We have 3 daughters 12, 11 & 8. They would love to spend a day at the beach. Please recommend a few that we can drive to from Orlando.
What about places to eat near or on the beach too??

Last year we went to Daytona Beach and Clearwater Beach. Daytona was ok but not great. We probably wouldn't go back there. We got to Clearwater during red tide so that didn't work too well but there were other things to do near the beach that kept us busy. We will be going back to Clearwater next year.

I second that! Cocoa Beach is close, clean, right next to Cape Canaveral(you may get to see a Disney ship) and a lot of fun. Ron Jon Surf shop is also right there too.

We went to Daytona last year on our way home. It was ok. This year we went to St. Petersburg beach. The water was much clearer and the sand much softer.

in a pinch and if you want the closest, cocoa is alright. the pier's not bad and I like the drive in to the town.

I'd recommend Treasure Island. It is on the gulf side near Tampa. Huge quiet beach that is not crowded. :sunny:

When we went to St. Pete's, we were told that Treasure Island was closed down.

Is Major Nelson's house still in Cocoa Beach?
