European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

Thought l'd post a link for the new European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which is the replacement for the old E111 (ceased 31/12/05). It enables UK nationals to claim reduced cost/free medical care while visiting the EU. This does NOT replace travel insurance (which you would be well advised to have as well).

If you need it in a hurry complete it on online, hubby did ours on a Saturday and they arrived Tuesday morning, my sister did hers through the post office and they took just over 2 weeks to arrive.

Excellent, Thanks for that I hadn't even given my old E111 a second thought.

I have just applied for mine online and it says it should be despatched within 7 working days.

Yes we did ours online too and they arrived within a matter of days.
