We have reservations 1 evening of our stay at Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge. I read somewhere that there is a trail that connects the campground to the Lodge. Is this true? How long is the walk? We'll have an 8 yr old w/us.
What is the fastest way there from the campground?
Thanks

As I remember the walk is just shy of a mile. Bring flashlights as there are no lights on the trail.
The fastest way is by boat, or even faster is to drive over in your own car. You get free parking at any resort with your FW stay.

Make sure you wear a Universal T-shirt and bring your cell phone. Best way to get there is boat, or you could take the bus. I wouldn’t want to walk back on trail after eating all that food. I would say trail is about 1 mile long.

I think the boat is not only the easiest way to WL, but also the most fun, especially for kids.

Actually walking the trail after dinner is a perfect way to walk off dinner!!
However, it is about a mile, and you do need a flashlight!
The trail begins at Ft. Wilderness across from the stables.
The trail begins at Wilderness Lodge down the sidewalk past the bus stops.

You can always walk there and take the boat back. :)

It does get really dark on that trail. We have walked it and road our bikes after dark. I wouldn't recommend walking it after dark. There is a lot of wildlife and we have had deer come out to surprise us. It is a very nice walk during the day though.

It's not the deer! It's those armadillos rustling about in the leaves. They are creepy. That's from walking from WL back to FW at dusk. Great walk though.

At least you won't have to worry about those killer peacocks ...
We have biked it several times, but never walked it. Nice little adventure.

You can also take the bus. It goes right from the bus stop at the settlement area to WL.

It is a nice serene walk. I walked it several times during our Aug 05 vacation.
