Good Morning! As promised, here is a poll for the shirt for the Columbus Event...as suggested though, it could be generic in that we could leave the name of the event off the shirt, or we could add it on...you pick! Secondly, we need to figure out what type of shrits we should like to get.....tshirts, long sleeved tshirts or sweat shirts....so there is that...although we could go with one color and all choose what sytle shirt we would like...so here goes, my attempt at a poll.

Option 1http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b148/DisneyTShirts/diswishpenguin.jpg

Option 2http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b148/DisneyTShirts/wishpeng.jpg

Option 3http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b322/ohmom/pengiun.jpg

Option 4http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a190/bethbuchall/PenguinShirt1.jpg

Option 5http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a190/bethbuchall/Penguinshirt2.jpg

So please pick one of the 5 choosing numbers 1-5....I will leave this open for votes for a week and next week I will plan on ordering some shirts.....so let the voting begin and please let me know if I have forgotten any designs...thanks!

Hi Liz,

Great choices! I picked the first design, but they are all good! I'd prefer a "generic" shirt without dates or events for myself. Any way the shirt can be cool max?

since I'm not doing the event, but I like option #2 (although all the designs are good!).

Hey Liz,

If there is going to be a generic shirt, maybe you should change the title of the poll to include all WISHers.....

They are all cute. I too think that the shirt should be generic for all WISH run/walk 'club' people and I also prefer coolmax or similar wicking fabric. I picked short sleeve because CDC is in Aug but would maybe get a second one in long sleeve since it's only short sleeve weather a couple months a year.

I'm not going but wanted to say what creative ideas!!! I especially love Opt 2! I just LOVE that face, it's calling to my inner penguin ;) Opt 5 has me cracking up with that sign LOL

Way to go to those who came up with all of them. Very creative people!

Best of Luck to all of you going, I hope you all have a really awesome race!!!

They need to create a Penguin wearing Mouseears for a smiley ;)

I will have to see what I can do to get some pricing on cool max, as the shirts I am taking about for Columbus are not cool max since the weather will most likely be cold.....

I will go ahead and change the title to all WISHERs and maybe Carrie can put me in touch with the guy that did the shirts for Disney and maybe we can do some sort of standing order....

Gonna have to go check into all of this...after I shower. Just got my 6 miles in and I am pooped!

Thanks for the great input....and thanks to Kate, Molli and Beth for the great designs!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Hi Liz,

I love them all, but number one is my favorite. Do you know how the logo will be put on the shirt? silk-screen, iron-on, etc? I ask because there may be ink/dye color considerations.

I would also prefer no race names/dates and coolmax, wicking material!

Great job!

Hi Liz,

I also voted for number 1. Love it - I'm so excited to be joining in this event next year. :goodvibes

Sunny,

I have thought about the same exact thing about color.....

For those that want just a plain old cotton tshirt.....those can be done via ironon....not worried about that......even have a friend with a professional machine to take care of that.

But for the others that want a wicking shirt, they are going to have to be screened.....there is also the possiblity of getting the penguin done in all grayscale so we are just dealing with one color for screening....of course since the lime green shirts were such a hit at the Disney event, I do believe that color is gonna have to be the only good choice as far as shirt color....and then the details of one sided shirt or two....oh the details.....

Please keep voicing opinions here....I am glad to hear what others are saying!!

All the designs are really cute! I picked #2 because the penguins were just soooo cute!

I, too, prefer without race dates or logos , and wicking material would probably be best.

Thanks, Liz, for getting this together.

They're fabulous! What a great idea, Liz! It would be cool to have shirts that are for the Dis WISH team, regardless of event. I picked #2, but are there any concerns for copyright with John Bingham?

Mel,

Not completely sure about copyright issues....and techinically, that is not his JBR penguin or motto....but I could always send an email to him with the design and see what he has to say about it...if he says it is a no go...we move on to something else.....Good idea about asking about that though. :thumbsup2

Hi Liz, Thanks for setting this up. I voted for #2, but I liked #1 as well. I really liked the shoe on #1, but I wasn't so crazy about the font (with the hearts dotting the i's). I know - that's probably a guy thing, but if the font from #2 was on #1 I would have gone that way because I really liked the shoe.

I'd also love a coolmax wicking shirt, that's generic that I could use for training or other races. Lime green would be great. Also a good way to stand out from the crowd.

I love number 1

Hmm, Dave does have a point - the lettering on Option 1 is a little bit girlie. I wonder how the penguin superimposed over the shoe print will look if it is all one color....that is still my first choice though. I'd love to see it on the back of a shirt with the WISH 2006 that Sunny designed on front.

I picked number 1 too. I was also informed by DH that he gets one this year too since he is going to be doing the 1/2 this coming year.

Just a cuople side notes that popped in my head. I love COUrage to Start, but that's the name of one of the penguin's books. That with teh penguin may be too much. JMO.

Also, if you're wearing your shirt as an outside layer, cotton vs cool max is probably not a big deal. However, even if it's cold, having CM on teh inside helps alot to keep the moisture oof you skin.

The shirts look awesome Liz!

Thanks for all the input...I did send the Penguin himself an email about the shirt ideas. I haven't heard anything back yet, but I will give it a couple of days and try again. I also need ot get pricing on the cool max shirts...hope to do that later in the week.

Thanks again for all the ideas and input! This is going to be one great collective effort!!

I voted for #1.

I would also want cool max and to make it a general shirt rather than race specific. I would be very proud to wear it in any local races too!

Very cool designs!

THANKS to Webmaster Kathy for reopening our poll!!

ok - i voted for number 2 -- but I would rather see "www.DISboards.com" because i dont' think anyone with know what "DIS WISH" stands for -- if they see the website it may make more sense and then they can ask what "WISH" is if they are really nosy

i picked long sleeve t-shirt b/c it'll be chillier for the columbus 1/2 -- and i have lots of short sleeve event t-shirts. but i'm flexible. i'm also fine with creating a file of the clipart and emailing it to print out and iron on -- or take to a local graphic store

thanks

Thanks Molli and Kathy for reopening the poll.

Since I could, I voted for #1 and #2! I agree with Dave about the font though for #1. I agree about having a change from Dis Wish, maybe we couls have disboards.com WISH Team on it instead. (I had people thinking I was making my steps during the marathon/half marathon weekend for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.)

I picked SS b/c I figured they'd be coolmax if we were ordering. I also figured we could iron on our own on sweatshirts or cotton shirts.

Molli I like your idea of maybe getting to have ours available to have printed if we miss out on the "WISH Team" ordering opportunity.

Still waiting to hear from him...and have sent a second email. If I don't hear something soon, I think for Columbus at least we are just going to have to wing it or something.......I will give it until Friday and then check back with the Columbus folks and see what you guys want to do...OK? :thumbsup2

Hello, I spoke to soemone at JBR Racing yesterday and they said they are THRILLED that we would want to represent in such a way! She needs to double check with the man himself...but she does not see this as a problem and will be calling back for more information about our little group!

She did tell me all about the JBR Racing stuff they have too. Now all of you know that I am of Pooh porportions, and I let her know that too....she said she liked the terminology and said they may just have to do something about only going up to an XL in the race shirts they give in the goodie bags. I KNOW I am not the only Pooh sized person out there and we all know an XL just isn't gonna cut it. :rotfl2: She agreed and said she would have to see what she could do about that as well.

So if the penguin himself has a user name someday on this board....Lily did it!! That is my new answer for everything!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

So once I hear officially...I will let you all know!

Lily will surely be happy to say that she REALLY DID DO THIS........... now some of the others attached her name, I'm not so sure about

The Penquin does seem like just "one of us" doesn't he and "his hired help", too! Helps to makes his philosophy toward walking/running/woggin seem so totally believable for the "regular folk" !

Hey Liz: Just wondered if there was any news or updates about the shirts.

02-17-2006, 08:40 AM
Hey Dave,

I haven't heard anything more about the shirts yet, except what I told you guys earlier. Since they said it should not be a problem and we got the :thumbsup2 I figured we would present John Bingham with a shirt at Columbus...Molli, Lily Pat and I will be wearing a cotton version of the shirt since it is likley to be cold then...if that goes over well, then we could all get the process of coolmax shirts and know that the Penguin was OK with that. Does that sound like a plan?

Anyway that is what I know for now. More later!
