What are the benfits of staying in the offsite DD hotels

Me and my family are debating whether or not to do DD offstie hotels or onsite at an allstar, but with the great rates going on and the chance to be down their more, it looks like DD might win. But what benefits do you get with DD and what might make it better to stay onsite, also which of the DD hotels look like the best bets?

We always prefer the DD hotels. The prices are better and the rooms are larger than the moderates with more amenities. On our last trip we divided our trip between the Grosvenor and DL. I really enjoyed both of these properties. But, it sure was nice after a day in the parks to WALK across the street to DD, buy an ice cream cone at Ghiradelli's and stroll back to the hotel. Transportation is never an issue for us because we always rent a car.
