We will begin our trip in San diego ending at disneyland. We are staying at DL hotel but are looking for input on hotels in the Mission Valley area of San Diego. We usually stay at Days Inn type hotels when we travel and are looking for one a little special for this trip. Any suggestions or input would be great.

We really like the Bahia in Mission Bay. You can see a picture of the hotel at this site:

They are right on Mission Bay and have a private beach on the bay. They are located across the street from Belmont Park, which is a favorite with our kids and is easily within walking distance to the beach. We love staying there. Nice rooms, nice landscaping, kids love the pool (heated w/a great jacuzzi). We have stayed there 4 times now and it would be difficult to go anywhere else. Also, get-away-today travel has some great prices and are very accommodating. We have booked our upcoming trip to DL through them and I was very happy with their service.
Close to SeaWorld, too. Have a great time on your trip.

I heard about this on the news this morning. Loews Coronado rooms @ $89 per night.
Here is the website:
Loews Coronado (http://www.loewshotels.com/hotels/sandiego/default.asp)
Also found The Hotel del Coronado for $150 per night.
Hotel Del (http://www.hoteldel.com/)
Good luck :)

I am curious as to why you've selected the Mission Valley area. There are many great areas that are centrally located to San Diego's popular attractions. Mission Valley is a good choice though. I personally love the Mission Bay Hilton. It's close to everything with a great view of Sea World and it's right on the water. I like Tink33's suggestion of Loews. Coronado is spectacular. $89. a night is unheard of. There is also a Days Inn located in Old Town. That's just a 5 minute drive to/from the airport.:p

The loews is one of my very favorite hotels. I also like the Marriott Coronado which can generally be had on Priceline in the off-season for around $75.

We are staying in San Diego at the Paradise Point Resort because of the activities they advertise: bike, kayak, peddleboat rentals. It's pricey but deep discounts are available. Another place we considered but couldn't get becasue it was full is Crystal Pier - a row of cottages on a pier over the water.
