We are heading to London for OFFSA. My DD's high school team won COSSA so we will be in London March 21st, 22nd, and 23rd for the big tournament.
I know we have more hockey parents here- will anyone else be there?

I will not be there but wanted to mention my 4 year old is starting Tkey Devilettes next season she has just started her powerskating lessons and just loves it. Now if I could get her to be a goalie like dad.

Charles that's a great age to start. Everything is so cute then. My DD didn't start until she was 9 and you could really se the difference between her and the girls that started early.

Our daughter plays goal for Oakridge, and we have an automatic berth as we are hosting the OFFSA AAA/AAAA finals this year - so we will definitely see you there. We lost the TVRAA championship to St. Thomas Aquinas last week, but are in the WOSSA semis against St. Mike's (Woodstock) on Wednesday.
Her Devilettes team (Bantam AA) just qualified for the Provincials yesterday and we have a playoff series against Waterloo upcoming this week. With only a month of hockey left the end is in sight!

You got a pretty good deal on those pants, but trust me - unless you have access to your own private banker, you don't want a child who's a goaltender. We bought DD a new pair of pads at the beginning of this season, and even though I got a good deal through a contact I have at Vaughn Sports, I spent more on those pads than I spent to fully outfit my 16yo DS, who's a left winger.
And it's not even like I'll be able to recoup my investment when she hits the NHL, either. :confused3

Wow - I'm reading all these posts about how expensive Hockey is. My dh is from the Uk, so he really wanted ds4 to take skating and play hockey because it is so "Canadian..." So we paid our pint of blood and signed him up for skating and then had a huge fight with him every Monday and WEdnesday night because he HATED it. :confused3 oh well. We let him quit in the end after a long talk about how we don't just join and quit things. He loves swimming so maybe he'll do that instead...sounds like it will be cheaper *until* we have to put a pool in for him to practice!! :p :rolleyes2

:thumbsup2 Cool that you're coming to our lovely city ! Good luck to everyone that will be competing.
MikeJ - Oakridge is "hosting" ? Please don't tell me that all of the games are being played in that cold :cold: arena!
Our DS5 usually ends up in tears whenever we go skating ... he doesn't quite have the hang of it yet, so no upcoming hockey for us ;) I'm secretly kind of glad because it can be an expensive sport in both terms of $$$ and time.

That would be "Oakridge" the high school, not "Oakridge" the arena hosting OFSAA this year. :) Actually, according to the web site the games will all be played at Nichols Arena - not as nice as WF but easily the next nicest arena in town. The girls played a number of their home games at Oakridge this season, and next to Silverwood it's the coldest arena in southwestern Ontario. We do a lot of :yay: just to stay warm...

I grew up as a goalie and my parents got me new gear every seaswon ans all I wore was Vaughn after Majour pee wee thankfully I get employee prices for my stuff but even at that I still have close to 15 grand in goalie equipment all custom made to measure and colours etc. I just hope she decides to be a goalie but I have a feeling she is going to want to be the centre of attention as a foreward and goal scorer LOL. The worst part for me is I haven't even gotten to play in almost 3 years because of my knees I got out 2 times this year the second time I forgot my brace and tore my ACL so I go back under the knife next Tuesday and then again possibly in Oct or Nov just before our Cruise in Dec LOL.

Ah. You guys are A/AA. We're AAA/AAAA. Different championships but they just happen to be close to each other this year. The website for that one is http://www.stjoeshigh.com/. I know the convenor for the A/AA finals (his daughter plays with our DD on the Devilettes) and they're really looking forward to hosting it this year.
I don't know if it's going to be the same banquet or not. Ours is also $25 and is at the London Marconi club on Tuesday night. The menu posted includes:
Penne al Sugo & Salad
Roast Chicken, Baby Carrots & Roasted Potato
Fresh Bread
Cheese Cake
Coffee, Tea & Soft Drinks

Sorry you won't be able to make one Charles- she's a Habs fan and a great player(I'm not to partial :confused3 )
I didn't realize that there were 2 different tournaments until this morning. I guess your ranking is on the size of draw in the area which is why we are only AA.

Well if I was driving I wouldn't have a problem but I am having to get somone to drive us there as my operation is on my right knee LOL so I won't be able to drive anyplace and being that Nichols is closer to us than St Thomas is we have opted for the closer venue.
I just read in today's paper that my old high school won EOSSA and will be going to OFSAA. It's being held in St. Thomas so I assume that's the A/AA side. High school girls hockey has only been around for about 4 years where I am...I'm 1 year too old to ahve played! Makes me so mad cause I miss playing hockey so much!! Ah well....
Go Panthers!

Just got back from a week's skiing in the Rockies (life is tough) and had a quick look at the schedule. DD will be playing Tuesday at 10:10am (Nichols Pad A) and 2:30pm (also Pad A) and Wednesday at 8:15am (Pad C - the new one). After that, it's anyone's guess. :)
Sherry, good luck to Holy Cross. I'm checking the schedule to see if I can get down to St. Thomas and catch any of your games, but given I was away for March break sneaking off for another full day may not be in my best interests. ;)

Not unless you're in real early with the van. :teeth: We play Ajax at 8:15am to determine first place in our pool. Oakridge won both their games today and are guaranteed a spot in the quarter-finals tomorrow afternoon. :woohoo: DD played the afternoon game and only allowed one goal late in the third period. (She was named player of the game for her efforts, winning a free Boston Pizza pizza in the process.)
Checking the A/AA website, I see hockey mom's DD split their games today and it appears they need to beat Kincardine in their last round-robin game to get into the quarter-finals. Go Holy Cross!
Charles, I kept an eye out for you this afternoon. If you make it tomorrow, I'll be the guy in the corner with the camera wearing the deerstalker.

my mom and dad were at a Kalan Porter concert in the summer in Peterborough and my mom won the 50/50 draw and got to go on stage with Kalan and her pics taken. He signed a bunch of pics for the grandchildren!! Oh yeah she won $4112. Her and my dad went to Mexico in November!!!

Finally I can post. The internet at the Hotel was so slow and hardly working.
My DD tied her third game but still placed them second in their division so we played in he quarter final and 1:45. I thought we were going to get cremed but we only lost by one goal. It was a great game. At one point we were winning but ended up losing 5-4. So we took off for home shortly after to get the kids back in school.
One of the girls we played against in that last game has played for the all Ontario team and was she good. She scored 3 of the goals.
Maryliz we stayed in London because the Four Points Sheraton was the host hotel for OFFSA. Not a bad drive though to St. Thomas- about 15 minutes.
Mike how did your DD make out?

Mike how did your DD make out?
They lost a 2-1 heartbreaker in OT in the semi-final this morning (1:17 left in a 10 minute 3-on-3 overtime) and now play in the bronze medal game at 12:30 this afternoon. They are playing Brebeuf who were the top seeded team in the tournament. STA beat them in the other semi this morning.
The girls will have their work cut out for them this afternoon.

After jumping out to a 3-0 first period lead against St. Jean de Brebeuf (Hamilton) in the bronze medal game, the girls hung on for a 3-2 win to bring home the bronze. Unfortunately, DD didn't get to play either game today as the coach had the graduating goaltender play both games.
Now we've got the OWHA provincials in 2 weeks, then the season is really over. Except for next year's tryouts, of course....
