Well then, I guess you get to book the reservation at Palo for all of us!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

I can't wait either. I keep looking thru the excusion choices and surfing for more ...
a get a bit of Disney next month on our trip to DL. Can't wait for that either!

Kim1 did some investigating and I think she said you can book for 2 people. I am not sure how we all get linked up so that we can all be together. Hopefully in the next 15 months we get that figured out :lmao: If I recall we can get the private room Palo has if there is I think 12 of us, which I think there will be at least 12 for sure.

I just really want to make sure I get Parasailing....that was cancelled on us last time.

OK, so I'm about to put down my down payment. I'm going to have to go with an inside room. I think it's gonna be on deck 7. Is that a bad area? I've only been in an oceanview room but since this trip is more $ I'm going inside :smooth: . I'm also going to stay at POP or All Star Movie resort for the night before. Have any of you done these resorts? If so, do you have a favorite? I've only stayed at POFQ and loved it. How do they compare?

Paula - we LOVE POFQ too and when we went on our dream vacation this past April - DS wanted to stay at AS Movies because he saw the huge Buzz and Woody. For one night, you'll be fine. For multiple nights, I'm a POFQ girl all the way. The differences are too many list.

For a treat this time we are staying at the Poly for the night AFTER just to be close to MK and to experience their great pool/views at night, etc...

We are coming in the night before and staying at the Hyatt at the airport and taking the early shuttle to the Port from there.

For you to stay at AS Movies or Pop, you will have to figure out which hotel the DCL buses pick up at and get you and your luggage there to catch it!

Hey! I think I'm going to go with POFQ since the cruise bus picks up there. I just can't imagine trying to lug all the bags around to the closest pick up resort. Do any of you know what time the bus runs there? I would get a town car service, but I'm trying to save money!

Hockeychic
07-12-2006, 07:10 PM
kim1 are you hooked yet. I have watched it every summer.....sometimes it drives me nuts but I keep watching.

I was thinking either rental car or town car to pick me up at whatever resort we stay at and take us to the port. We rented a car last time and it was really easy but if it is just myself and DD we might just get the town car or rent.....yikes....good thing I have 15 months to work this out :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: .

Kim

Kimmielee

I am trying the bus this time because of the ease of staying at the airport hotel, we'll be coming in on a later flight... and I usually get a town car but am thinking with 3 of us.... it might be fun to do the bus.

However, I think the bus is more expensive than the town car. Now I must go check.... :surfweb: Edited to add: Nope, Town Car is $210 and bus is $177. That's what.... 5 Pina Colada's? 5 Miami Vice's? 5 Rum Punches? :confused3 Not worth it this time! :rotfl2:

Kim2 - I am hooked. I have no idea who these people are so I'm probably at a disadvantage but I can't wait to see who gets booted. Should I go read the Spoiler thread? :rolleyes1

Hockeychic

The spoiler thread already has said who is getting booted....not sure how accurate it is.......but I hope it is wrong cause that is not who I want to get voted out.

My fav this year is Janelle, I didn't like her last year but I do this year, also James and Jase....any of those 3....as for the rest...just pick them off 1 by 1.....lol

Kim(s), I will check in with Lisa on my Dec 2006 cruise, about linking for dinning. We have over 55 poeple on the early and around 35 people on the late seating linked and we have a reservation request in for a Palo brunch in the private room for the Monday right now. She is a linking mastermind. It is crazy, it looks like we will have 4 servers and several more assistant servers just for the early linked D.I.S. cruisers alone. It seems we were also able to chose what rotation we are on, she asked for the 6 pm time and we will be on LAP.

I will learn from the master, and report back. I think we will need to start this part early in Feburary 2007.

Sounds good, it will be fun to be linked...I can't remember what seating everyone has but I am on early. Thanks Penny

It would be fun to link us... I'm late though.... willing to change if I need to!

Hockeychic
07-13-2006, 06:42 AM
We found last time that by having the late seating, he kids rushed dinner to get to there friends, DH had heartburn every night and all the seats at the "adult" only shows where full and we had to stand. It is one of the reasons I booked so far out so we would be guaranteed early. :goodvibes Plus we are on eastern time.....dinner at 8:30 almost killed me....I have dinner ready for me when I get home from work at 5:10....

If most of you have late dining that is OK, I can just hook up with you all after dinner...but I am sure we will have lots of both early and late. On my last disney cruise most of the people on the boards had late and got linked up.

I am early seating for dinner, did late twice and really didn't like eating that late, and it always seemed to take forever to finish. Never could get a seat at Rockin' D Bar. When we do a show at home we do dinner then the show, we like it that way.

I booked early for this years cruise and will see how I like it.

Hi all!! I'm getting ready to add our sitter to our cruise, I'll ask to switch to early - sounds like I'm about the only one with late? :confused3

It's still available, I think!

Tonight is grilled cheese and tomoto soup night.... what's on YOUR tables?

Hockeychic
07-13-2006, 06:22 PM
Hi Penny, yes you do have your photo in, I use to have that in mine as well...but is it gone :confused3

We just had hamburgers....we are in the middle of a heat wave so didn't really want anything.

That would be great if you could get early then if you like we can all link up.

Can't wait, I just booked my return flight for my cruise this October so it is getting closer...only I wish I was going on Disney this October. :rolleyes1

pjpoohbear
07-13-2006, 08:42 PM

Why was that guy so excited for the guy that got HOH? Can you tell I know the players really well? :lmao:

Hockeychic
07-13-2006, 08:51 PM
Penny I agree, the only reason I can handle going to work in the summer is airconditioning. We don't have it at home but we have a pool so that is nice right before bed.

Kim1, Kayser is part of the SS6 alliance so Howie, James and Janelle would be really happy for him.....I was only listening so I didn't see who was all excited

Trying to make some decision on my October 06 cruise....maybe you guys can help. I cruise on Sunday, so I have my choice of flying in late Friday night or late Sat night...arriving at 7:30 PM in Tampa...not sure which route to take.....I think waiting till the late Sat isn't giving us room over delays??
What do you think?? Then we can also fly into Orlando but then that adds the cost of a car rental.....and I will want to go do Disney....lol

Help I am so confused......

pjpoohbear
07-13-2006, 08:55 PM
KIM, head for Tampa, car rental rates are crazy this fall. Also head in Friday, that way if a storm is in the area you will have leeway to fly the next day. Got all that, lol.

Penny

Hockeychic
07-14-2006, 06:48 AM
that's kinda what we where thinking.....and it will be less rushed. We have DH's parents with us so we want to not have to rush around with them.

I wanted Alison to stay.....I don't like Dani, I didn't like her the first time around either. I think I am hoping for Janelle who I hated the first go around, Jase or James. I don't want someone who just rides coattails to win.

Well another hot, hot day here in Southern Ontario.....yikes.....Penny I can't remember you are in the Toronto area aren't you??? I am just North Of Newmarket......

I live in what use to be a small town just north of Newmarket right on Lake Simcoe so I am really hoping for some sort of breeze but there was none last night.

OK, so I decided to arrive Friday night for my upcoming cruise...arriving the night before at 7:30PM just seemed a little too rushed and with my in-laws I don't want to push them too much and wear them out before we even leave. :moped:

Well I am wasting time this afternoon, not in the mood to work anymore today but I am stuck here till 4:30.......

If you head over to Jackson Point, there is a streat named after my Uncle right on the lake, near the ice cream shop, DE GEER.

The movie theater has 4 count em......4 screens popcorn:: , we have McDonalds and Canadian Tire party: When was the last tme you where up my way. We should plan a pre cruise party....hopefully we get a few more Southern Ontarians onboard.

Hey y'all! I think I'm going to stay with late dinner. Last time I felt rushed to get ready for dinner. I like to stay in port for most of the time allowed. I don't know, have to check itenerary again :confused3 .

Hope y'all have a good weekend! We are heading to New Orleans tomorrow. DS decided he didn't want to do karate tournament and since he's only 6 I don't want to force the issue. I've learned to pick my battles carefully! Now I get to go to LUSH and shop! If you haven't heard of it, it's a girlie store with great bath products. Go to LUSH.com and check them out! I think there is a store in Toronto, so you may be familiar with them!

About posting pics, I can't add attachments yet so I don't know what to do! If anyone has suggestions, feel free to give them to me!

Vital, Lush is at Scarborough Town Centre, 5 mins away from me! It smells great in there reminds me of Basin at DTD. Is it cheaper? And do they have a mask for dry skin, lol?

Kim, last time we were up that way was in 2003 when we sold the trailer to pay down the mortage and buy into DVC. Traded the vacation spot that came with chores for the one that need a flight to get to, lol.

Hey Kim2 and Penny - I'm recognizing some of the towns you are speaking of... My FAVORITE town is Toronto and I normally take the train there and I love going through the small towns. I live on the other side of the bridge about an hour's drive :moped: north of Detroit. I've been to Windsor a couple of times for the Casino (much nicer, IMHO than the ones in Detroit) and once, in my MUCH younger days, we went to Danny's -

Or... am I recognizing the towns because we cut through Canada via Port Huron and come out at Niagra on the states side? :confused3 My Dad's wife is from a small town in NY about an hour from Niagra Falls.

This was a really busy week at work (as you can tell by the lack of posts), a new underwriter started, the one one I hired before her, I fired... and I found out that I have to go back to the Dr. on Monday morning and the procedure has to be repeated... :furious:

Paula - I'm still late seating and I was thinking of switching, but my sitter works until 6:30 each night and never eats before 7:30 - 8:00 so I think I'm staying with late. Our son's are the same age... maybe we could link together!

Vital, I am going to Lush this week, checked out the website and the prices are not so bad, and the scents are way better Than Body Shop (way to smelly.)

OK, panic setting in!

I'm a single mom and have to save all year for our yearly vacation. I'm having some thoughts on booking this cruise! I'm going to number my thoughts so it'll be easier for y'all to reply to them. I'm sort of a second-guesser so I need some help from you gals (and guys if I've missed any)!

1. Is it really worth the extra money? I keep seeing other cruises for almost
half the price of this one. I know we'll love it once there, but would it be
as good on another ship?

2. If I did do another cruise at this time of year, would there be any kids on
that boat? I know Disney will be packed with kids year round, but what
about the others?

3. Should I do the extra day before or after the cruise? I know I've already
asked this but since I'm about to put down deposit, I'm having second
thoughts. Told you I worry!

4. Will I like an inside cabin? I've cruised 4 times and have had ocean view so
I could see out in the morning. I guess I'm spoiled.

5. Should I book for July instead? I really want to do Halloween b/c it's my fav
time of year and hurricane season will almost be over.

6. Will my big a## be ready for a bathing suit by then? OK, this one is for fun,
but can't you tell I'm a worrywart!

7. Should I do the land/sea package to be at WDW for the Halloween party? I
love to cruise and I don't know if 3 nights would be long enough for me. DS
will be 8 then and I'm afraid he'll want to try the thrillers again and one day
at MK won't be enough.

8. Should I buy a park hopper pass for the one day we're there if I don't do
the land/sea and try to cram as much in as possible? DS just wants to do
POTC ride for now.

9. Am I freaking out b/c I don't have anything else planned right now? This is
the only thing I have to focus on at the moment.

I think I already know all the answers but I like to get reassurance from others! Being a single mom, I like for our vacations to go as trouble free as possible so we can have good memories!

I'm really a fun person and once my mind is made up I'm layed back and take things as they come. I just need to get all the worrying out and put my deposit down. I don't know if you can rearrange ressies once deposit is made so it'll be my final decision!

07-16-2006, 07:56 AM
Good morning everyone.

Yupper I cruised last October....it was hot hot hot. Weather was absolutly beautiful.

I can give you my opinion on some of your answers.

1) I think with a 8 year old, if they like disney it is definatley worth the money. We cruised Carnival just DH and I a few months after we did disney and couldn't stop comparing the little things that disney did that made it so special. But again, if you aren't a disney fan it probably isn't worth it.

2) There was tons of kids on our Oct cruise last year. I am cruising on Carnival this year in Oct so I can let you know if there is alot of kids. We only picked Carnival as this is the week my kids get a 1 week school break and Disney was doing East and we wanted West.

3) DD and I are probably staying at Disney the night before and either renting a car to get to port or getting a town car. But we will not hit the parks just probably DTD. I found last year we had 3 days at disney parks before the cruise and we kind wished them away to get on the ship.

4) On disney I had a inside, Carnival I had oceanview and this Oct I have a balcony. Next March I have a inside and this Disney cruise I have a inside. I had no problem with a inside, I felt safer not having to worry about the kids playing on the balcony...even though mine are much older...16 and 13 then. There is so many activities we only where in our room to eat, shower and change. Disney has a channel on the TV that shows you outside so you can check weather, if we are in port etc.

5) July will be much more expensive and you have more of a risk (I think) of hurricanes, although last year we cruised a few days after wilma, hurricanes are usually done by the end of October.....plus none of us are on that cruise....so you will miss having foo foo drinks and Palo with us :grouphug:

6) I am hoping to lose 30 more pounds by this Oct, I haved lost 30 so far but still a ways to go....but that would be the least of my worries. :goodvibes

7) We are considering the Halloween party on the Friday night. We did it last year and it was great....never waited for a ride but we did a Tues night I think. Friday will be busier but it was still alot of fun. I have done a 7 and 5 nighter and even the 5 nighter wasn't enough....7 is perfect.

8) If you go to the Halloween party you can do POTC...park hopper for 1 day might be a bit nerve racking.....just my opinion

I don't think I missed anything........

I think you should go ahead and book.....so you get your preferred cabin and dining time. You have until July or August to cancell without penalty so I say GO FOR IT.

You will love it!!! And so will DS. The only time I could force my kids to hang with us with at dinner and they where always trying to take off before dinner. Except lobster night...I ended up leaving before DH and DS.... :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Yes, I think it is worth the extra money or I would be taking Noah on another cruise line. It's the extra special Disney touches. The fact that the characters make appearances in the clubs and they have an amazing graduation ceremony that they get to be on the stage with Mickey and pals at the end. As Noah grows older or if he loses interest in the clubs then I'm off to another cruise line because of cost.

I'm a single Mom too... with no child support to be seen, ever... and I save hard to play hard and take amazing vacations. I think we'll cruise at least a few more times before Noah is over the Disney touches and then we'll switch to RCCL.

2. If I did do another cruise at this time of year, would there be any kids on
that boat? I know Disney will be packed with kids year round, but what
about the others?

I haven't sailed this time of year, so this one is hard for me to answer.

3. Should I do the extra day before or after the cruise? I know I've already
asked this but since I'm about to put down deposit, I'm having second
thoughts. Told you I worry!

Due to flying in on Friday evening before our cruise, I put the extra day at the end so we could go to MK on Saturday evening AND Noah will still only miss 5 days of school and I take only 5 vacation days. If I put the extra day first, that increases to 6 for each of us.

4. Will I like an inside cabin? I've cruised 4 times and have had ocean view so
I could see out in the morning. I guess I'm spoiled.

I can't answer an inside cabin either... I am super spoiled and must travel with a verandah... however, if I couldn't swing the extra money and it meant being able to cruise or not, I'd take an inside cabin because you spend so very little time in your room!

5. Should I book for July instead? I really want to do Halloween b/c it's my fav
time of year and hurricane season will almost be over.

I, personally, wouldn't cruise from June to mid Oct. due to how hot it is and how worried I am about hurricanes. With that said, plenty of others do but I think another thing you will find is the prices are more expensive in the summer due to kids being out of school. It's one of the motivators for me to cruise over Halloween. It's also our favorite time of year, the weather has been gorgeous for us in FL when visiting WDW two years in a row in mid to late October in '03 and '04 but I cancelled our '05 WDW trip to be able to afford the April '06 Spring Break prices. Hurricane Wilma (I think it was her) would have been there had I kept our original WDW world plans.

The Captain will divert the ship based on weather, if need be. I'm not concerned that a hurricane will be a worry in late October! There is a first for everything, but I'd rather be on a ship that can be diverted than stuck in WDW in a hotel room!

6. Will my big a## be ready for a bathing suit by then? OK, this one is for fun,
but can't you tell I'm a worrywart!

You are a funny woman. Let me tell you... I am not a thin barbie doll, not by any means. I am overweight, wear a size that starts with a 2 and doesn't end there!!! :lmao: I never felt out of place, judged or concerned that I didn't fit in. I hope to lose weight too, but if I don't... I am what I am and I'm still me... princess: In the "Devil wears Prada" there is a comment that a 4 is the new 2 and a 2 is the new 0. The actress Anne Hathaway says "I'm a 6" and he tells her that's the new 14. I thought to myself... oh my, what does that make me now? :rotfl2:

7. Should I do the land/sea package to be at WDW for the Halloween party? I
love to cruise and I don't know if 3 nights would be long enough for me. DS
will be 8 then and I'm afraid he'll want to try the thrillers again and one day
at MK won't be enough.

This is a tough one. We've been to WDW three time in the past 4 years so we've had lots of time for rides, etc... IF you haven't visited in a while and your son loves the rides, I might consider the Land/Sea but would do it the other way around and do 4 nights on the cruise, 3 at WDW. I'd also review prices for the Land/Sea as stated on the web site and then try to put a package together, yourself, separately. Depending on your cabin choice and the resort choice, you may be able to put a package together that is less expensive. For example, I don't think the values are put with cruise packages. I could be wrong though... check it out!

My problem with the Land/Sea combo is that I'd want to take the Land portion AFTER (due to the timing of the 4 night cruise being Sunday to Thursday) because of the positioning of the time off for Noah and myself. Keeping it in ONE week vs. spreading it out into two work weeks. That's me though... some love to travel on week days and I hear airfare is cheaper! Also, many others will tell you do the land first because the cruise is sooo relaxing. So, if traveling Thursday to Thursday works for you.... then land first/cruise after would be great!

I'd suggest the 4 night simply because of the extra day at sea to explore the ship and enjoy the weather.

8. Should I buy a park hopper pass for the one day we're there if I don't do
the land/sea and try to cram as much in as possible? DS just wants to do
POTC ride for now.

I'm buying a straight ticket and only doing MK. By the time we are at the Poly, checked in and ready to head to the park, I think there will only be time to do one park. It's another reason we are staying at the Poly to be close to MK and be able to stay until the park closes and have a quick trip back to the hotel!

9. Am I freaking out b/c I don't have anything else planned right now? This is
the only thing I have to focus on at the moment.

This, my dear, only you can answer... what about a "mini trip" this fall or early spring next year to break up the wait?

I think I already know all the answers but I like to get reassurance from others! Being a single mom, I like for our vacations to go as trouble free as possible so we can have good memories!

I'm really a fun person and once my mind is made up I'm layed back and take things as they come. I just need to get all the worrying out and put my deposit down. I don't know if you can rearrange ressies once deposit is made so it'll be my final decision!

I had huge doubts with my first cruise. It started out as the 7 night EASTER (April 15, 2006) cruise that was outrageously expensive. Almost $6K for Noah and I. Then I panicked and changed to a 7 night the next week.... still quite expensive and then lowered it to a 4 night. It was because Spring Break pricing from March to April was very high priced... I should have switched to this Halloween instead. So... I ended up with a 12 day dream vacation and spent over $6k anyway by the time I paid hotel, park tickets and dining. Keep in mind that the cruise includes your food and that is one of the most expensive parts of WDW. I wish I had stuck with my original plan since I ended up spending so much anyway!

I hope these answers help you and don't think twice about asking questions! I found the cruise to be the best single mom's vacation out there because we do get some "alone time" to do adult things. I LOVED it and can't wait! :cloud9:

Congrats on the weight loss.... I can only hope for such good results! How are you doing it?

Not sure what I am doing today......I have a spare bedroom that I have been throwing things in for my vacation and it is a mess so I might get in there and straighten it out and see what I still need to buy....

Or I might chill by the pool :thumbsup2 Oh ya and have to go grocery shopping, kids are whining there is no food in the house....which what that means is nothing I can just throw in my mouth...they actually have to cook....lol

I am not doing anything special to lose weight. I have tried every fad diet under the sun and recently I was told i have high cholesteral and to get that down without going on pills I have to eat better and excercise and that is what I have done. Sounds so simpe eh?? :lmao: I am not perfect all the time but even if I want McDonalds, instead of the Big Mac combo I get a happy meal...just little changes but I go for long walks.

Hey Kim2 - is there a lot of the cruises on your Halloween 2006 cruise going on this one? I was lurking over there to see what t-shirt designs they came up with... and saw a couple of our cruisers doing the 2006 one too! Unless... they posted on the wrong year? :rolleyes1

I cruised on the Oct 2005 one. I am going on Carnival for Oct 06. Disney was going Eastern and we wanted Western. No one that I cruised with in 05 is on the 07 one that I know of. The people I cruised with in 05 where great to chat with, we spent time on board with some people but not alot, because it was our first cruise we spent alot of time checking things out.

I know one of the girls my DD met on the 05 cruise is on the 06 one but DD met her on the ship she didn't subscribe to Dis.

I will pop over and check it out.

Thanks for your input. I'm going to book the cruise with y'all! I think I'm going to do WDW before the cruise. I like to have a day to get reacclimated to the real world before going back to work. I'm a nurse and have to listen to ppl complain all day so the day between vacation and work helps me out a lot! LOL :lmao: .

I know we are going to have fun! :cheer2: I just have little freakouts before booking things. Spending a lot of money does that to me. Yeah Paula!!! I'm the same way.... and I'm in the middle of the new car decision process as well. OH MY - everyone is about ready to kill me too! I was deciding between a Saturn Vue and a VW Beetle Convertible... 'till I found out that there is only 5 cubic feet of trunk space in the Beetle... then I thought I had decided on the Vue and I picked up a consumer report that highly recommends the Jeep Liberty... Ok, after K won HOH, the house was real quite. All kind of shock by the BB6 celebration, they are still telling others that there is no BB6 alliance, yeah right!

Then there was a Food comp, and the new Pb&J is "slop" oatmeal maybe(?). There were two team of 6, two troughs of slop with plastic rats and they were tied in pairs, think barnyarn motif. They each had to retieve a rat with their mouths and bring it back, each pair took two turns. 1st team to twelve won. Nik, during her first turn brought back her own bandana, which had fallen into the slop instead of a rat. This caused BB6 w/ Nik and Danielle to lose and they will be on slop for the week, lol.

Chilltown made a pact with K to put up floaters next week if they win HOH, if K put up floaters this week, he bought it (it is the glass house HOH, all over again.) So the nominees are Diane and Nik. That was the end.

Ps. I really wasn't pay that much attention, really.

Put deposit down today! WOOOOHOOOO :cool1: !

I have to admit I freaked when I heard of the Crown Princess listing and imagined if DS and I were on that ship. Then I came back to my senses and remembered that I'm more likely to die driving to work than that happening to us. Anyway, I'm a RN so if anything like that happened I'd be "in the nurse zone" and wouldn't think about it while it was happening. Good Morning everyone! I've been super busy at work and after logging on to here two nights in a row with good intentions to post, I'd get interrupted and walked away while still logged in! :badpc:

anywho....

Kim2 how was DD's b-day party? Did everyone survive? How's your leg feeling now?

Paula - I LOVE that you are trying to keep this a secret. My first cruise was based on the fact that I went on a cruise without him and kept running into the Disney ships... vowed to myself that I'd take him. Then.... DCL sent HIM, not me, HIM a brochure within a week or so of my return and he came running up the driveway... He took it as a personal invitation from Mickey to sail with him! I booked that one with him standing next to me (it was a priceless moment) and then I rebooked on board and he was with me then too!

Perhaps SOMEDAY I'll throw a surprise in there. I'd keep the cruise a secret and make him think you are ONLY going to WDW. Then, the morning that you leave for the cruise.... when you are packing... tell him you are going to another hotel... so he doesn't get suspicious. Are you taking the DCL bus to the port? If so, then check eBay or have someone get you the DCL coloring book or the Captain Mickey plush doll... and wrap that up with a handmade invitation to go on the cruise.

Babs - a whole weekend off, good for you! I'm in major cleaning mode because it's less than 2 weeks and my Dad and his wife (my step mother) will be here and will be staying at my house for a few days. So... it's not just cleaning, but the scrub the floor molding with a toothbrush kind of cleaning that needs to be done. UUUUUGGGGHHHH!!

Penny, thanks for the updates on BB. I keep missing it. I sooo need tivo!

This time the results of my procedure are more painful and I guess it's just more irritated being the second time it was done. :sad2:

I did Ethan's room in sports after I changed it from his nursery. It's painted a football brown and has a sports border with sports bedding. I wish I hadn't put that border up, I could easily do pirates with the brown. Oh well. I just figured he wouldn't outgrow sports anytime soon!

What a good idea about the coloring book and invitation! I'll have to keep that in mind. We are only staying one night at POFQ for now due to cost  . I was hoping to stay at a value but the DCL doesn't pick up there and it'd be a pain in the rump to lug all the luggage to POFQ to be picked up. Maybe I'll win the 86million powerball tonight and not have to worry anymore! :woohoo: Hmm, I wonder if I could rent the entire boat for a DIS cruise if I won? pixiedust: Now THAT would be cool!

I'm off to shop for school supplies and have to clean this wreck of a house today. If y'all haven't tried those Mr Clean erasers to clean with, they do a good job. I clean my grout on my tile floor with them! All you do is add water and rinse everynow and then. Very easy.

Could someone explain to me the customs protocol in St Martin? I've been reading that it is horrible and begins at 0600! GASP! I like to get up early on cruises, but that is rediculous! I wonder if they'll give out complimentary bloody marys to calm everyone's nerves :teeth:

I've not heard about this, however... I have heard that Non U.S. Citizens do have to do things differently with customs, at times. Not sure why... :confused3

St. Thomas, and yeah I think it is like 6:30 am for most of us. The US citizens generally head to Walt Disney theatre and the rest of us to Rockin D bar. They do put out coffee, juice and pastries, lol.

Is it b/c we went to St Martin first and that is considered a foreign country and then we are going to St Thomas which is considered "american" and we have to re-enter? Does that mean on day of departure we don't have to go through customs or do we have to do it again in PC?
Shew, that's a lot of customizing! :teeth:

By the way, I have made my mind up about the doubloon sail/snorkel trip. When can we start booking excursions?

And what about the brunch? How do we go about doing that?

I read about a character breakfast! I was unaware of it until I read it last night. Is it free? Do you have a set day or do you have to schedule it also?

I know, a lot of questions, but it rained all day yesterday and I sat right here reading all I can about the cruise!

I think since i'm officially booked, I'm a "little" more excited~ :Pinkbounc

Hey everyone!!!!!!

Yup we cleared customs in Rockin Bar D after St Martin and then at the end of the cruise we cleared customs again in the Disney Theater but this is for NON US citizens.

Character Breaky is free.....you will get your assigned time and day when you get on the ship.

If you have cruised with DCL before you can book at 90 days out if this is your first it is 75 days out.and I suggest doing it as soon as the time and day opens up... which is 3:00AM EST...

Any other questions as away I think quite a few of us have cruised DCL before so should be able to answer your questions.

DD's party went very well....glad it is over for another year. :yay:

Off to watch the news.....have a great night all.

Kim2 and I will work on booking Palo for a Ladies Brunch (and anyone else that has cruised before)... we are hoping to have all of us Ladies enjoy a brunch together! :grouphug:

Well, I got MOST of my cleaning done. I left the floors for next weekend but did a lot of chucking of junk just sitting around... I love when I can purge the useless things from my house! :teeth:

Just checking in! I had to go back to about page 19 to read everything I missed. I see we dropped one cruiser and got another. Welcome Vital!

It's been so hot here that I haven't dared stayed inside long enough to check messages etc. on the pc, because the room my desk is in is very cozy during the winter but hot as H-E double toothpicks this past week. And I live right out side of San Francisco where as Mark Twain is quoted as saying (but apparently he didn't) "the coldest winter I ever spent was the July I spent in San Francisco!"

Anyhow, I keep googling and finding things to add to my piles of things to look at for this cruise. I sure wish it was 4 months away instead of 15! At least I can truly pay it off before I go!

I've got Disneyland to go to in 4 weeks. I'm looking forward to the POTC. It'll be my 3rd trip to a disney park in their 50 year celebration. I did DL last November, WDW in April and now DL again.

Take care everyone!

I'm on the list, but I'll give you some more. There's me, I'm 45 now and since you start counting backwards, I'll be 44 when we go on the cruise (LOL). My hubby is 46, my DD is 10 and will turn 12 on Halloween on the cruise. My son will be 10 by cruise time. We are celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary while on the cruise (it's actually on the 23rd, but close enough) and my DD's birthday. This will also be our first cruise! Don't know if I'll get to visit wdw :sad2: on this trip, since I'm already taking the kids out of school for at least 6 days having to come from the west coast on Friday just in case....

But I've got Disneyland in a few weeks! I'll probably do DL next summer too!

I got the cruise planning dvd in mail today and DS almost had a stroke when we were watching it. He was begging to go on the cruise. I'm still trying to keep it a secret! It's killing me, but I'm going to try dadgummit! The only thing is I've reserved a CAT 11 and he really wants a window. I'd like to have a window also. When is the last time you can change rooms? Is it worth it to spend the extra $$$ on a window? All of my other cruises have had windows and I'm getting a little anxious about not having one. Someone help me

Well you may have noticed my tickers...one is missing. I decided to cancell my March 07 cruise to Turks and Caicos. From what I understand it is still a new port and not alot there so decided not to go. We will probably do something else in Feb without the kids.... :woohoo:

Hockychic,

Hope you are feeling better and we will all cross our fingers for good news on the pathology report. :thumbsup2

And back to the cruise. I'm trying to get an idea of flights, etc., even though the airline computers don't go that far into the future. Delta stopped their red eye flight from SF to Orlando in May with no plans on restarting it. (even though it's 80 percent filled most of the time.) So that leaves the only non-stop from SFO a United that leaves at 2:00 p.m. and doesn't get intil 10:00 p.m. I'm looking for a non-stop or a direct that takes less that 8 hours of travel time. I see that Melbourne International is near Cape Canaveral. Has anyone flown in there?

Kim2 - oh so sorry to hear about your cancelling the Turks cruise... my friend that was going on the RCCL cruise is now chickening out due to the listing problem on the Princess Crown last week... so... we are thinking of an all inclusive instead in Turks or Fiji.... :sunny: Please come let us know when you get the pathology report too! I'll say a prayer for you to get good results.

Lori - I've only flown into Orlando. We are coming in the night before the cruise, staying at the airport (we'll be coming in late) and then taking a limo to the port the next morning.... or the bus... but my DS LOVES the limo's.

Well, I got word from my travel agent that the Cat 9 oceanview is sold out already and Cat 8's are 600$ more than what I'm paying now. I can't justify $600 for a window! Also, the Cat 11 that I booked is also sold out! Looking like we'll have a full ship! I think I'd rather spend that $600 on an extra night before cruise in WDW or a spa treatment! Call me crazy, but I just don't think it's worth it, do y'all? Remember I'm a single mom with house and car notes, not to mention medical bills, karate, after school care, etc.

Also, do they give massages to 8 year olds? I thought it'd be fun to get a half hour massage with DS. I like them so much, I just want to share! LOL! I'll probably just spend the money on myself, I think I deserve it!

In the car today, he asked if we could go to the lab. I didn't know what he was talking about and he said the lab on the Disney boat so I can make flubber! He's watched the cruise DVD a few times now LOL! Should I try to keep it secret up until we leave or should i tell him at Christmas. His birthday is Sept 1st. I also thought about telling him for his birthday next year. Not about both cruise and WDW, just one and still surprise him with the other. The girls at work don't think I'll last that long!

Once again, thanks for the ears and advice!

Vital -

Google to find a different TA. I got a "quote" from DCL and from DVC, then I googled and called. I got my Cat 6 for $800 less than what DCL website was asking and I even got a $300 on board credit. For the life of me right now (cause I'm away from home at Lake Tahoe for the weekend), I can't remember the TA I went thru, but I checked them thru the BBB and a couple other agencies and all appears to be legit. $300 on board credit brings a lot of mai tais!

I don't believe that you can switch from one TA to another TA. You have to cancel the reservation with your TA and start with a new one. Get quotes first! When you ask for a quote from DU, it will be via email only. I have a TA you can talk to live time if you'd like her info let me know!

When I was looking for this cruise I found that many of the TA had a "discounted" price about the same. When I called or e-mailed, some gave the price without the port charges/taxes others gave it with it. So you really had to have them break it down. The TA I went with was cruisevacationoutlet.com. Again, they had about the same price as many of the TA's but, they had the $300 shipboard credit. I called back a few to see if they could meet the price (since I liked talking to a couple of the people), unfortunately, they couldn't.

Kim, today we are at 103 F with humidex. YUCK! Sorry I haven't posted, but I have been reading. This years cruise has posted over 1500 posts in the last week alone, geez! Ask Vital, the group I am with this year is crazy, she had the chance to chat with them in Crusie Chat last friday night.

Regarding TA discounted pricing, this could be due to the TA buying a block of rooms as soon as the booking opening, so they get the best price. Those rooms are then locked at that price and even if DCL prices goes up, that block is still at the opening price. Called a GROUP BOOKING, mean at least 10 rooms, booked together. The only disadvantage is that individual cruiser are not normally eligable for any booking bonus, except onboard.

PJ's right, they are a rowdy bunch! Maybe she'll impress them and some will want to cruise with us next year! LOL!

Guess what!? Do ya give up? I just upgraded to a CAT 9 (WINDOW!) for only $326 more! That equals $27 more a month I have to save! I can deal with that. My TA was looking at the CAT 8's that were $600 more. She checked again and said they must've just released some CAT 9 rooms. Either way, I got a window! I'm on deck 2, right in the middle. I like the lower decks personally, it seems to have less movement there. I was a little concerned about being on deck 7. She said I also will get a rebate after the trip for around $50. I'll need that to help pay for the wine and martini tasting classes :smokin: .

Don't remind me that I could've spent the money on jewelry! LOL! I just like to be able to see what's happening outside. Who am I kidding, I love the view and am spoiled due to the fact that every other cruise I've been on has been an oceanview! I look out on the ocean at night and watch the waves in the moonlight.

So, do any of you have that one item that you must get this go-round? Last time I cruised on the eastern route, I had to have a Tanzanite ring. I got a beautiful Tanzanite and diamonds set in white gold that I bought by myself for myself. It felt really good to do that. This time I don't really have a must get item, yet. We still have a long way to go! I do like silver bracelets, so I might get one with semi-precious stones. It won't be too expensive then! I always get a few t-shirts. Since we are going to do the Doubloon sail/snorkel, I'm planning on getting some from them. I am making myself get some longsleeved ones. I always regret not getting one, but usually I cruise in July so it's too freaking hot to think about sleeves!

Anyway, I'll quit rambling and go do some laundry. Fun, I know. We are headed down to our coast this weekend to build a playground for a community that was destroyed by Katrina. I see there is another one coming, hopefully it won't hit here!

The top item that I must find is a tazanite ring. I bought one, also with diamonds in white gold from Marshall Fields for $400 and oh my gosh is it dull! Once I saw a true tazanite stone, I was shocked!

I want to find one that has true color!

Lots of t-shirts for Noah, of course. I love one we got on Castaway Cay that has Stitch on it and says "trouble in paradise". That's him, for sure!

I almost let it slip today about the WDW part of our trip. DS was asking if we could just drive to WDW and ride POTC. How funny is that! We are 12 hours away! I wish we could just do that one day! Went down to our coast yesterday and helped build a playground at an elementary school that was affected by the hurricane. Please spread the word that our coast is no where near normal. All you hear about is New Orleans but our coast took a DIRECT hit from this storm. I've lived here all my life and was disoriented at times on the beach because there is NOTHING standing in some places. DS and I were walking on the beach and came across plates, clothes, curtains, bathtubs and pieces of Christmas trees along the beach. The beach we were on has been "cleaned". It is just awful down there. I want to scream to the major news networks about ppl still living in tents beside FEMA trailers down there. No one seems to care. I get so angry reading about New Orleans and how bad they have it. I've been there and believe me, they had some damage, but nothing like our coast. I guess since our population didn't start looting and killing each other the media thinks they aren't newsworthy. It's sad that the news only picks up on stuff like that. I wish someone would do a documentary on the MS coast and let the world in the fact that it is destroyed and no matter what anyone says, will never be the same again.

OK, I'll get off my soapbox now. Just an emotional subject for me. I took tomorrow off since son starts 1st grade on Tues and didn't have day camp. We are going to go see a movie.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

That is my point exactly! The ppl on our coast are doing it themselves and not waiting for the government to do it for them and they aren't getting any coverage for it! I just want ppl to know that they are still in dire straits and busting their butts to rebuild the right way and on their own accord. There are still church groups and other organizations that come help and I honestly don't know where the coast would be without them! It just burns me up that the only press we seem to get in Mississippi is bad press. We are the fattest state, the poorest state, the dumbest state, racist state, etc, etc. BUT, when we do something good, we don't ever get credit for it. After hurricane Camille in 1969, the coast was brought to its knees. It was turned into a resort destination with the casino's and beaches. They had a great community down there along with the tourism. Talk about southern hospitality! Then Katrina comes and takes all of the material stuff away and guess what? The community is still there and they should get the recognition they deserve for being such great ppl without holding out their hands for government handouts! Sure, there are some that frauded the government, but they are from inland Mississippi and various other states. The ones on the coast needed the money to survive. I just wish someone would do a report on the coast now, a year later so ppl could see not much has changed.

OK, I promise I'm done on the subject unless anyone wants to ask. Sorry if I ruined your day. I know this is supposed to be a happy place we all escape to. Sorry about the rampage :guilty: .

Hi All  What a day. I LOVE seeing family and reminiscing but wow... is it exhausting!!

Vital - sorry to hear about how things are down there. My nephew was stationed in Mississippi at the naval base and it was in the direct path as well. He and his family were actually on leave here in Michigan, but they had an ocean front apartment and lost everything too. Sadly, that included my DS's baby furniture that we hand lended to them. Katrina's ugly hand reached all the way up here too! I know it's not right to mention the loss of furniture when so many lost their lives - just saying that the Katrina was felt in my family as well. We, were blessed, while so many others lost so much more! :sad2:

I see, as you state, reports on New Orleans, but little or nothing on the rest of the areas. My heart goes out to you and don't ever feel that you can't vent here. It's what we are for! :goodvibes

You are a good person and your feelings are very valid. Keep your chin up and I hope that things only get better! :grouphug:

Thanks for the kind words about my ranting! I'm off the subject for now and I feel much better!

I like the idea of the treat bags. We can do them for kids and adults as well! You can never be too old for trick or treating!

I also like the slogan for the cruise. I'm not creative at all when it comes to things like that!

I'm off work today. My DS starts 1st grade tomorrw so we are playing hooky and going to see Barnyard!

Hope y'all have a great Monday! Oh, before I forget, I was on cruisecritic and noticed some familiar names. Could that be anyone on here? LOL!

Ok, so maybe I'm jumping the gun, but I'm thinking about driving down for the cruise instead of flying. Not for fear of being blown up, just to skip the hassel at the airport. I know it's a long way until we cruise, but it's something I've thought about all day. I can drive it in 11 hours. DS travels great in the car. I just keep thinking how mad I would be if something like this happens right before our cruise and I'd already spent money on the plane tickets. I think I'd come out cheaper on gas by driving. I have a Maxima and get pretty good gas mileage on the interstate. We could leave that Thursday after school and drive most of the way and spend the night somewhere. Then we could get up early and go to WDW. I'd use disney bus at WDW so I'd park at the hotel. Then I could stop at the store on the way to the ship and get my beer :smooth: without having to worry about getting a cab or something. I just have to wait and see what happens in the next few months with gas prices and the security at the airports. Y'all should know by now that I'm a worry wart and pretty much have a boring life so I sit around and think about these things! LOL!

Do you ride your bike? I have a coworker that goes and they trailer theirs so their butts don't hurt so much. I can't imagine how bad your legs and butt would hurt after hours of riding! I don't know, the bikes these days look really comfortable, except the ones with the "monkey hangers". Those look like your arms would fall off after a few hours and make your back hurt.

I hope everyone is doing good today!

I have some catching up to do! It's been a rough week... Dad has left to go home and it was very hard to say goodbye this time. He seems to be shrinking away. He'll be 81 this year.

So... I'm cancelling Chicago next week and Noah and I will fly to KY for Thanksgiving. I've been pricing tickets. We flew down there one Christmas and it wasn't horribly expensive... about $400 for both, now it's $650!!

I may end up driving there, it's about a 9 hour drive but that takes away two of the four days for Thanksgiving Day weekend! :sad2:

We NEVER drive to Orlando. It would be about a 24 hour drive.... and we can fly in 2 1/2 hours.

Noah and I went to the Detroit Zoo today. Got some awesome pics with my new digital camera. I can't wait to take pics on our cruise! :woohoo: Is it time to go yet?

Yes, what kind of camera did you get? I have to get a new one and keep looking on Overstock.com. They have killer deals sometimes, although some are factory refurbished they seem to do just as good. We will arrive the Friday before and to the MNSSHP! If the airlines stay in this mess, we are driving down Thursday afternoon. It's about an 11 hour drive so I'm pretty sure we'll stop along the way and wake up and finish our journey early Friday morning! So far, I've been able to keep it under wraps. Hope I can make it! Welcome Chris and family.
Might want to mention to Hazel and Jess that we are doing a ladies Palo brunch. Hope they can join us.

Not much new in my life. I can't wait until all the planing for my Oct 06 cruise is done and I can stay away from some of the other cruise boards...they can be soooo nasty. Just asked a simple tipping question and I have so far been told I am difficult and only doing it for my own selfish gratification. :confused3

Here was the jest of my post. Just mentioned that on Disney I like giving the cash at the end for the tip cause I feel I can really thank them for the service they have given me. On my last cruise in Feb on another cruise line the tip was already on my card, and I never saw my room steward the entire time on the cruise. Now not complaining really about that the room was always clean and made up but I would have liked to thank him or her for helping make my vacation qreat.

So what I was thinking of doing was either putting 1/2 on my card...apparently they get a printout of those who take off there tips. So leave 1/2 on the card and explain the first night that I will give the rest in cash on the last night or last morning. Or just give cash for the entire thing at the end of the cruise. Wasn't sure exactly what I was going to do but just getting some ideas which is what I thought these type of boards are all about but WOW.....

Like I said apparently I am difficult and selfish???? Can't wait to only be hanging out here.. everyone is so friendly..... :grouphug:

OK vent it over so glad it is Friday.

Wow... this week flew. New computer is here and operational! I am so excited to have the ability to do more than one thing at a time and not FREEZE :crazy2: up!

This was "supposed" to be my Chicago weekend, but I think I told you all I cancelled and traded in the ticket for one to go see my Dad over Thanksgiving. Our family is very sad this week as my cousin's son took his own life over a horrible divorce. I can't imagine the grief that would drive someone to that - or the immediate family thinking about the what if's? It's horribly sad and my prayers are in KY with them all.

Noah is with my niece and her hubby this weekend so I'm FREE FREE FREE and what did I do today? I took myself to my favorite restaurant for lunch and slept the afternoon away. How sad is that?

I did have dinner last night with my ex-boyfriend and there is a "chance" that we might be getting back together. We'll see - with him, you never know. I told him that it's that last time. If we don't get back together he can't come knocking again. I'm moving on. Way easier said than done!

Kim2 - I totally agree about the tipping situation. I think it needs to be earned. I didn't put mine on the card and waited until the end and did it according to what I felt was deserved!

I'm staying away from other threads on this board as well - man things got very nasty on the community board. I love my safe harbor here!

Well, off to read all the other posts I've missed and I'll work on pictures and changing our t-shirt design with the new and improved name! :thumbsup2

""""I did have dinner last night with my ex-boyfriend and there is a "chance" that we might be getting back together. We'll see - with him, you never know. I told him that it's that last time. If we don't get back together he can't come knocking again. I'm moving on. Way easier said than done!"""""

Good luck with this! I have a problem getting back with people after we breakup. Never seems to work with me LOL! If you decide to move on, know that you can rant and complain here.

""""I'm staying away from other threads on this board as well - man things got very nasty on the community board. I love my safe harbor here!""""""""

I seem to miss all the threads that are talked about in chat. When I go look for them, they all seem so innocent from the opening lines you see. Oh well, I guess it's probably better b/c I can get fired up over some things and I don't know these ppl well enough to argue with them :lmao: .

I did see you post on the POTC thread. I liked reading all the theories about the movie. I had no idea ppl were that into the movies. Well, except for Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner :faint:

I have scrolled back and can't seem to find it! I was going to redo the t-shirt designs!

I had a great weekend... doing a whole bunch of nothing but I did miss Noah. He's home now... and I'm putting the finishing touches on the computer (installing Office, the printer, running some of the new programs, etc..)

Back to work then on Labor Day weekend I'm taking Noah up to Traverse City (Northern Michigan - absolutely beautiful - I'll post some pics) and we are staying at a lodge that has a huge indoor/outdoor waterpark. It should be fun!

Well Ladies... off to do more computer work. :surfweb: I can't wait until it's fully set up!

Is it time yet? :yay: Is it time yet? :yay: Well, I booked the Poly for our one night stay after the cruise since we won't fly home until Sunday! I am so excited since we'll have a view of MK and the fireworks right from the room (provided we aren't in the park!).

I fell in love with the Poly when we went in April for Lilo & Stitch's breakfast. Which Noah promptly threw up all over the floor where the conga line usually goes through  Oh my... the kid kills me. Sometimes certain smells will make him puke!

Ok, better subject... I LOVE my new camera and I'm going to attempt to post a test pic... bear with me... (NO pun intended... as you will soon see...it's a polar bear!) :rotfl2:

My goodness we where on page 2

Sorry I have been MIA, I have been attending a funeral in St Catharines, my great niece passed away Friday night, they aren't sure yet what happened they are still doing a atopsy but they think a brain anerism (sp), she was only 13 years old.

OK, back to happy thoughts.

I quickly read through the posts last night but I forget everything already so I will go back and catch up. Kim1 is it you who already booked your hotel for after.....wow you go girl!!!!. I have only decided what I am doing not even close to booking. Only cause I always change my mind but we have decided to grab a early flight in on Thursday, go to MNSSHP on Thursday night. Just chill on Friday or maybe go to MGM and go to DTD on Friday night and then on Saturday.......SAILIN'.....that's all I got so far..... :goodvibes

I think I am just stressing about my Oct 06 trip and can't yet really enjoy this Oct 07 cruise planning. INlaws are coming with us this October and although my DFIL and I get along great my MIL drives me up a wall. I just keep reminding myself it is a big ship :lmao: I am looking forward to it don't get me wrong, just stressing about everything going OK and since it is there first cruise I want them to have a great time. OK vent over....

Well better get ready for work, have a great day all.

Do this..."We get to the US on the sat 13th oct and were staying at the hardrock UNV for 3 nights, then moving onto busch gardens (we've not been there before)for a further 4 nights before coming back up to the parks and staying at the dolphin for the week before we set sail."

OR

Go to UNV for 2 nights,go to bush gardens just for the day then send 3 days in disney (we have 3day passes left from last time) before going on the magic from 10/20/07 for a back to back cruise?..... :confused3

I'd do 2 UNV, 1 Busch Gardens and 3 Disney - the Disney Parks are so different than the cruises are so if your kids LOVE  the parks, I'd do that to get the best of both worlds! Back to back 7 night cruises? You are the man!! Or should I say you are the Gent? :worship: I did a 16 day vacation last year, 12 of them at Disney and on a 4 day cruise but oh my I couldn't afford that every year! :goodvibes

ps....wife and kids gone to turkey for the week so can anyone help me with the cooker? should it make all them odd noises and smoke that much? Sorry, I'm of no help in this area. I've only cooked a Turkey in the oven! ;)

I agree with Kim1, You don't need more then 1 day at Busch Gardens, and I don't know for sure as I have never stayed, we just go for the day and go back to Disney but apparently the area around Busch Gardens isn't that great so not sure if you would want to stay overnight.

I am cruising out of Tampa this October and was going to stay in Disney rather then near the port but apparently the port area is nice it is just the Busch Gardens area....again, I don't know this for fact but just what I have read.

Cooking.....hummmmmm can't help...I don't cook. DH gets home about 2 hours before me so he cooks......but I don't think it is suppose to make noises :rotfl: I think you should order take out...of if I recall my mom use to call it take aways... :goodvibes

Kim1, glad to hear things are working out well with the x- hope all works out.

Well I think my James is going home on BB tonight....oh well not sure who to cheer for now...maybe Chicken George.....lol

Hey y'all! I've been really busy lately! My son has started first grade and has homework not to mention karate. I've been trying to get a new job. The one I have now is KILLING me. I'm a RN and am trying to get a job in the ER again at the only level one trauma center in Mississippi! Wish me luck! I told them if I took the job that I have a once in a lifetime vacation planned and I need to be guaranteed off or I won't come. I'm going back to talk to them Monday and I'll let you know what they say!

DS's bday party is tomorrow. I'll be glad when it's over so I don't have to worry about who's coming. Not a lot of ppl rsvp anymore!

For those of you that are single, you should check out dismates.com. It's a singles site for disney lovers. We chat every night around 9 eastern time. You never know what the topic will be and it's a lot of fun. I have a different name there so if I see you there I'll PM you and let you know it's me!

Well, I need to go clean, family coming in for party.

I'm BACK! Just spent 5 days in Disneyland. Everytime I passed one of those DVC kiosks I kept telling the kids - hey- there's our boat! Just makes me want the days to pass faster.

School starts for my kids on Monday. We just got a letter home stating that taking the kids out of school for vacations is highly unwanted. They aren't in a public school so I don't think they'll lose any monies. My kids grades are good, and as long as I don't put the teachers out by having them do the assignments ahead of time... anyhow, we have to have a talk with the teachers directly and see what they say. My DD will be in 6th and my DS will be in 5th. The day before the cruise has traditionally been a 'grandparents/special persons' day where the kids have guests for about 3 hours (a lost day!) and then the next week is parent/teacher conferences and they have half day sessions.

A lot of stress over this and it's still a year away!

vital
08-26-2006, 08:11 AM
My DS will be in 2nd grade. I've decided that I don't give a flip about what they say. It's rediculous that they punish everyone for the shortcomings of a few parents. I was reading in our handbook and it said family vacations were excused absences :confused3 . Wonder if that's going to change next year? You know down here in Mississippi we are usually the last to change things so I guess this time it will be good to be last  .

On another note, everyone please face south and blow as hard as you can next Wed and Thursday. The newest hurricane will be in the gulf approaching us! I don't think our coast could take another hit even from a catagory 2. :guilty:

Well, off to clean some more before the fam gets here! Have a good Saturday!

Kimmielee
08-26-2006, 11:18 AM
Good Morning and Happy Saturday everyone!

Paula, my prayers are with you and everyone that resides on the Gulf Coast. I can't imagine living with the unknown after Katrina was so destructive! Please know that Noah and I send our prayers and pixie dust to you and Ethan! :grouphug:

Lori - I'm taking Noah out of school for the cruise as well. I put together a journal that he filled out to describe our adventures for our trip last year and the teacher was fine with his absence. He was doing very well at the time. I'm hoping his First Grade experience is just as wonderful for him! :goodvibes

Kim2 - I can't imagine how excited you are getting for your upcoming cruise. You must return and share all the secrets to make our's even better! ;)

Well, off to do so more cleaning... My ex boyfriend is coming for dinner. I decided to cook. Chicken Picata (lemon/butter sauce) with Angel Hair Pasta with fresh tomatoes, garlic and basil. I just called the wine shop and they are putting a bottle of Pinot Grigio in the cooler for me to pick up later... I can't wait for tonight! :yay: We'll talk and decide what's next... It sucks when you love  someone and things get to be so darn complicated!

Have a great weekend... I'll report in tomorrow!

 Things went very well last night. We talked about all the things that have gone wrong in the past and have agreed to give US another chance. This has been on (and off) since April of 2002. We met in Denver at a work conference and he knew who I was... but I had never met him. We worked in the same building together! I had a dream the night before I went to Denver that I had met and married a very tall man. :groom:

When I walked into the hotel in Denver, there he was. All 6'9" of him! :goodvibes Anyway, lots of struggles, past ghosts, he's about 5.5 years younger than I am, he hasn't had children and that was a big decision on his part because as I will be turning 45 NEXT month... most likely won't happen for us. However, Noah's Dad is not in the picture so the opportunity for him to bond and love Noah is there.

I've never introduced them. I've felt that until I was sure that we were on the right track for something more committed - Noah wasn't going to be involved. They "know" who each other are... they send holiday cards, etc... but they haven't "met".

Our first step is to learn how to date.... (he has to stop talking marriage and proposals) and then Noah, then our families.... and then it might work. :)

I know I sound conservative but I had a relationship with a man for about 1 1/2 years when the ex and I were broken up and Noah was very involved and it was extremely hard on him when I ended that one. I don't want to do that to him again.

Dinner - DIDN'T make it! I had my chicken out and pounded flat, onions and garlic chopped perfectly... and then found ants in my flour :furious: Also, I had bought fresh basil for the pasta and it turned black in my fridge overnight! :confused3 Was it too old when I bought it or was it too cold in my fridge? :confused3

Anyway, there's my update... I know you were all sitting on the edge of your seats waiting to hear what happened... :lmao:
