Having a hard time focusing on work. Can't wait until Friday. My DD and I don't leave until very late on Friday.

DD (15) is almost done packing. She has all her pins organized. Magnetic signs are almost done. I told her she needs to finish these tonight so I can print them.

I'm pretty much done packing except for the last minute items.

My Aunt stays at my house and watches the cats for me. My grandmother takes my dog. I am thankful for both. The down side to my aunt staying at my house is I have to make sure the house is in good shape. One more thing to worry about.

Only 4 more days until we cruise with Mickey!!!

Do you know the good thing about it is????? When all the baby formula and all the diapers are gone, you can pack this suitcase with souvenirs!!!!!!

That was my thinking exactly! :rotfl2:

We're doing the Lord Sheffield, too! It got such great reviews from people -- we're really looking forward to it!

I think my son is more excited about this than anything else :lmao:

Since we are tendering in, does anyone know where we dock? Do the tenders dock near where the cruise ships are? That part has me nervous since I have directions from that port. :scared:

I finally got our suitcase upstairs, now I have to fill them. The weather has been so strange here lately that's it's hard to tell which clothes we need day to day. Hopefully I can get the kids mostly packed today but since they are off from school, I can't guarantee it.

Stimpy- I know, the weather has been so weird. Today is just too dreary for me.:sad2:

Trying to take out all the extras that the kids keep throwing in their suitcases. They want to bring everything but the kitchen sink! I think they are planning on staying on the boat forever.:rotfl:

I don't think we tender at St. Maarten. The Lord Sheffield is at Dock Martin/Great Bay Marina -- a short walk from the cruise ship dock.

Well, think of it this way, just bring and extra sweatshirt, poncho or umbrella. If you are wet anyway what is a little rain to go on top of that?

Anyone planning on starting the bonine the day before. We are for sure!

Sorry, should have kept that one to myself! Though my hubby is pretty annoying when it comes to packing. He still hasn't packed anything - I know he is going to just throw stuff into the suitcase just before we leave and I'm praying he doesn't forget something - like his dress clothes.

I would like to know too since we have to 12 metre regatta scheduled at St. Martin.

11-06-2007, 09:43 AM
I don't know how they handle beach excursions and rain, but if your excursion is cancelled by DCL they just credit your account the cost of that excursion. I tried to do the regatta in Cancun a few yrs ago on another cruise line and it was cancelled due to lack of wind. If any other excursions are available at that time, they also work with you on going on one of them.

I fly out Friday afternoon, so I am starting my bonine ritual Friday early afternoon so it will cover me for the flight. I also have ginger capsals with me as well to take once a day. I usually take a bonine in the morning and then another late in the afternoon. On the last cruise I did great with that, but it was also very calm seas.

My big fear is that my sinuses have not cleared up. I don't have a runny nose, but I still have the heavy head feeling and sinus headache. I am worried about flying.:scared1:

I have always taken a dose of tylenol sinus headache meds before boarding and that does wonders for flying wth sinus problems. If I forget to do it, my head/ears/eyes hurt for a day after we fly. I'm also going to try taking the mucinex the morning we fly as well to help with the pressure. Our doctor also said to try using nasal spray before you fly, but I haven't tried that so I can't vouch for whether it works.

Good luck! :goodvibes

I lost the hearing in one ear to a virus 7 years ago so I understand your concern! I travel a bit for work and a lot for personal so I take 2 Sudafed (the real stuff, not the one you can buy on the shelf) when they start boarding so when we take off it has just kicked in.

If I'm already a bit stuffy my dr. will write me a prescription for Entex LA. It's miserable to have your ears pop and stay popped. Also, if that starts happening to you, the flight attendants have always been so kind and get me a hot rag to put on my ears - it does help.

Good luck with it! Yea! We'll all be cruisin' soon!:yay:

Can't worry about the weather. Weather is always unpredicatable and weather sites don't know anything. Lets hope!!

The forecast is for sun during our first couple of days, with some scattered clouds.

The forecast for the islands is a 30%'ish chance of showers, the tropics always get a sprinkling of lite showers here and there in the afternoons, just depends whether the clouds are above you or your neighbor.

Sounds a lot better that what they had over the last couple of weeks!.

The activity along the ITCZ is becoming fractured & disorganized - means probably no hurricanes!

My bet is picture perfect mornings and evenings with scatted clouds making the sunrises & sunsets georgeous.......

Also, for you sea sickness prone types, the biggest waves I can find anywhere along our route are about 7 feet.

Heck, we don't stop fishing for salmon on the west coast until they get to 10, somedays 12....

Should be wonderful, the seas inside the carribean are even smoother - some places 2-3 feet, no wind.

Cool!

Who was it that was leaving today? My memory is awful right now.

Unfortunately she is driving right into a snow storm!!
she and her DH and 4 kids are driving from Toronto to Buffalo (their 7am flight is from Buffalo tomorrow am).

5 months ago when she bought the tickets, our dmom stressed about driving to Buffalo due to threat of snow - to which we nonchalantly responded - it's the first week of november, she'll be fine.....

Did they give him anything to relieve his coughing? Another thing my kids have been given when sick like that is a cough med with a little codiene in it for nightime to help them sleep without coughing all night. It seems to relax the bronchi enough for a few peaceful hours.

We've been giving him Delsym. It's over the counter but works great. between that and having the humidifier full blast he isn't coughing much at night. The doctor would have prescribed something, but since the Delsym's working I told her we'd call if we need something stronger. We've tried the codeine before and he did not keep it down, so I haven't wanted to go that route again!

Good evening everyone! Dchildren were home from school today, so I was not allowed much time on the computer. Seems they had work to do for school or something:rolleyes: .

I can't believe how many people are starting to leave. We have three more days to go.

Still haven't started packing yet, but I had my first nightmare, that I did not pack ANYTHING for DD to wear. Maybe it's telling me I should get started. The next few days are just so busy with kid activities.

jajsmom--I love your fish extender. I've never seen one quite like it.

Hope everyone's illnesses disappear before they have to fly. A tip I learned on the DIS boards about 10 years ago is to fly with earplanes. They are pressure equalizing earplugs, and they come in adult and children's sizes. I used to have terrible ear/head/neck pain every time I flew. But I have been using earplanes since I got that tip, and it has made a world of difference for me.

It's gotten really cold and windy here. I can't wait to be on the ship and somewhere warm.

Just to add to my stress level - we got a call today and it appears that our trailer was broken into. Nothing was taken but they pried open the door and ruined it. We are looking into cost to get it fixed but we think it is going to be between $750 & $1000. Now we have to figure out if we should file an insurance claim. We have a $500 deductible and it is new insurance so I think that we will have to eat the cost. There is only one or two insurance companies that will insure the trailers so I can't risk losing our insurance for a small claim. The other problem is that the park is locked up. We got in today because they met us there to go look at it. One of the maint guy is going to get some sheet metal and nails and get it closed up so no animals or snow can get in.

Woody - have a safe trip!

jeez - I miss ONE day and I'm 7 1/2 pages behind!!

DD has croup - yay!! But we got her to the doc yesterday and got an oral steroid, so despite the fact that she has pretty much lost her voice - she's cleared to go on the trip and the doc says it will be all gone by the time we get aboard.

It seems to happen every year at this time, and of course, there were dozens of other people in the doc's office with the same thing - they said 'it's going around right now' ugh.

Do you have any idea how impossible it is to understand a whispering, cranky 4 year old with laryngitis??
:rotfl2:

So trying to get caught up. I'm so far behind on packing b/c I haven't had a break with DD underfoot and sick. No preschool = no packing.

yndygo,

Thanks for the In-laws Dis Sign!!! Youre the best.
Glad you got it okay!!
I still have yet to print out my door signs - we're going to be sparser than I planned at this point lol!! :)

Yuk, sorry about the snow!

When you put anything on your KTTW car, they do not charge it until the end of the cruise. That works out well for us, as it goes onto the next billing cycle.

Lauri

This isn't quite true - they charge it either at the end of the trip, OR whenever you hit $400... So if you have $400 charged to your KTTW card, it will charge and then they'll do the next increment or the balance at the end of the trip.

I don't remember what we did last time that put us over, but we had $457 in KTTW charges and they billed the first $400 on the day it hit that, then the $57 at the end.

Okay - that said, bedtime for me, so I can sleep and hopefully get more done tomorrow... we leave in just 2 days! eep!! :)

I am up packing and doing laundry like a mad woman (again!) after working a 12 hour shift at the hospital.

Staying at the Swan for three nights and then onto Port Canaveral!:thumbsup2

Doing Blizzard beach with the DH and kids if it is warm enough! Seems there is a sudden drop in temps right as we are in Florida before the cruise; go figure!:confused3

I think Blizzard Beach will be half empty if we go thurs or fri when they are saying expected temps are only 73-74 degress!

Did anyone also see that Port Canaveral is only supposed to be around mid 70's when we set sail? That is doable for sure! ( and no rain!:) ) but that is NOT what the temps have been like in the last week or two.............it really changes whe we happen to be there!

Hey Yndy, I feel your pain. DS had croup at least 5 times per year until he turned four, now he just gets bronchitis. The oral steroid works great though, if you can get them to take it - Connor gagged it out at least once because it tastes so bad. They give a steriod shot at the hospital which avoids that problem, but that was always preceded by a terror filled trip to the ER in the middle of the night because he could barely breathe. Long story short, I feel for you, but the steriod is going to work just great and DD will be bouncing around when you board! :goodvibes

Has anybody used Shutters to upload photos from a digital card to a CD.
I'm debating on whether to invest $80.00 in a new digital card. My camera holds approximately 600 photos, which is a lot. But I tend to take lots of photos. I took 340 pictures at WDW in August over 5 days. So I'm thinking it might be close. We are 2 days in WDW after the cruise. Total 9 days of photos. I'm thinking there is a stong possiblity that I may need to upload my photo before going WDW. Lots of festive happens going on which might means more pictures.

If you have use shutters to upload photos, how much did it cost?

You have some super cute kiddos! Any your fish extender is FAB ! Did you use a Bernina embroidery machine on it? It looks like the stuff my mom makes on her Bernina!

Its my neighbors machine. I don't know what she used. She makes lots of things and I am so not crafty. I have to buy her something special on the t rip for making this for me.

But I have been using earplanes since I got that tip, and it has made a world of difference for me.

is too cool for Princesses anymore! princess:

I bought her a princess coloring book and she said "Why did you buy a PRINCESS book?" "What, you don't like them anymore?" "NO MOM, I am too big for Princesses!" ARE YOU NUTS GIRL? Later when we were searching for Baseball hats we came across the pink princess one and she emphatically said "I am NOT wearing that!" Oh come on.......You will wear it!

Later when I told me husband he commented, "Well there goes the Magic of the Disney Cruise for her!" I have a feeling that will change when we are on board. Well, I hope!

HI all! Hope everyone is feeling better soon! DS was sniffling and droopy last night and all I kept saying was "NOOOOOO!!! Don't get sick now! Wait 2 weeks!" I know, I'm such a caring mom :rolleyes1

Love the extender! I just put stickers on ours and hopefully they will stay on. (I purchased the extenders from a DIS member recommended here)

Still no packing yet but DS did try on his suit.....it's a tad short in the arms but everything else looks fine. Hopefully no one will notice.

We never had photos downloaded at Shutters but I did do it at MGM one trip. I forgot how much it was....maybe $30 for 120 pics? It goes right on a CD and was so convenient.

My parents are in Orlando already. Mom says NASA is planning on sending up a rocket for the Air Force on Saturday afternoon so we might be able to see it from the ship. My DS will be thrilled to see that!

Hope everyone that is on their way already has a great and safe trip!

Lauri - Do you know where I can get those earplugs?

I believe I've seen them at Target and CVS. I also saw them in our airport gift shop when I flew last month. I think I actually bought a pair for Connor a year or so ago, but then never used them. He doesn't seem to mind the takeoff or landing, which is odd since he had terrible ears as a baby/toddler - he had tubes at 18 months. Guess he outgrew that problem.

Me too! :yay: :yay: The one sad thing for me about having a boy is that I won't get to do the whole princess thing. So instead I have to spoil my 3 year old niece. For her birthday I bought her the full Belle ensemble from the Disney store, complete with tiara, shoes, wand, etc. princess: Belle's my favorite princess, so I had to get that outfit for someone!

We are planning to start taking the Bonine on Friday. I have heard mixed reviews so I am not sure what to expect. I did hear that the regular dramamine makes you more sleepy than the bonine.

Any drugstore or grocery store carries them. They're with the eye and ear supplies. They're about $5 a box, which is good for a roundtrip flight.

I can't wait to go. I still have to think of a way to get the kids out of school early on Friday. They're missing 5 days next week, which is the legal limit the school district allows. Any more, and we have to go before the district judge:scared1: .

If it is a clear as the forecast says it will be, we should be able to watch the rocket go all the way into orbit.

I lived there when I was younger, on a clear night, you will be able to see all of the burns and separations all the way to the end.

Of course because of the distance, it will be mostly a bright light in the sky, but still pretty cool to see.

All,

We will be hosting the wine tasting / suite tour at 3:00 PM on Monday, our second sea day, in the Roy. We are providing 5 or 6 wines from our wine shop & online website for tasting.

We will have the culinary staff on the Magic cater some fruit & cheese platters, just enough for nibbles, donations to help cover the cost would be gladly accepted.

If you have a favorite wine, and wish to do so, please bring it along to share!

As far as the kids go, we are planning on running movies :happytv: popcorn:: in the library, so they can hang out without us adults.

Well behaved children are welcome, badly behaved children will be handed over to pirates ( no, Captain Hook won't really be there unless I can get concierge to pull some strings ) for plank walking and other activities .pirate:

All we ask is that no one open the drawers in the bedrooms, if desired, a private showing of our skivies can be arranged

If anyone has any questions, please let us know, we are not leaving for the ship until 10:00 PM, PST Friday night, so we can respond up until then.

Can't wait to see everyone on the ship!

The biggest waves along the route today are 6 feet.

There should be little to no ship motion once we get past the gulf stream.

There are no major weather issues anywhere, other than the minor cool snap in Florida, that cold front is not producing much rain or even clouds for that matter. in fact the forecast for St. Thomas is now a 10% chance of rain the day we show up, with a high temp in the low 80's.... fantastic!

How about plain old Dramamine? The other option is Ginger Snaps, or if they can swallow them, the capsules.

The passage through the gulf stream is always a little rougher than othe areas, because the water itself is moving at 8-9 miles an hour.

From what I can garner from all of the reports, there shouldn't be any large waves at all, so smooth sailing, here we come.

It doesn't bother me at all, both DW and DD have motion sickeness issues on land, but even the wife was fine until we hit 30 footers - even then a dose of dramamine fixed her right up.

This is the link to the bouy 20 miles east of the port:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41009

Just scroll down until you see wave height - which is 6.2 feet right now.

Once the cold front passes, it should calm back down even further, the waves yesterday were 3 feet high.

This is the bouy a hundred miles or so north of the VI:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41043

Waves are 5.2 feet, 82 degrees and about a 10 mph breeze.

This is the link to the weather station in St. Thomas:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=chav3

Where it is 79 degrees with a 9 mph breeze.

Sea you soon! ( nyuck, nyuck )

Ours, too, except they wouldn't miss dinner on our last cruise -- one DS had shrimp cocktail every night, the other ate a whole year's worth of red meat, and once DD learned she could order two deserts, that was all it took to lure her to the dinner table every night! She even went all by herself the night we were in Palo; we were at a table by ourselves, and the table next to ours also was in Palo, so Hannah had the two servers all to herself. Officemax had 2G SD cards for 20 bucks the other day, not sure if it's still going on or if it's in your area, but it's a thought

I figured out why I'm having such trouble packing for this trip. Each time we've cruised before, I always planned to rebook onboard. This time, we can't  , as DS will be in high school next year, and the school district is getting very strict. I've already warned DH I will be crying when they make me try to leave the ship.

I have had great luck with non-drowsy or "less-drowsy" dramamine. It is actually a different drug/chemical. I don't get sleepy and I don't get sick!!

He wants to relax by the pool, I want to do the Disney activities. So I searched these boards and gave him the two most recommended brands and off he went to the store to get us walkie talkies. I have visions of me looking absolutely ridiculous carrying this thing around, but he was so excited that I couldn't tell him no. This trip was his idea and I totally hijacked it by taking over all of the planning and meeting all of you guys, so I couldn't refuse when he wanted walkie talkies. :lmao:

I recall those days. Try have dh taking your son to the bathroom and your left alone in line with 6 suitcases, carseat, stroller, etc. People in line were very nice and helped me drag everything up a few feet every time the line moved.

Happy to say that my kids now pull their own suitcases.

Packing is done!!!
6 suitcases/4 people.
Its like when I was a yak at the airport when they were younger, only it was pack n play, stroller, and carseats instead of suitcase.

I figured out why I'm having such trouble packing for this trip. Each time we've cruised before, I always planned to rebook onboard. This time, we can't  , as DS will be in high school next year, and the school district is getting very strict. I've already warned DH I will be crying when they make me try to leave the ship.Lauri

Lauri,

I'll be right there with you, and for the exact same reason! The school does not like it that we're taking the kids out for the second year in a row, but we absolutely can't do it after this year since DD will be in high school. We're going to have to take a Christmas or spring break trip instead, and we can't bring ourselves to pay what DCL during those times, so we'll be looking for a less expensive alternative. :sad1:

In case we miss meeting some of you the first day, if you see a person with a walkie talkie, whispering "Chris, are you there, come in, over" into it, then please say hello, that will be me! :rotfl2: My husband came home the other night and told me that he heard from someone that we should have walkie talkies since we are going to be splitting up a lot. :lmao:

See you all soon!
Michele

Michele,

Your post just made me laugh out loud!! We were just debating last night whether to bring our radios; we probably will, although I don't think we used them once last time. But we did see a lot of people using them, so you won't be alone!!!

We'll have four really large suitcases and one fairly large one (each family member will be rolling one), plus a garment bag and a duffel bag to check, plus everyone will carry on a backpack. Once the kids got old enough to pull a full-size suitcase and I convinced DH there was no prize for the family with the fewest bags, my packing got a LOT easier. Everything we need fits pretty easily into that configuration of bags, although if we go for more than ten days we have to do a bit of laundry. Once our youngest gets bigger and his clothes take up more room, I'm not sure what we'll do, though. :confused3

Lisa,

Same with Alex on the last cruise two years ago!!

We had great next door table mates and we told them and our servers that we would be in Palo and that DD might come on her own. She had a great time with them and was treated "royally"!

I think that they will get along great!!

I think so, too. I'm really glad they've had a chance to "meet" via email before the cruise!

I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I have to get through a full day of work, then home to pick up DS and have dinner, then we leave for the two hour drive to the hotel we're staying at near the airport. Our flight leaves at 8:05 tomorrow morning. I have been up since 2am - well I fell asleep for about an hour before my alarm went off, but I actually got up and organized DS's medicine so we could just grab them and go this evening! Can't wait to meet you all soon! :cool1:

But after packing DD's dresses & other clothes, we realized we needed to go buy another suitcase last night  How can a 3 yr old take up so much room in a suitcase??!! Hi Lynn,

We are also from MA and staying at the Hyatt, but our flight doesn't leave until 4:00 from Boston so we won't be there until after 7:00, probably get a quick bite to eat then relax. I guess we will see everyone Sat. Morning.

If I were superstitious, I'd think we should not be sailing this week.

I have a lower-back condition (missing 1/2 disc at my L5/S1 - and partially prolapsed into the nerves) and it goes out about 2-3 times a year... Which usually means 3-5 days of bed-rest and drug-therapy (Vicodin & Soma) followed by Physical Therapy and a few weeks of moving slowly.

So yeah... it went out fully yesterday morning.
It was threatening spasms Tuesday - so I was ultra-careful and even went to bed early instead of finishing packing... only to wake up unable to walk. Had to call DH home from work to take care of DD and to get her to school.

I've been flat on my back and out of it (the vicodin makes me sleepy for the first day) for the past 26 hours. Everything still needs to be packed - and I'm typing from the laptop in bed - trying to keep from further aggravating it.

DH is bringing over the family friend tonight who is house-sitting for us while we're gone - so that he can watch DD while we try to finish packing.

My printer has broken down, so I haven't printed door magnets either. Trying to figure out if I will be able to make it to Kinkos tonight to print them or not.

So lessee - my DD has croup, I'm flat on my back, packing is barely begun, no door magnets, and we leave for the airport in 20 hours.

Shoot me?

I'm just thankful they came out with those wearable heatpacks for the back - those plus lots of drugs will get me there - but what a way to start a vacation!! :(

My parents are in Orlando already. Mom says NASA is planning on sending up a rocket for the Air Force on Saturday afternoon so we might be able to see it from the ship. My DS will be thrilled to see that!

What a great thing!! DH and I will surely be making the time to watch that!! :)

Just Pm'ed you as our links have expired for our door signs and I did not print them or save them!!:scared1: (Time has gotten away from me to say the least!!)

Thanks!

Karen, wife of been2marceline

PM'd you back with new links - let me know if you have any problem!

:goodvibes

Thanks! So far it seems to be helping - sure makes her skin soft!! (she has eczema too)
She had the oral steroid... I get in before the ER trip if at all possible... those are terrifying.

Can't wait. I work a full day tomorrow and my DD full day of school. Our flight isn't until 8:30pm out of RI. We are staying at the Hyatt. I don't think I have ever been so excited for a vacation. My DD and I had so much fun on the Wonder last year. We can't wait for 7 day Magic. I printed my duaghter's magnetic signs earlier. She did a great job!! Yesterday was crazy. My daughter's post-op visit and I also had an doc appointment. Plus lots of last minute things like paying the bills, etc. My daughter got the a-ok to do what she wants but is still limited to lifting anything more than 20 pounds. Thank God she can pull more than 20 lbs. We have 4 suitcases not counting carry ons. I would go crazy if she wasn't able to help. Her only other limitation is to keep her appendix scar out of the sun. Which is doable. It is below the bikini line and we won't be doing any nude bathing in St. Martin. She still has to put on 50 sunscreen on her scar area to prevent the scar from getting permanently dark.

Looking forward to meeting you all. My DD and I will be wearing lime green on Saturday.

We also will be at the Roy suite on Monday. Thanks so much for doing this!!! I will try to pick up a bottle of wine tonight.

I just got an email from my son's chorus teacher. It's not even a class, but an activity. Last year he got a detention for missing a rehersal (gee, we weren't even in school that day:confused3 ), so I sent notes to every single extracurricular teacher this year too. He sent me a thank you note for sending him a note.

I'm so sad that we're coming to the end of family vacations:sad1: . I guess they'll just have to be grown-up ones now.

The kids have early dismissal this afternoon, birthday party later, and then teacher conferences later this evening. I had a cup of caffinated Dunkin coffee before I started and I am still buzzing from it right now. I normally do not drink coffee! :surfweb: Later I need to go to the library to get a book that I may or may not read.

Tomorrow...Nail appoinments, another birthday party and early to sleep!

I think we may have to take the Benedryl route with her today :rolleyes1 Ordinarily, I wouldn't but I can feel pressure in my ears already so I'm pretty sure she will be hurting on the plane.

What a way to start a vacation.

And, I completely forgot to get beads!

Ok, back to packing! Yep, we leave at 12:30 and I still have to finish! Did I mention I'm a big procrastinator?

The whole family is kind of congested too. Good drugs for everyone, and get those earplanes!

I bought a dozen beads, so i'll have extras.

We're almost done packing, then off to school to pick up the kids. Our flight's about 6 tonight. I can't wait! It's so cold here. See everyone tomorrow.

I have changed my carryon 3 times! I was trying to get away small without any luck. Now I am in a true rolling carryon and hoping that regulations on size have not changed. I am so jealous of everyone that is already on their way. I just had my toes done with a mickey head on the big toe and HATE it.
It wouldn't be so bad if they were both white but one looks grey and the other is pure white. I need to find time to get back over there and get it taken off! ICK.
I really want to try get the kids in bed around 7. Yeah.....righto!

BTW my DH has not packed at all. I will definately need to be around to make sure he brings enough!

hey everyone!

It was great to meet a lot of you. We had a wonderful time (DH even said he'd love to go again on day when we can afford it :p, and with all the "NOOOOOOs" coming out of him before we left that was a big feat! I've got a lot of pictures off my camera, but i still need to get the last few days. DH also got a video that i'll probably take some clips off of to share in my trip report :) We had a great time and I sincerely hope that we can go again sooner rather than later.

We're back too...

It was great to meet those of you I got to meet! Sorry I missed so many - it just went so fast!!!

Thanks again for the wine reception Beentomarceline & family threw, that was a fabulous way to meet you guys!!

I'm still stuck in the land of persistant swaying - my mind knows I'm on dry land, my inner ear still isn't convinced... mostly, I'm sure, due to the head cold I seemed to have picked up on Friday.:guilty: I'm vertigo woman! Have been lying down all day so that I don't 'fall off' of my own feet!

Still, I'd do it all again!!!!

Hope everyone has made or will make it home safe and sound!

Does anyone know why we stopped by San Salvador the first day at sea? I'm still wondering what the medical emergency was.

Wondering who is going to come in and turn down my bed and make towel animals tonight... lol!

We asked our waiter if he knew what the medical emergency was and he said all they tell the crew is what they told us "medical emergency"...sadly i'm not sure if that was the truth or not :p Maybe someone else had better luck with a castmember :p

Our flight got in real late last night/early this morning. We we suspsosed to arrive at 12:00 midnight which was late enough, but the flight was delayed. We arrived around 2:40am this morning. We got to bed around 3:30am. Unfortunetly Arianna had to go back to school since she has already missed a lot of days. Appendix and then the cruise. The alarm went off at 5:30am. I'm not certain how long I will last. I will most likely leave early. The crusie was awesome. We booked the same cruise for next year. 11/8/2008. Did anybody else book this cruise? WDW was also great. We went to 3 out of the 4 parks on Saturday(no EPCOT) to see how they are decorated for Christmas. The castle was amazing!!! and the Osborne light festival. Yesterday we did our Christmas shopping in downtown disney.

I too am still swaying. My body definetly still thinks it is on the ship.

It was great meeting so many of you. I'm am so glad I joined the Disboards.

Welcome back everyone! We are all unpacked and clothes all washed.
Somehow I caught a cold Friday or Sat. and can't seem to shake it. At least it was at the end of the cruise.

Every so often I feel movement of the ship but not so bad.

We ended up with someone's piece of luggage. I think the luggage guy accidentally picked up someone's luggage while putting ours on the cart. Disney will have it picked up. I feel bad for the owners.

So, who rebooked onboard? I did but dh doesn't know. I may have to cancel since his job is on the rocks and may no be able to afford it right now. Bummer.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I can't believe I missed all the meets! I was really looking forward to meeting everyone. My Dsis was amazed at a little mini-meet at the Philly airport :lmao: She thought it was great.

We did enjoy playing the DIS fairy game. I went around 3 times delivering stuff and got quite the workout :woohoo: We gave out 2 things, my DSis gave out 2-3 and parents gave out stuff too. Hope everyone enjoyed them! I know we really did :goodvibes

We did rebook onboard and my parents decided to join us as DVC members too and purchased onboard.

Sorry we didn't get to meet, but I was the one who had the mini-meet with your Dsis in the Philly airport. I guess it was destined, because with Southwest's new boarding numbers, our families numbers got meshed together.

We got home late Saturday night, and the only positive was not having to climb on furniture to pass each other:lmao: . I can't believe all the work there is to do here. I finished laundry and grocery shopping yesterday, and then the family actually wanted me to make dinner.

We're all still swaying a bit here...you should have seen me driving my shopping cart yesterday :) . The whole family keeps breaking out into song, "Remember the Magic."

We didn't rebook onboard :sad1: , but we have a trip planned to DL over spring break. We're trying RCL next year over Thanksgiving.

It snowed here today. I do not like being home :confused3 .

I got one on Friday as well and it seems to have turned into a sinus infection - the swaying has finally stopped, but I have serious vertigo from the cold/infection - so bad I couldn't drive to go to the dr's today :(
Hope it goes away soon!!

I can't believe you missed us too!! I kept telling DH that there were supposed to be so many more DISers than I saw!
Sorry you missed the to-do at Beentomarceline's - they were such amazing hosts and the Roy suite is gorgeous!! I would've been seething with envy if they weren't such wonderful people that I just felt like they deserved it!
And the wine was amazing too! :)
Next time you'd better show up!

I did like doing the DISfairy thing too - was fun to see everyone's doors!

We rebooked early - but it's currently a phantom date for 12/6/08... I don't know if we'll keep it or not - waiting to see what the 09 itins look like.

DD keeps telling me that she prefers the Wonder over the Magic!!
I suspect it's due to the fact that she had more fun in the oceaneer's club on the wonder and that Ariel was on that ship.
Not as many princess sightings this time out.

But we'll be back again and again... I'm hooked :)

Hi everyone! We just got back this evening! We had a few extra magical days at WDW. I just sorted all the laundry - OH my.... :scared1: SIX people times 10 days!!! I've never seen sooo many dirty clothes!!!

We too were soooo bummed to miss the get together in the Roy Suite! That was the time of my "alone time spa massage/facial" which even by that day I REALLY needed! I actually headed up there thinking I'd pop in a "bit late"...but as I was heading down the hall I realized i was more than just a "bit" late - it was actually three hours after the start time! OOOPS! Needless to say we had a little difficulty adjusting to the time change - my three kiddos were a bit messed up too...so we had some stressful moments and yet some wonderful moments! My DH and I laugh saying that the highs were very high and the lows were REALLY low with our kids!!! There were some very embarrassing temper tantrums that each of my kids threw! But the good news is that no one seemed to care on board...gotta love Disney! :rotfl:

We all were so impressed with how spoiled we were! I too wanna know where my towel animal and milk and cookies are! We got so spoiled!!!

And thank you to all the wonderful Disfairies! My kids LOVED checking their "mailboxes" and felt so special! And all the fun gifts were so thoughtful!! Thank you to all who participated!!

Hannah loved meeting some of the girls from the boards. I enjoyed getting to meet some of you as well. Sorry I couldn't chat more - I'm looking forward to going back when my kids (the triplets) are a bit older and my DH and I can actually enjoy more of "our time" on DCL.

But all of the info I gained here was so helpful!!! What am I gonna do now without all my disboard time???? :rolleyes1

Hello Everyone!

We got back into Chicago late Monday night and I am already missing the warm temps my body had become accustomed to! Our 2 night stay at Carribean Beach was a nice wind down from the cruise. We only went to AK on Sunday because the kids wanted to swim. Carribean Beach was not all that I remembered it to be and I really wished that I picked Saratoga Springs or Coronado over it.

Even though my kids DID NOT like the clubs much we still all had a great time. I am very thankful that my MIL was with us even though she drove me batty. Too many controlling women in a small space is a recipe for disaster! :headache: No family members for us next time. Just US!

I enjoyed meeting some of you and I was shocked that I did not see Stimpy or Trisha! Where the heck were you girls? Michele it was a pleasure meeting you and your family. I am so glad we were able to meet up and spend some time together. For those of us on the 12 Metre Regatta it was a blast! Keri, Mike, Chris, Mark and I had an awesome time. I hope I did not miss anyone! A LARGE THANK YOU to Karen and Ted for hosting the wine tasting. I wish I could have stayed longer! I never did have a chance to say hi to everyone but recogized many of you later in the cruise.

My MIL was talking to one of the family members of the man that was taken off the ship at San Salvador. She was told that he collapsed and then was unable to move. I feel sorry for their whole family and hope that he is doing better.

I did rebook onboard for a ghost date in Nov for next year and I am waiting for the 2009 itineraries to come out before we decide what to do. My DH mentioned that he would like to go on RC instead so that may be another option. I also need to know if I should move that booking to Dreams now or wait until I find out what we really will be on. I tried very hard to convince my DH that DVC would be a great option for us but he did not think that a 5-7 year payoff was a good enough investment.

Debarking was relatively easy. Why on earth do we have to do so much standing around? My DH pulled a classic during all this. He was pulling our carryon with a camera strapped to the top and left it in the terminal. I think he left it at the customs stand. We get out to the buses and I ask him where it is. He says, "What Bag?". I flip out right there and say some very undisney like things. I am most mad because of the camera! He says that he was watching Adam and wasn't aware that he was suposed to have it. HELLO...I am carrying like 3 other bags and digging around for passports. :headache:
Anyhow....30 minutes later and he comes out with it. I relax a little but still feeling like nailing him one. BTW my MIL was defening him at this point and made the situation even worse. TED....had you come on to the bus 15 minutes earlier you would have seen me close to a meltdown.

Did anyone else gain wheight from the cruise? My skinny butt husband gained 5 pounds and he NEVER/EVER gains wheight! I gained 3 back of the 5 I had lost over that last few weeks. I even lost a pound over Halloween!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Those are fabulous! :)

Okay - now I have to laugh. You know how you "know" someone from the board but don't click to the fact that the person you "know" from the board is the same one you "know" from the ship?

I was laughing just now and DH said 'what's up?' and I said "You know that nice family with the 4 kids that we saw everywhere on the ship? The ones on the excursion whose Dad faked out the gate guy with his driver's license? The couple we talked to sitting next to us at Palo?" and he said "yep" and I said "it turns out that it's one of my friends from the DISboards I just didn't make the connection between her screen name and her."
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You even caught the back of my daughter Kira in the picture subtitled "waiting for the excursion" :)

Now how funny is that?

p.s. did your son ever warm up to the Oceaneer's Club? Kira got less thrilled with it later in the cruise :(

Thanks, we have a Nikon D50 with a 35 - 70 mm lens and a 70 - 310 mm lens. I got the camera in February while we were in Hawaii. My 35 mm died on me on our first day. I never bought something so expensive so fast. So far I have no regrets.

I have to tell you that my kids did not like it much either. Eric 5 hated it the most. I talked tp one of the piano players on the tender to St Thomas and he told me that the staff in the club was short by 7 people during our cruise. Could that be why our kids disliked it so much? :confused3

Hey!

We survived the week at WDW, the trials and tribulations will be published on our trip report w/ pictures as I write it over the next week or two.

Did any of our new DIS friends lose a pair of sunglasses during the trip?

DCL called and told us they found some in the suite, they aren't ours, but we haven't seem then yet.

I'm sure the ladies undergarments they found do belong to us, it didn't get THAT crazy......

Great photos. Your kids are adorable. Your daughter seems to love the camera. I love her fancy dress.

BTW, we met the last night. We were waiting to book our cruise for next year behind you. Did you tell your husband yet?

Funny you ask. I forgot all about that. Today in the mail, we both got ressies for the next cruise. I told him about it and that we could cancel if he wanted. He did want me to cancel because his job took a turn a few months back. So I called and cancelled today.

Anyways, I want to go to Hawaii or the Atlantis in Bahamas in a year or two. Maybe when Disney comes out with the new ships, then we can book.

The great picture of you in Palo also has me, my wife and my parents in the background. Your other other pictures are great as well.

I just got everyone in my photos, don't I. Funny how we are all so close, yet we don't know each other at the time.

Welcome back!! Glad you guys survived!

I'm fairly certain that they aren't my sunglasses - although goodness knows I kept trying to leave things there so I'd have a reason to keep visiting - but you guys kept giving them back!! :)

Anyone planning on booking a 2009 when the dates come out this week?

It was so much fun meeting you guys! We're planning on transferring our ghost-date from the onboard rebook to one of the special itineraries Summer 2009 if they're appealing, and I was wondering if anyone from this group was doing the same?

If so, what dates are you looking at? We'll probably do end of July - because it's near my birthday and our anniversary.

Yndy,
I am unpatiently waiting too. I am booking direct. Are you using an agent. Everyone says this will cause me some headaches getting through. Oh well.
I would really like the Southern Carribean. If that is on the Summer Schedule I would like June 6-13 or something around then. Other possible dates include:
Jan 17-24, Feb 7-14th, Feb 28-March 7, or Easter April 11-18 (Maybe too much $$$)

Hey everyone, I haven't checked in for a while, I've missed alot! We also booked a ghost date onboard and are waiting anxiously for the itineraries for 2009 to be released. I am hoping for the Med since I have never been to Europe, but it would probably be way too expensive. Plus the rumors all seem to be focusing on southern carribbean rather than the Med. I'm thinking that we would likely do a summer trip so that we don't have to pull Connor out of school, but it will all depend on the schedule. Chris and I were talking about how we wouldn't mind just doing a cruise where all we did was go to Castaway Cay - if they are in the Carribean in 09 we may just not get off the ship at all except for CC. :thumbsup2

We're not planning on 2009, we've got the May repo in 08, that'll have to do for a while.

The schedule is out today, doesn't look to be much change except tweeking the Eastern - which switches out St. Maarten for Tortola and St. Croix as options.

Now if it swapped out for "Tortuga, aye Tortuga" then it might be a different story.

Changed my date to Aug. 15 2009 Yay:banana:   We don't care to much what the port of calls are, we actually enjoyed staying on the ship and enjoying the pools almost to our selfs. Anyone else change for 2009 yet?

We are trying to get a Cat 3 or higher for Nov 2009. The travel agent is working on it for us, so I hope it works out. We are trying to do the Western Caribbean this time.:)

Looks like for now we'll be keeping our "phantom" date - Dec 6 2008 - since there aren't really any 'fun' itins for 2009, and the prices are higher, we'll just stick where we are, I guess.

Just had to post that we moved our ghost date yesterday! We are now on the Western double dip on November 14th, 2009. We did Western on our honeymoon and weren't that thrilled with the ports, but I am so excited for this cruise because we go to Castaway twice and then if I don't want to get off at Grand Cayman or Cozumel, so be it! And it will be cool going back to the places we honeymooned on the exact same week, 11 years later (our anniversary is 11/14).

Anyone else doing this cruise?

Michele

With no real new itineraries for the summer, I wasn't inclined to pay the outrageous prices... We'll still consider moving our date - but I didn't jump on anything they offered.

Although that Western double dip sounds like fun Phelpsie! :)

Still, I think maybe we'd save $200 to move it to December of 09, and I'd rather go again sooner... so for now, leaving my Dec 06, 08 'ghost' date the way it is.

Michele, we went on a Costa Maya double dip last year and loved it.

Are you sure the 11/14/09 Western is a double dip? When I checked the DCL website, the ports listed are Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Castaway Cay. Am I missing something?

I noticed that on the website too, but I saw elsewhere (either here or on allears) that it was a double dip. I called DCL and they told me that the Magic can't go to Key West that particular week because there is a celebration going on in Key West and they aren't allowed to visit when there is something like that going on. So the ship is going to Castaway Cay instead. I told her it wasn't on the website and she assured me that it is a double dip. Hope that helps.

Hi everyone!

I HAD a date booked for a Western on February 7th 09. I also considered the Nov 14 double dip. I just cancelled everything this afternoon. :(. Mark told me he was not interested in doing a cruise anytime soon. He felt that our kids main interest was shortchanged. He really felt that Disney missed the mark on the pools. Maybe the new ships will have a better/bigger area for swimming/waterparks. At this time I am looking at Mexico Allinclusives both Puerta Vallarta and the MExican Riviera. So if anyone has any advice let me know.

Well, I *do* actually understand this - if Kira were more into swimming than she is right now, I'd probably be right there with you. The pools are rather small and crowded!

If you're going to look at all-inclusives, I'd also look at Beaches - as they're really the only truly 'all' inclusive. http://www.beaches.com/general/resorts.cfm
The rates at Jamaica's Beaches Boscobel and Sandy Bay are both great!

Another friend directed me to Pebbles http://www.fdrholidays.com/pebbles/ which is an all-inclusive by a European company (not as frequented by Americans) which has "dedicated nannies" that provide child-care to JUST your family while you are there, working around your schedule.

Hopefully we'll see you on a cruise down the road again - maybe on the new ships!!
