Prima Flowers Swap--CLOSED

Hi Ladies, :wave2:

This is my first time hosting a swap, but I've participated in many here on the DIS.

This is a Prima Flowers Swap, it's pretty easy to do, so anyone can participate! The rules are really simple:

You pick your color and give each person a certain amount of petals. All you have to do is put each person's in a small baggie and write color, group number and your user name on the outside. That is it!

Because there are different sizes of flowers, we've come up with a "scale" of sorts. 30 Small, 20 Medium or 10 Large. I have no problem with mixing and matching sizes, just make sure it is pretty much equal so it's fair for everyone.

Because each bottle contains several colors, when you sign up, you can use very generic colors, and just give a few of each to each person. If you have to order them and are unsure of your colors yet, just sign up and let me know later on which color you've chosen.

I found this as a reference of how many flowers are in the Milk Bottle style flowers, so hopefully it will give you guys an idea:

small--about 400 to a bottle
medium--about 320 to a bottle
large--about 200 to a bottle

I'l start out with a group of 10, and add another group if there's more interested. I'll try to keep the list updated frequently.

Very soon, I'll send everyone a pm with my mailing info. I would like everyone to put the flowers in an individual baggie then a large baggie for each set. Please mark the group number and your dis name. Please send a self-addressed stamped return envelope somewhere in the package. I think the easiest way to do this is have everyone weigh the package at the post office and send that much and one more .39 stamp. I don't think it should weigh that much more when I send it. That way no one should way over pay, and you've sent to much, I'll send whatever extra back. The people in multiple groups may be better off sending a priority stamp and I can just put it in a priority envelope.

I believe you need to sign up to 2peas, which kind of like signing up on the dis (pick a username, etc.) It'll ask for your addy and what not. :)

It looks like they're sold out of quite a few colors, but poke around, and you'll see they have quite a few in stock, too.

I just bought the valentine and summer ones. I seperated out the valentine ones and there are about 9-15 of each size and each color (4 colors in med, large and exlarge) so if everyone got 1 of each size/color that would be 12 each, but that would be all of them and when I look at the colors now I'm not sure I want to share all of them.(lol :rotfl2: ) I may have to keep these bottles and go back and buy some of the single color ones. I will let you know what I decide. decisions-decisions :confused3

I've got a of bottle of small mustard Primas more tan/cream type yellow that I could use in the second group or in the third group if you do a third group. Go ahead and change my colors around if you need to for variety.

I've ordered the Halloween mix, Summer 1, and Large Vintage. If you end up doing three groups, put me in all three (if there's room). If you just do two groups, pick two of the above and I'll keep the third for myself. And, feel free to move my colors around to whichever group fits best.

As far as I know when they say petals, they mean actual pieces. The bottles are nice sized and the flowers are pretty teeny.

I am going to pack up my Primas and then use the rest to sort my eyelets and brads by color (my daughter recently dumped my entire stash out so everything needs to be re-sorted!).

It's a good way to sort ribbons and fibers too. I am thinking of maybe taping each baggie to a piece of transparency or something so I can view it all at once.

I think it would reduce the shipping cost slightly too, just because of lack of bulk of the bigger ziplocs.

You can get most any size ziploc on ebay... I've gotten as small as 1x1.5. There is 3x3, 4x4, and the larger ones that you can use to save 12x12 layouts in!

Also, check your Michaels for small ziplock bags. I found mine on the end of an aisle near the yarn area. I have also seen them at Walmart in the sewing area.

You seem stressed out, remember, this is supposed to be fun! First of all, you have plenty of time to get these and get them to me, so if you want to wait for you LSS to get them in, that's ok! I don't have any experience with ordering through twopeas or the other sites, so no help there. But I know lots of ladies here have ordered from online. I don't know about the #4s, but I have #1, #2 and #3. The #2 and #3s are big Hydrangeas and Daisies and the #1s are small and even smaller, great for layering. There has to be like 500 flowers in the #1 bottle. I did a mix of 4 Hydrangeas and then a bunch of the #1s in my baggies. HTH. :goodvibes

Mixed colors and sizes are fine too. Mine are mixed colors and sizes too.

Mine are also stacked in the little baggies and I found them at Walmart for 97 cents. Michaels also had them. I'm not sure why I didn't notice them before. Now I look like a dummy in the eyelet/brad swap with my GIANT snack baggies with those teeny eyelets in them. :rolleyes:

My good friend PBLM and another buddy go to Stampin Up card making once a month. Ever since they started going, they've been trying to get me to go with them. I told them I couldn't because it was a cult and they'd try to brainwash me into buying more and more stuff and I have too much scrapbooking stuff to being with, they can't get me hooked on stamps too!! :lmao: She almost got me to go last night with her, and I was really close, but I had a migraine and cancelled at the last minute.

I purchased the Easter bottle and there are two different sizes in it. Also, there wasn't quite 200- I want to say my bottle had 183.

No, No, seriously....Everything is together so as soon I receive yours, I can have them mailed out the next day. We had set a due date for April 1st, so I don't think anyone is going to be too upset if they receive their packages a couple of days late. I've participated in swaps where it took over a month to get the stuff back, so I think you guys have all done an awesome job!! :cheer2:

For my first time hosting, I really think this swap went very well. Thanks to everyone for the great communication and little extras your sent. I have wonderful news!! I received Shauna's in the mail today so we are all ready to mail!! :cheer2: And because today was the official due date, you weren't even late! That is some speedy service from CA to NY in 3 days!

Unfortunately I didn't actually get my mail until about a half hour ago b/c we were out all day, but all the packages are filled, sealed, stamped and ready to ship!! They will be mailed out on Monday morning. I'll start a new thread for you guys to post when you receive them back. I hope you are as excited as I am!
