Hello there,

We are heading to the park next week and I was wondering if I needed to bring sunscreen? Here in Texas we are using it if we are outside for the day, but I am not sure about DL as we have never been there before.

Thanks all,

Yes!! Sunscreen never goes out of style in California. I would use it even if it is cloudy, especially on children. :sunny:

I made the mistake of thinking we wouldn't need it once and we did. I had to buy a bottle at disney and it was $12.00 for 4 ounces. I almost fainted.

I need sunscreen when I open the refridgerator door, man that light is bright!

It's up to the individual person. I burn like bacon on homer simpsons stove, so I need sunscreen when I look at a picture of the sun.

Be wise and bring it just in case!

I use a San Diego Hat Company hat which you can scrunch up and stuff in a bag during rides and it goes back to its shape when you put it on. It helps with the face and ears but believe it or not, I still got a bit sunburned on my neck/chest through my Tinkerbell high neck t-shirt and that was last week! Sunblock is always good especially if you burn easily. It's better to be protected than having to buy a very expensive bottle of aloe with lidocane.

We were at Disneyland in Feb. and my DH thought I was nuts for bringing sunscreen. Sure enough the one day I forgot to put it on I got burned. :furious: (The temperature was in the mid 60's too.)

We were there last week and got a little pink a couple of the days. Then again, it was partly cloudy/rained a couple of the other days, so we might have gotten pink every day. While we were at SeaWorld, they hawked sunscreen (and souvenirs) at the shows (very tacky in my opinion, but whatever works I suppose).

If it's cool and you're wearing long pants and a long sleeved shirt, then you should be okay with just a wide brimed hat. If you don't like hats, then a dab on your nose and cheeks should do the trick.

If it's warm and your legs/arms are exposed, then you better wear sunscreen.

Let me put it to you this way; as a teenager, I use to go out to the beach on a cloudy day and still get tanned using a spf of 8 - 15. I'm not fair skinned either, more of a medium.

BRING YOUR SUNSCREEN!

You should always bring it. Even if it's overcast you can burn!

Bullfrog Quick Gel is the best on the market. SPF 36, and last a long long time, even water proof. Being 80% Irish ancestry I am best described as pasty. So when I heard this is what competitive water skiiers and other athletes use, i bought a bottle. Went a week in Orlando in July without a burn, just a touch of color, but a healthy hue. Wallmarts carries it for about 8 bucks a bottle. It is a clear gel, dries fast, and doesnt have a lingering smell.

What a great tip! I'm always getting sunblock in my eyes and end up with watery eyes and spots all over my glasses. It's so annoying. Next time I'll try Bullfrog. I also have some Irish ancestry but blame the glowing white skin on the English part. My cousin, who is part Native American, didn't believe that I glowed in the dark until she saw me one evening in the moonlight. lol.

yup, everyone has already given the great advice of sunscreen. I wear lotion with spf every day - and always to DL...ok, unless it's raining, then maybe only on my face. :)

I have known people to get really bad sunburns when it is overcast...

So true! We were there about 2 weeks ago and it was cloudy almost everyday. We still got burnt! Definitely bring it along... like everyone said, it's much cheaper than buying it in the park.
