Definitely, we always make a couple of visits there.
It isn't to everyone's taste but we like it, an ice cool drink just watching people go by is just great.
Last March we got talking to these guys from Minnesota , we had a brilliant evening (Josh fell asleep) :)

If you do go it's much better (and busier) at the weekends, often midweek it can be fairly quiet and it just isn't the same.

We didnt like it at all just not our thing. It was totally empty when we went felt a bit like a ghost town but think you should give it a try maybe we just chose a bad day :sunny:

We went, and we all really enjoyed it. It was nice to get away from the parks. We went on a Saturday night, when the cars do the parade. The boys loved it. You only need a couple of hours. Yes it is really old fashioned and really touristy. But if you like old cars, you'll enjoy it. Some of them are really beautifull.

We will be going again this year.

We love old town and always have a trip on a fri or sat evening. It is really quiet in the day and i wouldn't recommend going then. :)

I think it is and the kids love it! Some of the shops are really different and it great just to stroll around if you've got a couple of hours free. :sunny:

Agree absolutely - word for word!

I have been to orlando 6 times and always visit Old town, best to go at night time. Car parades are worth seeing, best place to watch is in the open space between where the main street is split by the road as the car fumes tend to linger , worth at least one visit.

I love old town. Go on a fri or sat night when the car parades are on! One night is meant to be classic cars and the other night is custom cars but i dont know which way round!

We had a good time it is very different from the parks. Just a totally different experience. A lot of character watching and I do not mean the costumed kind. Very interesting.

my son is into classic cars, he has an old volvo, and I am pretty sure that he would like to take a look at these - will it be advertised - also looking at a map old town does not seem so far from Windsor Palms where we are staying

since he will spend the rest of his holiday with his wife,2 daughters and mum and dad doing Disney things ...which he will love of course........ I really think we should make an effort to do this for him....is there a website or anyone know more info....

We went to the classic car show on the Saturday night, It was fantastic, saw the general lee and it blew its horn, just like the Dukes of Hazzard. Everyone in our group enjoyed the whole thing. :cool1:

We usually visit Old Town once during our trip. If you are near that area on the 192 it is certainly worth a visit. Not sure if I would go out of my way to get to it though.

Just a word of warning, weekends it does get very busy, and whilst it's much better to go then - in fact it can be too quiet in the week really - parking is not always that easy.

You may have to go slightly past the main entrance and park there.
Close by is a KFC if you go in that way and follow the road around , you will find ample parking spaces.

As Johnny says, try and get there in good time before the parade. We got there about half an hour before and we ended up parking on a bit of waste ground at the back, and even then we were lucky to find a space.

Saturday nights are great for the cars, but if anyone in your family is interested in motorbikes, Thursday night is Bike Night, which is also really good. Not as crowded as Saturday but still has a good atmosphere.

Personally I think Old Town is going down the pan. Like many people we tend to look in on virtually every visit but on the last two we have seen a difference. The last time was a midweek evening and there were people who were drunk and a few who looked to be under the influence of other things and they were being a nuisance. There was no security anywhere in sight.
You should also be aware of a scam that has been happening. When you go to leave you are followed and asked for money for a 'donation' before you get in your car. Happened to a friend of mine and I recently heard of it happening to someone else.
Best time to visit I would suspect is on the nights of the car parades but at other times make sure you are alert.

hmm sound advice, you do have to be careful - to be honest I have been midweek and the atmosphere just isn't the same, hence we always go at the weekend.
