sorry if this has already been asked, but I figured I get a quick response here on these boards, I know we will need photo ID for boarding our flight, but do my kids need any form of ID or birth certificate--they are all under 9 years old? Thanks everyone

No photo ID's or birth certificates needed for children under 16. Another thread said that they needed photo ID for a 10 year old, but the child was traveling by herself- there was probably more to the story. Call the airline, or check out their website to make sure, but the airlines realize children flying domestically don't have photo ID's!

Delta told me no - ID is not necessary for children. However, my 9yr sons birth certificate is in my fanny pack ready to go to the airport in 9 hours! My son and MIL are picking us up at the airport. They both have my sons new school picture in case they need to make an identification.

I've never been asked for them, but we carry certified birth certificates for our kids. They are now 10 & 9.

I got photo ID's for my 10yo and 8yo kids (from Motor Vehicle Admin) just in case. I had my 2yo's birth certificate with me, and they never asked for it (even though they told me to bring it.)

I went yesterday and got both kids photo id's at the Drivers License facility. It was only $4.00 each. I thought that was very reasonable and the kids love them. It really beats carrying around the birth certificates. I can just stick them in a waist pouch with my credit cards. We did need to present three forms of ID. One had to be social security card and another had to have a photo of them. I used SS card, birth certificate and passport.
