Someone at work told me that she heard Disney was letting guests stay for free at the resorts with the purchase of a theme park admission ticket. I can't believe that they're THAT desperate to fill the rooms. Any one else hear this????

I don't know if it is true for Disney, but I definitely heard on the news that it is true for Universal.

I heard this, too...secondhand. I've been looking around for confirmation and details.

If it is true, it puts those high hotel prices in perspective. I can't see Disney offering a deal that loses them money overall. So that would mean that the profits that come from admission, food and merchandise would also cover Disney's cost for the hotel room. That would be some rate of return when a guest pays the full rack rate!

If it is true that might make me try and go, even though we're saving money for an England/DLP trip. Free hotel combined with $120 RT airfare from Seattle = one cheap vacation...but if it's true for Universal maybe it's still worth a trip!

You better believe Disney is losing money on this deal. they need to get people in the parks or there will be no more DisneyWorld.

This is Universal, Disney is not doing this.

I read on another board (RADP) that Disney is offering 45% off rooms until 12/25.

Yes, WDW is offering up to 45% off on some rooms until 12/25. However, these promos have been out since early Aug or sooner. There were ads with codes in many newspapers' travel section including the Washington Post. I booked ASMo for Dec at $59 a night back in Aug. When I booked, moderates were starting at $99 with the code. Travel has been off for some time but now things are much worse. Please, let me know if you get any info on free lodging with the purchse of tickets. That might be just the thing to allow us to go through with our trip.

Making the final payment on our November trip, I asked if any special deals were going on, better than what I had. The castmember told me that many rumors are going around, most are not related to Disney, but Universal as mention before. The free room never was about Disney. Any specials were annouced prior to September 15 and are still the only ones offered. Sort through all of the stories and find the true ones.
