View Full Version : Help, I feel guilty! Anyone else do this with reservations?

I know I'm going to WDW in September, but I don't know yet which of two weeks we'll be able to go. It all depends on DS's schedule, which we should find out in a few weeks. But, because I don't want to wait, and possibly not be able to get what/where I want, I made reservations for BOTH weeks, knowing that as soon as we find out DS's schedule, I'm going to call and cancel one of them. I feel so guilty knowing that I have a reservation that I know I'm going to cancel (although of course, I don't know which one yet). Please tell me I'm not the only one who's done this-I promise I'll call right away to cancel once I know which one. Oh, and if anyone's interested, they've still got all 3 types of studios at BWV as well as BCV available for the third week in September.

You are obviously going in a slow time since there are so many empty rooms! I am always in a borrowing mode, so I can't cover myself like you are doing, but that's all within the rules. Who knows, DS and you for 1 week and you by yourself for the other one! Anyway, I think it's fine.

Don't feel guily, if you have enough points to double book enjoy. I would think most of us on the DIS would feel jealous, wishing we had the freedom to do the same. I have extra nights for our July trip booked, I will drop a few nights at either end once I zero in on, and book our flights.
Besides you plan to release one of the weeks as soon as you know when you can go.
Enjoy!!!

Of course there's no problem in doing this! You have the points. It's within your rights to do so. I'm sure MANY folks have done this and will do this in the future.
Besides, you stand a BIG chance of making someone's day when their waitlist comes through later on in the year!
Have fun on your trip and don't waste any more time on feeling guilty!

Thanks so much. Now I feel better. And bobbiwoz, no I'm not going with DS either week. But I've just got to tell someone about his "schedule" before I burst with nerves. He's applied for a summer internship performing at Disney (it could be DL or WDW, if he gets either). He did it last summer at DL and loved it (so did Mom). Two weeks ago he auditioned for this summer. Needless to say, I'm waiting anxiously to find out if/where he'll be. So everyone, if you have any spare pixie dust, please send it DS's way for him to be in the Disney All American College Band again!
And depending on if/where he is determines which week I'd go to WDW.

Don't worry about it. If someone wants the reservation that you have they will waitlist it and will be thrilled when it comes through. You are hurting no one and protecting yourself. That was a smart thing to do. So much less stress for you in the end. I would love to go in September because it seems less crowded. Gone are the days I can take my kids from school at the start of the year for that, as my oldest will be in her last year of middle school and my oldest will be in his first year of high school. :sad2:

He plays trumpet. And any of you with "Incredibles" fans, last summer they played the theme from the "Incredibles", as well as "A musical tour of DL", which was a medley from all different rides-Tiki room, IASW, POTC, Indiana Jones, etc. It was really neat and the guests loved it!

More pixie dust! What a great reason to go to either DL or WDW.
