Hello everyone!

I am a European WDCC collector. I know in the past, there have been WDCC conventions. The last one I heard about was the Blast of the Past one in 2004 (I think). Does anyone of you know if there are going to be conventions in the years to come?
I am member of the WDCC Society, but I can't remember reading in Sketches that there was another convention planned, and now that the WDCC-business changed ownership.... I would love to attend one though.

It is also too bad they don't keep the Disney-WDCC website updated. I loved that website, whereas the Enesco one is just... well, it makes the collection look cheap.

Thank you for your answers,

Sandra

was the official word after the takeover was that the 2004 convention was the last one. Enesco did not feel they were profitable enough to continue. Sorry I don't have any better news. They announced it either during the convention or immediately before (I can't remember). It was a real dissappointment for all of us who were lucky enough to have attended them.

Oh Shoot...
I don't understand what they are doing to the collection! Firstof all, there is no decent website anymore (except for wdccduckman.com but that is not an official one) to inform people.
Next, they release so many pieces every month... they are going to run out of scenes fast! And people can't just keep up with collecting (at least I can't... there is no way I can continue the collections I started, being Mickey & Minnie, Cinderella, BatB and Snow White, they release to many of them)

And now they stop the conventions... now that I wanted to attend one :( I don't see why they can't be profitable. Yes, if they offer a lot of free pieces, it becomes expensive for them. But I would like to attend to go to speeches of sculptors, get informed about how the collection is made, ... Oh well...; in my opinion, they are making the collection less "unique"...

Wow, we are totally on the same wavelength. I just posted this topic on the collector's board at tellnotales.com. I was talking about the WDCC/WDAC convention I went to in 2000 called "A Pirate's Life for Me." I was thinking that the last con they had was the Blast to the Past, which I had a deposit down to attend, but my bunkmate couldn't go, so we had to cancel. I think the last Disneyana con was in 2001.

I really enjoyed this convention - perhaps a letter to event services at either park is in order. They do a decent job with their events (I have attended 2 HHB events here in WDW).
