didn't mean to make the answer so basic.
So, who is going on the Magic or Wonder between now and next August?

After being a long time lurker for the Panama Canal Westbound Repo (our first Disney cruise), we finally decided to join the board. We are booked on this cruise and the 10-days Mediterranean prior to that. We had such a great time on the Panama Repo that we decided to do back to back cruises this time. We are also bringing the whole family this time: myself, DH, DD13, DD10, DS8, DS7, and DD5 (at the time of the cuise). My husband was born and raised in Italy, so we will be spending some time before the cruise to visit Italy and relatives.

Sounds like there are lots of August repo repeaters hoping to book on Tuesday. Pixie dust to all of you!
Now I'm wishing I could've met more people on the LAST repo. I was so new to the boards back then! Plus, my cruisemates, "the Assorted Fruits and Nuts" cruising group, kept me busy too. They refer to me as their "cruise director." I'm in charge of all bookings, excursions, you get the drift. I'm sure some of you are in a similar position...doing all of the cruise planning for your families!
I've just spent the weekend doing final staging on my house. It goes up for sale tomorrow! Hopefully, we'll get an offer close to our asking price so we can start a nice fund to pay for this cruise. I wonder what all of those potential buys will think of my Mickey bathroom...and the snowglobes...and all of the cruise photos spread all over the house! I actually sold my last house to a Disney fan! It was really funny, my disney room caught the eye of the buyer. She actually wrote my DH and I a Cinderella check when she promised to buy the house from us. Just goes to show, pixie dust is a powerful thing!
Rain has been POURING here in Minnesota all day. I wish I could be somewhere sunny right now! Back to work tomorrow which means I'll be posting more often! :)
See ya real soon!

Yikes, Monday again?
Oh well, only one more day until we get more confirmations as to which fools we'll be sailing with next August. I'm SO not in the mood for work today!
faireygod mother, sounds like we're both going to be working hard to sell our houses in the near future. Packing up all of those Mickeys takes lots of time and effort. Good luck to you!
I can't stop wondering what types of excursions we'll be offered next August. I'm sure we won't have a clue as to what they'll be until the May repoers set sail. Until then, I'm going to do a lot of lurking on RCCL's website to see what they offer. Two weeks ago, right before we found out what ports the Magic was going to visit, I made the mistake of checking Carnival's website for sample ports. They've sent me a postcard and left a message at my home thanking me for my interest in Carnival cruises! HA! I wish I could make them understand how NOT interested I am! I'm set to sail with Mickey. No need to go elsewhere! Thanks anyways Carnival!

Renee,
That can't be the same little girl we sailed with in August. She is looking so much older and grown up now. Booo hoooo, how time flies. Great picture! :wave2:
Yes, she is one and the same. I know I can't believe how big she has gotten from the August cruise. Kind of makes you wish time would stand still.....

Thanks for posting the link to the stateroom guide gpb_1 & Lorraine. This will be so helpful in the next year or so!
Today just flew by. I wanted to be able to keep up with the latest posts, but work was nuts!
I'm trying to figure out how to make time to book my last room tomorrow morning...Sounds like my 11 & 12th crusiers definately want to hold a room, they just don't know if they'll be sailing with all of us, due to work complications. Let's hope that my group stays at 12 strong!
A good night's sleep to all! We're all going to need to eat our wheaties to be able to endure waiting on hold tomorrow morning!

Well at this point it may be better to use look online to book. My Ta finally got back to me and it was the same price to do it online now.
They are offering a promotion at WDW for free dining in late august and Sept because of hurricane season and attendance. If you book a myw package you get the dining plan for free.
We spent $1,000.00 for 5 people for 5 days icluding, room at Port Orleans, Free dining and 1 day base hopper tickets ( all of us have an ap but one so they will use the one day tickets while we use ap)

So here's my question for the day...
When was your last cruise? & where did you go?
I'll start. My last cruise was after a stay at SSR & a visit to the parks. It sailed December 1st (the Wonder). Talk about your transition! A 14 day Magic cruise in August and then a 3-day cruise! What a difference! My DH, DS and I went to good 'ol Nassau & CC and spent a couple of much-needed days in the sun. It was fun...any time on a Disney ship is great fun.
I'm cruise-starved right now. The 3-dayer just doesn't compare to the 7 or 14 as we all know! So I'm looking forward to the next couple of cruises coming up in 07!
Anybody else? Just curious where everyone has been lately.

Our last cruise was last minute in Feb 2006, on Royal Carribbean's Enchantment of the Seas for five nights, stopping in Jamaica and Grand Cayman. My son and my niece spent the better part of the cruise telling us how much better Disney's Magic is! And frankly, my husband and I agreed at every turn. We're not fans of WDW, but we love The Disney Magic Ship!
Our next cruise is the Halloween Disney Magic, visiting St. Martaan and St. Thomas, and we can't wait. That thread has 100 plus pages so far...and we're still months away from sailing! YIKES! I've got way too much to read.
AND to top it all off, we're moving from CT to NC in June or July. So we've got a busy year ahead of us!

Our first and only cruise so far was the May 2005 Panama Canal Repo. We had an incredible time. Our kids keep asking when we can go on another Disney Cruise. They are going to be so excited when they hear about this one. My DH and I are hoping to do a 7-day Alaskan cruise in Aug/Sept. on Holland America. We'll see how they compare.

If you sail out of Seattle we can have a DIS meet!
My last cruise was with my best friend Kat on the Magic, 2/4-11/2006. Keith and I are scheduled to go on the X-mas 10-night cruise, I can't wait!
Seems like a bunch of us are on deck 2! Yeah! We're in 2056, and so far a lot of the kids seem to be around Keith's age (10 at sailing). He'll be excited to hear that! Maybe we should start a kid thread?

Our only cruise experience is three nights on the Wonder, I can't even begin to imagine how great 14 nights on the Magic will be. A question or two for those who did the Panama Canal Repo:
1. How many Palo reservations could you make?
2. Was there nightly entertainment in the Walt Disney Theater?
3. How did the dining menu change? Was it just like one 7 night cruise then repeat as far as the menu rotation?
4. How many formal or semi formal nights?
I'll stop now, sorry!
I would love to read anyone's trip report from a repo if one is available.
Thank you very much, sooo excited about this cruise!!!l

Glad to be bringing the Magic home once more. Cruising with DM and DD 10 at time of sailing.
Yesterday I got through sucessfully online within 15 minutes. Had a 31 minute hold time at 8.01am on the land phone with the Castaway club number. The cell phone calling the main # did not get through at all. Not until after my confirmation was printed that I noticed the web site had changed my cabin number. In my excitement to have gotten a confirmation I hung up the wrong phone- brain stopped functioning in 3 directions. By 10am when I tried calling it was a 121 minute hold time. Eventually spoke to someone in the afternoon who then applied the 10% discount I had from the booking on last years Repo cruise and $250 on board credit to the new Repo. For some reason the category 5 and 6 priced out at the same rate,( Did I miss something ????) So instead of changing cabins I upgraded to a cat 5 for the same cost. Mum's not too thrilled about a veranda. She's not happy with the idea of going overboard. "The porthole is much safer."
The roundtrip transfers at $50 pp are pretty reasonable compared to their usual.
Is anyone going to book the hotels DCL has on offer for us?

Quite a few of us are planning on hitting DLP first ...
I would recommend stopping over at the DLP boards -- they are great people over there.
I will update the main page tomorrow ... with all the new faces :)

[QUOTE=DisneyDiva4ever]So here's my question for the day...
When was your last cruise? & where did you go?
Our last cruise was this past January on the Magic. DH didn't go (we had just been on the Wonder in Sept), but me and the girls had fun! It was our first 7 day.

We have a lot of planning to do before this cruise! DH doesn't even know I booked it yet!! :lmao:
DH is from Egypt and we have been there numerous times. Thing is, I HATE to fly!! :scared1: so I haven't gone in about 4 years although DH has taken the oldest 2 DDs without me. So I decided to make a deal. I would go next summer if we could come back on the Magic!! I initially wanted to take another boat over with DD3, but I didn't see that working out so good as we would still have to get to Egypt from the boat. Not something I would want to do alone with DD.
So....We will fly to Egypt after school is out, stay for about 6 weeks, around Aug 1 tour through Europe to Spain and come back on the boat!! :woohoo: The only snag I have run into so far is there are no longer any boats going from Egypt to Europe (there used to be one that went to greece) so I will probably have to get on another plane to either Greece or Italy. I have a long time to plan this all out though.....but I am a big procrastinator! :guilty: :rotfl:

I did have a question for everyone. Do you have early or late seating?
I chose late as I think early is too early, but I would also like to throw this out there. Traveling through 5 (or is it 6?) time zones while on the cruise is going to be a bit tricky with eating. By the time we hit CC, it will be like eating dinner at 12:30 in the afternoon with early seating!
