I'm sure this thread has been here before. But we are thinking of changing our cell phones to Sprint. It seems, years ago, that we got bad covereage at Disney. Can someone help us out and tell us how their sprint coverage has been?
Last year we used Nextel and it was wonderful. But costs are higher and we are looking at a Sprint plan. I realize that Sprint bought Nextel but there is a difference in the plans.

I live here right now, and Sprint works just fine 95% of the time. It doesn't work all that well inside of large buildings (Space Mtn, Pirates, etc) but otherwise works great.

We used Sprint on our two trips in 2005 and had no problems with reception. We definitely needed them to keep track of each other when we split up, and to call back home a few times. Hopefully you'll have no problems either!

We used Sprint phones in the parks in May, October, and about 4 weeks ago in January. We didn't specifically monitor the reception to see how it was, but we were never out of service when we tried to use them, and got good reception when we did.

I will agree with everyone else ~ have never had a problem with Sprint service at WDW.

FWIW, Disney CM's have Nextel walkie talkies so, given that Nextel & Sprint are one & the same, I would assume (yes, I know assuming is dangerous but...) they use the same towers thereby giving you good service.
We use Nextel & DKids have a Boost Mobile (Nextels pay-as-you-go) & we have never had any issues in WDW.

Nextel and Sprint are one company, however, the phones use a completely different transmission technology (how the phones "talk" to the towers), and as of right now, Nextel phones can't use Sprint towers, and vice versa.
There are Nextel towers at or near each one of the parks, but at the moment, not true with Sprint.
All that being said, I've got several friends that use sprint regularly at WDW.
