WDW Photo Contest?

Ok, I am gonna try this a little differently. It looks as if I am getting quite a few views but no one wants to really say anything. :confused3 Maybe a poll will be easier. Let me know what you think.

There are many things planned for not just the photography board but other boards as well. When these plans have been finalized, I will be sure to post upcoming events that may be of interest.

Having contests, to me, just sets people up for feeling dejected.

It's fun to share, but when it becomes a competition, then it loses some of the "magic".

See, I guess I've never seen it that way. My photos have never been the
"top notch" quality photography as some of the other people in these contests, actually I only got tied for third place once, and that was the best I did. I just enjoyed entering my photos, getting to look at everyone else's photos, and voting on which ones I thought were the best.

With me it's not about winning (or losing), but to see what's considered "the best" by the populous. That way I can further learn the populous' perspectives.

That kind of the thing behind me wanting to do this. I love seeing other people's photos and figuring out what everyone else thinks are the best. Gives me something to practice for!! :banana:

I didn't realize one needed to be asked at first, because I didn't really think it was any different than the rest of the threads posted on here, but one of the moderators told me I needed to so I did.

The way I looked at it is I would start a new thread every week giving people a full week to enter their photos, at the end of that week I would post those photos in a poll to be voted on for a full week, and then I would post the winners. From talking to AZJazzy our photo board moderator it seems like they are thinking in much bigger terms than I was. I wasn't thinking it would be any different than all of the other threads were people are entering pictures and adding polls on the rest of the website, and it would be something fun. I definately don't see why starting a photo contest is any different than all of the word association games on the Community board. It's just a game for people to have fun.

Nothing globally affecting the DIS overall, or even this board, just a simple poll. No official contest, no prizes, nothing, just a poll. I know Jeff was out for a week or so and is now back. I did look at his posts since he returned, as well as before, and unless he has said something in private as to not being able to do a simple poll type thing like this on the photo board, I (just me thinking out loud here) would not think a poll would require pre-approval from a wm or Pete. :confused3 Maybe I am missing some larger idea that you had. Again, :confused3

Nope you didn't misunderstand my plans at all. That's why I didn't think it would need approval of any kind first.
