Uh-oh, Waitlist came through!

I know ordinarily this is happy news ... but now i'm not so sure.

We booked an easter 2006 trip - first at SSR for 6 nights. At the 7-month window i booked night by night for VWL.

I had wanted to BCV figuring Easter is so crowded that it would be nice to walk into Epcot and not have to deal with the boat to MK. At the 7 month window when I couldnt get all 6 nites at BCV I asked to be put on BCV waitlist.

So we've spent the last few months planning a VWL trip - and have gotten very excited. We've never stayed there before. We were looking forward to boating on the lake and renting bikes to ride to fort wilderness, and we booked all our meals figuring we'd be at VWL. We have reservations at Whispering Canyon and my daughter is going to the cub's den. We just found out that her best friend with be at GF that same week - so we made a bunch of plans with them all based on us being at VWL.

Well guess what? My waitlist arrived in the mail today. 6 nites at BCV - i should be excited, right? We love SAB and it'll be so easy to eat at all the epcot restaurants ... and all that .. but i think i'm disappointed and i think DD and DH will be too.

That's sick, right?

Should i try MS and see if i can switch it back?

Funny thing is ... is that today is the first day of the 7-month window for our august trip and i got BCV.

I was thinking I had the perfect arrangement April at VWL and August at BCV - and now i'm having a pity party for myself.

Help me decide ... do i try to switch back?
... or what can i tell DH and DD that will get them psyched for BCV?

Also does anyone know HOW crowded will SAB be during the week after Easter?

Yea...I would call and see if VWL is available...you know someone else is on the waitlist for Bcv.

See if you can switch it... especially since you got BCV for August.

definitely see if you can switch back - ESPECIALLY if you've never stayed at VWL before. we stayed at WL last NOV and LOVED it! it's a beautiful resort.....you won't be sorry!

This seems like a very good reason NOT to use the automatic waitlist. If you ask for a call, you can always turn it down.

I also Agree with CarolMN, we had them call when we waitlisted for BWV last week, we wound up with a 1 bedroom which we LOVE as opposed to the studio. Great advice is to have them call before automatically changing, I got the call on a Friday afternoon and had until Tuesday at 5PM to call them back, I had NO IDEA what waitlist came thru, so when I called back Monday morning, I was able to hear all my options.

If it were me, I would try to go back to VWL, since you will be at BCV in august.

I would also try to get VWL back. As much as we love BCV, it is not the only resort for us and we choose to stay at other DVC's as well.

SAB is great, but boating on Bay Lake is pretty Awesome too. We were asking about the boating plan at the Y&B Marina and the CM told us flat out, dont buy it there (because the boats are so slow) and directed us to Bay Lake. SAB

You have this trip planned for VWL so if possible, I would keep it, especially if you have never stayed there. We really enjoyed our 10 night stay and will stay there again especially if we are planning on boating and using the kids clubs.

I was right - DH WAS dissappointed waitlist came through ... but DD was estatic and her enthusiasm was infectous. We're keeping BCV for both april and august trips.

We were able to change a bunch of our ADRs for april so we'll be doing several epcot restaurants that we've never eaten at .. we're all excited now.

As for WL ... well there's alway next year, right?

Enjoy BCV!...Please throw a little Pixie Dust my way...we are wait listed for BCV and BWV Easter Week. My 6 Nigths at OKW instead will still be awesome if it does not come through!
