Has anyone ever been in December. We are planning a 10 day trip to Disney Dec 1 through Dec 10 and DD,6 loves Shamu. Will they still be running all of the shows and such in December. Wasn't sure about weather temps and such in December.

Anyone ever been during that time of year? What were your experiences?

Thanks

the first of december is still pretty nice here. highs in the low 70's and lows in the 50's. usually the only thing that shuts down a show or ride here is lightning or a hard rain. December is the dry season, so really no worry about that.

We went mid-December 2005. It will be warmer than Maine! :sunny: You can't count on summer temperatures (though you MIGHT get them) so you need to layer. Good raingear works well for both colder/windier and rainy days, we found. The shows go year-round and are under cover.

Seriously, if you're from Maine you will be trotting around in shorts while people from warmer climes wear hats and gloves and complain about the cold. We were swimming in our heated hotel pool and sitting around it in shorts while the lifeguard was bundled up in sweats, hat and mittens, LOL! I wonder if she would have taken them off and jumped into the pool if there had been need!

We've been to Florida twice in late December and have found that the weather does not affect the shows or rides at that time of year! :goodvibes

We're from Scotland - so we can relate to the comment by Northstar! :thumbsup2 We too, have been touring the parks in shorts and tee's and have gotten very strange looks from folks in full length coats, scarves, hats and gloves! :rotfl2: Still, bring a jacket because just like everywhere else, you can get a colder day (we needed our jackets a couple of days in December 2004! ;) )

I'm currently sitting looking out at grey skies, it has been raining/snowing on and off all morning and the wind is howling (it's only lunchtime here) - give us one of Florida's cold winter days anytime! :sunny:

We went December 19th one year and it was the coldest that I have ever been in Florida. They had their flowers covered almost all day for fear of frost. The temperature had no affect on the rides or shows though.

SW is great at the holidays. This past year they had a special Shamu show for Christmas that was totally amazing (we went two nights in one week, so I could video tape it - my battery ran out!). The park is decorated nicely, and they do a water/music show at park closing that was beautiful. It even "snowed" on the way out of the park.

December can bring us just about any weather. Our first Christmas here it was 75 degrees. This year was on the cold side.....

Don't let the chily weather stop you from enjoying SW in the evening!

I went in December two years ago and they had the dolphin tank closed for refurbishment. :sad2:

This was a big disappointment. The Shamu show was nice though, I videotaped it. It was not that cold.

Go and have a great time.
