Woo-hooo!!!

I'm ready for a DIS meet with my favorite Texas buds. And we have a new Texas bud- Disney Dee should be almost unpacked in her new Texas house.

I'm really hoping she can make this meet so we can give her a big old Texas-style welcome!!!!

I can't attend that day. We have an ice skating event with our visually impaired students that day. Have fun! If your waitress is Jennifer, tell her hi and be nice to her. She is one of our young cousins.

Kathy - Was this past week your Spring Break trip?

Yep- just got back from an awesome Mexican Riviera cruise late last night. The floor's still swaying under my feet! :teeth:

slimplaw - We will miss you at the meet :(.

Kathy - Can't wait to hear about your cruise at the meet :). And I now know what that post-cruise swaying feels like! We felt it for a couple of days after our October cruise - especially as we walked down the hallways of the Dolphin :tilt:.

Oh darn, we can't make it that day. :( We have a Bat Mitzvah to attend on the 29th. Plus my sister's going to be in town and staying with us that weekend. I was so hoping to see everyone again. It seems like it's been forever even though it's only been a couple of months.

Hey, we're having a Boston DIS meet on the same date at the same time. We should hook up the meets via cell phone and have a meet connection! It could be the first official two state DIS meet!

Aw, can't you tell the hosts of the Bat Mitzvah that you have a Dis Meet to attend and maybe they will change the date? :rotfl2: Hey, just trying to think out of the box so we can all see you! :goodvibes

You will be missed. If that Bat Mitzvah date changes (yeah, sure), well, you just pack everyone, including your sis, in the car and boogie on over! We will save you all a seat! :cheer2:

On a side note: We have front row @ the ice for Opening night of Disney On Ice. Can't wait. See ya'll at the meet.:woohoo:

I noticed that last night :). I didn't even do it on purpose. We were originally talking about doing ours at around 2 or 3 o'clock, but for some reason it popped into my head one day that we should do an early lunch instead. Maybe Karen's subconscious mind was sending signals to my subconscious mind  :teeth:.

So where is everyone else? Can anyone besides me, disneyaggie, Kathy, and Tekmickey come??

It seems like a bunch of our regulars can't come :(. m&m's mom mentioned to me that they might be coming, and I think you heard from mommystieg, right, disneyaggie??

I posted threads on the Community Board (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1077982) and on the Theme Parks Board (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=12186375#post12186375) to remind everyone and to see if we can catch the attention of some new people :).

Looks like it will be me, Kathy, Debbie, probably the M's, and maybe a few others :). But I'm really sorry so many of our friends can't make it :(. We'll miss you. We are going to have to have another one in later this spring or early summer I think. It's been a long time since I've seen some of you.

I'm really wishing we'd all gone together to the Disney on Ice show where the Incredibles go to the Magic Kingdom. I've never been to a Disney on Ice show, but I really regret missing that one. Would a future Disney on Ice show be a fun DIS meet for everyone? I know they come through both Fort Worth and Dallas periodically. Maybe we could go to the one in Fort Worth :scratchin.

All you new people just look for the group of us with Disney shirts, lime green stuff, etc. Actually, I'll give you links to a few threads from previous meets if you want to see some examples and pictures. On some of the pics I'm labeled with my name. I have really short blonde hair, glasses, and I'm kinda tall (depending on who I'm standing next to - I look pretty short when I stand next to Kathy :p).

Well I am going to miss everyone who isn't coming!! I'm glad the whole mommystieg crew and dallastxcpa are coming, or else it might just be me and Todd :teeth:. I think everyone else that is not a "no" is a "maybe", but I hope several of you can show up. I also hope some of you people who have never been, and who can't come this time, can eventually make it. We do have a lot of fun together ::yes::.

Okay, people. It looks like I'm the only usual meet planner going to be at this meet. So. . .why don't we use this thread to sort of plan a meet on so I don't have to plan the next one by myself.

I know it's almost impossible to find a date good for everyone, but we have done it before. Today's is kind of a fluke, but with the way this meet has turned out, I want to know what dates in the next couple of months are totally out for those of you who always come to come to the meets (e.g. Kathy, Debbie, Coral, David/Robin, mommystieg, slimplaw, Janette, susie(hello?), nebskys (where are y'all??), )? I'm sorry if I forgot anyone. Anyone else chime in, too, if you are really interested in coming.

Once we see if any dates are out for a whole bunch of us, we'll know not to plan it for those days.

I'll start. I am going back to Disneyland for the first time since the '70s from May 20-27th :cool1:. So since those days are out for me, the meet will NOT be either of those 2 weekends :smooth:.

So, dates we (Ohanafamily/RRBB/Ian) can't make a meet in the near future include:

May 13/14 (But that's only 2 weeks away and Mother's Day weekend so I highly doubt we'd plan one then anyway.)

June 11 (It's the last day of the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington)

July 29 (We have a family commitment)

Now, if it's decided to have a meet on June 24th, that's our 5th anniversary. David said he wouldn't mind going to the Murder Mystery Theater with everyone that evening. ;)

I am going back to Disneyland for the first time since the '70s from May 20-27th :cool1:. So since those days are out for me, the meet will NOT be either of those 2 weekends :smooth:.

No way! I am going to Disneyland for the first time, since I would say the late 60's/early 70's, from May 10-13! Too cool! I am actually in LA on business (kinda, I am on vacation, but will have some fun meetings to attend), so I will only be at Disneyland on May 12th. I am a little nervous . . . I hear there is some cheerleading competition going on that week and I have heard horror stories on their behavior at the parks. Oh well. I guess that's what I get for making fun of them in high school. I am being punished by going to pom pom hell. :rotfl2:

Rumor has it, Krista, that they have added a few new rides and attractions. :scratchin Hmmmm, we will see. ;)

My next weekend out is when I go to WDW, September 10-16. :cheer2:

Looks like you had a good time. I really missed you guys.

Oh, here is just a meeting suggestion: I had someone ask me when we were going to have a meet closer to Dallas. :confused3 Just a thought.

:woohoo: Yay for Debbie! But , too. I'll be alone 3 of those days in the parks since Todd will be at a conference, and that would have been perfect if you and I had been there at the same time ::yes::.

Oh, here is just a meeting suggestion: I had someone ask me when we were going to have a meet closer to Dallas. :confused3 Just a thought.
I drive to these meets from south Fort Worth, and it's not that far to drive - maybe 20-30 miles. However, it would be a different story if I did not have a car.

As an explanation as to why our meets are usually where they are. . . .We usually meet in the northern central part of the metroplex because for some reason a good percentage of the DISers who regularly attend and who respond to these threads live and/or work in the northeast Tarrant/northwest Dallas county area. So we know where the good places to meet are in that area. Also, meeting in the middle of DFW east/west-wise is an attempt to allow people from both halves of the metroplex to make it without having to drive all the way across town.

If DISers from other parts of the metroplex want to start replying and suggest a good meeting place in their area, and maybe even plan a meet (it's really not hard to do), then I'm sure we could try meeting in another part of the DFW area. Maybe South Arlington around the Parks mall?? It's pretty central. Or Irving along 183?? If there's someplace for a fun DIS meet that is actually in Dallas or another part of the metroplex, that would be great, too. I've been known to drive across town to go to a Target or Eddie Bauer, so I'd do it to make it to a meet, too :teeth:. The three of us who have been the ones to initiate these meets (i.e. Debbie, Kathy, and me) tend to plan them for where the regularly participating DISers are, and in areas where we know the restaurants, etc. It doesn't mean we won't meet in another part of town if people from that part of town were committed to attending.

We have not met there, but it is a terrific place. And isn't there a brand new Cheesecake Factory there?? We could meet there for lunch when it first opens and avoid the crowd. Yummy ::yes::. Anyone else up for that??

And I have not done the boats, Kathy. In fact I haven't been to the Gaylord since the last time we had a meet there. We have had some really nice meets at the Gaylord. How does June 17th at 11 a.m. at the Cheesecake Factory sound? If it's good with everyone, then it might become the official date/time/place, depending on what y'all post.

I want most of us to be able to attend, so does that NOT work for anyone?

:confused3Are you really sure about meeting at Cheesecake Factory? I've never known it to be anything but crazy busy, especially on weekends. Well I have been to one a time or two in the middle of the week around 2:30/3:00 where it wasn't packed to the gills, but never on a weekend.

Nope, not sure at all. I've only ever been to a Cheesecake Factory once, so I don't know much about them. But I was shooting for 11 a.m. since it will first be opening. Maybe it's not a great idea for a meet. Any other ideas? This is why I really need y'all's input. I don't have my heart set on anything in particular.

But also why it's a bad choice is because I would like for David to be able to come since he hasn't been able to lately, so maybe a 2 or 3 or 4 o'clock meet on Saturday at a less busy place, or a Sunday 11 a.m. lunch (unless people have church) would be good. I figure there might be some Sunday morning church goers among us, but maybe not. DH and I only have church Sunday evenings and are free on Sundays until around 3.

RRBB

I wish I had ideas for places to meet, especially central to everybody. But David and I are such homebodies. We hardly go out anywhere and when we do it's usually to the same few places near our house.

I know David would apperciate something later on a Saturday or even on a Sunday if it doesn't interfere with people going to church. But if the majority prefer something earlier on a Saturday, I know he will understand. (And we could always call and bug him at work. http://www.smeechy.com/MySmilies/hehe.gif)

Ian and I are free that day, but Saturdays - ALL Saturdays - before 2 p.m. are bad for David. He works until 1:00 or so when his office closes on Saturdays.

:confused3Are you really sure about meeting at Cheesecake Factory? I've never known it to be anything but crazy busy, especially on weekends. Well I have been to one a time or two in the middle of the week around 2:30/3:00 where it wasn't packed to the gills, but never on a weekend.

Most all places are finished with the lunch crowd by 2PM. Between 2 and 4ish resturants are pretty slow, Even in Southlake :thumbsup2
Mike and I had a early dinner (3:30) this weekend in southlake and we were almost all alone execpt for 1 lone man at a table across from us.
We left around 5PM and 3 more groups had just arrived.
This was a very popular spot too...
The point? 2 PM is cool for me :cheer2:

Okay, here's the new plan:

I want to go ahead and get this next meet figured out, so let's get together at our usual meeting place of La Hacienda Ranch on June 17th at 3:00 p.m.

For those of you who have never been there, it's on 121 just south of Grapevine. I'll post another thread in a few minutes specifically about this meet, so y'all start posting on it, okay?

La Hacienda has always been terrific to us, the food is great, it has tons of seating, and most of us know how to get there. But everyone be thinking of other places for future meets, okay? The Texas Roadhouse where we just met was also a good place since they can easily move tables around and seat big groups ::yes::.

Well crud. I was really hoping for something different, like the Cheesecake Factory. I have boycotted La Hacienda Ranch (and a few others) since it was reported they closed to "honor" the May 1st protests. So I guess you can count me out. I will make the next meet if you meet somewhere else. Take pictures for me.
