Why would a teacher do that to him? That's wrong.

Ok..yea, that's cruel but entertaining. It's easy to say that because it didn't happen to me though..

That teacher is an idiot. So does that mean if I wear an Ohio State jersey and my teacher is a Michigan Fan, or if I wear a Yankees hat and my teacher is a Red Sox fan, that gives him the right to humiliate me like that? I'm sorry, but I would have probably punched the teacher in the face. I don't care if I get suspended or expelled or whatever. That is stupid, wrong, and a great example of how people take sports too seriously.

the teacher is clearly a huge fan of his home team and he is just being stupid over some stupid topic...
if he doesn't like what his student is wearing, just get over it...
i feel sorry for the student...

It's not that funny. And just becouse his team was facing her favorite team dosen't mean he can do that. the only way this can work is if the teacher is a Packers fan, and the student is a Vikings fan.

:scared1: OMG, that was really harsh,

Did the teacher HAVE to make such a BIG deal about it? :sad2:

Sure the teachers here have favorite teams and they like to tease the kids here just a little. But they'd NEVER do that. That's just rude.

Since it's an ethnicity class, I can see where the teacher might say... "Hey, everyone else in here is a Pittsburgh fan. How does it feel to be in the minority?" But to force the kid to take his midterm on the floor while being harassed is outrageous. I can't believe that a teacher would ever feel justified in disadvantaging a student during an exam. This guy obviously doesn't know what it means to be a teacher and should certainly be fired.

What I don't get...is why the kid didn't do anything. They just sat there and took it?

because the person doing it is his TEACHER... he'd probably have gotten into trouble had he stuck up for himself... "don't talk back to me..." etc.

i think it's disgusting... i can see how between friends this kind ajoke might be funny... or just for a very short time, just a little dig @ the guy or whatever... but the teacher took it way too far and humiliated the poor guy... he totally abused his position... quite simply this was bullying...

Umm not quite. I guess you didn't hear about the part where he made him take his test on the floor and the part where he allowed other students to throw things at him? Yeah, gee. Funny.

So? There is a point where a teacher is no longer deserving your respect. Had this been me, I probably would have hit the teacher. Punched him in the face and go "If that felt bad, then it was a lesson". Expell me, suspend me, do whatever. I probably would have transfered out of the school anyway, so what do I have to lose?

well, IMO that is probably over-reacting... by resorting to violence you kinda loose your moral highground...

i guess refusing, calmly, to sit on the floor... would be a good first step... then, i fthe teacher persisted i would walk out and go find someone more senior and explain the situation...

but of course... just because someone is a teacher/older than me/whatever doesn't mean they deserve my respect no questions asked...

edit: i didn't mean that the student SHOULDN'T have done anything because the guy was his teacher.. i meant more that he probably felt he COULDN'T do anything iykwim? i know i've been in trouble before, unfairly so.. and unfairly punished (for things i didn't do) but when trying to explain this i got into more trouble for answering back...

That was wrong of the teacher to do calling out a student because of an opinion. Me and my friends like different teams i like the Pack and one of my friends is a broncos fan. So we joke around but thats between friends, that is wrong to do. I third the "the teacher should be fired"

I don't think the teacher should be fired. Sure he is a complete moron, but he shouldn't be fired.

I don't think the teacher should be fired. Sure he is a complete moron, but he shouldn't be fired.Being a moron is enough reason to fire him. He's entrusted with the education and safety of his students. He put the student in an impossible position for his midterm and encouraged other students to harass him. As a teacher, that's inexcusable.

In my social studies class today we did a current event about this. Our class was quiet (for once) while reading this. The whole class agreeded that this was cruel and the teacher is definatly unfair. ::yes::

First off I go to Beaver Falls and the kid was lying about most of it. Second it is Ethnic relations which you get humiliated for a reason because its the class and third he blew it so out of porportion it isin't funny. He gave our school such a bad name everytime we go somewhere people talk loudly with rude comments. fourth the teacher wasn't picking on him over a jersey specificly its just a class and he was showing how people get picked on because of what they wear or how they look. The teacher is a great teacher and news mad it soud like the worse thing ever and hey people it was paper not rocks or something like that. And the tteacher never held him by the jersey and threw him up against the wall or on the floor. Also the kid was laughing along with the whole thing tillhe walked out of class. He also sent a text message to one of my friends saying I only am doing this because i herd i can get money out of this whole ordeal. The teacher never put his students through anything bad it was a leason on how our country is and if you sit back and look at it you all prob do some real mean things and don't even think about it. So I am sorry if I sound rude its just the kid blew this so out of porportion and gave the school a bad name that I am sick of it.

One of our teachers has done that before, blue eyes sit over here, brown over here kind of stuff. But there is a limit to what you're allowed to do, isn't there? You shouldn't have to have stuff thrown at you to get the point. How do you know he was laughing along with the whole thing? I highly doubt you were even in the class at the same time. "The teacher never put his students through anything bad"...Yeah, if you count being humilliated in class "not bad". It's not giving the school a bad name, it's giving the teacher a bad name. And honestly the teacher deserved it; because there is a line you shouldn't cross in classes such as these and he crossed it.
