Who cares if it's early, if you've booked it, let's get our thread going!

DH and I will be on this cruise, along with DD (who will be 2 1/2 at that point) and hopefully another little one too. My in-laws are going as well (hey, if it means going on vacation with the grandkid(s) that they never get to see because we're so far away, it wasn't hard to sell 'em on it.) I've got a few friends on this one as well - if they aren't DISers yet, I'm sure they will be as we get closer to sailing time.

We'll be flying in early (LONG flight for us) and spending a few days in the World before we cruise.

Okay, who's next?? :sunny:

No its not to early,on this cruise will be me (Iain) dw (Carol) and dd (Maddie) who will be 4.
Fon Fon that is a long flight !! it must take you longer to get to Florida than us and we live in England.
We don't know when we are flying out yet,but plan to spend 10 days at Vero Beach...this will be our second cruise on the Magic, cruised in 2002 and loved it....
Iain....

I was starting to wonder if I was going this one alone! ;) Nice to "meet" both of you!

Iain, ours is about a 5 hour flight to get to California, and then about another 5 to get to Florida, not counting connections. We will have a 2 year old and (hopefully) a baby by then, so we'll most likely book overnight flights. ;)

DD (now almost 10 months) has already been on a cruise; now we're excited to finally get her on a Disney ship!

Hi,
We're thinking about booking this cruise! May I ask who you used? I just got a quote from DU that was $50 MORE than what's being quoted on the DCL website! DU doesn't seem to have any credits or incentives for this cruise (yet). Should I wait another month or so and check back?

Thanks!

Fon Fon, 2 five hour flights. ouch !! ours is a straight 9 hours dont no who we shall fly with this time,we fly out to the states on 29th july this year for a 6 week vacation (i no its greedy !!) this time we fly virgin atlantic, its expensive but direct to orlando, the only other company who fly direct is british airways, we have flown indirect with all the us carriers delta, united,aa,continental but with a small one its a lot of hassle to collect lugage more than once. we are cruising on the carnival valor this july so our sea legs will be up to scratch and last week i booked the 3 of us on the navigator of the seas med cruise in early may next year, our little one will be a cruise expert by this time !!!

Pengy
05-20-2006, 01:53 PM
Wow 3Cheers, sounds like you will have a few cruise reviews before next year's Mickey cruise! ;)

I don't know if I could do a straight 9 hours on a plane, it's bad enough flying from California to NY!

Pengy, yes its cruise overdrive at the moment, the £ to $ exchange rate at this time is very good,we can get nearly $1.90 for our english pounds so lots of shopping is in order when we arrive in the US this year..Yes its a long long flight but we've done so many trips over the pond i think we are used to it by now,and this year will be our 1st transatlantic flight with our little girl Maddy having her own seat..we flew to Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) in Feb and it was Maddys first flight in her own seat and it made a big difference .. HELLOOOOO Everyone!! I am just about to book this cruise for my mom and I. It is going to be this year's Christmas gift to her. I hope that I can keep it a secret until then. I will have to post on here if I get to where I think I want to spill the beans.

Like I said I have not booked yet looking around to see if it will be better to book directly through Disney or if I can find something cheaper. Anyone have any suggstions let me know. Thanks everyone.

The board will start to pick-up. I am sure we will have plenty of great people going. Has anyone here ever been on the Wetern before.

First mom has no idea about the cruise so she will be SOOOOOO shocked when she finds out and then very happy to find out that we are going on the Western.

DeeCeeSW is right where is everyone? Let's get this thread popping. I am sooooo excited..I keep looking at things to buy for my mom. Things that she will open X-mas morning before the big huge gift of this cruise. Lets just hope that I can keep this a secret for the next 4 1/2 months. Glad I didn't decide to do this any earlier.

So everyone are we gonna have a meet and greet once on the ship? That woud be nice. Maybe a little game to get everyone involved. What does everyone say?

Hope everyone is doing well. Hope we start this thread hopping real soon.

Hi Everyone,

I am still good..I have not spilled to beans (yet) to my mom about our little trip. I wonder if or not I will be able to keep this secret.

I am giving her an allowance of one question a day. I told her I reserve the right to not answer any question that I feel fit. And I will not give her the reason for not answering her. She likes that idea. She has not asked me a question everyday though. I think that once Christmas gets closer she will ask. She just knows that I have a BIG gift for her for this Christmas and that whatever it is will not happen til next year sometime. HE HE

She does not have a passport so I need her to get it in January. It should only take six weeks. We will be fine..I already have mine...good to go.

Talk to everyone soon.

Hi there,

I've got a bunch of people going on this cruise. Nine cabins so far. Myself, my dh, our five kids, ages 12, 10, 7, 6, 4, my dh's brother and sis in law, family of the sis in law, friends of the family of the sis in law, and four cabins of friends of ours. We should be able to help get this party going! :cheer2:

We got a great rate through a company I work for, and we will be meeting the model that posed as Tinkerbell for the animators back when the original film was done. She is doing private events for all the people in the group that books through my company! :Pinkbounc I'm thrilled to say the least!!!!

I am going on the Wonder for a 10 night cruise on Sept 7=17th and then meeting up with dh and kids and another family at WDW for a week there!!! I cannot wait as this will be my first cruise!!!! And it is less than two weeks away!!!!! :hourglass

I'm excited to see that you've got a group going here already! It will definately pick up as time passes! I'm going to send this link out to the family and friends to see if we can get them chatting here as well, and my dh will be thrilled to see that there is a group started here as well. He's out of town tonight, but will get back tomorrow!

Have a great night, all. I look forward to getting to know you all better!!!

Jen and I looked at each other a while ago and realized we were finally under a year away from the cruise! :cool1: We've been looking at excursions but trying not to get our hearts set on anything, about the time we do they'll get changed! On our 4 night a couple of years ago, all of our excursions got cancelled (stingray excursion Nassau due to hurricane damage, and parasailing at CC due to high winds), so hopefully we have that all out of the way!

Besides, those cold wintry days ahead for us in NY are ideal times to research tropical cruise fun!

Deemarch

SNOW! It's a four-letter word!! I just keep on looking at the DCL site and asking for recommendations for excursions and think WARM!!!
Even if we don't do any ship excursions, we need to see the ports a little bit, since it will be our first time in each of them. Except for Castaway Cay! DH wants to go there and dock for the week!!

Yes, we are Disney lovers! My husband's first trip to Disney was on our honeymoon 8 years ago. He was 40 years old at the time and he fell in LOVE with it. I couldn't believe he was the same man I had to drag, kicking and screaming to WDW. We will be taking this, our very first cruise, with a group of friends from another site. We are so excited about it. Even my husband, who with 6 trips to WDW under his belt now, can't wait. (He is most excited about having chocolate chips cookies brought to his cabin by room service. He just wonders what it would cost him to have Pocahontas deliver them!)

I also dragged my DH to WDW 6 months after we were married and he loves it! I was there half a dozen times in my former life & was just hoping that he could share my love of Disney...Well, we now are DVC members & have a room dedicated to Mickey Mouse! I guess he's hooked now, too!

Hello all.
There are 7 of us booked, with possibly 2 more. The definites are my DW, DS's 11 & 8, DD 6, MIL and SIL. This will be our second Jersey week Western and I recognize two names already on this thread that was with us in 2005. Here's hoping the weather will be as good as '05, we had nothing but sun. Also looking forward to Cozumel as we diverted to Costa Maya in '05.
We booked the new Residence Inn for the night before and we'll be spending an extra night after the cruise at WDW BCV.

Our older daughter is not happy upon hearing that Tinkerbelle (the real-life model) will be on the cruise. (the DDs aren't going with us on this cruise, the short version is they didn't care for cruising in 2005 and our schools are in session that week).

We are also part of the NFFC Club that will be meeting with the tinkerbell model. We have sailed with the club twice before and it was a lot of fun.

This is our 4th cruise and we are traveling with another family. It is me, DH, and our 2 dd's who will be 12 and 14 at the time of the cruise.

We are counting down the days as we are freezing here in Jersey!!! :sunny:

Just put down our deposit, for me and 4 DDs (21, 19, 11, & 9 at time of cruise)! :cool1: We are splitting up w/ the older girls in a cat 9 and me and the little ones in an 11 (we need deck 5 for DDs and the clubs). This is all but the 21yo's 2nd cruise; we did a 3 nighter last year to see if we'd survive the motion sickness. The last cruise wasn't so great, so I'm hoping that this one makes up for it. It is going to be everyone's Christmas/birthday for 2007!

After the cruise, we'll go to WDW for 5 nights, then on to Myrtle Beach for me to vendor at a scrapbook weekend. Long busy trip, but at least I'll be rested before the work begins!

Have to get DDs passports next...

Hi All,

I didn't realize that there would be so many other New Jerseyites on the cruise. I guess it makes sense!! My oldest is in 1st great so we were not in tune to this before.

We will be joining all of you. It is me, DH (who is not so into Disney), DS will be 7 and DDs will be 5 and 3. I booked the trip about a month ago and then got the bug last week and booked the Jan 6th Eastern for the girls and I. So I will be a veteran by the time November rolls around. If any of you more senior veterans has some suggestions for my upcoming trip I would love to hear.

I look forward to talking with all of you more.

It stands for National Fantasy Fan Club which is a group of Disney Fanatics Wordwide! We booked through a travel agency in NJ who is also a member of this club. We get a lot of extra pixie dust booking with the club. The rates are very good also so I would assume you can also book thru the group. PM me if you would like and I can give you her phone #. Anyone with a posting on the front page feel like editing their post to include a list of DISers who will be there. I don't mind helping compile the list but I didn't post until the 4th page and that would be hard for people to find. It is nice to see a list of people and the ages of kids who are going.

How has the weather been on your past cruises that time of year?

Yes, we are addicted to DCL, can you tell.:thumbsup2
The weather has been perfect......sunny and mid 80's, really nice.
I wished we had some of that right now :rotfl2:, but I guess it will be November before we know it.

Can you recommend any excursions? What has been your favorite?

Snow, blech. February was nasty in central NY, so we're looking forward to November as well. It's our 3rd Disney cruise, but our first on the Magic/western. We'd appreciate any recommendations for excursions too, our 2 DDs are staying home this time so it's only us "old people". Can't wait to see everyone in November!

PARASAILING ON CASTAWAY CAY, absolutely wonderful!!!!

We have also done the Cozumel Beach Break, that was a fun day.....and we have also done the Island Tour and Snorkeling with the Stingrays in Grand Caymen. The Island Tour was really informative and it also included a stop at Hell and the Turtle Farm. The Turtle Farm was really cool. Snorkeling with the Stingrays, I have to say was a little overwhelming. Don't get me wrong, it was a great experience, the water was an incredible blue color, and I can say I have done it, but it was a little overwhelming especially for (at that time) my 8 DD.

I think this time we might just take it easy and not do too many excursions.
Been there done that!!! It's nice just to enjoy the ship when it's in port since so many people get off for excursions.

We are really looking forward to cruising with Disney.
DH and I have cruised before on other cruise lines but this will be the first for DS who will be 10 and DD 8. The closer the trip gets the more excited they get...

I am waiting for airfare from JetBlue out of Newark, NJ or Southwest out of Philly. Would prefer Newark.

kowalchicky
03-14-2007, 12:34 PM
If you don't mind me asking why didnt you guys include the airfare when you booked your trip? I was told it was best to have them take care of the airfare.....I remember this time last year being on line every day waiting for jet blue to post nov dates for our disney 06 trip..........what a nightmare it was.

Good luck!

03-14-2007, 12:42 PM
That way you get to chose the times of the flights and it's a bit cheaper. I'm speaking only of NJ, now. I'm a TA and your just don't get a break from the airlines anymore.

If I was going on a cruise outside the country, that might be a different story...JMO

kowalchicky

You might already know this but just in case.....
We were told to go online everyday to check jet blue ( I did this several times a day ) when they finally do post the dates for nov...the seats are cheapest at that point...the more seats they sell the higher the price goes.

We have always gone to Orlando or cruised in November and this year the airfares are way high. We always fly Spirit and I always got it around 200-240. This year RT is 498.00 per person. I think they are catching on about "Jersey Week" and the airfares reflect that. Heres hopeing they go down!!

kowalchicky
03-14-2007, 12:59 PM
I think you might be right about them catching on.
Continental wanted over $700 last year for one roundtrip ticket.
We ended up paying $270.00 on jetblue for jersey week.......I had to be one of the first people to buy tickets because the price went up drastically.

Deemarch
03-14-2007, 01:04 PM
You could also try Delta to Melbourne airport. We are going the day before and staying at Country Inn & Suites. You have to do a layover in Atlanta, but the price difference from Continental was significant. We paid $287 each and it was going to cost about $400 each on Cont. We want to go at the time of the day that WE want to go. That could be the reason that we were going to pay that much. And I can't wait around to hope for a better fare, 'cause driving to FL is totally out of the question.

Pengy
03-14-2007, 02:56 PM
We've been checking both Southwest and JetBlue daily as well. We're flying in early (Thursday) and back home the Sunday after the cruise and like to be able to choose our own flight times. We did the "air included" on our first WDW trip and the flights weren't what we had hoped. Hopefully the "Jersey Week" price increases won't affect Albany and Syracuse (NY) airfares! :)

iwannabeminnie
03-14-2007, 05:37 PM
We are going to try Allegiant Air out of Fort Wayne, IN. They have just started flying non-stop from Fort Wayne to Orlando. They only fly on Fridays and Mondays, but the rates range from $69 to $99 each way. And if we can't fly home until Monday I guess that just means we will have to spend Saturday and Sunday at WDW. Oh well.

Hello all! :wave2: We're going on this cruise too! We are myself, DH and DS(6).

Can we do a roll call so I know who's going?

We heard about the trip listening to the WDW Radio podcast w/Lou Mongello (author of the Disney World Trivia books). So we're doing the special trip with Tink, trivia, special events, treasure hunts, etc. :tinker:

We can't wait. It will be our second cruise. We did Magic in 12/06. Key West was rained out so I hope we get nice weather that day. :cool2:

iwannabeminnie reminded me that Food & Wine at Epcot will be happening right before the cruise. I think we will look into arriving a couple days early for that and MNSSHP.

Anyone else feeling a little guilty for taking their DS or DD out of school for this? I guess having Tea w/Tink is educational.

There are various threads discussing what people brought to Guest Services for the characters to sign. Most people also included a variety of colored pens. There are some tips about making the signatures colorfast. I think someone mentioned using vinegar in the wash.

Also, you can see the thread, "Best Size Picture Mat to Purchase for Autographs" in the DCL main forum. It even shows a great picture of a mat w/signatures.

Also door sign threads there. I just visited a website today to get some clipart Disney pictures to make my sign.

We made ours on 8 1/2 by 11 magnetic paper that I bought at Walmart.

I also bought some Disney magnets at the dollar store, they had Mickey, Cinderella, etc.

I also just found some Pirates of the Carib., decorative stickers (they are removable and won't leave any stickyness behind) at Walmart on clearance.

We've done door signs for both of our cruises (a 4 night, and a land and sea with the Polynesian). We purchased the clear 8 1/2 x 11" holders at Michael's so we could slide the pages in for each day and brought along some spares just in case. (Our printer didn't like the magnetic paper for some reason) :confused3 Adding the room # or othewise personalizing (maybe not with the children's names though?) is a good idea, unfortunately we've heard of a few door signs disappearing.

We also dropped off pillowcases for the DDs with fabric markers on each trip. We ironed on pictures of their favorite Disney characters (the iron-on sheets would work in the printer!) as well as the girls' names. The characters did an excellent job!!

This will be DD (14)'s first cruise in the teen program. She's made a lot of friends in the clubs on previous cruises, and they still email occasionally. Our DS (11) is looking forward to some of the new things in the Oceaneer Lab since the last cruise. DH and I are looking forward to a great week to relax with the kids and enjoy all of the special events planned.

Kowalchicky:
We've only been on a 3-nighter so I'm hoping the mileage varies this trip with the kids clubs. I didn't see anyone running wild, but we did have some issues with the clubs. The Lab's biggest problem to me was that certain kids would "hog" certain areas and my shy, selectively mute child (they knew she had issues) could not get to any of the computers/activity centers, so she basically wandered aimlessly whenever there wasn't a planned activity. If you have a friend-maker or assertive child, I'm sure it would be fine. Another problem we had was with the Club either not calling when 6yo DD asked or calling when I'd told them we'd be unavailable (Nassau for 1.5 hours, Castaway Ray's excursion). The latter 2, DD was in a froth, crying hysterically by the time I got there, and once I just randomly showed up to peek in and they hadn't called even though she was crying (she also has issues which they knew about and was actually very frightened about being on the ship the first day) I did address the issues with the cruise line and was told that the 3 nights are the hardest b/c the CMs barely have time to remember who's who before getting a new bunch of kids which is totally understandable. I'm hoping the 7 nighter will give DDs a chance to "settle in" a bit more and for the CMs to get to know some of the quirks a bit better, too.

Hi,

I would love to scrapbook, so if you are planning on doing this count me in.

My daughter loved the kids club. What made it great was knowing some of the Dis kids. We emailed back and forth about a month before hand. Then they met at a Dis meet when we got on board, so we could all meet. After that she had playmates for the cruise, and friends afterwards.

On our last cruise we had the characters sign photo mats. Make sure to know your kids fave's. They ask who you want to have sign it.

Are they organzied or are the kids just running around out of control?

When we went on our ten-day cruise in 12/06, we found the clubs to be very well organized. The clubs had a variety of activities with some blocks of time organized around specific activities, while other blocks were set aside for free play on computers, watching movies, or playing with the slides and toys, etc.

My six-year-old son is very outgoing and loved the time in the club. Most times when we went to pick him up he did not want to leave.

Also they offered some unique activities that only Disney can offer (like pirate training with Captain Hook).

I only wish that they offered as many organized activities for the adults.

Hey Karen,

And, what is a "fish extender exchange"?

Hi Dawn!

I'm in Columbus. :goodvibes It's really bad when you can see the stuff on the ground. :headache:

Fish extenders are these pocket type wall hangings (like an organizer) that people hang outside of their stateroom where there is a metal "fish" hanging on the wall. It is used to attach notes or info by the cruise staff. On the 10 night cruise, the dis group kept a tally of all that were participating, and each family bought something small to deliver to everyone participating at some point during the cruise. Some of the things we got were candy, stickers, pencils, Disney trading pins, jewelry/bubbles/items for pirate night, Disney magnets, etc. It was a lot of fun giving as well as receiving and people were so creative in their "fishy gifts". If you do a search in the DCL forums and look up "fish extender" you can see some examples. Some people go all out and hand make their extenders by sewing them with specific characters for each person in the family. Others simply buy a hanging organizer and perhaps decorate the pockets with everyones name/favorite character, etc. It is lots of fun and really adds to the excitement of the cruise!!

Hope this helps! Keep Warm. :rotfl:

They are the ones that have a deal with Margaret Kerry (The model for: :tink: )

Hey, I DON'T want to live in NJ...This is gonna be a problem!! LOL! I wanna live in Florida!! I hate the weather here in NJ...I happen to LOVE 90 degrees and muggy!!! I've been told that I'm nuts, but I really mean it! When we went to WDW in December a couple of years ago, I almost cried when it was only 65!

Is anyone buying any new clothes for this cruise, yet?

I think that you can wear just about anything, these days, on a cruise. Especially on a Disney cruise! So DH and I push the envelope on Formal Night. I wear a long sundress type thing and he doesn't wear a tie or jacket, but a Hawaiin shirt over a matching tee. Hey, we're on vacation!! I do love to see the others all dressed up, though.:confused3

As long as it's not a teal satin dress with a hoop skirt, parasol or really poofy sleeves we promise we won't laugh.

Gotta be better than the one I bring year after year because it is so easy to pack and never wrinkles. Might as well not get another formal picture taken this year as the only thing that changes is that I have aged and shrunk because my kids have grown so much.

Denise,

:rotfl: Too funny! :rotfl: Jim and I did the checking into moving to Florida several years back (before kids lol) and found out the same thing. We want to go so badly, but now he's got 20 years in with the state, and that really wouldn't make any sense at all! Now we can hope for an early retirement buyout!! :rotfl2: Wishful thinking, I know...

I'm not sure which is sweeter, the "before children" years or the "empty nest" years. We are enjoying the "EN" much more than the "BC"!

I think it is great to be able to wear your bride's maid dress on the cruise. Nothing is more ridiculous than paying good money for a dress you can wear only once! If it IS teal tafetta you can always make sexy pillowcases out of it!

They do if enough people want to see it. You just need to voice your opinion. They did it last year and said only until a movie was set to start. So many people were watching football they didn't bother with the movie. When the ship is full of one state all looking to see a game it makes sense.

This is SweetSpot's better half (the big kid). Last year they had already planned on showing Monday Night Football on the Dumbotron, so I would expect that to continue and seeing the Steelers game shouldn't be a problem. They hadn't planned on showing the Sunday Night game, which happened to be the Colts vs. the Patriots (not a big game or anything).

The only place they were planning on showing the game was in Diversions, which kids aren't allowed in after 8 or 9 at night. So our DS's (who were 16 and 14) were not going to be able to watch the game. The prior year, they put the game on in the Promenade Lounge, but they weren't planning on that again. After having a lengthy discussion with the concierge staff about how it didn't make sense that passengers under 18 were not going to be able to see one of the biggest regular season games of the year, they finally found a way to have it broadcast on the Dumbotron.

Turns out there were more people on deck 9 watching on Sunday night (when they didn't have it in the Navigator) then there were on Monday night (when they did have it on the Navigator).

Hopefully this year it won't take as much effort to convince them of the wisdom of airing the Birds and the Boys!

Here is an excerpt from an article about skybus:

"Operations are scheduled to begin in May of 2007 to destinations in Florida and California, although no specific destinations have been disclosed yet.

Attempting to emulate Ryanair's business model and Southwest's people-friendly attitude, Skybus has committed itself to be the least expensive airline in the industry with a projected CASM 28% lower than Southwest"

Driving 1000 miles with 5 kids vs. flying? Come on Skybus get with it!

First, my sister-in-law lives in Edison, so I hope that is enough of a NJ connection.

It will be me, DW, DD(7), and twin DSs (they turn 3 a few days after the cruise). This will finally put us into double digit DCL cruises.

We have done this itinerary before, so if you have any questions, please ask away.

What shore excursions have you taken in Grand Cayman and Cozumel??

SFed
04-25-2007, 12:35 PM
In general we prefer to do things on our own versus a planned excursion. In Cozumel, pre-hurricane, we took a cab to Chankanaab park, and it had some incredible snorkeling. I understand it was pretty well wiped out from the wind and waves. Last November we took a cab to Paradise Beach. You pay around $10 per person and get chairs, and can use all the water toys. You can also parasail and jetski for a fee. We will do one or the other this time as well. I plan on checking to see how the recovery is going at Chankanaab as we get closer to November. If you like to have a cocktail or two, I also recommend putting the kids in the club after dinner and heading to Carlos and Charlies. It is right at the end of the pier.

We have only been to Grand Cayman once, and we did the DCL Stingray excursion. I would highly reccommend it, although I think we will go through Captain Marvin's this time.

each person in our group is thinking about one special thing they want to do..my parents are going to golf, and my one brother is planning on parasailing. my husband wants to do the dune buggies and i was wondering if anyone has ever done that, and if so, how was it? im not quite sure what i want to do just yet(aside from shop shop shop! lol) . i like the idea of swimming with the sting rays, jetskiing, and a few other things, i just cant decide what exactly lol.

also, does anyone know if they will make exceptions with the club for the kids. most of the kids will be under 7, but my daughter will be 8 and my niece is turning 8 while on the cruise but we want to keep them all together(with the exception of the baby(who will be almost 1). do you think they will let them all stay together in the club for under 8?

oh one more thing, how do they celebrate birthdays on board...my mom and my niece share a birthday on Nov 7 and i was curious what DCL does in these situations. i noticed there are others celebrating bdays as well, so it should be fun.

Hi Veronica,

You will have no problem going down an age unless the ship is really booked with that age group. DCL is more restrictive with going up an age but even then they will do it on occasion. I kept one of my children in the Lab rather than the Stack one year with no problem.

They do celebrate birthdays. Make sure you call and have it added to your reservation. They will ask you what day you will want to celebrate and then the servers will bring a cake after the meal and sing Happy Birthday. My DD recieved a pin one year along with the cake but that is hit or miss. If you wear the pin all CM's will wish you a happy birthday.

You're welcome! I would think probably not until maybe June, but I'm not sure, if I see or hear anything I will definately post.

I will add that I agree there will should be no issue going down an age group in the clubs. The cast member's are pretty accomodating.

iwannabeminnie - yeah, you won't have any trouble picking us out. You should have seen us going through customs in Jamacia before they could walk - now that was fun. I am seriously thinking about booking the flight out now. I tried to find out when the next dates were going to be released, but they would not say.

We thought about booking the flight down now as well. I called Allegiant and wheedled, cajoled, begged, bribed and so on to try to get them to let me book my return flight as well, but no luck. I'm not even sure the employees know when the new flight schedules will come out.

Well, I'm off to the ball game soon. South Adams Starfires will be playing the Leo Lions at Wizard Stadium shortly (if the rain holds off).

I guess if you love Disney you're NEVER an old fogie. Hey, I've been on cruises with real "Old Fogies" and they'd just jump overboard on a Disney cruise. LOL! We've gotten so many complaints from them while we were on other cruiselines, unsolicited, mind you, that DH swore he'd never go on another cruise. But, being the Disney Freaks that we are, I convinced him to try one, just for 4 nights...HAHAHA! Hooked him! Now the only dilemma that we have is choosing between WDW and DCL!!

Oh, and Selket, thanks for the info, but if you look at previous posts you'll see that some of us are here just for Tink!! (Well, not just for Tink...)

Eventhough we took our married kids and grandkids to WDW last October, we didn't babysit! We'd rather be with them to help out and enjoy the kids' reactions!! I wish they were coming with us on this cruise...Maybe next time.

quick question for anyone interested in scrapbooking on the cruise...

would you rather do 2 page layouts or a complete mini album-type thing?

would you rather have a "classic", old world look or a fun Caribbean look?

would you rather just get some pages done or learn some new things?

When I do a travel-scrap-class, I bring all the supplies with me along with flat rate priority mail boxes so you don't have to carry it home, either! I don't believe in making people use their valuable suitcase space for stuff I'll have along anyway... ;)

I'm starting to pull some thoughts together and could use some feedback!

BTW, from what I'm hearing, the scrappenings would be in one of the adult clubs during the daytime hours unless my TA can come up with a different venue.

Thanks!

Get Mr. iwbm's tux out of the upstairs closet and see if it still fits. Buy a gown. Lose about 50 pounds. Get my fanny down to the post office and mail off those passport applications (THIS WEEK). Decide on shore excursions. Book flights. Go to the Vera Bradley outlet sale tomorrow and buy a new back pack. Shop for shorts, capris, shoes, tops, dresses, swimsuits (hey any excuse works for me!) Those kinds of things.

Okay, not trying to start controversy, but since passports are NOT totally required until January 1, 2008, is anyone here thinking of just using the birth certificate? I have my passport forms all filled out, but the $$ I am going to spend on them will buy me a few Bahama Mama's on board...KWIM. I know, after paying for this cruise, passport fees are a small percentage, but every spare dollar is a spare dollar.

Anyway, the best way to drop weight easily is to eat better and exercise more. Really, there's no other "good" way. Lots of bad bad ways, but no other good ways. And you want to be healthy in November too! Cheap Disney clothes, the Disney outlet stores usually have cute little t-shirts that you can pick up pretty cheaply. It'll be a matter of shopping the store a few times before you go to pick and choose what you like.

You are right, you don't NEED to have a passport to cruise, this year. But let's just imagine that someone gets sick and needs to fly home from Grand Cayman, you could have a huge issue re-entering the US without it. And if its really serious you don't want to be wasting time convincing someone to change the rules for you.

Bite the bullet and get your passport...Consider it insurance. You are going to need it after in Jan. 2008 anyway.

I didn't even get my DH into a tux for our wedding, I think trying it for vacation would be out of the question. Hey, I don't care, as long as he lets me plan Disney vacations, and maybe even buy more points, he's in good standing with me!!!

Only 6 more months to go? Where has the time gone.........

We got our passports a couple of years ago for our first cruise, just in case there was an emergency at home and we had to return suddenly. I also like to take it along when I fly for work, just in case I lose my driver's license or something. At least I'll have a backup ID to get on the plane to get home!

My husband has a tux that he has worn for business functions, but it seems even business has gotten so casual in recent years that he seldom even wears a tie any more. Khakis and polo shirts seem to be the norm.

For those of you that watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition, tonights show took place in Levittown, Pennsylvania. Myself, DD and DH went over and watched while they were building and filming it.
