Ok So I know Im reallllly early but I had to start something!
When do codes normally come out?
Do I book a room now then change the code/rate later when one (hopefully) comes out?
Im spoiled last year we had the free dining, sold hubby and I on going and possibly paying for it this year! But dont tell Disney!

Hop on board and count down to your Sept/October trip with me!

Just to avoid the "issues" on the last Sept/Oct watch thread!! Is this watching for Any code for ANY one or are only AP holders invited? Thought the last thread was kind of "taken over". I'm looking for a code (and just trying to have some fun here) but I'm not an AP holder. Am I invited??

Wow, count me clueless as I thought that a "code watch" thread was for any and all codes that are published no matter who they are for.

I'd really like to be able to go to one thread for our dates with ALL of the codes that end up being announced so that I can make the best possible decision, so I hope that's what this thread will be!

I am subscribing to this thread - and quite frankly, I'll take whatever code I can get!! If AP codes come out and they make sense for me, I'll buy the AP. If regular codes come out and they work - count me in!! I vote on this being a general code board for Sept./Oct.!!! Bring 'em ALL on!!!

Make room for me because I'm hopping on board!! I thought about making a reservation now because the waiting is making me crazy but I'm afraid that will lessen my chances of getting a post card or email with a fabulous code attached!! I'm going to try to hold out!! Good luck everybody!!

I'm hoping to get back in September. It will be me and 5 kids. We went last September, NO dining plan, and even though it was HOT, it was so uncrowded that we loved it. We were thinking of going in January 2007, but the kids would rather go this September. So I'll be watching for codes, too!

Oct 28-Nov 4th for us !!

That is as long as we have a good tax refund (read:deposit & getting a good chunk of the trip paid for).
Ofcourse, a GOOD CODE DEAL sure wouldn't hurt :teeth:

Hoping to go for a mother/daughter trip Oct 13-22. I'm not sure I'll be able to stay that long if I'm looking at $85-$100 a night to stay at a value? In Nov of 2004 I got a pin code rate of $49 so the higher price looks pretty painful. Heaven forbid we should stay off-site! :sad2: Here's hoping for some kind of great deal!! I'll be stuck to this thread till fall! :grouphug:

I am also planning a trip for late September / early October. Would it be better to book now and try to change my rev later or just wait and see what the offers will be?

I guess I would be safe booking a value at this point and then later upgrading to a mod / deluxe if a good code were to come out.

Thanks for any advice you might have!

We are hoping to go over Halloween this year (we already have our costumes!) and would like to stay at POR. However, the prices are so much higher for this trip than our last trip in Dec, I was shocked. We got very lucky last year with a discount code and it being value season - saved substantially. I guess I got spoiled.

Hi,

We are looking to return to WDW from Sept 23rd through the 30th. I have not booked anything yet as so far the best I can do for a deluxe is $184.50 a night at the S/D with an AP discount.

Has anyone gotten a deluxe with a AAA rate for less than $200 a night? What are the moderates going for with a AAA rate?

What's Up?

post #1 here. My whole family is headed down from Oct 21-28. Been there in Oct before and that's why I'm going the same time. Weather is good crowds are lower. Unless you go the week they open up Mission: Space and Mickey's Filharmagic. Like me in '03.

Gonna book everything through AAA. I'm planning on going to Pop Century. Is this a good Idea or are there better ways to save some $$? The rest of the fam will be spread all over the parks. I'm going back and forth between Pop and Port Orleans-French Quarter. Would like to go to PO but I'm trying to keep some of the costs down.

Really looking for some suggestions.

LazyDuck--Do you have your own car? Do you plan on spending most of your time in the parks, not at the hotel? If you answer yes then you should be just fine at POP. My family stays at the moderates because we like to take breaks during the day to enjoy the pool. But if you plan on being more commando save your money and stay at a value.

Count me in o this htread, although I am from Canada so the AP and AAA won't apply to me, we do have CAA though. I'll have to check them out. We are going Oct. 8-15 for our honeymoon! Can decide where to stay yet though. I'd love the Poly but way too pricey at regular rate. It will probably be a value or a moderate.

When did they offer the free dining last year, 2005?-- or do you mean 2004?

did they just do that to get back the tourists after the hurricane??

What exactly was the free dining plan that everyone is refering to? :confused3
The free dining plan was a discount code offered for check ins between mid-late August through September and early October. Basically, if you purchased a package with room and tickets, you could add the dining plan to your package for free.
If you staying in a value resort, it was in most cases, an awesome deal and worth paying rack rates for rooms. The awesomeness went down as you moved up in resorts to Moderate or deluxe but it was still pretty good.

For us, a family of 4 who stayed 10 nights, it saved almost $1000!

Hope this helps!

Kelly

Not sure if I totally understand any of this "CODE" stuff.
My husband and I are planning on taking our son in October of 2007. I know it is a while away but to be honest I think it will be here before I know it. 2005 went by fast in this house! Any how I found this DIS Boards place and am sure glad I did.
All this talk about discount codes and AP holders and stuff has me confused though. Where do you get the codes? What do you do with them when you get them? What does "AP" stand for?

So many questions and I am not sure if I am asking them in the correct spot.

Thanks though!

[QUOTE=Molly K]Where do you get the codes?[QUOTE]

The Mail (postal and e)...I think. From what I have been able to figure out, Disney sometimes sends out discount codes to Annual Passholders (aka..."AP") and sometimes other lucky people registered on the Disney website.

I suggest you do some reading. http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html offers some great info about codes. Click on Walt Disney World when you get there and have fun reading.

In a nutshell, Disney offers discount codes to people. Some are for certain people via email or postcard, while others such as Annual Passholders and Fla. residents are offered discounts. They have offered general public codes to anyone, but those codes have been a bit scarce lately.

If a discount comes out, you will see a three letter "code" attached to it. You can call disney and ask if the code works for your dates... again, Mary over at www.mousesavers.com explains it very well...

We are hoping to go for my 40th BD on October 10th --- that is Columbus Day weekend. We went the week after Labor Day in 2005 and Ophelia kept the weather cooler and the crowds were scarce. We had a CM tell us that October the crowds were small - so we (I) decided what better way to stop getting older - than spend my 40th with Mickey!

Now we just need our tax return to come out ok AND I need to keep my job (my office is closing - but I am up for a promotion!) Say alittle prayer for us!

We were VERY SPOILED by the free dining plan last year. We were there Sept 30-Oct 10. We aren't planning a trip until late 2007, but if free dining were to happen again, who knows (I know, I know, it is a VERY long shot!). Does anyone recall when the code for free dining was released (as opposed to valid for) for last fall. I seem to recall that it was early July, but I can't remember!!

What is the FREE dining plan?

Last year when you purchased a Disney package you got the dining portion for free. Dining includes 1 table service, 1 counter service and 1 snack per person/per night. So if you had 2 people staying for 5 nights you had 10 table services meals, 10 counter service meals and 10 snacks. Pretty cool. I don't remember the exact dates the deal was offered but I'm pretty sure it ended October 4.

We have resort reservations made for this October using our AAA discount (10%) but I'll keep a lookout for other discounts. :surfweb:

Hi everyone! I am going up in April for a 4 night MYW + Dining experience and am going to upgrade my park tickets to a Seasonal or Annual pass... I want to *TRY* and get and AP rate for the CR or the POLY with a view of MK around Sept/Oct/Nov (whichever can deliver the cheapest rate) ...do you think I should start reserving the room now? or should I wait? I mean if anything I could always change it for a Moderate resort (or AKL ) What do you guys recomend?

Up until yesterday I had no clue when we'd ever see the "world" again, but I talked to my dh about going in September and he actually seemed receptive. We went for the first time in December with our two kids and my fil. It was great. We still have five days and five plus options left on our tickets and I would love to take the kids to the waterparks. It was too chilly for us in December. I think it reached seventy once while we were there. I haven't officially decided anything yet, but....I'm keeping my eyes open. We've got a great rate at the Doubletree and right now it would cost us the same to stay at Pop and get the ME. I'm rather undecided about the dining. I know we'd have to purchase at least one day tickets and I'm not so sure we'd eat that much with the weather being so hot that time of the year. On the other hand, it would give us the opportunity to eat at a lot of places we wouldn't choose ordinarily. I'm trying to keep the expenses around $2000. I'm looking at about $750 for lodging (Sep. 22-30) and $500 for airfare if I can snag another awesome deal like I did for Dec. The rest is for dining, souveniers, etc... We'll see. Our kids are six and almost two so two and half at the point and almost seven. Not big eaters:) We went all out and truly indulged in December and this time I'd like to see more of the parks and not have to worry about making dinner reservation times. Anyway, sorry to ramble. I'm just so excited about the possibility.

I am planning for Sept 6-13. I am saving about $300 with AAA, but am waiting for a rate! I am so excited!
May I ask how they are saving you money? I have NOT YET booked, but have a pretty good rate at POP ($77 + tax), planning to use the dining plan, reasonable rate from Delta, and buying 10 unexpiring park hopper. How will AAA benefit?

2ofUs: do you mind sharing where you got a rate of $77 for Pop? With AAA I'm thinking my discount will only be around $85-95! I've never paid that much during off peak for a "VALUE"!! I'm getting scared of thinking no great discounts (besides AAA) at all for me this year. I may be shopping for a place off property.

$77 is what the WDW website is quoting for value resorts during value season. It's all in when you go.

I'm hoping to get back in September. It will be me and 5 kids. We went last September, NO dining plan, and even though it was HOT, it was so uncrowded that we loved it. We were thinking of going in January 2007, but the kids would rather go this September. So I'll be watching for codes, too!

Love your pic! We will be going inSept!!! (and May....06) never been in MAY, so we'll seeee. But oh September!!! I t was the most perfect time to go!!! NO CROWDS AT ALL!!!! The park is practically empty, we didn't have to wait for anything!!!! Not a drop of rain, beautiful sunshine ... it was the 11th to the 18th, plus we got the most awesome deals on flights, it cost 750 u.s for 6 of us!
Where do you stay, being that there will be six of you also. We stayed at th ePOP, it was fun, we had the 70's building , close to everything! Only complaint that after a long day at multiple parks, the walk was VERY undesirable!!!! back to the bus stop! It always seemed like we were the last ones....correction POP is the last one, it is also the biggest value and busiest!!!!

So if I book now and codes come out later do they just refund you the money?? Is it better to wait or book now?? We are also planning to purchase dining plan....Is it better to book things seperately or as a package?? I think I am confusing myself. Are there any other helpful threads on this board to a newbie such as myself?? Thanks

First timer here! Going October 4th -11th then heading down to St Petes from 11th -15th to chill out and unwind before flying back to Tx!

Very excited! And very confugled!!!! We have looked at all possible ways to do this trip. From POR (wont do value, hate the pools...) to off site like the Hilton at DTD We can get a nice 1 bdr suite off property for 125.00/nt thru mousesavers, but know we will lose some of the disney magic.

If we stay on property we will most likely do the dining plan. Is it WAY cheaper to book everything seperatly? If you can save $$ then it will more than pay for meals right? ugh i told you im confused!

I also see lots of people already reserving/booking rooms. Can you cancel them without a penalty? Should I do this?

Egads im asking to many questions lol, just excited i guess :)

Thanks ya'll!

The dining plan is fantastic, there is a list of places that are included in the dining plan on the disney web site. We had free dining in September. Character meals are included and pretty much all of the restaurants. We LOVED Thw whispering Canyon, Tony's Town Square is good too. The restaurants provide you with the menus for the dining plan at each restaurant you go to. You will not go away hungry and you will eat like ROYALTY!!!! They treat you sooooo good, we wouldn't do it any other way, we're hooked! Ummm.... I saved all of my receipts from the meals and to give you an idea of what it's like.... if we had to pay for these meals and snacks and lunches, we ( a family of 6, 2 adults and 4 children 8 and under) would have spent @ $2000! Of course we would never order such expensive stuff, but even if we had to pay $35 /day per adult and $10/ day per child, IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!! LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT. Oh yeah , The Garden Grill ( the revolving restaurant in Epcot ) is really worth it too. Good Luck and ENJOY!!!!!

This is a very helpful thread. I'm SO overwhelmed by *trying* to plan this trip. I think I've read every message on this board and still can't comprehend it all! I usually love planning, but the thought of missing out on saving a few hard earned dollars has my head spinning. I don't even know where to start in planning!

(Pop Century, 2 adults & 1 child-6, 6 days/5 nights, Sept. 24-29)

BUT... a few questions-

If I go ahead and book the MYW w/ dining through AAA (saving about $300) what happens if a code comes out that's better than AAA? How do I get that rate? Book with Disney and cancel with AAA?

Can a travel agent use my AAA discount? I'd really like to use a travel agent for all this craziness! If I can do that (use AAA), it might be best as the travel agent will watch for codes and let you know, right? Or some do...

I also have Disney Visa. Can I use the AAA and any Visa discounts together, or the codes and Visa, etc?

Is this all stuff I should be talking to a travel agent about?
Probably...

...But I thank you all so much for your good ideas and warm input. I'm used to the snippy, rude, and snotty Disneyland boards (on other sites... shhh!), so this place is quite a change. I visit DL about twice a month, and must keep up with all the gossip so I keep reading those other guys.

I'm a newbie too when it comes to "Code Watch 2006!" From being on these boards, I've learned how difficult it can be to get in on a good code, so for that reason, I'm using a travel agent who specializes in Disney trips. We're booked at the PO-R for October 3-9 with no discounts right now. I have an AP, so if and when codes are published, the travel agent will have them applied. I think it means cancelling the existing reservation and rebooking under the code, but I'm not sure...and I don't have to be. Thank goodness!

I believe I've read that a travel agent can book using your AAA discount, but don't take that as gospel...I've read so many things lately that I sometimes get my facts confuzzled! I don't think multiple discounts can be combined, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong! :goodvibes

If you're staying @ POP, I'm confused as to how you're saving $300 w/AAA. Their discount for Value rooms is traditionally 20% off room rack rate.

You can book your room yourself using AAA discount as a "room only" reservation & just pay 1 night's deposit. WDW will be glad to add on the MYW tix/dining option @ a later date. It used to be a week prior to arrival, not sure what the deadline is now. CRO would be able to advise you. One benefit is that you can cancel room (up to 5 days prior( if a better deal comes out.

I haven't used our Disney VISA yet for WDW travel. Just got the card. Usually, you can only apply 1 code (whether it's AP/AAA/misc. code). Don't know if you can add codes to the "6 month free financing" promo...is it from date you place deposit or vacation start time?

Will have to pick your brain on DL - I'm trying to plan a trip next June & having problems (not as much info out there).

Good luck with your planning.

Hi, Nichole....

Speaking for myself, I'm waiting and hoping for an AP code to be published for October. I'm pretty new to this, but it is my understanding that sometimes "public" codes are published, too. I believe that if a code comes out and you're already booked, you have to cancel the first booking and re-book using the code. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

Tissa
02-28-2006, 08:51 AM
If you have a room booked and a code comes out you can have the code applied. You do not have to cancel the reservation. If you are going from package to room only or room only to package then you do have to cancel and rebook. There hasn't been a lot of room only codes in 05 just AP and package discounts.

Thanks for your response. It's truly amazing how *nice* all of you WDW guys are. I swear the "Disneyland people" like are rabid dogs in comparison. Must be a California thing. ;)

I was quoted a price through AAA that was almost $300 less IF I tacked on travel insurance when getting a quote on the WDW site. So I guess I fudged the numbers a bit there. I thought that was only fair since AAA offers free travel insurance. Without the insurance through WDW it's about $175 less. I got a small discount on tickets as well.

You gave me some great hints and advice. Thank you. I'm going to start contacting some travel agents as soon as I can convince DFi that it's not to early to start booking!

Please feel free to contact me if you'd like some advice or whatever on DL planning. I don't know a lot about the off-site hotels as I live only 2 hours away and don't stay down there very often, but I know DLR inside and out.

Thanks again.

Hi, I know I already asked this but I've seen two different responses. Does anyone know when the 50th Celebration is finished at WDW? I've heard throught this thread that it is in September, but through some reading at one of the other Disney based websites I've also seen December. We will be in WDW for the first time for our Honeymoon Oct 9-15 and would like to know if we get to take part (I proposed during the 50th at Disneyland this past October, :thumbsup2 ). If anyone could let me know for sure I would appreciate it!

What a great place to spend your honeymoon - good luck. The Celebration originally was to run through the end of September (along w/the free ME service).

Haven't seen an official announcement that it's been extended or whether it will continue to be offered gratis. However, I was asked by 2 different CMs, when I made res for Oct '06 & Jan '07, if I wanted to make our ME res. yet. When I responded that I didn't have our flight info yet, I was urged to book ASAP. Others have posted that if they do start charging for the service, existing res. will be honored w/o charge...not sure though.

I've been lucky w/securing low rental car rates (and we do switch our accommodations once or twice when we visit) so we haven't yet tried out ME but, had planned on using in Oct. Think I might book w/projected flight info to get "in line" and alter closer to the date.

Have fun planning your trip to WDW. I'm trying to get out to DL next year (along w/Vegas & Grand Canyon) but, planning info doesn't seem to be as readily available as it is for WDW.

We're planning on going end of September - for my experience on codes and rebooking last year...

I wanted POFQ, with a FL res rate (my parents are Fl Residents, and were coming and I read they could book 2 rooms) so I paid a "room only" Then they offered a "pkg" (free dining it was when Disney first did the dining pkg so they offered it free, doubt if that will happen again!!) So in order to get the "pkg" I had to "rebook", cancel the "room only" and yes, they had to refund my deposit, and I had to "repay" a deposit...

To make matters even more complicated, the pkg you need to buy tickets MYW tickets, I had already bought them!! Lucky I didnt take advantage of the low discount mousesavers.com advertised, because again, I had bought them thru WDW online, I had to mail them back, and they refunded the money, and then I got the package!! (but the hassle was well worth the free food!!)

So long story - hope it's not tmi - I still plan on booking, this time I think I'd book a pkg room since I dont think an AP will help, and the dining plan is the way to go for our family to save money (we love the character meals, as well as the respite a fine dining gives us!!)

Hope they do offer a code tho... a "Hurricane Code"!! Only as long as they can fill up rooms without codes, I dont see them offering codes - I think they are putting a good amount of money into advertising (the family of 4 $1500) that is paying them in higher attendance... jmho

Can someone tell me if and AP code comes out can I buy a AP and use it for this deal? Also what happens if I already booked the package? Is it hard to change your reservations? I guess it would be worth for the AP if the deal is good. Also what were the good deals last OCT and when do they usually come out? Thank you, I'm new here Nichole

Thus far AP's = room only discount. Key component is MYW tix purchase - 1 day will qualify. Can someone tell me if and AP code comes out can I buy a AP and use it for this deal? FWIW, there is a BIG convention at the Epcot hotels for Oct 8-13, 2006. They just put up a website with the convention rates of $150 for the moderates and $250 for the Epcot resorts. There was a minimum 3 night stay at the moderates and a 4 night stay at the Epcot resorts. Also, these rates were prepaid and non-refundable 45 days prior (later Aug).

I would have expected lower convention rates, esp. at the moderates, but maybe I am still living in the past! -- Suzanne

how big is this convention? What kind of convention is it? Can we take advantage of this discount? If not and the parks are going to be seriously crowded, I might change our week to go. I don't want to take my DD out of school and she has that week off. Completely STINKY! Thanks for posting that, Nichole

I can't tell you exactly how many are attending, but I can tell you that it is large enough that they set up separate tents at the Epcot resorts to serve meals. It is call the Gartner ITexpo. We went last year during the conference and found little impact on the parks except for the one night they rented out the Magic Kingdom, so it was closed to the public at 6 pm. There might also be an impact on the Epcot resort restuarants and Jellyrolls.

You might be able to use the conference rate even without signing up (the $3500 cost for the conference makes signing up pretty cost prohibitive!), but it looked pretty restrictive. It seemed to be available only for certain specific dates with the minimum number of nights I mentioned before. If that works for you, best of luck. -- Suzanne

Hello all, new to the disboards but can see already a lot of great information here.

Someone asked earlier about the dates for MNSSHP and the confirmed first night wil be Friday, Sept 29th. Dates are usually Monday and Friday of each week in October until the last week of October when there might be only one on the 31st.

As to rates and codes....The only discount available to me last week was AAA rates and I booked at AKL for 8 nights at $174.00 plus tax for a total of $1552.00. This is for standard view. This is $194.01 per night with tax. I am planning to apply the AP rate (and buy an Annual Pass for myself only) if the savings warrant the purchase. Codes for AP usually come out the first of June. Also special package savings come out around the same time. In 2003, it was stay 4 nights and get 3 free. In 2004, it was stay 5 nights and get 2 free, and last year it was the free dining plan.

I'm using Wendy at Magical Journeys this time and letting them do all the legwork. I have only used the WDW official web site to book all my other on site vacations.

I'm just very happy to be going back and can't wait until October hours are released so I can start the day to day planning.

October is just great for weather and low crowds so ya gotta love it. :goofy:

jleau, June is the historical time that they usually release discount codes for October. A lot of us watch for those codes to see if we can improve on the cost of our reservations. I for instance have a AAA ressie for October allready. When the AP rates come out I will check those rates against what I will pay with my AAA (assuming I can get the hotel and room type I want with the AP rate). If the AP is better you book that and cancel your AAA.

Now some very brave people just hold out for a good code. I am too much of a nervous nelly for that thought.

Good luck and welcome to the dis! :wave2:

Hi, new to the boards also. I am planning on going 10/4-10/15 right now at all star sports, I have saved about 300.00 with AAA. we are planning on taking our ds 4yr with us, my sisters and family is going to join us a few days later. When we went last year we had the dinning plan, didn't have the special but still saved a ton of money with the dinning plan and wouldn't think of not getting it again. If we can get a great rate with any special codes we would love to move up to pofq, as that is our favorite place to stay.

Just thought I'd add to TC 's post -

Last year I booked a room at the resort I wanted, and then waited for FL Res. codes to come out (my parents are FL res, and qualify and were coming with) BUT then the "Free Dining" came out... I sat on it for a week and then did the math and realized the Free Dining would far outweigh the "historical" code discount for Fl Residents - so I had to CHANGE my ressies, and for codes they 'reserve' a certain 'amount" (unknown to anyone!) of code rooms, ie AAA, AP, etc. at each resort...

So this year, I went and booked a room at the resort I wanted as soon as I had enough saved to reserve the room ( down payment) knowing if a general code comes out I can apply it to my room package...

AP rates are good for "room only" reservations. So if you choose to go room only and then find the code is for a "package" you have to cancel the "room only" and "rebook" to a package - its all do-able, and it would seem in computer land it would be easier - but it does require them refunding the "room only" deposit and for them to take a "package" deposit.

Hope this Helps

Great information about the past package discounts. I only heard about the FREE(!) dining plan from last year. That is an amazing savings and hopefully we'll get something similar this year.

Could you give an example of the type of discounts released for AP holders? Just wondering if that savings would be worth buying an AP.

Thanks for any information!

:cheer2: Welcome to DISBOARDS :cheer2:

There's lots of infor for a newbie here - I have a DD now 9 we celebrated her 9th bday at Disney, very magical, but dont "expect" things, just sit back and soak in Disney, and every now and again, when you least expect it... :wizard: pixie dust!!! Get a Bday pin at each resort - know when CM's are busy they can be human (cranky!!) at Epcot they were far more relaxed, and cheerful - somehow Goofy called DD to wish her a Happy Birthday!! She was so excited, then when another CM asked if she got a bday called she acted like no, what do you mean - she said, mom did you see how excited the CM was? I wanted them to be the "first" to let Goofy wish me a happy birthday!!

In a line at Epcot, someone noticed dd bday pin (stop at guest services at each park and you get a special bday pin!) and they started singing to her!! Just regular people!!

I called wdwflorist.com and ordered a balloon bouquet for our room, with a snack bag - they had a Tinkerbelle balloon - lol at 3 am when the A/C kicked it nte balloon moved, inspiring dd in sleep haze to wake up screaming - its TINKERBELLE She's HERE!! :rotfl2: She told Wendy about it the next day at the breakfast we saw Wendy at!! :rotfl2: Wendy just went on and on about Tink!!

Have fun planning!!

We are planning to visit Oct 16-23. We have purchased the airline tickets but have not reserved yet. If we reserve and a code comes out (such as the free dining), would we be charged to change the reservation to have the code applied? I guess the cost of changing it may be worth the savings if they were to offer free dining again. We are planning to add the dining plan to our package anyway.

We'll be there 9/21 - 9/27, probably at the Poly. The best rate so far I've gotten is from AAA. I've never used an agent to book my previous trips to WDW, so I'm a little green with how it works! I really like how Mouse Ears and Small World will update rates for you if specials come out, but I really like the $500 in AAA savings! If codes come out after I've booked with AAA, can they be applied? And can other agencies such as Mouse Ears and Small World book AAA rates?

Our last trip was Oct 2001. We originally booked POR in Jan & were able to get a general code around June. I think back then the price was about $95 night + tax for POR. I am looking at prices now, & even POP is $99 + tax. Has there been a general code in the past few years for October? Would consider joinging AAA if the savings were worth it. We would really like to stay at a moderate again this time, but $450 extra from a value is a lot of money.

Well, as I understand the system....if you book at the AAA rate, the deposit is only one night's lodging and this is a five day out refundable rate.

I currently don't even belong to AAA, but Wendy at Magical Journeys is taking care of all that. If AAA is the best rate I can get, I'll join before I go. When AP rates come out, I'll be cost comparing and looking to see if buying an Annual Pass will be worth the expense to reduce the rate enough to actually save us money and again when codes come out in June, I'll be using those codes if they save us even more money.

This will be my fourth visit in October and of course purposely timed my arrival to get there in value season so that the value season rate will apply to our entire stay.

Currently watching and waiting now to jump on a decent round trip air fare from PIT to MCO. I really like the idea of booking now and paying for my trip in advance. I pay $200.00 a month or so each month so that when I carry my luggage out the door, everything is paid for and all I have in my pocket is my spending money.

We do this same thing. Book the trip, then pay it off each month so it is paid in full before we go. We are booking this weekend for Sept 8-15. We're hoping for some sort of discount code. I think we're going to try Pop. I'd really like to do CSR or CBR, but for an additional $500 for a larger room and hot tub, I haven't been able to justify it to myself yet. We will also be doing the DP.

Here's hoping for a discount code coming out and cheap airline tickets!

I spoke with Wendy at Magical Journeys and she said she very much doubted that you would see "free dining" again this year. She said that promotion was great at introducing the plan and would probably not be offered again.

I'm really really hopeing for stay 4 nights get 3 free.......That was a huge savings for us in 03.

As I understand it, if you work with an agent (but keep this in mind, this is the first time I have not booked it all by myself) they will be able to book an original room only reservation then switch it to a package or an ap rate or whatever whenever the savings warrant the switch. This is also very important not to buy tickets until you have your room only plans figured out.

That is why I alerted Wendy to the fact that I would purchase an AP or go package or whatever.....If we end up with a package...would happily pay for the dining plan.

Just glad I have the rooms booked.....

OH, and Wendy was very helpful when I asked her for hints on getting great air rates.....

Just my 2 cents today and leaving for work....sigh...so I can pay for the whole thing.... :surfweb:

So, (sorry I am SO confused about this)...we have booked with AAA the last couple years...we are planning on a late September trip. We have not booked anything yet. We always do the package deal, and this year we are thinking about adding the dining plan.

Our AAA agent is very nice, BUT, I don't think she knows anything about the codes or will check into anything like that for us...last year we missed out on the dining plan, cuz I didnt know anything about it until I read it on here after I got back!! :sad2:

Anyway, I guess my question is: In order to get the code/discount we should wait to book until they come out or book with my AAA agent now, and then cancel and rebook AFTER they come out?? She can't just apply it if I let her know about it?

Any help explaining this to me would be GREATLY appreciated.

TIA!! :confused3

Our AAA agent is very nice, BUT, I don't think she knows anything about the codes or will check into anything like that for us...

I know exactly how you feel. When booking with my AAA agent she didn't even quote me a AAA discount at first. She came back with the exact same price as the WDW website was giving me. When I mentioned that that was not a AAA discounted rate she said Oh.... Really? (seriously :rolleyes2 ). She then said well let me call Disney direct and see what they say. She then called back with the discounted rate.

Also, this may sound mean but in the past when I have been able to get AP discounts I have gone ahead and taken care of booking that for my self direct with Disney and have then cancelled with AAA. I believe that if I called AAA they probably could apply the rate but since I have allways known way more than they do about codes and ressies (and yes I know that they are not Disney specialists) I figure it is just safer if I handle codes other than AAA myself. Now if something like free dining or some other thing associated with a package came out I would definitely have AAA just apply it to what I already have. But with AP I just feel safer knowing I did it and seeing that lovely Disney Confirmation show up a few days later letting me know I wasn't dreaming and I really got an AP rate :Pinkbounc

You do not have to use an AAA travel agent to get the AAA discount.

Any good travel agency can book for you and get AAA rates....I would never use an AAA travel agent unless I confirmed that that particular agent had years of experience and was willing to go the extra distance and watch for discounts and extra savings to apply to my trip.

Heck, you can book yourself with Disney and just ask for the AAA rate.

Switching from the AAA rate to a package if it warrants the savings or to a AP rate if that's what we decide would offer even more savings will all be handled painlessly by the agent I'm using...

Another nice thing about booking now with the AAA rate is you just need to make a deposit of one nights rate and it is refundable even 5 days out!

That is why I'm using Wendy at Magical Journeys.......she is just super! :cheer2:

For sure, get them the birthday buttons at each park. They will get LOTS of recognition just by wearing them; and maybe...just maybe...a bit of pixie dust magic every now and then. Another thing you can do is to get them Disney name tags with their names engraved on them...that way the CMs can call them by name. (My niece got a big charge out of Cruella saying, "Have an eeeeevillll birrthday my dear Errrrricaaaa.") I know there are people who disagree with this because it also means a dangerous stranger can call them by name, but it's an idea to consider.

As for the resort, check out Port Orleans Riverside - the Alligator Bayou section. It is great for kids...and parents!

Is it worth the discount to enroll in AAA? I have already made my reservation for Sep 14-18th. If I enroll can I call Disney and they will apply my dicounts? How does this work, please help. :teeth:

Oct/Sept is my favorite time of year to go to disney, lower temps/ lesser crowds. Plus, they sometimes throw in some nice deals once in a while, hoping for the same this year too. I'm going to wait to book just in case something good pops up. I actually liked the 7 nights for the price of 5 they offered two years ago, it help us to afford to stay in the conceirge floor at the YC for our honeymoon.

Disney will apply the discount if you are getting room only. If you want a full package you have to book through AAA. I had 2 rooms through disney at POFQ for 8 nights with the park hopper, water parks and dining. By having AAA book my vacation I saved 440.00. I decided it was worth it and my daughter will save 15% on the tours she is doing.

Hi there!! I am new to this forum and trying to figure things out. I am taking my husband, two young kids, and parents to WDW Sept 23-Oct 1. CANNOT WAIT!! :cool1:

Been working hard to get the cheapest rate. Right now we are staying at POP but would like any CODE and possibly upgrading. I need 2 rooms. AAA was only $140 savings for that week. Booked through Disney with the hopes of finding a code. :hourglass

Got the meal plan!

Any information or guidance would be appreciated. I have been there since I was 16 (will be 30 in July). Any tips or suggestions would be most helpful!! :surfweb:

I don't think I've jumped in yet. We've booked for Sept 8-15 at Pop Century with the Dining Plan. I am also hoping for some sort of code.

The Swan/Dolphin deal just released sounds fantastic, but I am really looking forward to the dining plan (can't book dining plan with S/D) and trying some new restaurants.

:wizard: Here's to wishing for a discount to be released!

atremel

:wizard: It doesn't help to have extra wishes for the codes. I did look at the cost for Swan but the benifits of the dining are not worth it. We booked at Pop for $79 a night. I am watching. I talked to a Disney rep last night to add the upgrade code for travel before 6/30 on park tickets.

The guy said that it is possible that there will be a code in June for Sept travel for free ticket up grade and 30% off room. Keeping my fingers crossed that it comes out!! We are ok price wise and I cannot complain at what our package costs, but hey, I am willing to go cheaper!!!

We signed up for Disney's Visa card and are using it for EVERY purchase and the log on and pay it off. 1% adds up when you are getting groceries and gas. Thanks for replying.

Will post if I hear anything!!!!

PS) How do you put that cool count down on your page?

I am glad you mentioned that you can't get dining with S/D. I was looking into some time at the end of August, using the teacher discount right before the school year started, and wanted to add dining. I was trying to figure out how to get that staying at S/D.

Thanks!

Are there separate "codes" for AAA??? We just booked POR in Oct. with a AAA discounted rate. I thought the only requirement for that was having a AAA membership.

I'm hoping like heck they release October codes. We did the free DP last October, but have heard from many others on here that after that ended there were no codes offered for that time of year...BUMMER. I'm sure we'll go ahead and end up booking a pkg, but having a code sure would be nice!

I have already booked a AAA package. If a code comes out to upgrade tickets etc. anyone know if I can still upgrade even if I booked already. My payment is due by the beginning of Aug. would all the changes have to be made before then.
Thanks....not wanting to hijack this thread just need some clarification.

Does anyone remember when the Spet/Oct codes were relased last year? I am thinking that it won't be until June before any of us here anything about it. :sunny:

But my hears are wide open :listen: for anything.

last years' AP rates through 10/4 came out 6/1/05.....and then Fl rates for 10/5-12/25 came out 8/25....

I am looking for late October rates so probably around August!

Just for fun, posting what 2005 AP rates were...

WDW Annual Passholders can get special discounted rates at select Walt Disney World resorts for check-ins 8/28/05-10/4/05. The code gives you a flat discount off the rack rates: $18 off Value resorts, $45 off Moderate resorts and $70 off Deluxe and Home-Away-From-Home resorts. Some sample rates:

* Value Resorts (All Stars and Pop Century) - $59 standard
* Moderate Resorts - $89 standard, $104 preferred view/King
* Animal Kingdom Lodge - $129 standard, $210 savannah view
* Boardwalk/Beach Club/Yacht Club - $224 standard
* Polynesian - $234 garden view

We're hoping for similar or better rates for this year.

Don't AP's cost almost twice as much as MYW tickets these days.

3 prem myw tix = $847 (2 adults)
3 PAP = $1600?

Seems like you would have to make (2) 7 days visits just to break even on the tickets. Where are the savings anymore? I used to do the AP thing, but not anymore.

Enlighten me.

Can one use AP to make a WDW package reservation that includes the dining plan?

Since non-AP holders must pay rack rate AND order park passes to get the DP, but if you use AAA you can get a discount on the room but not passes, I'm wondering how it works with an AP.

We want the DP, Magical Express, and to stay on-premise.

Thanks for any help/advice.

Why not just buy ONE AP and 2 regular MYW? The AP discount is good for up to 6 people for meals, etc. and you only need 1 AP to get room discounts, right?

After crunching the numbers, there doesn't seem to be much savings. In fact AAA and MYW is cheaper at the values and mods. You can save on the deluxes depending on the AP discount, though.

Well, I just renewed my AP and my dd's AP. (Not premium) A 10-day with hopper and no expiration was actually a little more than the AP renewal rate. So, I figure that IF I get a discount on our room in October, it was well worth it. Even if I don't get a room discount, still was a little less. So for me, it was cheaper to renew than to buy the MYW regardless, and a room discount would be even better!

Welcome!

You are subscribed to this thread because you posted on it.

Sometimes you can apply a code to an existing booking, but sometimes you have to cancel the initial ressie and re-book using the code.

I'm using a travel agent, and she will monitor codes (I have an AP) and make any necessary changes to have them applied.

FYI: The travel agent told me that Septmber/October dates are filling up fast (we didn't get our first choice resort), so don't wait too late to book.

We go at the end of Sept. beginning of Oct. and the temps there are perfect, in the mid 80's. We're from NY (LI) and Florida's fall temps are the same as NY's August temps (in my opinion). We always go Blizzard Beach and we have no problem. I always bring light jackets for us to wear in the parks in the evenings, but I can't remember using them once. Next time I'm gonna leave them and if it gets chilly, well then, we'll just have to buy a souvenier!!!

DDE works great! On our last trip it saved us (2 adults) $120 ($70 after paying for itself) and we're making 2 more trips before it expires. When we add in the AP savings we get on hotels, it's been well worth it.
