Ethan's birthday party couldn't have been better. We had it at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. The New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts had a pre-season game here last night so there were a lot of VIP's in town. Just so happens there was one at the Hall of Fame with a group of kids. He was told it was Ethan's b'day and he came to meet him! We are die-hard Mississippi State fans and it was a former player of theirs, Johnny Cooks. He won the Super Bowl with the New York Giants so some of you may have heard of him. He has retired in Starkville, MS which is where Mississippi State University is. He said he couldn't stay away from his beloved Bulldogs! Anyway, we had pics made with him and talked a while. Ethan came up to his beltbuckle! He was a linebacker. Ethan was on cloud 9 all day from that meeting. I guess pixie dust can fly pretty good!

We are watching the development of Ernesto carefully. I think it's going to go more to the west of MS. I don't wish that on anyone, but our coastal residents couldn't take another hit, even a minor one! Thanks for all the prayers for us and New Orleans.

I'm off to take a shower. We are going to see How to Eat Fried Worms in a little while. I'm glad he likes going to the movies, it's easier to explain why you see all the kiddie ones when you have a kid!

Have a good Sunday!

So we were close to being on page 3! ACK!

How to Eat Fried Worms is a great movie! We laughed out loud a few times. Ethan still talks about a certain part and acts it out.

Looks like Ernesto is going to miss us but head over to Florida. I hope it moves across quickly and doesn't ruin anyone's plans.

I was looking at the previous posts and forgot about the t-shirts. I like the one with the pirate and ship. It doesn't matter which one is on the front to me. I just like having both on there. Are we getting small ones for the kids also? I know Ethan would love it!

Well, I guess I should dry my hair and get ready. I'm going to pee in a cup and get fingerprinted for my new job application. Fun, I know. Hopefully I'll be reporting in soon and telling y'all about my new job!

Have a great Monday! Well, it that's possible. LOL!

Yikes, so much to catch up on......

Gent, no problem, the more the merrier, hopefully they will come on soon and chat.

Kim1, glad everything went well, you just have to do what is right for you and Noah. I do agree with you on them not meeting yet, I know too many people who have brough the kids in on a relationship too early and it is always a disaster, almost like a divorce all over again.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY ETHAN!!!!

Welcome back Lori!!!. I have always taken the kids out of school and really don't care what teachers or principals have to say. I have never asked. I always tell the teachers in advance but also have told them not to send homework as we are on vacation and I am not spending it making sure they get the work done. They can do it before we leave...as I give notice the first day of school when we are going or they can catch up after. We have been lucky it has never been a issue. Now my kids are in highschool and have never failed so I guess I didn't damage them too much :goodvibes But our high school gets a weeks vacation at the end of Oct into November so we always travel then.

Did I miss anythings, sorry if I did. We are spending so much time trying to find DS a car as he will be going away to school next year...well still living at home but will have to travel for school so gots to get a car without having to mortgage the house......lol

OK back to work, have a great day all.

Hey everyone,

Kim1 sorry things didn't work out for you with your ex. I think things happen for a reason and maybe it was not what would be best for you and Noah.

Well I might be bailing on this cruise. DH and I are thinking of going to Alaska in May and he told me I can't do both :confused3 So I have a decision to make, although I love Disney I have done the eastern and doing western this year and we have never done Alaska so I have some serious thinking to do.

WHat to do what to do?

That wouldn't even be an option for me! When I think of vacation I think of sun, sand and froo froo drinks :smooth: . I know everyone is different, but I like going south for vacation! I'd love to see the wildlife in Alaska, but not at the expense of sun and sand! I know, I'm probably in the minority but I'm trying to persuade you to go on the cruise! We sure would miss you on the cruise, but if this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, go for it!

Nothing new here. Ethan's first flag football meeting is next Wed. We are going to be really busy until football season is over. We have season tickets to Mississippi State games. We are going to The Incredibles on ice next Sunday, after we go to the State vs Auburn game on Sat. We also have karate on Mondays and Thursdays. His football practice and games have to fit in somewhere! I agree, I need 4 of me also!

Kim, sorry to hear about the ex. My motto is "if it didn't work the first time, there's a reason" and I don't try again. I know I may miss out on a wonderful time by sticking by that rule, but so far for me it's been true!

Hope y'all have a great holiday weekend! Stay safe!

Looks like everyone went away for the weekend - lucky! I've been home cleaning out drawers and organizing closets - stuff no one sees. I've also been working on Girl Scout stuff. I'm going to be leader this year for my DD's troop. It's not like I have enough to do - I'm team mom for my DS's baseball team(S), room mom and a secretary on our school/parish women's guild. I guess I just don't know when to put my hand down. We also have our big parish festival on the 23rd and I just signed up to work 5 different booths that weekend.

But, I booked my summer vacation for next year! So, let's see, I'll have a Summer Vacation and a Fall Vacation next year! :cool1: :cool1: I guess I'll be eating pb&j sandwiches for lunch from now on to save $$$.

We are also trying to see if we can getaway for our 24th wedding anniversary too. (the 25th will be on the cruise) We want to go to Vegas but everything seems so expensive right now. It's funny, cause I'll spend $200 a night to stay at the Yacht Club in WDW, but I won't spend $99 for a night at the Mirage in Vegas! Priorities I guess!

OK, so I'm starting to freak out a little bit. I need y'all to ease my fears. I'm starting to think maybe we should go to WDW the whole time instead of a cruise. Help! I was reading a post that said 7 is a wonderful, magical age to go to WDW. I then started thinking that we can cruise at any age but he probably wouldn't want to cruise DCL when he's older. I then started thinking that cruising with DCL is the best of both worlds. We were at WDW for the first time in June and he was almost 7. When we cruise he will have just turned 8. Close enough? Will one day at MK ease my fears or make me regret it? Can you tell I'm on sinus meds and have nothing else to do? LOL! I checked into the land/sea package and I don't think that either would be long enough. They also leave on wierd days so that's totally out. I know we will have a good time on the cruise, but will I be missing out on a "magical age" with my son that we will never be able to recreate?

"but he probably wouldn't want to cruise DCL when he's older."

No way vital, the twins were 9 when we first found the mouse, long story cut short my wife NEVER had any interest in WDW or the US for that matter,"Am going to take the kids to disney weather you come or not"..Ok i'll come on one Condition we go for 3 weeks and we do a cruise after the parks...we'd been to turkey the year before and someone had been talking about some boat disney had so off we trot to the travel agents to have alook into this floating mouse and 2 hours and $20,000 dollars later were booked. The most we'd ever paid for a holiday before was about $6000 so you see this was a very big decision on my wife's part anyway..lol..
A year soon pasted and were hot to trot to the airport,on Arrival we had one or two problems with are travel agents which took the glosh off things (wife would have got back on the plane given half a chance) UNTIL we got off are ****'s and got into the swing of things. The parks were HUGE,the parks in england simply don't have the space they do in florida everything is so much bigger (well not everything but we won't go down that road here)over your way.
We LOVED the parks but the one HUGE problem you may have with your little chap is if he likes the rides as almost ALL the "BIG" rides have height restrictions on them so it's like taking him into a sweet (candy)shop and not buying him any leaving him a very un-happy bunnie :sad2:
I was lucky as digger was'nt into the real big ones so i only had to worry about rosie (who is fearless)chucking a wobbler if she could'nt get on a ride which only happened once at seaworld The kraken...we had tears and lots of them...
See ive gone on again,my point was WAIT to do the parks until he's bigger
so the height restrictions aint an issue one way or the other he can take them or leave them.
Don't forget i gave them the choice this time "2 weeks parks one week cruise" or "1 week parks 2 weeks cruise"...it took all of 2 seconds for them to decide...
The secret imho of a good holiday is to let your hair down and Enjoy what you have while you've got it (not something us english are good at i may add)
and dont come home saying "oh i wish i'd done that"... :yay:

ps...Oh the wife, now loves the US and micky and would move state side at the drop of a hat with or without me,some would say "can't blame her really"....

Kim2 - I would be sooo sad if you ended up in Alaska! I would, however, understand. It's a long time out to book a vacation and not have changes!

Lori - we did go away for the weekend to Great Wolf Lodge (a hotel/waterpark) and you can still ring water out of me! It was a blast. Almost a 4 hour drive from our house but in beautiful Traverse City. I must find a way to post pics. That's my goal when I return from Seattle this weekend.

Paula - the parks are wonderful but the CRUISE is awesome!!! Noah had the choice... and he chose the cruise without hesitation. Much like Chris's kids!

Well, I'm off to Seattle tomorrow. I have to conduct some interviews for staff underwriters out there. It is so hard to find good people that can work well on their own since their manager is all the way in Michigan!

I think the Pacific Northwest is one of the prettiest areas I've seen in the U.S so far. See you all this weekend!

Good Morning everyone,

I have to catch up but just thought I'd post. Looks like DD and I are still on board. We really want to do go Alaska but we think 2008 will be better. 2007 is going to be a big year, DS away to school, buying a car, paying for school.....etc and when we go to Alaska we want to "do it up right" a week cruise, and a week or two exploring the West so we have decided for 2008 to go.

DD was happy, she is looking forward to being away with just me. I can guarantee, she will ditch me the first night....lol

Have a great day all.

OK, so I was thinking again about all the things before and have decided to do what I had originally planned. I just think about all the fun we had at WDW and want to do it again! I want to do the funnest things WITH him before he gets too cool to do things with his mom, ya know?

So, now I'm trying to decide where to stay that night at WDW. I'm eligible for the nurse discount at the Swan/Dolphin. It's only a few more dollars than POFQ which I loved. It's $70 more than All Star Sports. I know we are only going to literally be in the room to sleep so I don't know what to do. Luxury *well to me anyway* vs value. Can y'all tell I don't have much to do right now? LOL! If any of you have experiences with these hotels, please let me know your opinions! What about staying off site? Anyone have any suggestions there? I'm just planning on going to MK for the day.

When can I buy tickets to the MNSSHP? I know it's a year away but I don't want them to sell out! That would be horrible! Are any of you going to be at MK the night before the cruise? If so, let me know and we can meet on Main Street!

Well, I guess that's all for now! Thanks as usual for listening to my rantings!

I have stayed at Pop, Movies and sports and all are fine, just basic rooms, and pools. If I was going to stay at a resort I would spend the extra and stay at one of the mods but we really only shower and sleep in the room and swim each night before bed so the values are just fine for us. I think we are staying at Music next as it is the only one we haven't stayed at but I will let DD decide that.

We are arriving Thurs and going to MNSSHP that night. Tickets will go on sale a few months before. Friday night we will chill, go to DTD and probably O'Hana's for dinner.

Babs have fun in Jamicia, we are cruising right after your trip. Can't wait.

Speaking of Halloween and since my kids are poring thru catalogs to pick out their costumes for this year, are any of you going to put on your trick or treat outfits pirate: princess: :joker: next year while on the cruise? Or should we wait to see if DCL does anything special for Halloween night? It's my DD's 12th bday so we usually try to do something special for her in the midst of it all (but what's more special than being on a Cruise?). I'm already packing my suitcase in my head and seeing if I have room for a couple of costumes. I suppose I can do something inexpensive (or purchase at the after Halloween sale this year) and leave it behind so that there will be more room for souveniers!

Hope all are well! :wizard:

Welcome!!!!!! Glad you are joining us. You wouldn't happen to have a 15 year old daughter cruising with you.....my DD appears to be the only one her age out there....oh well lots of time. She did chat to some kids on these threads last year and the funny thing is she didn't hang out with any of them, met other kids and she is still in touch with 2 of them...almost a year later.

6 weeks tomorrow I am going on my Miracle cruise.....can't wait....wish it was Disney though.

Have a great day

I know... and I HATE the buttcrack of dawn! :lmao: For me, my day starts at 5:45 a.m., Noah to daycare by 7:35, me to work by 8:15 and IF I'm lucky (normally I'm not) I leave at 4:15. That gets me to Noah by 5:00. If I don't leave work on time, I usually don't get to him until 6:15 or 6:30! That's such a long day for him... I have to try to get out on time! :furious:

I put out an email to my staff that since school has started, Noah has homework in 1st Grade.... please do NOT call me after I leave the office. I had 3 calls on my way home or after I made it home, today. :sad2: Are managers not allowed to have a life? :confused3

Hey Kim2, have you been reading the rumors of a new Disney ship on the CA coast doing Alaska in 2008? I can't imagine how they have kept a new ship under wraps to have her sail by then.... :confused3

Noah has his first Soccer game today. He's pretty excited. Do any of you have the indoor play areas called Pump It Up? It's a warehouse filled with moon bounce type things (but way cooler). I had booked his birthday party there but then Disney on Ice was announced.

This year, it's more BOY oriented - The Incredibles at Magic Kingdom and it's his birthday weekend! So... $185 for 3 tickets later... that's his "party". I haven't told him WHAT special thing that we are doing, only that he's going to love it and invite one special friend. :woohoo:

Well, he's having a friend sleep over tonight so I'll probably be hanging here for sanity. Everyone have a GREAT weekend!

He'll LOVE it! We went last weekend and Ethan had a blast. When they would show the different ride scenes he would yell, "I've been there!" Just be prepared. I bought a bad of cotton candy with a Dash mask on it for $10! It's pretty expensive for the toys, etc. The coloring book is only $5 though.

We are heading to the Mississippi State football game tonight. I get season tickets every year and I know that one year we WILL actually win the important games!

We are flying in the Friday night before the cruise, staying at the airport hotel. Then, the Saturday we return to Port, we are staying at the Poly and doing MK for that day/night, leaving Sunday after our cruise to come home.

The only change I might make is to have Noah miss Friday and we come in on Thursday night. If the MNSSHP is on that Friday night I might do that instead! Not sure yet.

He'll LOVE it! We went last weekend and Ethan had a blast. When they would show the different ride scenes he would yell, "I've been there!"

I am so bummed. I don't know how it happened but just before I left for Seattle I saw the advertisement for the Disney on Ice INCREDIBLES at Magic Kingdom show "tickets on sale this Friday". Since I was traveling and wouldn't be near a computer I had my assistant buy the tickets for me. I just got them in yesterday's mail and it's for Disney on Ice 100 Years of Magic!!! I know that wasn't the advertisement that I saw... I am SOOOOOO bummed. He would have loved the other one more... but I'm sure he's going to like this one too. The thing is, he won't even know since it was a surprise. :sad2:

I checked too, it's not like she bought the wrong ones... this is the only Disney on Ice coming at that time!

I had my first flash of excitement for this trip last night. I was looking through a cruise TR and got all excited going through their pictures. :goodvibes Up to to that point I was still in the am I doing the right thing frame of mind. :teeth:

Since you all are talking about days before and after I just wanted to ask. If I'm not going to the parks before or after; what would you recommend?
I'll be flying into Orlando, and would like to stay in an inexpensive hotel the night before and after the cruise. I didn't get the Disney transportation; I imagine I can add it if I need to. I can get a discounted la quinta room any time and I saw one near port canaveral. Would it be worth it to stay around there? What is the best way to get there? Whew, I know, lotsa questions huh.

Put some socks on if you get cold feet. Better yet, go back to the TR's and keep dreaming!

I've always done the parks before/after... not sure what I would do if we weren't. I did stay in Port Canaveral the night before a Carnival Cruise (Doubletree/Embassy Suites?) but the limo driver that brought us to the hotel from the airport the night before took a liking to us and came back the next morning and took us to the port! He was "in the neighborhood" bringing another family from WDW to the port so he added us as a side trip!

Okay, back on topic ;) has anyone listened to the DisUnplugged Roundtable for 9/19. The one guy (I can't remember his name) just came back from a Disney Cruise on the Magic. It's pretty interesting; especially if you never have been on this excursion. Talks about Grand Cayman and how people who did excursions came back happier than those who just did shopped. He also talks about other things on the cruise. :thumbsup2

Here's the link if anyone want to hear it. It's a good listen while you Dis.

Hello,

Not sure where to stay the night before. Anybody with experience to share? We're thinking of arriving in the afternoon and staying at the airport Hyatt, for something different. We did AKL the night before last fall, and it was nice, but resulted in 3 transfers (MCO-AKL, AKL-PC, PC-MCO). This is our "leave the driving to others" vacation, so we weren't planning on renting a car.

Hi and welcome to our thread! :cheer2: I'm taking my son who will be 8 at the time of sailing on his 3rd cruise and it will be my 5th, but it will be our first Disney cruise. I've been to St Thomas 3 times and St Martin once. I know we're going on the Doubloon sail and snorkel to St John when we are in St Thomas. You get to sail over on a "pirate ship" and snorkel with sea turtles and other fishies. Then on the way back, they tattoo you with pirate tattoos *fake of course* and they bust out the Painkillers and other adult drinks for the pirates and wenches and sodas for the little ones. They let the kids sail the boat while the adults chill and enjoy the rrrrrrum! pirate:

I'm still researching St Martin and I'll get back to you on that one. Last time we were there we got off the ship and just went to the beach right at the dock. I'm going to venture out and explore more. I know if you google st martin you'll find some awesome beaches. I'm just trying to decide which one I want to go to. Maybe some of y'all will help me decide and we can do it together.

As for activities on the boat......I know I'm signing up to do some martini and beer tasting pirate: . It is vacation after all! I've got some dances reserved, right ;) ? I'm sure we'll all have a great time!

We are driving down the Thursday evening before and staying at WDW and going to the Halloween party the Friday night before. When we were at MK this past June they were refurbishing the Pirates of tne Caribbean ride and DS was mad we missed it. He has an inner pirate that kinda scares me pirate: .

Anyway, didn't mean to be so long winded but welcome to the cruise!

Hey everyone,

Yaaa Noah!!!!!!!

We have been to St Marten and St Thomas before so not too sure what we will do, we figure in St Thomas we will just got to Paradise Peak or Peak Paradise can't remember and get one of those drinks...can't remember what it is called, we wanted to go there last night but did a tour with Sunny Liston instead and didn't really have enough time to get up there. If anyone is looking for a great tour, Sunny was amazing...$20 PP and he took us on a tour, shopping and a beach break it was so much fun.

St Marten last time we did the under 2 flags tour with Disney, it was OK but don't need to do it again. I just think we might take the water taxi over to the shopping area and beach and hang out.

Castaway Cay, we hope to Parasail this time, last time it was cancelled due to high winds so we hope to do it this time.

And of course Palo for brunch once or twice, can't do a dinner as I will have DD with me and I don't want to leave her for a dinner.

Hope everyone stops in to chat soon, welcome to any newbies I might have missed.

have a great day all.

Kim

Just checking in to say hi. Been busy with new job and Ethan's flag football. I feel like I'm watching the Bad News Bears movie sometimes when I see his team play!

I see we have slacked off a little on the conversation lately. Hopefully everyone will settle into new routines and can stop by more!

Have a good day! :sunny:

Hi Everyone!

For St. Marteen I am thinking of doing the Speedboat Lagoon thing(?) looks like fun! St. Thomas who knows, myabe just the tram for some great shots and a visit to the town. We did a tours of each island last time, and this time it is up in the air. I will be doing excursions on my own or with DISers.

DM is staying on the ship, she is old and she said she didn't feel safe on the islands. It may have had something to do with our crazy drivers, lol.

Hi hockeychic. That Sonny Liston tour sounds interesting; i like the price too. :teeth:
I definitely want to go snorkeling; never have done it and I want to try.

Not sure what else is good. I don't care too much for shopping unless it's something really different; I can go 20 minutes south accross the border and get silver jewelry, alchohol, and other stuff pretty cheap where I am.

SIDENOTE:
I was watching tv and this commercial came on. It had a scene of a beach with waves rolling in, and from the right this hand with a bottle of Corona kept coming into & out of fram. Everytime it came into frame a hand on the left would try to grab it(looks like the right hand is teasing the left hand). The camera then pulls back and you can see that there's a girl in a hammock swinging back and forth on the left and a guy doing the same on the right. She finally grabs the bottle; he was trying to hand it to her. Seeing the hammocks so made me want to be on one of those beaches in the Caribbean and chillin out. :goodvibes

I was flipping channels late last night and ended up on The Learning Channel. I had heard the show "Big World, Little People" advertised before... but had never caught an episode.

It was always interesting to me because my during my first year of college, on of my roomies was a little person.

So.... I had nothing else to watch and then BOOM... the Mom, Amy, on the show appears and I almost choked! I think it IS my roomie from college! :goodvibes I listened intently to see if there were any references to Michigan.... where she went to school, etc... but none.

So... I went on to the web, found their home website and emailed her and it IS her!! :yay: Wow, we haven't spoken in over 20 years and there she was on TV and now in my email box!! How cool is that?

That time thing for dinners determines your dining rotation. I just know I have early dining, I don't care about the rotation. I know alot of people do but not me......just as long as a I have a table and a chair don't care.... :rotfl:

Oh BTW, the drink I want in St Thomas is a BUSHWACKER....not sure why I couldnt' remember that..... :rolleyes1

I tried to book a car rental today, apparently you can book into October 07 yet....what is wrong with these people don't they know there are obsessive planners out there :p OK rant over.....

Hope everyone is having a great day......soon it will be only 1 year away :dance3: :faint:

Haven't posted in awhile, been busy just like everyone else now that the kiddies are back in school and sports and piano and scouts and our school's festival.... wow!

Anyhow I see we got a big crew going now! Can't wait to meet everyone.

It's fun to see how many DISers are out there. When I was in Disneyland in August I put lime green mickey mouse ears stickers on my backpack. Every once in awhile someone would comment that I must be is DISer. It sure is a small world but a big discussion forum!

I didn't either. I guess they just don't want everyone showing up at exactly the same time. Does it really matter which one I pick though?

I had requested the late sitting but my TA changed it to early. She said that if you eat too late you may miss some of the shows and parties. I just left it at early. I figured once on board, it would be easier to change it to late from early than the other way around. The only thing I didn't like about early was feeling rushed to get back to the ship to eat. Then I came to my senses and realized that we don't HAVE to eat in the dining room if we don't want to! What a realization! Made my life easier!

I'm wondering if those are the times she gave you if all the early seatings are booked or she figured since you are an adult minus children you'd want that seating. I guess to answer your question, I'd pick the earliest late seating if you want the late seating. That sounded kinda like Captain Jack Sparrow talking! pirate: It also could be that it's so stinking early here!

Don't forget about us! Anywho-been a long week at work for the 2 of us, and we're enjoying a weekend off at home. Part of our Friday unwinding was reading up on this thread. Thanks to all for such warm greetings. While we wait for the next batch of laundry to come out of the dryer, we thought we'd share a little about us. :laundy:
We'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary, on our 2nd ever cruise (both with DCL). Being early to bed, early to rise types, we've got main dining. We like to get up early and walk around the ship and hit the fitness center before the sun comes up. That way we've got lots of room for the buffet breakfast. :woohoo: Last summer we learned to kayak, so we might book a shore excursion involving that. When on vacation and not at WDW, we often head to the Finger Lakes of Upstate NY. Our next trip to WDW is late this October. Our first Contemporary stay. Just got our first-ever digital camera. My assignment from DW is to figure out how to use it before we leave in a few weeks.
Time to tackle the sock monster.

I'm trying to find out which one is closer to MK since that will be the only park we go to. We are coming in late Thursday night and planning on going to MK for the day and coming back to room for rest and change for MNSSHP. So as you can see we won't be in the room very long. I was thinking of WL but almost spit Dr Pepper out of my nose when I saw the price. I'm all for paying a little more for convienence, but good grief! So, any and all input will be appreciated! pirate:

I just figured by staying before the cruise we'd get to do the MNSSHP and still be relaxed after the cruise. I like to end with relaxation, not standing in lines. Since we are driving, it works out better for us. We'll get off the boat and head home and take our time. May even spend the night somewhere along the way. We are hoping to go to MNSSHP on the Thursday night if there is one. Looking at this years dates there should be.

Hey Kim2!! This year's schedule does show the Thursday and Friday night before as back to back parties! I think we may be in luck!

I hope so we really prefer the Thursday night. I think it might be less busy then the Friday night one. Plus on the Friday night we just wanna chill before we get on board.

I just want to go to MK on Friday. DS doesn't even know we are going so if they don't have the party on that Friday night, we'll still be OK. I'm so excited right now, I can't imagine what it's going to be like when we are starting Oct of 2007! pirate:

Oh, by the way, I've started exercising! :Pinkbounc :yay: They need a smiley with a headband and some jogging shoes! LOL!

Hi Paula, I am sure they will have one on the Friday night. We haven't decided if we are staying at the port or another night at disney Friday night. Still waiting for car rental companies to open up the Oct 07 dates. I like having a car, I am not a fan of disney transportation. We might get town car service to the port if we decide to stay at Disney Friday night....

I am just as excited about next years cruise as this years....can't wait

Best part is I just convinced DH that even though we aren't cruising out of Port Canaveral I can't go all the way to Florida and not go to Disney. So since we are arriving 2 nights prior we will go to DTD, not quite the same as going to the parks but I will get my fix in.....can't wait.

Have fun Kim!! I LOVE DTD!! I could spend a whole day wandering around the stores in there!

Noah's birthday is next Thursday. I can't wait! I bought him a guitar and a tamagachi (sp). His birthday party turned into Disney on Ice next Saturday.

Life is good for us. I have a company coming in tonight to measure and give me a quote for window treatments for the new windows. I'm sure it will be too expensive but at 50% off I thought it might be slightly affordable. We'll see.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Which is Kim1 and which is Kim2? LOL!

I hope you have fun at DTD. I've only been there once when we took the boat from POFQ to eat one night. I was overwhelmed so I don't remember much. Just eating at Earl of Sandwich and watching exMIL and DS ride the merry go round. I get violently ill on those things! Funny b/c I had to ride Expedition Everest alone and they got on the merry go round and I couldn't! I would've blown Earl everywhere :lmao: .

Kim, good luck with the windows. It's always nice to get some new things for the house! Maybe I'll see ya in chat again one night this weekend!

Have a good weekend! pirate:

The window treatment guy just left... I took off the massive big picture window in my living room (I'll do curtains on that window since it's so big it would take three sets of blinds!!) and it's only $850. I didn't think that was too bad for the faux wood blinds for 7 windows.

Now I have to paint the trim on the windows THIS weekend for installation next week! Yee ha!! :woohoo:

BTW - I'm Kim1 :teeth:

Good Grief! I get my vinyl blinds at Target b/c my dogs tend to push them up with their noses to see who's outside! I never knew blinds could cost so much! :) If that's a good deal for you I'm glad you found it! :Pinkbounc

Just sipping on my Vanilla coffee type drink from a packet before we get ready to go to the football game. My friends who are real coffee drinkers say it's just hot chocolate with more caffiene! That's the only way I can drink coffee is if it has flavored creamer in it. :surfweb: Hmm, wonder if they'll have something like this on the cruise in a YEAR.

I hope I'm just as excited about going next year as I am this year! :rotfl2:

Where oh where has everyone else gone?

It is soooo evident when you walk in my house that there is no man around... it's a girly girl house for sure!!!

I did call the national company and asked if a salesperson can call the next morning and change the price. The person on the phone looked up my order and told me that he had input it in their system to start the order this morning for my $849 and that it will be honored at that price.

I hope she is right but there are no managers available until Monday to confirm 100%. She was very nice and said that salespeople have to honor their quotes once it's in writing and a deposit is made! :goodvibes

Thanks for the good laugh though!! I LOVED your suggestion!

Kimmie I have got to ask you what size blinds these are. The prices just seem so high? I think the faux wood blinds 72X64 run around $80 over at Lowe's. That's what I put up in my place (smaller size though).

I didn't measure them... but I think I remember seeing his measurements... there are 5 windows the same size 34 wide by 55 long, one that is 28 wide by 50 long and one very big window in my dining room that is 50 wide by 58 long. Roughly...

The price was to have them professionally installed and they come with a lifetime guarantee. Since I'm not all that handy in the home improvement dept. and I want them to look good - I usually hire out my projects. If it's just a small project, my Brother does it, but this is 7 windows... a lot of work. I priced the blinds separately and it was around $575 or so... the rest would be labor for installation. I didn't think that was too bad? :confused3

But... for $1612... that's almost $1000 for installation. :furious:

Hi Everyone, I lurk and will post once again once this year's cruise is over.

The December double dip has over 180 people from the DIS and family members sailing. It has been crazy keeping up on that thread, let alone posting here. They are now at over 2200 pages and adding over 50 pages a day, it is a part-time job in itself. :surfweb:

Since I feel kind of out of it here, it is hard to post and make sense, sorry. I will come back soon, but will keep reading!

I think i'll start a list of things to do before we cruise....

Earn the cash to pay for the trip (selling my body is out for starters the last time i tried that they asked "did i have change for a dollar")
Start doing the bench presses (you'll understand when you see wife's and DD cases,i swear that's the only reason why they invite me along in the first place)
Order a tanker to bring the fake tan (am just a shade whiter than mike bottle white, thats me)

This is a tough one.... however.... especially since it's an out of town... no, wait, make that out of COUNTRY wedding, I don't think I'd feel obligated to go when it would have an effect on your pending Disney dream trip!!

However, IF you can afford to go and make it a short short trip it might be worth it to not offend your most loved and trusted friend.

Why doesn't anyone getting married at home anymore? I'm one to talk... if I ever meet my Disney Prince... I'm sure I'll want a Disney wedding :rotfl2:

Hope everyone is doing good today! We are off to the Mississippi State game. Probably going to get beat, but it's ony and hour and half away and it's sunny and 75! Perfect football weather!

Kinda groggy this morning as I was kept up late :smooth: last night, but it was fun.

Kimmielee, we missed you in chat!

English Gent, if no one can get the DVD to ya, I'll try myself. You'll have a mailbox full! You can pass them out to the chick that's getting married and her future hubby and maybe you can change their minds about the wedding!

Have a great Saturday everyone! pirate:

I also am 1/8th Cherokee so scars never heal properly... it looks like I had surgery yesterday!!

In anticipation of the 1 year mark, I've broken out a packet of Daisy Duck Shampoo and Conditioner from last October's cruise. Mmmm, cruise smells.
RE: planning: our 2005 Passporter has been marked with S & C's next to the shore excursions we're interested in.
RE: swimwear: Christine has added Pilates and weight training to her aerobics. I go to the gym weekdays at 0600 and weekends at 0800. But, based upon my current state, perhaps I should ask for my dues money back. :rotfl:

Good morning everyone,

Busy weekend for me and going to be busier next weekend before I go away.

I can't wait to be spending all my surfing time here, some of those other websites people can get so nasty :confused3 .

I have to go back and catch up on the posts just wanted to stop by and say hi so you wouldn't forget me.

Gent, I haven't found my DVD but I know I have it, but when the one comes in that I ordered I will forward it off to ya.

Paula are you one of the girls in the photo? Sorry if you already posted that I have to go back and catch up.

Have a great day all.

Gent,
1. Flight time roughtly 2 hr 45 mins

2. Roughtly from $400.00 - $600.00 CAD return

3. We are flying back to Buffalo and driving back to TO instead. Saves us about 50% in flight costs and we get to shop in the US before heading home.
$150 - $260 return CAD. We can arrive at the airport in Buffalo an hour later then in Toronto, and it takes us about 1 hr 40 minutes to drive to BUF.

Lots to see and do here, it will be fashion week, if you come to visit. Things to check out CN Tower, The Toronto Zoo, Royal Ontario Museum, A harbour tour, etc. A movie at the Cinasphere (think Space Ship Earth).

Paula, I'll take your rain... if it comes with warm temps... we are experiencing a very cold fall here in Michigan... BRRRR!

I can't believe how often this cruise is on my mind. I am hoping to pay it off in Feb and only have to save for spending $$$.

What's everyone doing for Halloween? Any parties planned? :confused3

It was 85 here this week! I LOVE the temp, not the dang rain. Although some flowers I thought died are blooming again!

I know what you mean about the cruise. I went to try on costumes for a party saturday night and tried on a pirate wenc(heh) one. It was too big. I was mad, but then decided to chill and go after halloween and get the really expensive one when it goes on sale!

I'm looking at working some overtime soon so i can go ahead and book the WL while there are still rooms available. I just don't want them to book up and me not be able to afford it. Budget shopper here. pirate:

I told DW, "if you look outside this morning, doesn't it look like Disney". She said, "yes". We had rain overnight, giving everything that freshly-washed look. The temps are in the low 60's, with high humidity. Perhaps a good morning to walk over to the BW and get breakfast. Looking to the sky, the clouds are parting and moving away, as though they're only allowed to visit overnight. A hint of blue-pink to the sky. :cloud9: So quiet. So peaceful. Seems like nobody else is up yet. Oh, look to the West, what is that!? The earth moving equipment clearing the former corn field so that more houses can be built on the hill behind us. :confused3 Now, back to work...

Ok, first let me say I'm disappointed in the weather here. Earlier this week it was in the 80's in the day and 60's in the night, perfect in my book. I go out to get the paper in shorts, t-shirt and barefoot this morning and it's in the freaking 40's! Is this some kind of cruel joke? I have to go to a halloween party as little red riding hood tonight, short skirt, hose and all. I'm going to have to put a flask in my basket!

As some of you know I've started my job back in the inner city ER here. I've been seeing some things I forgot happened around town. I used to work here but I left just after I had Ethan because I couldn't do the 12 hour shifts. Now I'm the nurse educator so I can pretty much make my own schedule. Anyway, I've seen how violent ppl can be and it's made me want to spend some more time with my son. That's why I've been on here less lately. I won't go into details as I don't want to depress y'all, but just hug your loved ones a little closer today!

Did y'all have any idea that in 1 year we'll be packing, waxing, plucking and losing sleep! I hope I can keep it a secret from Ethan that long! It's going to be hard but as long as I can come here to chat I'll have a better chance!

Hope y'all have a great weekend~ pirate:

Yes, Kim, there will be some primping going on before the cruise! Who wants their pic with Captain Jack Sparrow with unruly brows? :teeth: And just in case someone does the Rassul mud thing, you have to have a neat bikini line also! Have you ever gotten in salt water with a newly shaved bikini line :scared1: ? I know, TMI, but I'm on a roll this morning!

Hey Paula (or anyone else with younger kids) have you tried the chewable Augmentin? Noah just had his first dose and had to chase it down with Cheetos! :rotfl2:
