While I was waiting in Corral G, I got to talking with a mother and her young daughter. They were from Utah. The little girl was probably around 12 years old, dark, high-lighted hair. The mother had knee problems and didn't know if she was going to be able to finish, but the girl had trained and was going to run it.
The girl had some major health problems she'd overcome and this was a goal.
I keep thinking about her. I'm wondering if she finished. Does anyone know these people?? Just a shot-in-the-dark chance.
Thanks!

You may be talking about Karen and Courtney Carona. The mother is 46 and Courtney is 18. They finished in 3:24:59. The minimun age for the half was 14.
I searched for Utat females on the race results page.
Hope this helps

I would have been very surprised if this girl was 18, but it's possible if she'd been ill. She looked like she was in the 10-12 year age group ... and the little runner went ahead and took off to let the mom walk it. Hmm ... maybe I can see photos on the official photo site. I just keep thinking about her and hoping she made it!

I'm from G Corral (for the Half) too :) and it's funny how you don't know the names nor their numbers but their faces are with you long after the race and you wonder how they finished.
I had the pleasure of meeting up with a lady who had been standing next to me in the start corral. I came across her at the ramp just after mile 10 and walked a wee bit with her and saw her again after we finished as we waited to have our pictures taken. She was with her daughters and from I believe she said Canada. It was such a pleasure to see a face I started with and to see her at the end to know that she had a successful race.

I never saw anyone from Corral G again -- until I got to the finish line and into tent city to find my DH. :rotfl2: I was always checking bibs during the race, and saw a lot of Corral G's but no one that had been standing near me.

I thought it was pretty funny to find someone from the beginning and it wasn't like I had talked to her. If anything I said Hi, maybe 5 minutes. I was trying to lose my headache at the corral so was sitting pretty quietly for the hour.
To come up behind her on the ramp and spot her because of her hat was weird. she was wearing that cute ballhat with Minnie's poka dots and bow, but there were others with that hat but I knew it was the same person.
I actually found a picture of her looking thru the lost & found this past weekend and by finding that picture found the pic the photographer took of her and her daughters that morning and I'm just barely in the picture, thankfully smiling and not making funny faces but it was too funny out of all those people to spot 1 person and all because of her hat LOL They seemed like a really nice family :)
I can not wait for September and January to get here but first I guess a wee bit more training wouldn't hurt :teeth:
