DH and I have joined a gym. We've decided that the way we've been living isn't really healthy for us. We don't watch what we eat, don't really exercise and eat at fast food restaurants about 2 times a week. This is what we've decided to do:

1. Joined the gym (will probably work out 3-4 times a week, they have classes that I'm going to take while DH will probably work more on the weights... however, we will both be doing the tredmill).

2. Eat healthier. Around Christmas I got a deep frier, and since have cooked A LOT of our food in it. I think I might have to retire it for awhile. Although we're not going on a strict diet, we've decided to cut back on our portions and pay attention to how we prepare the food. (not frying as much anymore). I've also decided to add more fruits/veggies and we've been drinking mostly water.

3. Support each other. We've tried to do stuff like this in the past, but we don't have the will power to keep going. We've decided that we're NOT going to let each other quit.

We've also decided to cut out fast food restaurants completely. We don't want to lose a lot of weight, but we'd like to trim down some and try to tone up. Does it sound like this idea would work? What is one thing that you've found that works for you?

Smilie -- First of all, welcome to WISH! You are going to love it here. Everyone is so supportive.
Your plan sounds great. I have found that I make the most progress in my get-fit issues when we eat at home, rather than in restaurants or fast-food places. I think you will see a big difference just from making that significant change. I also do better when I bring my lunch to work, and when I cook food ahead of time (grilling some chicken or turkey burgers or making turkey chili or veggie soup) so that there are healthy choices at hand in the fridge. Right now, I am finding that produce is outrageously expensive, but have had to recognize that healthy eating is worth the price.

Good luck! Looking forward to seeing you around here a lot. :sunny:

WELCOME smilie :)

your plan sounds awesome -- cyber high five for taking that first step in deciding to get healthier and then saying it out loud (or typing it out loud here) so now you feel accountable!

one note on the FF rest --- i will say after staying away for most of last year, I could count the times i had a burger/fries at a FF on one hand probably, two for sure) I no longer even have a taste or crave for it. Watch Supersize Me -- that'll cure ya :) for example today i hit the road and went into nearest shopping area for me, i made a sammich and took it with me, no drive-thru even remotely sounded good :)
