Hi there! I'm just starting to put some plans together for a 2007 trip. I stumbled over this site and have been reading about the pool homes. I've searched threads and looked at probably thousands of listings, but still have a few questions:

1. Can you see the Disney fireworks from many or most of the divisions? I've seen a couple of home ads that mention seeing the fireworks from the house (at Sunset Lakes and Orange Tree for example). Is that true of most? If not, which developments/areas are the one with the view?

2. I would love to hear more about negative experiences. I see very few mentioned (which is great) but they are not very detailed. I would really like to know specifically what people's problems have been with houses and specifically which houses/owners had the problems.

3. I am looking for a 4 bd pool home. I'd like it to be somewhat near the park and would love for it to come in at under $1000 including tax and pool heat for 7 days in February. Does anyone have any good specific homes they would like to recommend? I've seen many that fit pretty closely with what I'm looking for (a handful just a teensy bit over in price) and honestly, I need to narrow my list down. Seeing specific recommendations would go a long way. I've looked through the threads and do have a couple (most of the ones in the threads are bigger or pricier though).

Any help you all could give would be great! Thanks is advance!

Take a look at vacationneardisney.us. I don't know about seeing fireworks, but we have rented from Shane twice. the prices are great and the homes are very, very nice.

Id definately book a.s.ap for February-it is a very popular time for snowbirds and I am always booked early for all of Feb by one guest.
Yes,you can see the fireworks from some homes in my community-I think its those facing lake.I cant imagine you could see the fireworks from each home on a community as they are not all facing the same direction.?
Im glad there arent many negative threads about villas-I cant see why there would be;especially the ones you book direct from the owner.

Have a great holiday,
Lynn

also try www.vrbo.com "vacation rentals by owner" and you can rent directly from the owner - I have seen some homes on there with fireworks visability

Thanks so far everyone. I really would love to hear about some specific homes. PM or post please!
I've looked at the sites mentioned above and they're great! Seriously though, so far I have well over 50 nice homes on my "short" list! they are all so nice on the web sites that I don't know how to whittle it down. It would really help to hear from people about what homes they've heard/experienced that they love/hate!

The complaints I have had at the home we own were as follows.
1. No local taxi #,s
2. How to use phone to call long distance
3. Spa to hot
4. The phone # for the home
5. Gas grill (home now has one)
6. We do not want to leave
I can honestly say this has been it so far and we have owned our home for 20 months now.

Actually, not many homes will have views of the fireworks. Here is a map that shows some of the developments in relation to the parks.

As for booking next February- I'd actually wait. There are so many homes available. I booked for my parents who went for a week in January and didn't even start looking until November. At least 60% of the one's they were interested in were available. Also, by that point many of the owners were going w/ their lowest prices to rent them out.

My family and I are renting from http://www.vrbo.com/46814 this June. We haven't rented from her before, but haven't had a bad experience with any of our rentals thus far, so I'm optimistic. The woman who I've been dealing with is very nice and extremely helpful.

i agree that there are few homes that will have any real view of the fireworks. A good free spot to watch them at MK is across the lake from the Polynesian.

The main issue people raise with me about our Vacation Villa is the lack of a shuttle service. Quite frankly, before we bought ours, we never found any of the hotels off property had shuttle service that suited us.
