Someone who just returned from the Sept 1 cruise reported that the onboard booking agent speculated that DCL would be doing something similar to the 07 Med cruises in 09:cheer2:
:cheer2: I am glad to hear that! Most rumors I hear about DCL have been true thus far. They need to work on their "Top Secret" plans! :rotfl:

Thank You. AND, she is great. Sometimes I can hardly believe how blessed I was. The right place at the right time.

When I first saw her she was riding the Carousel. My buddies and I were in line. I winked at her as she went by. I didn't even know she saw me wink until later. She 'magically' showed up on the Small World ride, sitting in front of me, which is where we met. AND No, I did not follow her.

Anyway....That is why we love Disney so much. :cloud9:

Right now ANgie is :laundy:

Hmmm. So....does that mean I followed him? Well, we (my girlfriend and I) did stay and watch him and his buddies ride the Carousel and then maybe we did just kind of wander the same way they were headed. :rotfl: Well, he was awfully handsome in that uniform!:rotfl:

We should be able to do it, considering we have 89 days to complete it. 12 posts per day would take care of it. We can do that.

WoW I go to a Mets game with DH, come back and had to read 9 pages to catch up to you all.. Good Job Chatter Boxes.. :chat: Mets Won :cheer2:

OK so I will go to the hair Salon first thing.. Ick I hate doing things like that.. ANYWAyyyyyy Ive never been to the Salon and since DH & I will be all alone this trip :cloud9: I thought for Formal night, a hair-do treat to myself would be very nice..

As for Palo... ok is there a reason behind why you all chose Wednesday?? Just curious is all.. I thought Monday would be nice since it is an at Sea day.. Something nice to break it up a bit.. Or are you just all trying to avoid me?

So the "KIDS" made the DCL trip boring.. :sad2: They should definately try again and do what "they" want to do and not let the "kids" spoil the adults fun.. WoW thats a little backwards.. :upsidedow

Im glad your Hubby got to Disney safe and sound..

I think Im going to try to request a Palo High Tea for me and DH.. We've never done that either.. :coffee:

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!! TO THE SPECIAL COUPLES!!

I havent worked on my magnetic sign for our door as of yet But I did get magnetic paper and a roll of Magnet so when I cant figure out the magnetic paper I have a back up plan :badpc:

Congrats to all on getting 2000 posts... and to think we still have 3 more months to go :surfweb:

Sorry you are still having reservation problems.. we all freaked out last night when the site was giving us all problems..

Did I miss anything :confused3

Here is our reasons for Wed at Palo. First three nights are the themed nights in the dining rooms...the only night they do the "show" in Animators. Since there is no way to know for sure which night we will be in Animators, and I like the themed nights in the other 2 also I don't choose any of those first 3 nights at Palo. Tuesday is Pirate Night and we do not want to miss the dining room for that because the atmosphere is fun- even thought you could do an early dining in Palo and still make it to the Pirate party. Thursday is LOBSTER night - YUM!!! Although they do have lobster at Palo that night, we really like trying the things on Palo menu, so lobster night we want to be in the dining room. Friday night is the last night aboard and we are usually attached to our servers by then and want to spend one last night with them. If I could not get Wed, Fri would be my back up.

Just our likes though. Palo any night would be wonderful! If we were not traveling with others that have never been we would not worry about the first 3 nights so much.

You can try again at the 45 day mark at midnight. They hold some back that they release for those folks. You can also book on board. I'm sure you will be able to get in one of those ways. So, you head up to the salon and send DH to book the high tea as soon as you board, then meet back up for lunch. Unless you are able to book it at 45 days. DrHug liked High Tea alot and so did I. We will probably do that again at least once on the Panama Canal cruise.

I guess im spolied.. cause we are on DCL Wonder in 2 weeks and will be in the normal dinning rotation since we will be with a couple that have never done it before.. sooooooo I chose Monday for us not to miss formal night or pirate night.. pluse we are doing excursions on Tuesday & Wednesday and don't want to have to rush to shower, change and race to a reservation..

I will try again for Tea at the 45 day mark.. :woohoo:

This is our tenth DCL cruise so we have done the dining rotation lots, but we often seem to have newbies with us and want to share that experience with them. It would be nice to go on a sea day when you are not rushed. Maybe someday......;)

Hi all,

I like to check in periodically, but its been months since I've posted anything. We would like to be involved with fish extenders. Let me know who I need to contact with that info.

I have a question about Palo. We decided to sign up for a brunch. I signed on today to reserve (first day I can try), it only shows Thursday available. Is that the only day they do it, or are all other days full.:confused3

They have brunch on all sea days. Sun, Mon and Thurs. Thursday is all that is available right now. They release more times at the 45 day booking for folks who book then and they hold some back for onboard booking for folks who do not use the web. Yes, there are still a few of those! So, if you want a different day, go ahead and book the Thursday just to make sure you do get a time, then try to modify it at the 45 day mark, at midnight EST or go to the Palo booking desk as soon as you board and ask if they can reschedule you to one of the other days.

And welcome back! :)

OK, I finally got the problem resolved and got everything booked!

I let Jim make most of the choices this time, so--it's dinner at Palo on Thursday (he wanted to do it on a day at sea), brunch on Monday (to be cancelled if we get the private room) and two excursions, but right now I don't remember which ones! And I decided to treat myself to a manicure for formal night. I've never been to the spa, in fact, have never even seen it, so this will be a treat for me. I booked it at 4 PM because I know that's what time Jim will be taking his nap.

Now it's off to work--I spent too much time catching up on this thread and just realized that I'm still in my blue fluffy slippers. I can't wear those to the office!

As for Palo... ok is there a reason behind why you all chose Wednesday??

I finally chose Wednesday, because I didn't want to miss the 1st night in the dining room, the 1st night in Animators, formal and semi formal nights with DD, pirate night, or the last night. Sooo, that left Wednesday or Thursday. Since we're at sea on Thursday, I figured that would be a good night for DB and his DW to do a romantic dinner. I didn't think he wanted to see his sisters at the next table over:rotfl2:

So,DSis, DF, and I were left with Wednesday! Since we leave St Thomas early, we should have plenty of time before dinner.

This is my 4th cruise with DCL, but first time at Palo! popcorn::

I got up early (for a Sunday) so I could get DSis' ressies booked. And as we all know, THAT turned into quite the dramatic experience :headache: :badpc:

And ended the day by staying up late (for a worknight) to race for the 2K pirate: :surfweb:

I actually had a little bit of cruise-related drama today.

I pulled up my NW airline reservations to find that my 2-leg itinerary between Brussels and Orlando had been changed to 3 legs in each direction. And I wouldn't be arriving in Orlando until 10pm on the 6th!

The short version of the story is that I switched to United. We now have 2 non-stop flights on each day, and I saved $800. I had enough Frequent Flyer miles in my UA account to still upgrade to Business class on the overseas flights. So life is good! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Wow everyone has been very busy.
I spent 2- 2 hours sessions with disneycruise.com yesterday. Thought all the problems were with our computer. Took me two hours to pre register then I could not make excursions....called, got the one hour story. Went back in later (another two hour session) and was able to book Afternnon Beach Bash and St Thomas Island Tour.
Congrats on the 2000pirate: So many pages to read today.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
a little late.

Thank you, but yesterday was the anniversary of the day we met at DL, not the day we married. That will be coming up Oct 6. Our family is having a "surprise" anniversary party for us Sept 29. So I guess we get to celebrate 3 times this year! :woohoo:

Then, he had Chinese food for dinner. He said that was delicious too. He stayed to watch Illuminations and got into his room around 10 PM. :cloud9:

I was looking at the gifts on disneycruise.com.........has anyone ever order flowers? I would like to have those beautiful pink roses to enjoy every time I walk back into our cabin. I wonder if they last a week, it would be hard to throw them out at the end of the trip.
One year I ordered the birthday celebration for my husband, also had Shirley make up a very nice gift of Chicago sport teams themed items. He was very surprised. I even held back the cards he received in the mail, took them with and gave them to him on his birthday.

Is anyone else having a Christmas tree dilemma? We usually put up a real Christmas tree. But, we will be gone for the first two weeks in December. So, we are coming back from our trip with two weeks of Christmas. By then, the trees at the lots are pretty slim pickings and pitiful! We don't want to by an artificial tree. We've had two in the past and the big boxes are a pain to store. We don't have cellars or even proper attics in Texas. So, storage is at a premium over here. What is everyone else doing? Just curious.

We've had two in the past and the big boxes are a pain to store. We don't have cellars or even proper attics in Texas. So, storage is at a premium over here. What is everyone else doing? Just curious.

Because of my allergies we always have artifical trees. So I am no help to you. Could you buy the real tree before the cruise and keep it outdoors in a bucket of water?

I hope Bill has a great time "eating his way around EPCOT". We love it. I am so jealous. I missed a lot of good business trips when I stayed home with our children. Now I go too. Like you, I was a stay at home mom and I loved it (except when DH traveled). I know what you mean about hearing every noise.

We also have an allergy situation, as well as all those pets, so we have artificial trees. Last year, we had three, this year we'll be adding one more. We have one in our front room, which is also my TV room, one in the living room, one in DGD's room and one upstairs in my home office.

One of the smaller ones of those trees will be with us at Fort Wilderness, the rest of them will all be set up and decorated before we leave. The dogs are going on a vacation of their own to my DIL's mom for the length of our trip, and the trees are always securely tied up so that the cats can't bother them, and the friends who will be watching the rest of the menagerie will keep an eye on everything. We have no breakable ornaments (or toxic ones;)) on any of our trees. All of our fragile things are displayed on hooks mounted on the wall or on "pet proof" shelving.

We also have an almost endless supply of holly, ivy, pine cones and pine boughs which will be added to the decorations when we return!

:scared: I had a hard time keeping Cole away from the tree last year. So, I know this year he is going to be a nightmare! I was thinking of maybe buying a small artificial tree this year. We could always put it up in the kid's playroom next year at Christmas time. Last year, I almost bought a Disney themed small tree online. We were initially booked for the Magic's Christmas cruise, but had Santa issues. So, we changed it over to this one. I may start looking now.

Bill laughs at me sometimes, because I can have a whole conversation with myself. Usually I answer my own questions, but have to talk myself through it. :rotfl:

Christmas tree...we have a an artificial for the last 3 years. Bought it on super sale after Christmas. Something we thought we would never do, but boy is it easier! We sailed this same time last year and it went up right after we got home.
Christmas is a "quiet holiday" for us. We do big time, get the whole family and extended family together at Thanksgiving and then have low key Christmas. We have had as many as 45 at our house for Thanksgiving and we do sit down, not buffet. We take all the furniture out of the living room to set up tables, with matching crocheted tableclothes that my mom made, mis matched china place settings (picked up odds and ends at yard sales over the years) and servings of each of the foods at each table to be passed around. Whew! Lots of work for me, two 20 lb. turkeys, a big ham, 20 lbs of potatoes to peel and mash, BUCKETS of gravey. :sad2: All of this one week before we leave for WDW most years. :scared1:  This year will probably be our last to host this since we are planning to sell the house, travel in the motorhome for awhile and just get a small place in Montana which is too far for all the family to travel. We will hand off the torch to a niece and travel to their house after this.

I'm a grinch who uses a fake tree. And since we'll be home over Christmas (NATO shuts down for 2 weeks) it'd probably be nice to have the tree up. So I think we'll put it up before we go, so we can come home to the decorations! I'll have to consult with Jasmine and see what she wants to do.

: We were initially booked for the Magic's Christmas cruise, but had Santa issues.

- Jennifer

When Jasmine was 2, Santa had to deliver the presents to my "work" because she did not want Santa in our house! :rotfl: I guess the idea of someone coming into your house in the middle of the night can be kinda creepy. :scared1:

Last Christmas Jasmine didn't get any presents from Santa because she kept telling me that she could misbehave as much as she wanted and she'd still get lots of presents. So she ended up with a letter from Santa instead. (She was upset that she didn't even get a lump of coal, since she could've used that in the barbecue at least!) That got her attention, and her behavior improved dramatically. So in June Santa made a special delivery to her with another letter telling her how proud he is of her. But he sent the presents in the mail, because with Global Warming its too hot for him to leave the North Pole in June. :rotfl2:

Jasmine is almost 9, but she says she "chooses to believe in Santa Claus." When I was explaining to her the violence in Iraq is caused by people who have different religious beliefs, she said "That's stupid! That's like me wanting to hurt someone just because they don't believe in Santa Claus!"

What do you think of when you think of Chicago? I would like to include something "Chicago" to put in everyone's stockings. Since deep dish pizza would be too messy AND difficult to transport, I need some ideas.... We used to make Fannie May chocolate and Frango mints, but they are now made elsewhere.

MrsMork

They have brunch on all sea days. Sun, Mon and Thurs. Thursday is all that is available right now. They release more times at the 45 day booking for folks who book then and they hold some back for onboard booking for folks who do not use the web. Yes, there are still a few of those! So, if you want a different day, go ahead and book the Thursday just to make sure you do get a time, then try to modify it at the 45 day mark, at midnight EST or go to the Palo booking desk as soon as you board and ask if they can reschedule you to one of the other days.

And welcome back! :)

I'm quoting myself, which is scary. Worse than talking to yourself I think! :lmao: BUT, I need to CORRECT WHAT I WROTE....The day for booking is 75, not 45 days out. That will be Sept 24 I think midnight, so really Sunday Sept 23 at 9pm PDT, midnight EDT. Sorry, I read this again and :scared1:  wanted to make sure I corrected it.

When I went to Chicago the first time my DS (18 at the time) said he wanted me to bring Chicago pizza back for him because a fellow he met from Chicago in basic training told him how good it was. Obviously I was not going to lug a pizza home with me, but I did buy him a Chicago pizza cookbook and he became quite the pizza maker. He made his own crust and would only use sause he made himself from Roma tomatoes. He followed the directions to the T.

Oregon sounds very nice, it is included in our five year plan. First we have to finish Rte 66. Is there any time of less rain? I don't like rain, it reminds me of indoor recess. Indoor recess was in the basement of our school near the boiler room, every time we have rain it brings back such dreary memories. All that concrete.

Maybe you could bring George Strait!:goodvibes
:ssst: Shhhhhhhhhhhhh! (I live in Texas, but don't listen to country music. I could be kicked out of the state if anyone knew.)
However, I do like George Strait. Bill has a few of his CDs and we always listen to them on roadtrips. So, I can sing along to all the songs now.
It is fun!:music:

Did you have your muster drill in Animator's Palate? That's what it looks like in the photo. If so, lucky you! We were outside in the hot sun! :cool2: It is great to put a face to your name! Jasmine is adorable! I want that hair! princess:

Yes, our first 2 cruises we were aft on deck 7 and both times our muster station was Animators Palate. This time we're aft on deck 8, so maybe we'll be inside again!

 I just had an epiphany. . .Why don't we all bring a postcard for exchanging from our home city/state? We could always put a favorite local recipe or a tid bit on the card? It is not perishable and easy to pack? Just an idea.

That sounds like fun!

Okay, I've been busily putting some of our Disney photos into an album on Photobucket.

So now Beth and I both have albums on the blog. We just need everyone else's!!

Also, I've been collecting clipart and photos that can be used for magnets. I put them all in another album with a link in my signature block.

(And Judy a few months ago I didn't know how to do any of the above!)

I need to hit the hay, but the rest of you have a great day!!:woohoo:

Yum, did you buy him the special pizza pans too?
We have so many different types of pizzas here, all good. Pan, thin, thick, pizza bowl, stuffed, deep dish, you could have a different type of pizza every night.......Hmmm, maybe we will have to have pizza tonight.

Yes, and it was the one with the crust on the top too. Very yummy! He made them for work for potlucks a couple of times and they were a big hit.

 slugs, none for me, thanks.

July, August and September usually. But we had a lot of rainy days in August this year. We are unually warm right now ---in the 90's and sunshine. Our rain starts usually in mid Oct and last thru June. But, it is not like rain in other parts. It is kind of a dry rain. :rotfl: ;) Doesn't rain hard, just steady drizzle for 9 months. It does make it a really green state though. The Oregon Coast is one of the most beautiful places I have seen. If you only have a few days, I would say do the area around Tillamook - central coast - particularly Lookout State Park area. That is my favorite. Then a day trip out the Columbia River gorge to Hood River is a must also. Multnomah Falls is amazing out that way. Southern Oregon also has Crater Lake and Rogue River which are don't miss places too. Hmmmm...sounds like you are going to need a couple of weeks out this way. You would want to take a trip up to Seattle and have brunch on the Space Needle also. That is a 4 hour drive from Portland.

Hey Everyone!!! This is my first post here on our cruise meet!!!! My DH is RBennett and I'm always looking over his shoulder when he is posting and looking on here, but this is the first time I've really been on the meet site. So I have a question for you, being a first timer at all this cruising stuff, how is the temperature in the Caribbean in December, more specifically at night???? RBennett and I were talking on our way home and we know we want to spend a lot of time on the deck at night, and we were wondering if there are any blankets in our rooms we can use if we get cold, or do we need to bring one from home??? :confused3

Well, this year, right here in Monmouth County at Monmouth Park Racetrack, we have the Breeder's Cup, which is one of the premiere events on the international horse racing circuit. Some souvenirs from that would be cool! I'm going through the security checks to be a volunteer at the track that weekend. There will be wealthy people from all over the world in attendance and security is very tight. My son and daughter-in-law are both EMT's, and they'll be at the races both days of the event.

As for "other grandma" food--we had some tonight too. My DS and DDIL had dinner at her mother's house on Sunday and they brought home lots of macaroni salad, potato salad and pasta salad which we had with some baked chicken tonight. It was really good!

It is very warm even in Dec. I don't recall needing anything to warm up with (except DH of course! ) in the evenings. But, there are blankets in the rooms or you could just grab one of the pool towels and throw that around your shoulders or over your lap. A lite sweater would probably be enough.

And welcome! We are glad you are joining in!

Hi Pooh_Girl!

:welcome: to the !!

One thing to plan for is that the temperature in the evenings can be cool INSIDE. I usually stick to long sleeve shirts for the casual evenings and am quite comfortable. Also a light windbreaker jacket may come in handy, and doesn't take up much room in your suitcase.

We attended the Breeders Cup when it was at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas a few years back. It was a great event. I got all dressed up in a sundress and hat. It was fun! We stopped off in Ocean City, MD on our last roadtrip to Boston. We ate soft-shelled crabs at Philips. I love seafood, but they weren't my favorite. I am a scallops eater. Next to lobster, they are my favorite. It goes back to growing up in New England. Every Mother's Day, the kids take me to my favorite seafood restaurant called Fishmonger's in Plano, TX. I always get my "annual" baked scallops. :woohoo:

Yep. That should be a good night for Palo. That way you won't miss out on any of the other evening actities.

It is fun to try to come up with something from your area. I am not too familiar with Chicago. Just been there a couple of times for meetings, one just for 2 days another for 5 days.

Hmmm. I only remember the five day. Wow! I didn't get to go. :confused3

 slugs, none for me, thanks.

The rain here isn't too bad. It is a dry rain.:rotfl: :lmao:

dry rain? :confused3

Yep, just a constant drizzle from Oct to June. Not hard "wet" rain like they get in the midwest and even down in California. Oregonians refer to it as a "dy rain" like the folks in Arizona talk about the "dry heat" not being so bad. Sorry folks...115 degrees is HOT no matter how dry or wet it is! ;)

My guy likes all the same silly stuff a kid or lady would get. We have gotten pencils, leis, candies, magnets, bandanas, bananas  (sponge, not the real thing:rotfl: ), notepads, deck of cards....lots of little stuff and he was good with all of it. He wore the lei at embarkation, ties the bandana to the jeep in Cozumel. 30 jeeps with lime green bandanas flying was quite a sight! :dance3:

So, are the adults (or kids in big people bodies) on this cruise going to wear pirate costumes on Pirate Night? I'm undecided for us. If we are I have to help 11 other people come up with something. :scared: I'm thinking about getting those $4.99 pirate shirts from Disney and calling it good. Another set of 13 matching shirts!

Pooh_Girl wanted to buy the Capt. Jack hat with the attached dreads, and go full out, but I told her A) girls don't dress up like boy pirates, and B) I think we'll have enough costume changes that day. :lmao: We are starting out at St. Maarten, then coming back on board and getting ready for Palo's, and then running back to our room to get ready for the late dinner/pirate night. Whew!! I'm already tired from just THINKING about it. I was planning on khakis and a piratey/tropical button down for the night stuff.

Last time, we dressed the kids in pirate: pirate costumes while Bill and I just wore Pirates of the Caribbean t-shirts. Emily had me pull out her costume the other day. She wanted to try it on to see if it still fit. :thumbsup2 It did. So, she wore it for the rest of the day. :yay: To be a kid again. No one looks at you funny in the store dressed like a pirate. Bill Update:

After a morning of roundtable discussions:rolleyes1 , he went to ::MickeyMo MK in the afternoon. Again, short lines. He went on Space Mountain twice in a row with no wait.:woohoo: Also, he rode Splash Mountain, BTMRR and pirate: Pirates of the Caribbean with short lines. The longest line he said was at Splash Mountain (10 minutes!). Poor him! It did start to rain again. :umbrella: So, ducked into one of the stores on Main Street to buy some more souveniers for the kids. He said it was so empty that everyone was under the awning waiting for the rain to stop. So, Main Street was empty. I am sure that was a sight! :cloud9:

He went to Epcot this evening for more Fish 'N Chips in the UK. Then, back to the room to relax and call me.

He just discovered this evening that he can see Illuminations from his patio. He was on the phone with me and heard the fireworks starting outside. So, he stepped onto the patio so I could hear and was shocked in being able to see the fireworks too.

He is doing a Manager run tomorrow morning around the Lagoon. He ran it the other morning and said it was neat. Also, he was happy to have something to look at while he ran, because his MP3 needed new batteries half-way around. :music:

:cheer2: We went to Will's Homecoming Parade this evening. :cheer2: It was fun! Will rode on the float with his team, while Emily, Cole and I watched the parade. Emily got way too much candy. :scared: She plans to share it with her brothers. It was a great experience for Will. I just wish Bill was there to see it too. Initially, we were told it was going to be this Friday. So, Bill made sure to get an early flight home from Orlando. Then, we were later told it was on Wednesday. So, there was no way Bill could attend. I guess there's always next year. :confused3

I bought a costume from buycostumes.com. I told my family to look for stuff too. Since we are so close to halloween, I'm sure it'll be easy to find stuff at a discount. Also, I've seen some cute family Pirate pictures where most people just wore black pants, and red shirts. You can easily dress that up with the free bandanas, some mardi gras beads, and eye patches.

Good morning! I got a late start this morning, and then my train was late, so I'm going to be playing catch-up all day.

RBennett: Why can't girls dress up as boy pirates? I certainly would, if we were dressing up, which we aren't. We have too many other things to pack for our epic vacation!

The tag fairy does "cruise" this board now and then--I got tagged a couple of years ago, and I'm still pleased with my tag, and still very patient and very helpful!

Jim is really starting to get into the cruise planning. Is it too late to be included in the "Secret Mickey"?

I like the idea of doing business in a pirate costume. I've been known to wear a witch hat to work during the Halloween season. It really got some attention when I had a meeting with several municipal attorneys! And it looks really cool with a business suit. It gives me a bit of "understated elegance".:rotfl:

Now it's back to work.

Beth

Ok, just to clarify before I get mobbed!!! :lmao: She can dress up like ANYTHING she wants. I mean look at the character Anamaria in Curse of the Black Pearl! When they were looking for a crew at the beginning of the movie, she was dressed up like a boy pirate and pulled it off GREAT!!! So that was just me at trying to come up with reasons for Pooh_Girl to not pack any more "stuff" than we need. :thumbsup2

BethC1952
09-13-2007, 08:31 AM
Anamaria is exactly the character I was thinking of, I just couldn't remember her name (yet another senior moment this morning);).

That's OK then. I can understand not wanting to pack more stuff! We're trying to limit our stuff to two suitcases and one carryon each because we're traveling to FL by train and camping for a week. I don't want to drag any extra stuff around either!

Beth
