Not only did we have a great time on the cruise, but we went to WDW for 3 days after and for the first time saw the Osborne lights. The holidays are a great time to be on Magic and in WDW so I will be looking to go back.

I will be traveling with my DH, DD(12) and DS (9)
and my best friend and her DH , DS(10) and DD (6) and her DH's brother. This will be our 5th (or 6th if we keep our ressie for the 9/7/06 cruise) DCL cruise and my best friends 1st.

I booked the first day it opened up and was lucky enough to get an SPR.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay? The current rate for a Cat 6 through DCL is over $7k for a family of 4, which is much more than we have ever paid. I am curious to see if the rates have increased that much in the last week or so since the dates were released.

Nope, our quote was 7000 too. Yikes... We really want to do one more cruise so I guess we'll have to pay the price. I did compare our May 2004 cruise price to May 2007. We paid $2800 for our May cruise in 2004. The same cruise which is the last cruise before the repo cruise is $6000. So, I'm not sure if the repo part drove the price up. But I'd say cruising prices have doubled. I've noticed the increase with other lines as well....

Jeff, Aren't the lights awesome? We have not been at Christmas in a few years, but one of my favorite things is taking a walk and looking at all of the lights. Of course, when we went, the lights were in the back on the fronts of all of the fake house fronts, where they used to shoot TV shows. I think I read where they put them in the New York area of Disney/MGM Studios?

We are not booked yet for Thanksgiving Turkey Cruise 2007. But are looking really hard. If our great Turkey friends of the past sign on, we would be REALLY interested!

I assume that this is still Western? In 2005 we were supposed to be Western, but only had CC X 2, and Costa Maya. Not the best lineup. I would love to return to Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

Greetings all!

As Tonya said, we're looking into this one. We'll give it FAR more consideration if the Turkey Clan is willing to make a "stab" at this cruise.

We had originally planned to go to WDW and use our DVC points (that we've banked from last year, will bank this year, and borrow from '07) on a big "family" get-together. We provide the place to stay, they are responsible for park tickets, transportation & food kinda thing.

Doogie, if things work out and everyone (a "flock" of Turkeys) commit to this trip, we may require your expert advise as to the renting of more DVC points to defray some of the cost for this trip.

I am in agreement w/ Willie, I would really like the opportunity to see Grand Caymen (again - went in '84) and Couzmel. I know there is no guarantee w/ the weather, but I'd prefer not to go to Costa Maya again and depending on whether or not the boat races are happening again in Key West, that would be a nice stop (I was stationed there w/ the Army for a year and a half).

Otherwise, I hope everyone is happy & healthy!!

I got my quote from Mouseear Vacations. (PM me for their number) It was about 200-300 less than what I paid for the last t-day cruise. Even though they are the same price as the web cite, you get a few perks that makes it way worth going through a travel agent.

Our travel agent quoted us the following:

Hey Trey and Tonya!!!

Jackie and I were talking about you guys last night after I'd read one of your posts. Glad to see you're posting!!! Soocer season starts here next week! We've had our daughter getting 3 touches a week since T-day with some other clubs in the area. Hopefully she'll be better prepared than some others when the season starts.

I was surprised at the price. I got my quote right off Disney's site. I saw a post somewhere this morning that Disney is not going to allow the travel agents to offer discounts. Generally the agents reduce price by giving back commission. Send me your email address via a PM, I found a pic of you.

Lincoln and I were just looking through pictures and he swore we had a picture of Hunter. We can't find it. As we were looking he said, "Hey, there's a picture of Lamps without a beer in his hand... that's rare." :rotfl2:

Greetings all!

First, my humblest apologies for posting prices. Tonya informed me that it's a BIG "no-no" on the boards. I'm waiting for the board police to spank me.

Second, yes, soccer season is upon us. Fortunately, Springfield (MO) has an indoor facility w/ two fields. One is walled, in the traditional indoor soccer sense, and the other is a futsal field. No walls, small field, size 3 ball - heavier than normal, played 5v5, and all about speed, touch, and finesse. I suppose I should say that we are lucky to have the facility since it's been paying my bills since outdoor ended in November.

Finally, that is rather disappointing that Disney isn't going to allow travel agents to offer discounts. I can understand Disney's reasoning though.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy!

I dunno if I just got a great deal last year or what. But I quoted a cat 8 and cat 11 like I had before, and it is about $1400 more than I paid. Take off the 10% discount for booking onboard, and it is still about $700 more. We had rebooked while on the 2004 Thanksgiving cruise for 2005. this was at the DCL site. Maybe I did something different.

I did not know it was not polite to post about prices on the DIS? I thought that kind of stuff was what these boards are about. Oh, yeah, and to post pics of sauced up old guys acting like Bon Jovi!

I have never heard that before and I have been lurking/posting for almost 4 years. I was looking at a cat 6 for our family of 4 and the price was in the low $7,000 range which is almost $2,000 more than an end of August cruise when we normally go.

Yes, Willie, that's what's going on. Lincoln hit the high cat. also. raised our price a bit, but not much. I admit; I'm cheap.. cat 10 & 11's. We're never in our room other than to change and sleep.

First cruise in 2004, we had a balcony cat 6 for kelli and I, and an 11 for the girls across the hall. We did not use the balcony much. It let too much warm air and humidity into the stateroom.

For the 10 day Holiday cruise, we are going with the "cheapest" route. Two cat 12 guaranty rooms. Hoping for maybe a slight upgrade. Even going this route, the cruise is costing nearly 10 grand. Nothing "cheap" about the DCL!
But, I sailed once on an old Carnival ship, and never again with kids. OK for a party cruise with the wife, but not much for kids. And really, the cruise was cheap, but the drinks, etc were higher than DCL.

My situation regarding the 2007 Turkeyday Reunion cruise.....

Right now, we are planned to do WDW that week, and stay at the Boardwalk Villas with DVC points. We have 10 family members that say they are joining us, but they are not very reliable when it comes to vacations. They have backed out on us a time or two.
I will have to do some work on Kelli between now and the Christmas cruise we are on, so that we can rebook onboard!

Any help from my Turkey pals is appreciated!

What are your children's ages? Our 11 year-old DD wouldn't really appreciate a Med cruise yet. (Not to mention the airfare is way too high for us.)

Willie, here's to hoping you'll be able to cruise with us. Think you'd be able to convince your 10 family members to go on this cruise instead? That's a tough one, though. WDW is a tempting vacation too. Don't know if we're going to get back there anytime soon.

W, (or do you still go by 'Willie?) I hope you can convince your family for the Magic. But little kiddies wanting to do the parks, that's hard too, 'cause we know how fast they grow up and want to do the thrill rides at Six Flags and Universal instead.

Also, (shh, don't tell anyone..I visit the cruisecritic boards too..) the official announcement came through yesterday that RCCL's Voyager of the Seas will start sailing from GALVESTON in 2007! YIPPEE! :Pinkbounc Not during the summer mos. though. Still, it's only a 5 hour drive from Dallas (much shorter for you!), and if anyone here would ever want to do a 'week after Christmas' or spring break cruise, let me tell you..this would be a blast! It doesn't hold a candle to DCL, but the prices are lower, there are several bars/nightclubs, rock-climbing walls, a huge casino and an even better teen hangout. Grit your teeth too..it's only sailing the Western! :lmao: But still, something to think about for future cruises! :earsgirl:

Oh yes! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Until Freedom of the Seas soon sails, it's still amongst their largest ships. Holds over 3100 passengers, and is almost identical to Mariner of the Seas. (Except Mariner has wine bar/lounge.) So much for a kid to do, too. Ice skating, in-line skating, mini-golf and a humongous basketball court. Rachel likes RCCL now better than DCL. :sad1: But we all agreed that the dining room food is just okay, nothing like DCL. The casinos are a lot of fun, as we all know! I enjoyed watching others. (Just give me the .25 five-card-draw slots.)

I'm serious folks. If we ever all wanted to sail together again sooner, or more often, this would be a less expensive way. But of course, still have our 'Magic reunion cruises.' :rotfl2:

I didn't think I'd see a RCCL Voyager class ship come to Galveston so soon!

We have priced Navigator of the Seas--it is the same as Mariner of the Seas, but sails out of Miami--very close to home. For the same category type and same time period that we like to travel--school vacations, the price wasn't much different than DCL. In a few years--when Mason is older--we may try a RCL ship, but for now we are hooked on the Magic!! :thumbsup2

I agree. For certain time periods the pricing isn't very much lower than DCL, once you figure in the 10% onboard discount. (Which other cruise lines don't do. If you rebook while onboard RCCL, you only get a 100.00 room credit for a 7-day, and must sail 10 days or more for a 200.00 credit. :rolleyes2 )

I was just laughing at the thought of the Turkey Day gang on a RCCL ship. :lmao:

You guys who performed on stage at Pirate night and Rockin' Bar D would have to show everybody what real cruise deck parties are like! Their answer to pirate night was 'Caribbean night' which consisted of a band playing a few songs (can't even remember.) 'WHAT? No Y M C A, no Macarena, no chicken dance?' No funny guys wearing the 80's wigs and the Dolly Parton bras?' Rachel finally looked up at me (she'd been 'waiting' for the party to really begin?) and said, this ISN'T a deck party,' to which I said (sadly) we're not on DCL, let's make the best of it. (yeah, right.)

Wow, here I've been suggesting we sail RCCL and I've probably discouraged everyone. :rotfl: We really did have a great time, though.

Pris, you probably had a great time on RCCL due to the fact that you were with family and great friends. That is why the Turkey Day gang is fun to sail with. Good folks.
I have always believed the destination is not as important as the trip to get there.

Hey all, 80 degrees here today and I got a GREAT one......so, I back the vette out of the garage and put the top down and and get ready to head to the marina and get the oil for the boat......The sun was shining and I had "Willies beach tunes" in the c.d. Yeah Lamps I had a similar experience. I looked under my sink and Lincoln had been stowing away the little packets of DCL shampoo. I picked one up Sunday and took it in the shower and washed my hair... the smell of DCL shampoo; wishing I was showering in a shower smaller than a tin can after spending the day on CC.

I made a reservation at the Paris Las Vegas for Sept 1-4(Labor Day weekend)I am going to take Kelli there for her birthday. It will be a surprise trip, if I can keep the secret! If you can wait that long, why don't you come along and bring Kim?
And this invite goes to all of our DIS buddies!

Can you say Vegas Reunion?

Thanks Willie......Kim and I have only been to Vegas once together once....for a wedding that my girls (all 3) stood up in. Kim goes in May for a "girls weekend" every year. The inlaws are taking the girls to the wisconsin dells area (that side of the family has cottages in briggsville just outside the dells) the first weekend in May. I'm thinking of a vette ride south....tennesse or missouri that weekend.
The inlaws anniversary (40) is next year and they wanted to do a med cruise but Kims sister (her only sibling) is making every excuss in the book and kind of firing Kim up. I told them to make a decision, because I AM doing something for spring break.......St. Thomas sounds GREAT!!! Doogie?!?!?

Willie, that Vegas weekend looks very tempting. I just checked AA's vacation website (expecting the cost to be a small fortune,) and for that holiday weekend, it's HALF of what it's costing us to go to NYC in early August! (We're taking Rachel's friend along, but it's the hotel rate that's killing us.) :scared1:

And Lampy? St Thomas? I think Doogie is leaning towards that one.

Hey guys, not that I'm trying to sway your decision, (yeah right.) I have some younger friends who honeymooned in St. Thomas, and they said as beautiful as it is during the day, the city closes very early and that there's not much to do at night. I guess an all-inclusive package is much better though. (How would honeymooners know very much about there 'outside' surroundings anyway? :rotfl: ) The ideal way to see St. Thomas would be on a cruise, with an overnight dock. Wouldn't that be great?

Ron,

Be sure to stop in Springfield, MO on your way through to East Texas. . . Unlike Willie, I have not only ridden in a vette, I've driven one (at the ripe age of 16). Zero to "OMG that's fast" in 0.4 seconds. :moped:

You know. . . You both (and the rest of ya) could just meet here. . . go to the "real" Pro Bass (bass pro) store. . . . Silver Dollar City, White Water, Celebration City, more live music performances than you can shake a stick at. . . 4-5 different lakes w/i spitting distance. . .plenty of miller lite for all. . .

I can't advise on deals in Vegas. (I haven't been there since 1987! It HAS been too long.) Neither Rob, nor I, have ever been lucky there when it comes to winning. (Except when I played a slot for my parents, and won $20.00.) I DO love the sounds of those slots and bells!

W, it's been a long time. J,s been a few times w/out me!!!

All, here's a link I found to an all inclusive in St. Thomas... it's about the same price as a cruise. http://www.wyndham.com/hotels/STTSB/main.wnt

Also looking at rentals on: http://www.vrbo.com/

VRBO is one of the reasons I decided to sell (not all) most of my DVC. If I want to exchange, it's more affordable to rent.

Kris,
The Paris buffet is pretty good, but the line to get in can be long. Also try the Bellagio breakfast buffet.

For a fancy dinner out, try the Eiffel Tower restaurant at Paris. I have not dined there, but a good friend has been several times and he says it is the best dining experience in Vegas. The views are supposed to be fantastic.

Kris-If you like seafood, there is a wonderful seafood buffet at the Rio Hotel. It is Chuck's favorite restaurant anywhere. They have crab legs, shrimp, oysters, lobster and much much more. It is a very interesting hotel w/ a Mardi Gras theme. We also like to visit the shops at the forum (Ceasars Palace) and the shops at the Aladdan. I miss Vegas!! We used to go there all the time because my parents had a home there. Unfortunately, after my mom passed away it became too difficult for my dad to maintain. My dad sold the home. 4th of JULY?? Well, that is our subdivisions holiday.....I starts out with a venician sp? boat parade around the lake on the 3rd then a parade down Lakeshore Drive (my street) on the 4th which usually ends up in a water fight with some of the "boys" on floats. Yes, we usually have about 60 people over for the parade with a few drinks and water fight.....then a cruise to the club house on the golf carts and coolers. There are bands and beer gardens down there......somewhere between then and the fireworks at sundown some bean bags will be tossed, some water skiing and of course a few things on the grill.....RED, WHITE and BLUE jellow shots!!!!

You folks are talking 4th of July plans? I just finalized our New Year's plans - LOL! Actually just after New Years....I booked a Western Caribbean on Carnival. I'm so excited because we're getting balcony cabins, something we could not afford on Disney. the balcony cabins have a removeable divider between them, so we'll have one very large balcony.

And we're doing the western because as you all may or may not remember, our Turkey Day Cruise 05 ended up being so modified that none of the western ports were included! So, we'll give it another shot.

As of 4th of July....we'll be in Michigan celebrating at the lake with a weeklong family reunion.

hope all is well with all --

Shoot... the 08/19/2006 cruise I booked on 09/28/04 (23 months in advance). Since the Magic will be away over the summer of 2007 we are doing a 4 day Wonder on 08/19/2007 which I just booked a couple of days ago (kind of last minute for me). :rotfl2:

Well... everytime i look at RCI for times when the kiddos are off (and a port w/o airfare) all the suites are booked and if i'm going to go RCI, I'm going with a nice big room and balcony!!! We had a balcony Turkey Cruise but when the four of us got on it it wasn't that cool :sad2:

So... we booked! and yes we are still booked for 4/21 Magic if anyone wants to join in on the fun... :goodvibes

Buddy... are you anywhere near that terminal? If so, how congested an area is it ... (i'm trying to convince my sis to go but she said "I ain't driving up to NYC and all that stress of a ride-- she read it is about 4 miles from NYC)... one of the reasons I selected was because she refuses to fly and I had hoped her and my mom would join us...

so yes I have my next 3 vacations planned... that is kinda boring tho in a way but i drilled the rci folks about transferring, cancelling, etc.. and i can cancel up to 2/08 w/o penalty so.... with only $400 down it aint' no big deal! and if the price goes down (as it does for rci) I can get the savings!

Wishin' i'd be an 07 turkey!

P.S. So Doogie you are 100% correcto!! :)

Hi All
it has been a long time
So ya think you all ARE doin the 07 Turkey cruise?

Been a busy year so far
Personally, i have lost weight, inches, and added muscle
i have about a month left of a "plan" i purchased
A personal trainer is the only way to go!

On a MICKEY Note
DD's and i are going to the Disney World June 4th - 9th
Ya know, Been there, done that....about 21 times, I just can't get enough!
Staying at SSR(short notice, could not get my home, BC)

Then the family will be at HH for July 4th week
So these two trips and i still have some points left
Anyone want to do a couples weekend?
Hope all of your families are doing well

Miss you all :grouphug:

Hey John!

Great to hear from y'all!

You know I am always up for a couples weekend. Just pick A time and place. I don't know how our DVC points are this year, though. I think we are banked. I will be taking Kelli to Vegas Labor Day weekend. (This is your invite to join us.)

Tell your girls that Erin still talks about Jessica and Jenna often. She has been bugging the heck out of me to see if you guys are still sailing at Christmas. We are "halfway" paid up. (one stateroom) And working on the second cabin. Erin says that she won't go without either the 5J's or Bailey. (The hard headed little toot. )

Glad to hear you are dropping some lb's. I am back on my low carb. It seems to be all that I can discipline myself to. Congrats on your success.

Stay in touch, buddy.

We're going to be @ WDW the same time as you!! We're coming in LATE on the 8th... and planning on hitting AK early on the 9th to ride Everest ALL DAY :cool1: . What time are you heading out on the 9th? We're staying at Saratoga then moving to BWV... then 10 days later off to Atlantis for the week. Wish w'all could go together!

Bailey is also hard headed, she won't cruise on anything but Disney and only if the rest of the gang goes . I'd like to try RCL just once.

Anyway i thought we were all going to try to co-ordinate a summer(MIDNIGHT) rendezvous? Willie, we did Gulf Shores- had a great time and great golf, Could of done that. Doogie, you may know, that week WDW is Slow, by summer standards. I would change our plans, but i do not want to compete with the droves of people that will be coming in the weekend of the 10th.

I'll ,make a call and see if we can get one more night at SSR, i will plan now to get a 5 day flex tikxx for the Girls and i, besides that, i think i owe you a BOTTLE OF WINE??!!! One bottle- B/C i will have to drive home saturday...unless you get in early enough on thursday to have our first bottle!
So guys, Julia has a trade show in Chicago in July. But we were talking last night doing a "Museum Trip" in Chicago sometime this summer.

Hey Lampy (and all other Turkey Day '05 cruisers..) has anyone seen this?

70,000 Beer Cans Found in Ogden Townhouse
May 17th, 2006 @ 9:38pm

John Hollenhorst reporting

A seemingly unbelievable mess discovered last year in an Ogden townhouse has suddenly become an Internet legend.

It's all TRUE!

You know how some people, after they use something, just can't bear to throw it away. That might make sense if it's magazines or clothes. But what if it's empty beer cans? In astounding numbers?

When property manager Ryan Froerer got a call from a realtor last year to check on a townhouse, he knew something was up.

Ryan Froerer, Century 21: "Said it was the sickest thing he's ever seen. Just unimaginable that someone could live in that."

He couldn't even open the front door. It was blocked from inside.

Ryan Froerer, Century 21: "There was beer cans I would say probably this high up on the door."

The realtor had forewarned him about the smell.

Ryan Froerer, Century 21: "He poked his head in, the smell was so awful he couldn't go in. "

At the back door, Froerer was astounded by what he saw in the kitchen.

Ryan Froerer, Century 21: "As we approached the door, there were beer boxes, all the way up to the ceiling."

Inside, he took just a few snapshots to document the scene. Beer cans by the tens of thousands. Mountains of cans burying the furniture. The water and heat were shut off, apparently on purpose by the tenant, who evidently drank Coors Light beer exclusively for the eight years he lived there.

Ryan Froerer, Century 21: "It's just unbelievable that a human being could live like that. "

To all outward appearances, the person who lived in the townhouse was the perfect tenant. He always paid on time and he never complained. He kept a low profile in the neighborhood.

Kirk Martin, Letter Carrier: : "Yeah I never delivered any mail there at all. I thought the apartment was vacant."

The cans were recycled for 800 dollars, an estimated 70,000 cans: 24 beers a day for 8 years.

Froerer e-mailed his photos to a couple of friends, who sent them to friends. Now he's getting calls from faraway places

Ryan Froerer, Century 21: "It's amazing how the internet can have the effect and get around. I'm sure it's been around the world. "

The townhouse was cleaned up last year and it's just fine today.

The man who lived there seems to be back on his feet. We spoke to him today and he says he's completely stopped drinking. He was welcomed back to his old job a few months ago, and his co-workers speak highly of him.
************************************************** ******
I knew it couldn't be Lampy, as this guy drank Coors! :rotfl2: But also, you're too much of a family man!

WMILLER86

No way that could be Lampy. Not near enough cans there.

He would never ruin his rep with such a pitiful per day number as 24.

No Problem
You have to remember
I am(and Family) a professional WDW Park experts
It has taken years of trips ( 5 of our trips have been ten days each)to develope such a strategic plan. :woohoo:
If you want to "hang" with us, you'll need to bring oxygen!
We will leave Saturday morning, Are you doing flex tixx?
Call or email this week, and you know we can do a conference call and bug someone else!

Willie- Julia was looking up rooms the other day
Email or call so we can figure out what to do, i have free flights for the two of us. We want to go only if we can see enough shows :cheer2:

Then after these trips we will be a few months closer to Nov 2007!

We don't need oxygen, we move light, fast and agile :moped: and don't wait in lines longer than 20min. Bailey is excited to see Jen & Jessica.

I'd love to do labor day also with Willie.. but jury is still out. We're taking a quckie Wonder cruise in November.

Flex is Park Hopper(whats in a name?)
We typ do AK in the morning to early afternoon then another park in the evening. Since we have been there so much. We only ride/see the stuff that we like and do not waist time on other stuff, However, since it is only me and the girls we may do some of the things we have not done in a while like MICKEY TOONTOWN!

We ALWAYS go to MK and straight to "IT'S A SMALL WORLD", First.
It is my rule and the family Knows it, and you know what?- they don't complain

Ditto on the quote above. We almost never hang around in the park in the mid afternoon in the summers. Up until T-day 04, 3 of our trips were tied in with a Magic cruise. One year we did cruise, 10 days at WDW and 4 at Vero.

I think it's going to be crowded the week after we leave this year... they aren't offering any AP discounts on lodging and MK hours are until midnight.

Would you be up for hitting AK early Friday, head somewhere to grab some lunch, some pool time, then head somewhere else in the evening?

I miss the cruise trip very much....and all the people we hung around with...that's so much fun...one week on a cruise is not enough!!!!

John/Doogs/and all

Here is what I have booked for the Vegas weekend. Like I said before, I am not telling Kelli about this til the last possible minute. It is a surprise trip for her birthday. To have friends meet us there would only make the surprise better.

Arriving Vegas at 10:30 Friday night, Sept 1

(Staying at Caesars Palace, it is a resort destination by itself)

Sat morn- Spa reservation for Kelli, walk the strip, hang by the pool

Sat Night- see a show (Celine, Cirque, Barry Manilow, not sure yet)

Sun- hang by pool -And Kelli is a Star Trek fan, so we may do the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton.

Sun night- see another show, or have dinner somewhere nice, or do BOTH

Mon- fly out Monday morning Sept 4th

As you guys know, I need to make up some brownie points for missing "Romantic Turndown" on the Magic. (two years in a row) oops.

This is my tenative schedule, but, I am open for suggestions for fun things to see in Vegas.

I hope you join us!

Oh yes. I remember now. It seems there were more of us who also had problems(?) with the romantic turndown? Ours was that the rose petals in the bathtub and the romantic 'swans' didn't appear until the night AFTER we dined at Palo.

I'm envious reading about some of you possibly getting together before the next Turkey Day cruise. After our NYC trip in August, Rob won't be able to take much time off to make until Thanksgiving and Christmas, and even then, not long enough for a cruise (which is what we'd love to do again.)

Julia, we like the eastern itinerary better than the western, but if given a choice, I'd sail the western REPEATEDLY with the Turkey Gang  before I'd sail the eastern. I'll bet others here who've done the eastern will agree. But of course, I'm not trying to sway your decision. :rolleyes1 (Hey, maybe we can be next-door neighbors again!)

Greetings All!

Previously I had posted my Spring Break '08 plans involving Bayonne and Bermuda... well forget all that... I was looking at Orthodox Easter :confused3 anyway had to start over and Easter '08 is REALLY early - March 23rd. So... nothing going on up here so back to Florida to start the journey..

I picked RCI Radiance of the Seas for an 8 day eastern:

Date Port Arrive Depart Activity

15-Mar Fort Lauderdale, Florida 5:00 PM Boarding

16-Mar Cruising Cruising

17-Mar San Juan, Puerto Rico 2:00 PM 8:00 PM Docked

18-Mar Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas 7:00 AM 6:00 PM Docked

19-Mar St. Johns, Antigua 8:00 AM 5:00 PM Docked

20-Mar Philipsburg, St. Maarten 7:00 AM 4:00 PM Docked

21-Mar Cruising Cruising

22-Mar Nassau, Bahamas 1:00 PM 6:00 PM Docked

23-Mar Fort Lauderdale, Florida 7:00 AM Departure

Anyone have anything to share about the Radiance or these ports? I am a bit disappointed to be giving up the Explorer of the Seas and the flightless trip but I'm sure it'll be fine!

Hope everyone is doing fine!

DD's will have school on Monday-Wed the 18thto 20th. With Hayley maybe having exams those days. She is usually exempt from exams because she has an "A" average and good attendance. But there is no guarantee.

So, the ten day is looking kinda shaky for us. Kelli and the girls were really wanting that cruise more than me.

Seems as if most Turkey Day cruisers who originally booked that cruise are having to cancel. :guilty: Just more reason for everyone to book Thanksgiving 2007! :teeth: Now, what are everyone's plans for spring break 2007? We still have a deposit for the eastern on the Magic! I'll have to check the dates again. As much as I went on and on about RCCL, I'd still prefer to sail DCL again, TWICE in one year! Don't know if Rob and Rachel would go for it though. RCCL is quickly becoming a fading memory for me. Why don't we all come up with another trip idea of some sort between now and November 2007? (Even though most of us are already committed to other plans for this summer.) What about NEXT summer, LOL!

I just finished transferring our cruise from this Thanksgiving to next year's. After reading the the posts on this thread (which, by the way, I don't think we'll have ANY problems in the least, keeping it alive) it looks as if 2006 is not a good year for most of the Turkey Day gang.

I'm sorry to read about Charlie's lay-off. If it's any consolation, Rob and I have been down that road many times. He and I 'took turns' working for companies which kept downsizing or closing altogether. As a result, we went for 8 years without vacationing anywhere.

I'll keep you and Charlie in my prayers. :) If anything good has come from this, it's for the Turkey Day gang in that you will be together with us NEXT Thanksgiving. Hang in there.

Hey Maria,

Sorry to hear about Charlies job. I had my share of lost jobs. I am too hard headed to work for someone else, so I started my own business.

Charlie is such a good guy that I am sure he will bounce back.

We are very close to cancelling the 10 Day Holiday due to our school changed holiday dates. Now Hayley will have exams.

I may not be able to wait til Thanksgiving 2007. I wanted to sail next summer, but the Magic will be overseas giving tourist dollars to the Europeans. :sad2:

I have been looking at going to the "DARK SIDE" and maybe doing RCCL Adventure of the Seas 7 day Eastern out of San Juan Puerto Rico. It is a huge ship and the price is good. Hits 6 ports, plus San Juan. Two adults in a balcony is $2904. total.
Doogie is eyeing it also. Take a look folks, at RCCL Adventure of the Seas sailing July 4th week departs on July 1.

We would have to start a new cruise thread on CC boards!

We may have to cancel the 10 day cruise as well. Since Chuck and I work at the same office it doesn't look like we will be able to get that much time off together, but we are still hoping. :sunny:

We just returned last night from Busch Gardens. It was Mason's first time there. We had a great time!! Mason was tall enough for 1 of the roller coasters w/ a 360 loop--he rode hands up in the first row!! :thumbsup2
Lampskie and Willie would love Busch Gardens--free beer!! However, no Miller Light--sorry!!

We are now home and at work for a few days and then we will be at WDW!! :cool1:

I have been looking at going to the "DARK SIDE" and maybe doing RCCL Adventure of the Seas 7 day Eastern out of San Juan Puerto Rico. It is a huge ship and the price is good. Hits 6 ports, plus San Juan. Two adults in a balcony is $2904. total.
Doogie is eyeing it also. Take a look folks, at RCCL Adventure of the Seas sailing July 4th week departs on July 1.

We would have to start a new cruise thread on CC boards!

Willie

Willie, you and Doogie DEFINITELY keep us posted! :Pinkbounc I don't know if we're going to sail next spring break (might just relax at home for a change) but we'll have our bags packed and waiting at the door if any of you Turkies commit to a date. I originally was apprehensive about cruising during summertime because of hurricanes, but realized it's the westerns which are usually hit. That would be great! How receptive would RCCL be to DISer families telling other cruisers "you should sail DCL. Their pirate night is incredible. Their Palo brunch is in a category all by itself, etc" LOL! Okay, maybe we wouldn't go that far (out loud anyway) but we can proudly wear our Castaway Cay shirts and DCL lanyards. :yay:

Willie and Lisa your words mean a whole lot.I will print these out,and give them to Charlie. It will cheer him up.Thank you!!Willie,I fully understand what you mean about not havng a boss.I love being my own boss.Hopefully, things will start looking up soon.Charlie's old boss called today, and she hasn't found anything either. She is like I was hoping to hear some good news.I told her not yet.

Willie-Eastern Cruise sounds good right about now.I love San Juan and the Eastern Itinerary. It so beautiful. If you decide to go,you must take tons of photos and post them.Yes,you will have to go to Busch Gardens-Free Beer!It is surely worth the ride if you like roller coasters as they have quite a few there.

Lisa-I hope you,Chuck and Mason get to go on the 10 day cruise.I know it must be really hard working in the same office as far as time off goes.It sounds like Mason had a great time at Busch Gardens.Charlie's favorite place besides Disney. He love the Montu.I haven't dared to ride it.

Wille, I like to see about RCCL...it's cheaper but I hear it's pretty good. I think my nephew just went on RCCL during Easter and he loved it. He went to the Eastern Carribean.

John and I are trying to get the new business going and hopefully we can plan a cruise next year.

Julia, Hi! I was thinking of you just the other day, (wishing you lived closer) as I'm tired of the boring, 'off-white' walls in some of our rooms of our house. :sad2: I remembered your beautiful faux-finishes! Unfortunately, we don't have any Disney trips scheduled anytime soon. We used to take Rachel out of school to visit WDW off-season (rates at GF and Polynesian were same as 'moderate' resorts at peak season!) but she'll be in sixth-grade this year, and I know it'll be tough to make-up what she missed in class.

Willie, I'm going to visit the Cruise Critic 'meets' thread. :) Is your USER ID the same? BTW, we're 'Disneycruisers.' Does booking this cruise mean you won't be going Thanksgiving 2007? I'm curious, because the school calendar is drastically changing August 2007, and I don't think we'll have the entire Thanksgiving week anymore. I think it's all of Texas, but I'm not positive. :confused3 I will admit, I'm more eager to sail with all of you Turkies again than I am about the Western itinerary, LOL! Rachel felt 'cheated' that she didn't have 'cornbread dressing and sweet potatoes' Thanksgiving Day (I promised her a 'traditonial' Thanksgiving dinner before we sail this time!) Rob could've cared less, he LOVED the lobster!

Calling all turkies..let's go check out the cruise critic thread! :yay:

Hi Tonya!

I've tried to provide a link to no avail. :confused3

First, go to www.rccl.com

Then (under 'quick vacation search') select dates (July 2007,) departure port (San Juan,) itinerary (Caribbean) and ship (Adventure of the Seas.) Be sure you select 01 July as there are two completely different itinerarires for Southern Caribbean. This one has only one day at sea.

This would be great if we can get the whole bunch of us to sail! :Pinkbounc We'll show RCCL how a group of cruisers REALLY have fun! (What will we call ourselves now? Firecrackers? :rotfl2: )

Pris,

Technically, I am booked for two cabins on the Thanksgiving sailing 2007. When I cancelled my 10 day, I just changed the date to that sailing, so I could keep my onboard cabin credit, and get 10% off my next 7 day DCL cruise. But I don't know if I will actually be sailing Turkey Day or not, since I am booked on the AOS July 1, 2007.
I may end up picking anothe DCL cruise for 2008. It would most likely be Thanksgiving that year. Or, maybe a summer cruise.
But I get to keep my discounts I got for rebooking onboard.

Update here..

We now have three Turkey Day families confirmed on the (ahem, cough) RCCL AOS sailing (July 1, 2007.) For those of you who haven't checked it out, it departs San Juan, and sails to Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten and St. Thomas. There is only one day at sea, and the ship docks at ALL ports, no tendering!

Like Willie, we're keeping our Thanksgiving 2007 booking to not lose the 10% discount (so we may rebook a later DCL date.) I know Thanksgiving might be a problem for some, (don't think we'll have the whole week anymore) but figured most would have more flexibility in the summer.

Hey Lampy, how receptive would your in-laws be to celebrating their anniversary just a couple of months later on another cruise line? Not that we're trying to influence your decision :rolleyes1 .

Priscilla and Willie-

We checked out the RCL web site, but for us it gets too costly to fly to San Juan when there are so many RCL ships that set sail from Florida. Also, for us Thanksgiving is actually a better time to get away than in the summer--it's the only time of the year that our office is closed 2 days in a row. Sorry--we won't be able to join you next summer. :guilty:

Lisa and Chuck, if we lived in sunny Florida :beach: (I'd be very happy :teeth: .)

No, seriously, I couldn't fathom paying airfare if I had all of the major cruise lines in my own backyard.

And we'll all still sail DCL again. There's no way I'm canceling our Thanksgiving 2007 until the last possible moment. (I canceled our Thanksgiving 2005 booking in late February, said good-bye to everyone on the thread, and, in April, ended up rebooking to the tune of 1200.00 more at the new rate!)

Who else out there is going to join us on RCCL?

Don't worry Lisa! One day the Turkeys will reunite at Thanksgiving and rock the ship again! that is why we all keep our bookings, so we can sail DCL again. It is the best! I just don't know if ours will be 2007, or 2008.
Kelli is set on seeing the Eastern Ports.
Me, I don't care about where I go, as long as it is hot, sandy, and has clear water! Oh yes, and the company I sail with is very important. But ports? Who cares? They are all good to me. I feel blessed beyond belief just to be able to sail now and again! As a boy, I never dreamed I would have the chance to see the beautiful places I have seen.

Julia,
It is The RCCL Adventure of the Seas sailing July 1-8 (Sunday-Sunday) 2007, out of San Juan PR. The air there is a little more than flying to MCO, but the savings on the cruise more than make up for it. The big seller for Kelli was the 7 different ports, and the ship looks terrific. On C.C. boards the reviews are pretty good from C.C. members that have sailed her.
We were able to get two verandah cabins for about half what two insides were gonna cost me on the 10 Day Holiday. It is not the Magic, but hey the Magic is fooling around on me, by leaving next summer for the Med. If she were on her usual route, we would most likely be sailing her.
I hope many Turkeys can join us.

W

Same here. I'm very sad at the thought of not sailing the Magic for what will (probably) be two years. :sad2 There WERE diasppointing moments on RCCL for us. (Saying this only to give time to mentally prepare yourselves.) Their horn is just a horn. (annoying, actually.) Don't anticipate any excitement or surprises at their sailaway party. And their 'caribbean night?' (I think that's what it's called, I've already forgotten) Just pretend it never happened. It's their answer to DCL's Pirate night. pirate: It's one time I actually came close to crying. (No, seeing the DCL ship dock the morning we were in Costa Maya was! And hearing DCL's horn.)

However, the great times we had on RCCL outnumbered the 'DCL moments,' and we couldn't wait to rebook! :Pinkbounc And, for the many of you who have teenagers, this most likely will be their favorite cruise. Our tablemates had a 16 year-old son whom we didn't meet until 2nd formal night (at their insistance, he came to the dining room that night.) We were awestruck when we first set foot on the ship and saw the promenade level. (Okay, enough
'rambling' here. I'm just getting excited again, even though it's more than a year away, LOL!)

We are in need for new windows, but that has to wait.

Since we haven't been on this thread in the last week or so, I hope everyone else is doing fine. We are leaving this Saturday night to Hilton Head. We will spend a few days at rental house and then a few day at Disney's Resort. (looking forward to that.)

If John brings his lap top to Hilton Head....we will try to keep you posted.

Julia:

We haven't decided. Its almost impossible to get my step daughter on a cruise, due to time contraints (this years included). I would love to go on the July 4th cruise, but we have a special holiday event at my moms, I have never missed one yet. (Yes, I would love for them to come along, but its like pulling teeth getting them to leave the state, let alone the country). As far as Thanksgiving 2007 is concerned, we haven't decided, I know we need to so we can get a better price, but, I would have to decide if the cruise is worth my sanity when dealing with my second job. (I had pretty much decided to quit). But who knows. Which one have you decided on?

We miss you. Hunter keeps asking if you have decided to come on the cruise with us. (We (parents) would like it too).

Take care and have a great time at Hilton Head. You will have to tell us all about it.

We hope that everyone had a great 4th of July!! We had to work on the 3rd and today so it wasn't much of a holiday for us! :confused3 But it's always great to celebrate the birthday of our great country!! :cool1:

Ok, we just found out definitely that we will not be able to do the 10 day cruise this year--cannot take the time from work. However, we can take the week of thanksgiving (it's a great week for us to be away b/c it only affects 3 working days). Soo....are there any turkeys going on the Magic this thanksgiving? Please let us know.

I got a PM from him a few months ago when he last posted. He was worried that he was spending too much time on the DIS Boards. (Go figure!)

He said when he books another Disney cruise he will get involved online again.

I miss his jokes, too.

I'm hoping we can recruit him to join us on the RCCL cruise next summer. Being a Floridian though, he might not want to spring for five airfares to SJU when he has most major cruise lines in his own backyard. :worried: It's worth trying to convince him though! (Especially with a lot of other fellow turkies-turned-fun-bunch cruisers.)

We have sailed the Turkey Magic 2004, 2005, and we are booked for 2006 and 2007!! :thumbsup2 Do you think we enjoy spending Thanksgiving on the Magic??? In 2007 it will be my DH (Chuck), me (Lisa) and our DS (Mason) who will be 8.

Each of the trips we have taken prior to 2007 have/will be a double dip at CC because of a race at Key West that weekend. However, from what we have heard, the race will not be taking place in 2007 so it looks like the Magic will be going to Key West.

Actually, Mason has been very helpful. He has been making his bed and helping w/ the chores. We could use the Magic!!

Here's the story--I was crossing the street in a crosswalk in front of the courthouse to go to a hearing. A car didn't see me and almost hit me. I jumped out of the way and not being the most graceful person, fell on my arm carrying my file. The driver didn't get out--just drove away after I got my stuff and got up. Also, nobody stopped to help--not even to give me a card!! Yep, I went into the courthouse, got an icepack from the bailiff, had the hearing and then went to the emergency room.

Willie, I laughed out LOUD when I read that. :lmao: It's so true! Rob's parents were originally from Connecticut, and you should have seen his reaction the first time he attended a family reunion (my mother's side) in Tyler! Definitely, uh, strong women. (Vocally, and physically as well. Similar to the matriarch in the movie 'Giant', if you ever saw that.) I tell you, the 75 year-old woman who coordinated the reunion every year went home at the end of the day and pushed a lawnmower! (This was in June, 85 degree heat.) :sunny:

I hired some guys from out of state to help me finish off all of my remaining damaged trees from Hurricane Rita a few weeks ago. While they were here, Kelli and I were working in the yard. Mowing, weeding flower beds, moving the flowere beds around, etc. When I was paying the guys, they were amazed that my wife would be out in the yard in 95 degree heat working her tail off right beside me.
I told that I still help in the kitchen and she still helps me in the yard. I got the better deal!
