Ok, so my whole school has this long weekend this weekend, its called a "head's weekend" and everyone has to be off campus from today after classes till monday night. but i am in something called Model UN, and our big trip is this weekend. We are going to Yale University to basically do what the United Nations does, only with people our age. I was wondering if anyone has ever been in Model UN before...

I participated in a Model Legislature a year or two ago, which I would assume would be similar to a Model UN. It was a three day event, with a welcome dinner and planning Friday, a tour of the city and a debate on Saturday, and a longer debate on Sunday. It was a good experience, and a good opportunity to meet new people. I would recommend it.

(trust me, we have all checked it out, they are legit) Right now shes at the shoot. :confused3 Only two people out of our school got picked, she was one of htem. the other isn't going.

My DD now 18 did Model UN a couple of years ago. She loved it had a great time. They had time to explore Boston some too. Her favorite part of the trip? Newbury Street!!! :confused3 She's a college freshman now and is going to declare Poli. Sci. for a major.
Have a great time!

My sister did it for two years and she said it was fun, but really all she did was sit around and talk to her friends in order to avoid the overly zealous delegates. :goodvibes

Have an awesome time! :)

um..thats not really what i was talking about.lol. Its a remake of the United Nations. but only it has high school kids doing all of the deligating.

haha, thats kind of what I did. The whole thing was held at Yale University in New Haven, CT. I was lucky to be in a commitee where i could have someone else from my school with me. There were over 100 deligates in my committee, and less than half were actually doing work on the "problems". I was part of the DISEC committee so our topics were terrorism with radioactive material, and child soldiers. But i didnt really do anything. when you are there, you are required to send notes to people rather than getting up and talking to them, cuz that would be too noisy, and there was always someone in the front of the room tallking about their country's position or w/e. but i sat in the balcony and just passed notes with random people that werent paying attention like me. it was fun. we got a lot of free time to walk around New Haven. It was fun and i think im going to go back next year.
