I posted this question on the resort bulletin board when I should have posted it here I think.
Does anyone have any info on love bug season in May? We are arriving May 7 and I've been to Disney years ago in May and seem to remember lots of lovebugs! I am taking my 18 mo old daughter this time and am worried about the bugs bothering her.

Well,
DW and me will be there in May if that counts - excuse my ignorance, but what are Love Bugs?
I just think of Herbie, so unless it's a VW Beetle convention i'm a bit puzzled! - LOL

We were there in September and they were EVERYWHERE! Fortunately my two girls didn't get too freaked out by them or it might have been a miserable trip. I've never heard of them being around in May. Maybe a search of this board will yield some more information. Good luck!

My first try @ posting a link. Somebody else posted this article under love bug questions, and it's really good. If the link doesn't work, it was from about.com.

As the article above me says, in May and around September the love bugs come out! (even here in SC) They are quite annoying but they don't bite which is the good thing! BUT they travel in swarms so walk with your mouth closed ;) FYI, they are called love bugs because "they mate while in flight"

When we were there last May, we saw lots of them. Never any swarms, though. We saw them alot on the monorail. The monorail driver told us that they come out in May and September.
Your daughter is young, but in my house we watch a show called "Catdog" (which is a character that has a head of a cat and a head of a dog at either end). Well, the "lovebugs" are mating so they are connected. My daughter kept calling them catdogs. That's how I remember.
They never bothered us though, at all. And we didn't see them everywhere either. So, I wouldn't worry about them.
