We just got our paperwork yesterday, and I've already planned 4 vacations over the next 2 years!

- Poly in Dec 06,
- SSR in June 07,
- SSR, with MAYBE an effort to get VWL or BCV or BWV, in early Dec 07 (to sqeeze out a 3rd trip with the APs),
- SSR/VB combo in June 08 (probably just for waterparks and DtD/relaxation).

And I'm fighting off a nasty case of addonitis!

BTW, anybody interested in renting points from my Sept 08 UY? :rotfl2:

To get maximum use out of your points, you really do need to think and plan ahead. We have a fairly good idea out to 2009.

Our Poly stay will be on points. I made a ressie with AAA in January, and shortly thereafter began seriously thinking about DVC. With the ability to bank the 05UY points, I'm going to cancel the current ressie and actually made one thru MS today for the Poly.

The whole family had their heart set on the Poly for our quick Christmas-season trip, but after that we'll use points for DVC only.

We still have not decided if we will go to DL in 2008 or WDW, or maybe cruise again, so we have no plans for those points yet.

I have a vague idea, but it is the next vacation that is up in the air. Because of the extra 2005 banked points, and because we just got back from a non-DVC WDW vacation, we're trying to squeeze two trips in one year somewhere. Here is the tentative plan:

Nov 2006 (booked) or possibly change to February 2007: SSR 1 bedroom, or maybe VWL if we can get it
August 2007: HHI (fingers crossed, hope we'll get it)
August or October 2008: SSR grand villa, woo hoo

2009 is up in the air. We'll borrow most of those points for the 2008 GV if we do that, so we'll see if we skip a year or just borrow from the next or whatever. Of course, we'll probably have added on by then :rotfl:

Dang, we're only planned out to 2007. We are doing a 1 bedroom for 1 week early december 2006 and then getting a 1 bedroom in october 2007 for food and wine festival. We also have rented out 56 points to someone who has rented from us before and needed the points, that will nearly pay for our APs. So now it's just airfare and food :)

My trips have a pattern which I guess is a plan, but always subject to change:
Buy an annual pass every 2 years
Take a food and wine October trip every year...per the pass...plan one trip a week earlier then the next trip.
On the years I have a pass, book a week at Disney for spring break and a week(each) in July at both HH and Disney
On the years I have no pass, book a week at HH or Vero for springbreak and a week in July at HH if desired or go somewhere 'different' for a change
Some years I will also do Thanksgiving at HH or Disney if I feel like it or even Xmas.
Upon retirement, the cycle will change and I will do January trips to Disney, which I really love!

Totally...just don't expect the plans to "hold". I wrote down my "original" plans... but since then, we have sold some contracts, add-on at others, moved our real "home", and quit my job (which required I travel off school-season). Okay...TOTAL change of plans.

But, dreaming was a LOT of fun!!

BTW-OP enjoy using your points at the Poly. We plan to do that too someday. We have used points at FW, CR, and CBR in the past and have no regrets. To me, I would rather make the ressie than rent and try to find the best cash deal. Afterall, we bought the points to use.

We got 4 visits out of our Annual Passes, they we so worth it.

Working on our first child right now, so that might be it for a while. Banking and renting for the next few years. But I'm sure we'll plan 4 to 5 tips at once again.

You are all such better planners than I am!! We bought into the DVC last summer. We were in WDW in August and they sold us with the whole "You can get FPs for anything while your boys play video games" ploy. At the time, we were staying at the FW cabins and while some people may love them, they weren't so much for me. I'm from NY, Long Island, to be exact, did I mention that??

Anyhow, we decided that the money we so carefully saved for vacations each year would be much better invested in DVC (discuss if you must). So we bought in, but we only bought 160 points, so we don't have much wiggle room with our points!! We have 3 boys (9,7, and 4), so we need some space. Well, DH and I need space, maybe not so much the boys! We're mostly planning on 2 BR villas.

Given the 2BR villa aspect, we're only going to be able to go every 2 years. Did I mention that I'm trying to figure out how to pay off the 160 points so we can get more??? No, I guess not. But that's what I'd like to do.

Right now, we're planning on a somewhat unplanned return to WDW in August of this year. DH is a teacher who refuses to go to WDW on "school" vacations, so we're stuck going in the summer heat. We're staying in the BWV and I'm very excited!!

So, all of this, did I also mention I talk too much, to say that I can't plan anything sooner than 2008!! I'd love, love, love to go for Christmas, but I'm not sure that's a realistic goal. So, sometimes we get separate Easter and Passover school breaks here on LI, and I looked at the long range calendar and discovered that this is the case in 2008. I'm thinking that this could work for 2008, but it'd depend on the school calendars!

So I have plans for Summer 2006, but nothing past that!! How sad am I??

When I say I've planned, it's all vague. In fact this hypothetical Grand Villa trip we have planned for 2008 with my sister's family... they don't even know about that. We just got back from a trip with them. They had a great time but are claiming they won't be back for 5 years. I predict they'll get the bug again in a 4-5 months. :) Then I can tell them they have a Grand Villa waiting for them in late 2008 if they want it.

Honestly, I just can't figure out when the next trip will be. My husband looks at me like I'm nuts since we just got back. It hasn't sunk in we're committed. We'd like to start making August our regular time. Problem is, this August is a little too soon; but we have to go before our points expire next July 2007.

I'm kind of kicking myself for not upgrading to an AP when we visited this month. But I digress.

There might be a trip in early March 2007, but not sure. I know in April I have to go to Vegas for a conference and not sure if I'll just go do the work thing or if we'll both go and turn it into a vacation. I definately would like to go before the APs expire in March 07.

We plan to go in October every year from now until our contract expires. So, I guess in that sense we have those planned out thru 2054. :teeth:
However, I don't technically consider my vacations "planned" until I have ressies and plane tickets.

Gosh, I planned and planned and added on and added on, and then DS and family said they would like to go to Disney with us and the rest of family, so that's our August trip. That only leaves us with 146 points out of 550 for '07, :sad: so I can't plan much, we need to take a break and let points accumulate.

I really really want to get on another Members Cruise, so we do need to accumulate some points. Can't really plan if we don't know when it will be!

However, our '07 spring break cruise (Carnival) allows us to spend 1 night at WDW after it and so I can hardly wait until April, when I can book my first '07 ressie.

In our non-Disney vacation plans, we've planned to Memorial weekend '07, going to Las Vegas/Grand Canyon!

Summer/72 offsite, summer/75 polyesian, 9/2000 ASmov, 6/04 CB, 6/05 SSR, 11/05 OKW, 1/06 BCV, 5-06 VWL

When we were down in 2000 I saw the kiosk for DVC but didn't have time to take the tour, we were leaving that day. In 2004 we took the Keys to the Kingdom tour and when it was over they let us back in the park right where the DVC is on Main street. So we took the tour. They promised us a bunch of those FP's, which were great. We did the math and coulnd't find the catch. Actually still can't find the catch. Don't get me wrong DVC is probably the most expensive time share on the planet, but we all know Disney is not a cheap place to go anyway. In 2000 the DVC was for either the VWL or BCV and was only for 43 years. So in 2004 it was for 50 yrs, a much better bargain. They gave us our money back for CB so it was even less than advertised. 3 trips in with another to go. At least this year is worth it. We are also discussing a early December Grand Villa trip with family and friends. We were also going to go in april for a long weekend but could never get off at the same time to do it.

I'm with you on the hypothetical GV thing (see, I'm getting to know the abbreviations). We're going with the boys and my DM in August, but my DMIL would love to come with us sometime in the future. She was supposed to come with us last summer, but couldn't because of the arrival of DN. So DSIL decided to make it up to her by taking her a week ago.

So we were discussing options and she asked me about getting a large place for lots of family. I told her about the GVs and she seemed interested. Me, not so sure. I'm not sure I can handle the big family vacation thing. It might mess with my obsessive planning and the need to plan every detail of my vacation. What if someone didn't want to follow my plan??

So potentially, we could use some of our points and some cash for a GV at some point in the future. Anyone who doesn't want to follow my plans though is strictly on her own though!!

My guide told me today we are all approved - just waiting for final papers in the mail...(we bought in 2 weeks ago) I already booked Mothers Day this May at BWV with my daughter and Oct '06 with my :love: at home - SSR...I'll be booking Jan '06 ( quick weekend w/my sister) at the 7 month window ( hopefully WLV) and then on paper I'm all set for Oct '07 ....life has too many surprises at this point for me to contemplate any further...of course, we can dream though! so many places, so few points! :rotfl: oh well, guess we'll have to buy more down the road abit!

pps/ bpmorley - as far as those abbreviations, allearsnet.com has a complete list BUT I decipher those as D standing for Disney ...so you have Dh (husband) DD (daughter) DS (son) and so on...I'm sure some of the other members can give you better definitions but that's how I read them...

Only four years? I am so worse - I keep planning about 10 years ahead, then I change my mind. Then I think wouldn't it be great to do more, and maybe I will do an add on next year. Never ending but a lot of fun.

You are not crazy!!! We have been members for 12 years and still plan future DVC vacations. I will say though that we have been booking closer to the vacation than we used too!! The family is getting "more mature" and schedules are changing, so we have become much more flexable.

We used to always stay at the Poly before DVC.....it is my favorite place and full of memories of our children when they were young, so it has a special place in my heart and always will. Many times I have thought of using DVC to stay at the Poly, but we are now too spoiled with the Villas and the "home" feeling. We always go and visit the Poly on every WDW vacation.

Thanks to alot of people on these boards I called and spoke with someone at Disney today about buying DVC . They're sending stuff out to me . I went through what my trips would be for disney in the next 3-4 years ( trips I would have taken normally ) to get an estimate on how many points I would need . Every time I think I have it figured out I think , If I just had 20 more points it would give me a whole week here , and if I'm doing a whole week here lets make it a whole week with this vacation and did YOU know if I got just a couple more points I could go from studio to 1 bedroom . You all know how it goes :goodvibes So in any event with thinking about some possible trips the next few years I think I'll need 200 points ( MAYBE :hyper: )
with those I may get......
