Well, the votes are in, and we have a date for the next Boston DIS meet. Here is the info:

Date: Saturday, April 29th

Please post here to let me know who is going, and how many people are in your party! I will keep a list here in this first post. When it gets closer, I will call and make a reservation at the restaurant.

DH has requested an early soccer game for Colton that day (hes the coach). Hopefully that will come through. Then we just have to hope that baseball and tball havent started up yet, but I'm afraid that will be opening day. I'll let you know. :bitelip:

Well, I will have to miss this one. :sad1: I really enjoyed the one meet I was able to make it to last year - hopefully there will more to come.

I am travelling to the east coast in July but not sure if I'll be up near Boston yet. :moped:

I'm sure it will be a great meet - looking forward to reading all about it. :wave:

Last time I went to a DIS meet I brought my 9-year-old son; this time it'll be just me.

I am a possible!!! DD is going to a cheer competition and if her team wins they may be getting an all expense paid bid to compete in Disney at the
Worlds cheering competition during that timeframe!! We may just turn it into a vacation if her team goes....................I will be in touch!! :cheer2:

Davidude *I think* works at a fire house, so he's older than a "kid". I'm guessing he is in his early 20's? I've seen a picture of him before in a firefighters uniform. He must be in the 18-22 range based on the picture. (of course, I could be WAY off base! LOL!)

We got the early soccer game we needed but now the fields arent ready and they have to redo the schedule and all games are 12:00 or later. Throw baseball and tball in the mix and theres just no way. :(

I was thinking about that.... you go to Fire & Ice for pancakes?? The best part about this place is picking your own food & sauce from the enormous bar and watching the guys grill it for you... Must be REALLY GOOD pancakes! LOL!

Well, see...first we had the choc chip banana pancake (note singular, it was really big!). Then we moved on to the meats, veggies, etc. Oh so yummy!!!

Just wondering ...is there a "kids menu" for the younger crowd ??? Maybe I can check out the menu on line. My DD10 loves pancakes ,so maybe she can order them ,if they are avaliable in the afternoon. Can't wait till the Boston meet! :shamrock: Please make sure you add our names to the list!

There isn't a kids menu (although there is kids pricing).

Basically, it's set up like a salad bar type thing. You pick out the meats, veggies, pasta, and sauce you want for your meal, then you bring it up to the grill and watch them cook it. It's a lot of fun, especially with a group of people. They usually have burgers, and often have steak and pulled pork as well.

It's a good place to go with picky eaters because they can do whatever they want.

Like I said, I don't think they'll have the breakfast offerings on Saturday (I think they only do brunch on Sunday).

It's pretty reasonable--around $10 for adults, around $5-7 for kids. I'll try to remember to call and get the exact pricing.

Ahh, but it is my 'bucket of choice'!!!! It all depends on my locale....NH and I'll be Lady Bucket Carrier (and quite possibly AK and EE in May!!!). Otherwise it is Queen of the GGG buckets..thank-you very much.
Oh and btw...nice tiara my kid has....it must be nice to have such generous friends :thumbsup2

Stephanie's team won an all expense paid trip to compete in the World Cheerleading competition (which is extremely competitive and prestigious!!) at Disney next weekend!!! See you all on the 29th, well, that's providing I can find my own way into the big city and park the car!!!! Such a country mouse!Four of us went into Boston on Marathon Monday and parked our car at the Riverside T Stop. It was so easy and no hassle trying to find parking in downtown Boston.The Riverside T stop is the 1st exit off the Mass Turnpike at Rt. 128. You pay your toll and the man at the toll booth gave us easy directions. Basically, 128 S to the 1st exit,you'll see the signs! Otherwise my favorite parking spot in Boston is...."Under" the Boston Common Parking Garage !!! Good luck...see you there. :sunny:

Yep, the T has always been my transport of choice...such a weenie!!! So, I think this time I'm going to be a big, brave girl and park in the Common Garage. I know I can find that!!! Then, I just have to find my way to Fire and Ice!!!

I saw "Fire & Ice", Monday while in Boston...now at least I know where I'm going! After leaving the Common Parking Garage,go up to The Public Garden and it's 2 blocks up on the Left.(Close to the John Hancock Bldg.,I think)Hope these directions help. :flower:

Diane, can you get yourself on Boylston Street from the Boston Common Garage (I'm not sure where the garage lets you out, so I can't direct you how to get there). Once on Boylston, just walk towards the Back Bay, and take a left onto Berkeley, and it's one block down.

Arlington on the green line, or Back Bay on the Orange Line are the closest.

Aengus, PinkGirlyGirl, her boys, and I are meeting at Wellington Station and taking the T in together. I don't know if that is a doable option for you, but you'd be welcome to join us.

I absolutely loved it! Sets and costuming were amazing!! Fantastic performances by the whole cast!!

Were you at the Opera House too??? We were at the matinee....waaay up in the air!!! Thought I was going to get a nosebleed, but it was marvelous. I simply loved it. DD wants to see it in NYC now...yeah, that's going to happen. We had a terrific time though. I wanted to hang out and try to meet some of the cast, but since we were with another mom and her dd, we didn't. They really wanted to get back to Westborough and meet the dh's for dinner.
But, I could see it again, and again...just incredible. I was sitting there, tears flowing down my face during Defying Gravity!!!! Just sent shivers down my spine.

I was indeed at the Opera House -- Saturday matinee as well. I was down in front, though. (I'm a Broadway In Boston subscriber and I snagged seat A101 for the Spamalot perks. <G>) I left right after the show because I had to head back to RI to run some errands.
I already submitted my Providence Performing Arts Center subscription request to see it again next year! I'd love to catch it in NYC at some point, though.

My dd was begging to do Providence in January last night!!!! I thought I was an early bird when I got our tickets, but alas and alack, I was not!!!

Just got in from building & painting stage props with my DD10...it is a beautiful day outside today :sunny: ,how I would LOVE to be walking thru the Public Gardens now,after meeting up with all the Boston Disers for lunch. I told my DD she owes "me" a day now!!!! Well if there is a summer Disers meet ,maybe I'll make it to that :thumbsup2 (Canopie Lake Park sounds like fun!).Hope you all had fun this afternoon.

Just home from the meet. We had a great time. There were 11 of us total, and we had a nice lunch. Most of us walked over to the Public Garden after, and took a ride on the Swan Boats. Then we cut through the Common to Downtown Crossing to catch the subway home.

I still smell like fire and ice :)

Ahh, excuse us...but we're having our own meet here...not for those that were at that 'other' meet, where they managed to lose Jerry!!! Poor Jerry, alone and scared in Beantown! How very irresponsible of you all. Hmmph...looks like I can't get sick without you losing poor Jerry!!! Hopefully, he will find his way to CLP this summer!!! He could be like Charley and the MTA...riding forever...OMG...what if he gets stuck on a Swan Boat and nobody notices and they put him away for the winter!!! Well, Jerry called me last week and told me that he was "afraid, very, very afraid" to go to another Dis meet....seems the "diving incident" has scared him for life!!!! :rolleyes1 SOOOO, we made an alternate plan....had a few :drinking1 , did a little :banana: :banana: and kept it all hush hush!!! :lmao:

I know that we had the real Jerry with us because Perry would never have jumped up on the grill at Fire & Ice and danced around in his birthday suit. Perry would never have taken off with Coaster Addict--Jerry is the one who gets all the girls (and let me tell you, while he was with Coaster Addict, he found time to call ThreeBoysMom and make plans to follow her home).

So, yes, we had the real Jerry with us, and he was definitely up to his old tricks. At least this time we didn't have to bail him out of jail.

I do believe I have seen a shot of the aforementioned 'diving' incident. It was a bit on the blurry side, but you do get the idea. The diver must have been really moving to be such a blur, but those of us who witnessed it, know what we saw. Diving, lobster Mickey, pirates, marching around following the sign up in the air....yep, that was history in the making!!!! :banana:

Well, like it or not, you may all just have to count me in on a solo trip...or semi solo! LOL I just said to dh tonight that I may have to do a mom and a.j. trip in dec or jan...short weekend. we did this last year and had a ball...although last year was a "work weekend"...i know, someone has to do it! LOL

Anyway...if you are all meeting up one weekend maybe "she who wanders" could join in! I LOVE Jellyrolls! A.J. would be thrilled to go to the kids club for a few hours! Keep me posted!

Just popping in to say I had a blast at the meet!
I'm still amazed that Jerry was able to complete an entire soft shoe routine on the Fire & Ice grill without getting kicked out. Still, if he hadn't collected all of those dollar bills in his waistband for us, we wouldn't have been able to pay the 18% autogratuity.

I'd also like to thank the affirmative action committee for selecting me to fill the non-VMK Dis'er quota. ;)

I do believe I have seen a shot of the aforementioned 'diving' incident. It was a bit on the blurry side, but you do get the idea. The diver must have been really moving to be such a blur, but those of us who witnessed it, know what we saw. Diving, lobster Mickey, pirates, marching around following the sign up in the air....yep, that was history in the making!!!! :banana:

Don't forget the Caper On The Common.....that/ was historical ;) :smooth:
